My daughter had her 7th bday party and my niece 11th bday last Saturday. I ordered 2 cakes from Mary with less than 2 weeks notice. I have never met nor ordered from her before. Outstanding! We ordered my twin's first birthday cake from Maria, and she did a phenomonal job! You know how you don't want to spend money on a cake because people end up wasting or throwing it out? That's what my fear was. But since I was throwing a huge party for my twin boys, I didn't want to cut corners on the cake. I was looking for an original cake that had personal style. Not a Costco cake! Nothing wrong with Costco - just not this time. I found Mary's Delicacies on Yelp (along with a 5 star review), so I decided to give her a chance given my last minute time constraints. I went to meet Maria in her cute little shop. She does not have any cake samples, nor is it a bakery. It's all by appointment only. Maria help me design my cake around my limited budget. She also gives a 10% discount to police officers, firefighters, teachers. The theme I chose was Curious George, and because of copyright protection, Maria suggested that she mold by hand two monkeys holding balloons, and the #1. It was really unique and cute. I also had fondant polka dots in the CG colors on a 14' round cake. The cake turned out beautiful! I got soooo many compliments. I got the chocolate with chocolate cream. It was out of ths world. So moist!! The buttercream frosting wasn't too sweet either. This was one of the best cakes I have had. In fact, I ended up giving her # out to guests of our party, and packing to-go boxes with extra slices of her cake!! These are people who don't even like cake that were asking! lol! Yummy, affordable, reliable We chose to get 132 cupcakes instead of a full wedding cake. The shop was extremely responsive and had amazing value for what we got. We ordered 11 different varieties, both "standard" and "gourmet" flavors, plus rented a stand. With just under 2 weeks notice, the shop came through with some amazingly yummy cupcakes. Highly recommend! I needed a small cake for my sons third birthday. I contacted Mary the week before my sons party. With such short notice, she made exactly what I asked for. We ordered our wedding cake from Mary because she had wonderful ideas about how to incorporate our Harry Potter theme into the cake. We were blown away by how amazing it came out! It was also soooo delicious! Our guests loved the cake and it probably got more photographs than we did! Mary was very quick to respond to emails and questions. I requested a last minute 3-D cake from her for my nieces birthday which was the day before our wedding and she was completely ok with it. She even delivered it personally, which I thought was such a nice gesture! All of the cakes we ordered were so moist, with a perfect amount if sweetness. I am writing an update because Mary's attempted to rectify the situation by reimbursing us. In regard to the owner's comments: I apologize for the mean spirited comments about it looking like it had been done by a child, I was frustrated. However, I was expecting a higher quality cake artistically, based on what I had seen on the website. Secondly, the cake couldn't have been donated to a hospital because by the time it would've gotten there it would've have been a puddle of frosting. Also, we had an agreement and we were expecting a good quality product. My party was in an hour and I had no other options. The bottom line is that yelp is used for people to share their experiences about a company. I appreciate that they are trying to make it as a business but there are some things that need to be fixed. I was letting people know my experience, which unfortunately wasn't the best. If they take some of the things I said and turn them into a learning situation they will be okay. I firmly believe they need to answer their phone, especially on days where you have an appointment for someone to pick up their product. May be provide a cell number for when a cake delivery is in process. People can be stressed the day of a party and the last thing they want to deal with is their cake being nowhere on site. Also, it seemed that the cake wasn't even made at the facility. If it had've been made at the shop then there wouldn't have been ANY problem with the whipped cream frosting because we were only going about 5 minutes away. With all that said, please use this as a learning experience, I think it's important that local business thrives. read more

I had previously ordered from another local cake place but was not impressed at all. This place came highly recommended by one of my coworkers so when it came time to order my boyfriends 25th birthday I knew where to go. I never thought I would ever have to give a bad review to a place that I really loved. My wedding cake back in 2011 was delectable and beautiful. Everybody loved it no problems. Booking a tasting and having exactly what I wanted done was great. This company has been constantly unavailable, closed, booked and for this final time that I try to order a cake on vacation. They say just two weeks in advance on there web site. I gave them two months in advance and was denied in a very "as Mary put it" unfortunate way, what is it going to take 6 months to a year in advance. I have referred four friends & family to Mary' Delicacies and they were unable to get a cake or cupcakes because of the circumstances. Yes Mary's Delicacies cakes are delicious but their customer care to me if you're not on their dime their time completely sucks. I give a zero rate. read more

My kids love her designs (specially since they pick what they want their cakes to look like) and all guests love the taste. People are always asking me where I get the cakes, so I'm giving out her name & number. This woman is AMAZING! I was ordering a bridal shower cake extreme last minute, and she was so busy and decided to help me out anyways! She is so nice, the shop is so cute! She had a weeks notice, the price was extremely reasonable, and the cake was GORGEOUS! Exactly what I had invisioned, and tasted like heaven! If it wasn't for her the shower would have been a total flop. I love this place! I was looking for a local bakery to do my boyfriends birthday cake and came across marys delicacies wesite, gorgeous! I wasnt sure what I wanted the cake design to be. After telling mary his hobbies she suggested a cake shaped as a sneaker, he loves shoes. When I came to pick up the cake I was amazed! It was soo realistic! I was literally speechless. It was beyond perfect. Needless to say he loved it. I highly recommend Marys delicacies, not only are the cakes great looking they also taste great! Oh and check out her store, adorable! We are very pleased with Mary's Delicacies. Aside from the edible heaven, as my family coined the cake, Mary is so warm; she's a kind soul and my little ones took to her almost instantaneously. We shared with her our vision; and between us and Mary, who we asked that she maintain creative power, the design was fun, fitting and attractive. While I mingled with our guests, I saw eyes rolling with pleasure, and was told the cake was "moist", "so fresh," and more. Our caterer, and a guest who caters events and also designs cakes, spoke very highly of the cake; and one said, "Even the fondant tastes good!" Mary delivered the cake just ahead of schedule, and carried it to the designated area. Our cake consisted of two different flavors and the extra sheet cake was a third flavor. Banana nut, marble, and chocolate chocolate chip with complementary fillings and frostings were all very pleasing to EVERYONE's palette. The only reason I didn't give this rating a five-star is because the initial communication (attempts) was seemingly problematic and I felt that the corners of the cake (fondant) should have been smoother/better connected.
