My experience with Dr. Adams and her assistant Melissa is far the best I had ever experienced in any dentist I had visited previously! I had an infectious rootcanaled tooth,and another two dead molers also.Unfortunetly the infection got into my eye causing Iritis (auto immune disease,also high blood pressure) Two days ago all three tooth has been extracted by Dr Adams. I was worried about dry socket (extremely painful condition),I had previously after tooth extraction,also possible infection further spreading into my body. I had been blown away with the service I received! My extraction sites are healing extremely quickly ,and the infection is eliminated.My eye is starting to heal,and my blood pressure is back to normal!!! I will continue with my restoration work with him,installing implants.If he is as professional with implants as with extraction I will be in good hands! I already posted a poor review here about Dr. Adams a couple of months ago, yet I see that it's been removed. There was another negative review by someone else about Dr. Adams and his use of the DNA appliance, and that also appears to have been removed. I hope people don't rely solely on Google reviews. According to another reviewer, her negative review was removed there and followed immediately by a stellar review. Here, again, is my review. I was oversold on the DNA appliance by Dr. Gary Adams. It cost $10K, and made no visible change -- which is what I came to him for. My back teeth are somewhat better aligned, but I never would have paid for that since I had no functional issues. He never told me that this appliance is used exclusively for people with sleep apnea and TMJ, neither of which I have. (His website at the time I sought treatment didn't indicate this either; it focused on the appliance's ability to grow bone.) I used the appliance exactly as prescribed -- I was trying to correct a slight underbite -- and it did absolutely nothing. My smile and bite look exactly like they did before. I still have a little ways to go, but I've been using the DNA appliance for the last 3 years and I am THRILLED with my results!! The left photo was taken just before I started wearing it. As you can see in the right photo, my smile is much wider and less "gummy" looking. Another thing I've noticed is that my voice has gotten deeper and and my vocal range broader (I'm a singer) since wearing it...Of course I can't say for sure it's the appliance, but I've heard of similar results in other people. I had an old filling replaced with a new filling in a lower back molar tooth. The procedure was painful, I believe Dr. Jefferies was drilling on my nerve and bone, despite numbing me. I have had fillings before and he said that the old filling was not deep in my tooth but this pain felt like he kept hitting a nerve. He ignored my attempts to tell him it hurt and instead, rushed through the procedure. He also did not properly check my bite. That was rushed too. When the numbing medicine wore off, there was pain in my tongue, tooth and jaw bone. I had to take extra strength Tylenol to sleep. Four days later there is still tenderness along my jaw bone. It hurts to rest that side of my face on my hand. When I called the office to consult with a different dentist I was told I would have to pay more money. I'Ve already paid over $700 just for the filling. This dentist may have damaged my nerve and drastically shortened the life of my tooth. I will never recommend this dentist. read more

Check carefully for yourself, if you would rely on the positive reviews in choosing this dentist! Dr. Adams was previously with Natural Dentists Associates, and some older reviews reference other dentists. Now he is on his own, with an office manager named Melissa. Agreeing to replace a molar crown, I paid over $2,000 in advance. Dr. Adams took a very long time (like 2 hours) putting on the temporary crown, which hurt badly after about a week. Dr. Adams said there was no issue with the crown and recommended extraction of the tooth and an implant in place of a nearby missing tooth. The appointment was scheduled to do both procedures the same day as Dr. Adams recommended. These procedures would cost several thousand dollars more, and a small discount was agreed (in writing) for part of the procedure. The following day, I called the office to ask to split the two procedures into separate appointments (i.e. extraction first - implant a few weeks later). Everyone seems nice until you start asking questions and taking up time. During this call, Melissa, the office manager, accused me of not trusting the doctor and rescinded the discount. She told me they were not comfortable to work with me anymore and I should find another dentist (and would refund for the permanent crown not done - which was way less than expected when I received the check). After a weekend in pain, I was luckily able to get an appointment for the next day with another dentist. He immediately found tooth was exposed by the temporary crown and repaired it in about 10 minutes. Afterward, the pain was gone, and my tooth was saved. This temporary crown lasted 7 months before I had it replaced with a permanent one. It turns out my questions and caution were well justified. Beware! Lastly, be wary of dentists requiring full payment in advance, and good luck if you need to get any refund from Dr. Adams. As I tried to get a full refund from my experiences above, he called and taunted me in response to my demand letter, ignored my Better Business Bureau complaint, and then spent probably several times the amount on lawyers to defend against my Small Claim in the court. He had lawyers from two separate law firms at the court for 4 hours, for a $1,300 claim, and I lost the case on a technicality (cashed partial refund check.) What a way to run a business! read more

I went for my quarterly dental cleaning today expecting to see Dr. DiNola only to discover when I arrived and asked for him that he is no longer with the practice. For all of you expecting to see Dr. DiNola this notice is for you. For all others, this a warning about a lack of integrity and professionalism. The dental office called a week before my scheduled appointment to reschedule. I requested another 7 am appointment and was told they are no longer offering 7 am appointments. When I asked why I was only told the office changed it's hours. Well in fact that was not the whole truth. What I should have been told is that my appointment was being switched to Dr. Adams. When I arrived only then did I learn that my appointment had been switched to Dr. Adams without my prior knowledge or consent. I told the hygienist I did not want pay for a dental consult but that I would like to speak with Dr Adams about my experience. Instead of manning up the office manager was sent in instead. I had similar professional integrity issues with their Rockville office. So if you are looking for a dental practice with integrity think twice. read more

I had a consultation here and made an appointment to have the recommended procedures done in 2 weeks. I was required to leave a $200 deposit, even though this hadn't been mentioned during the consultation and detailed discussion of costs. They said if I canceled the appointment they would refund the full deposit. I made the deposit using a debit card, assuming that a refund would be returned via the card. Three days later I called to cancel the appointment. Instead of refunding my deposit via my card, they said a check would be mailed to me within 2 weeks. That was upsetting, since I hadn't been told that before and because I live on very low income. Today is 2 weeks and no check. I called to ask about it, and they said, "The check is in the mail." I find that hard to believe since I only live 20 miles away. I'm wondering if they do this to use people's money while they delay refunding it. I would not return to this office and will warn my friends not to go there. read more

I had to get 10 amalgam fillings replaced As fast as possible by a Biosafe dentist. I called over the weekend and was able to get a consultation for Monday and the procedure done Tuesday. I am from PA so I stayed in a hotel and got the procedure done. Dr. DiNola was very friendly and answered all of my questions during the consultation. The procedure went smoothly and I am very thankful for his help and professional manner. I recommend him to all future patients, I have made him my new dentist! I had to go in for a tooth pain (literally) while away from my regular dentist and this is one of the best dentist experiences I have had. I was able to make an appointment online, they were very responsive by email. The staff was very friendly and my dentist was great. She did a more comprehensive evaluation vs. many other dentists I have ever visited, and was very clear in recommending options and pros and cons. They were amazingly great about follow ups. I have been a patient of Dr. Adams for 6 years now and am extremely happy with my care. I highly recommend Dr. Adams and believe he is the best dentist in the area. He practices holistic, safe, and non-toxic dentistry and explores and considers multiple options for treatment starting with more conservative rather than just run-of-the-mill conventional dentistry. The care is very individualized. He is also highly skilled in all of his work. He has done much work on my teeth over the years and I am satisfied with all of it. I also have tended to be a "problem patient" at times due to difficulty getting numb, dental fear, etc and and he handles it far better than any other dentist I've seen in the past. He's knowledgeable, skilled, has a good bedside manner and can make even the most fearful of patients comfortable. You can't really get much better than that. read more

I would not recommend Maryland Holistic Dentist. I had work done by them seven months ago, and I have had nothing but problems since. I paid for my services in full because they told me my insurance would not cover the Amalgam Removal (even though they still billed my insurance and they covered some of the work). They were not honest up front about all the complications that would result from this procedure. They promised to do crown adjustments to help my teeth realign, but they did not honor their promise, but instead gave me a referral to see another dentist about having a root canal procedure done. Dr. Adams particularly was very rude, and spoke down to me when I requested to have the adjustments done on my crowns as they promised. This was a nightmare experience for me, and I am still suffering the results with no money to have the issues corrected. read more

Stay away! Worst dentist ever. Dr. Gary Adams while performing a tooth extraction, had me in the chair for over 5+ hours and numbed up while he was going in and out treating other patients. At the end of it, he negligently left a piece of root in my gum (after I specifically asked him to take a precautionary xray). As a result, months later, it caused an infection in my gum and I had to go to another oral surgeon to have the piece of root removed. He said that he was sorry for leaving the root in, however he refused to pay for the cost of the oral surgeon to fix his mistake. Also, do NOT let him shave down your teeth to correct your bite, he'll use basic analogies like "your teeth should fit like a puzzle", but he over shaved and now my teeth are sensitive to hot/cold. Go at your own risk. He just wants your money and will not pay for his mistakes. Hope this helps people avoid my same ordeal. read more

I visited this dentist office for my daughter to get a second opinion. She visited with Dr. Tipograph who was very nice and knowledgeable. My daughter enjoyed the visit. I liked it so much that I scheduled my husband and I for a cleaning appointment. We went and I loved the hygienist (I don't remember her name). She included my 7 year old in my husband and my cleaning. My daughter is extremely shy and this made her feel very special. I loved both visits there and would definitely recommend this dentist office to anyone looking for a more natural approach at doing things. Dr. Adams was the answer to my prayers after a horrific experience with a root canal. From the evening of the first of two days of canalling, I had experienced a metallic taste, dripping from my nose and down my throat, waking up sweaty and feverish in the wee hours with interrupted sleep, and a general feeling of being increasingly sick. I expressed my concerns to both the endodontist and the "holistic" dentist who referred me to him on several occasions, and the pair discounted my symptoms and passed me back and forth. It wasn't until five weeks after the root canal that the endodontist finally did a CBCT scan and subsequently left an alarming voicemail about an apparent large infection that was linked to my symptoms. My research caused me to conclude that I needed the tooth holistically extracted and replaced with a zirconia implant. Unfortunately, neither of those desires are easily fulfilled in the DC Metro area! I have determined that there is something wrong with how most 21st Century dentists are still trained, given the knowledge and tools that are available to them. I learned that optimal extractions are gently performed, accompanied with ozone to clear out residual infected areas, and include the placement of your own PRF (platelet rich fibrin), made in the office just prior to the extraction. Why would I want biologically incompatible pig, chicken or synthetic bone grafts when my own blood easily produces a far superior healing mechanism? I was willing to travel to Connecticut, where the closest dentist I discovered was located. Then my situation took a turn for the worse, my tooth area was constantly swollen and painful, and I knew that my hotter night sweats might be signalling that the infection was becoming systemic. I continued Google searches until I located Dr. Gary Adams in Burtonsville, MD, about an hour from both my work in DC and home in Virginia. I was ecstatic. I filled out an online form late that night, noting that Dr. Adams promises to see emergency cases the same day. I was hopeful to get the tooth out very soon and start my healing process for the zirconia implant. Dr. Adams' office staff began their contacts with me early the next morning, offering me an appointment for that afternoon. Their sincere concern, empathetic attitude, and professionalism shone uniformly across the office. They were understanding when the endodontist didn't timely provide all my requested test results, and they assured me that they would just repeat anything that was needed by my arrival. The same professionalism was exhibited throughout my visit, and the dental technicians and Dr. Adams alleviated my concerns and provided me with all the knowledge I needed to move forward with the complex extraction. Dr. Adams took me through the procedure as he performed it, even providing a mirror for me to view the extraction area at one point. I knew I was in competent, confident hands, and I was at ease knowing that my PRF was robust in consistency and that the bone should be able to sustain a zirconia implant in about 3 months. When the infected areas were removed, I finally felt validation for all the horrible symptoms I'd experienced as a consequence. Root canals should never be performed in my opinion, as I've learned that they never are completely cleaned out. In the age of ceramic implants, they seem quite obsolete. Most importantly, they can compromise an otherwise healthy person's well being. I look forward to Dr. Adams being my dentist, along with his wonderful staff, who have followed up on my ongoing well being via email. Dr. Adams is thoroughly engaged in his profession, including the use of state-of-the art tools and processes. I look forward to entrusting my zirconia implant and general dental health to him on an ongoing basis, and I feel blessed to have discovered his practice. read more
