Absolutely stunning decors to start with. Got seated right away at almost 5pm during the weekend. Our waitress took our order immediately, we got a salad , patty duke melt, and pot roast diner. The salad was pretty underwhelming and the ranch was unfortunately just in a packet. The pot roast dinner was a smaller size portion but the flavor and cook was fantastic. The patty duke melt was mediocre and the fries weren't that great. The atmosphere is pretty great though. Overall not a place I would go to a lot but good for a neat time out. read more

Nothing homemade about it. Fake butter and syrup. The hash browns are the same shredded potatoes you'd find in a grocery store. It looks like a cool 50's diner designed by a corporation. The coffee was so bad, my wife walked across the parking lot to get Starbucks. Including us, there were only 5 people in the restaurant, yet our food was barely warm. The service was good. In summary, don't expect Mary to walk out of the kitchen and say hello. This is a local chain designed by a corporation to sell cheap, underwhelming food to families. read more

The menu had a good variety and decent prices. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Really cool setup and decorative. We ate in the mock train car section which was neat for our first time there. We were told this was one of 3 locations (Madison and Ashtabula). The quality of the food was perfect. I brought my own 100% maple syrup because very few places offer that (have you read the label on your syrup?). My wife enjoyed the place so much she took our daughter a few days later when she came to town. To friends of mine went there after I told them about it and loved the place as well. It may not be the closest place to go for people in Mentor, Ohio but it's well worth the few extra minutes to get there. Please offer real maple syrup is my only suggestion. read more

I've never had food taste like air before. Fake eggs from a carton, bacon and French toast tasted like nothing, hashbrowns raw. Slow service. Everyone very nice and would love to support local, but unfortunately we won't be back. read more

I went to a late lunch with my coworker at 3:45 pm. There was only one other table taken. We were seated right away and given menus. Our server came right over and took our drink order. When she arrived with our drinks, she took our order. After a short wait, we were served our meals. I ordered a cup of the cream of potato soup with the open-faced turkey sandwich. My coworker went with a cup of chili and Mary's big egg bowl. My soup was good, it was flavorful, and didn't need any extra salt or pepper. I was told the Chili was good as well. The open-faced turkey sandwich was good, the turkey was tender and juicy. There was only one slice of white bread underneath and that was fine, my only issue was there wasn't enough meat. The turkey was the star of the show, there just wasn't enough meat for what was charged. The mashed potatoes were creamy and cooked well. The gravy was tasty as well. Overall this is a good dish, if it had more meat, it would have been great. My co-workers egg bowl was very filling, it had everything in it. The flavor was spot on, and she was happy she ordered this. I have been to Mary's in the past and will return in the future, it is comfort food in a nice environment. Mary's Diner is always exceptional in both food and service! I'm a Jersey girl, so I can be picky about my diners, but Mary's always knocks it out of the park. My partner and I came in for brunch and were taken care of by Susan. She was always attentive and cheerful, and made good conversation while we ordered and waited for our food. She even gave us to-go cups for our coffee as we were preparing to leave! As for the food, you can't go wrong with classic diner food, and Mary's has found that sweet spot at a great price point. The restaurant itself is also delightfully charming, and its retro theming and decor are matched perfectly by the music playing throughout. Back in Concord on a Sunday for work. Got in early so I stopped for breakfast. Unlike lunch it was slow but also was early. The wait staff was pleasant and greeted me when entering. My waitress seats me with and menu and off to get my coffee. I scan the menu and see one of my all time favorites, country fried steak. I ordered that with eggs scrambled dry and added hash browns. I swear this place is going to make me gain all the weight I lost. As usual the food was awesome. The steak was cooked nice and crispy but not dry. The gravy was a real gravy not a lump of grease. The eggs and hash browns were a great compliment to the meal. The food is always awesome. But the service and atmosphere is phenomenal. Imagine going to a restaurant and every time being treated like the number one customer. That has always been the feel every time I have eaten there. Not sure if Ron is the owner or chef but he out there to make sure your meal is great. Stop in and enjoy. From breakfast to desert you will not be disappointed. Yes I like ketchup. read more

Went there after a track meet in Painesville, just looking for some good grub. We saw Mary's Diner and I have been to the one in Madison and was like let's go there. The wife and I tried the Mary's Burger. It's like a big mac but better. Enjoyed the tasty sauce and the burger was like a smash burger with a little crust on it, but that is what I enjoy in a burger. We got the pickle fries as an appetizer... different. It's like they took a pickle and ran it through the fry maker machine, battered, then fried. I enjoyed them, lots of good dill flavor in them. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the food and I think that is what a place like this is. Just good eats and a cheap price. Family of 3 for $45 bucks with drinks and an appetizer. Easy access from I-90. It's in a plaza about a mile from the exit. It is difficult to see from the road, it's tucked behind Starbucks. The diner is very clean. It is decorated like a 1950s diner. The service was great! Tammy, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. My wife and I both had "Mary's Mess". It's a combination of scrambled eggs cheese, peppers and onions served along with hash browns. It was very good. Tammy was kind enough to pour me a to go cup of coffee for the road. If you're traveling between Cleveland and Buffalo, this is great place to stop. read more

Atmosphere was great for reminiscing. My wife had the perch dinner and went with breakfast with Mary's Mess and open omelette. The perch was fishy tasting. She had the toasted Brussels sprouts. They had very little taste unless salted. Mary's mess was good. I threw in a chocolate milkshake. It was a little too rich as it was made with chocolate ice cream. Stopped here traveling to NY. Husband had burger and fries and loved. I had the chicken basket since it had a heart for favorite item and substituted fries for rings. Rings are frozen product-so disappointing and gave to husband Chicken was mediocre. Would have to give another chance next trip and order different items. What cute shiny diner atmosphere on the inside. Mary's is located in the shopping strip behind Starbucks. This was my first visit to Mary's Diner. Though I know the area it took me an extra minute or two to find it. The staff was friendly staff and provided good service. I was there for lunch. The BLT was delicious. The generous portion of crispy bacon was flavorful, tomato and lettuce were fresh and I believe I had a choice of bread. French fries came with my sandwich plus the coffee was good and hot. Mary's Diner is a wonderful place to go to. My wife and I stopped there for breakfast this morning. The waitress was spot on. She was there as soon as we sat down and asked for our drink orders. When she delivered our drinks she asked if we were ready to order. My wife ordered the country fried steak with an egg over easy, Texas toast, and no gravy. I had two eggs over easy, bacon, and an English muffin, a fruit cup in place of the potatoes. Both breakfasts were very good. The service was excellent, the place is new and very clean. The only negative I have is that it is not very handicap friendly outside. I use a walker to get around and maneuvering the curb with a walker can be challenging. When we were on the way out we saw ramps that we could have used, but they were at the far end of the building and not very well marked and it seem a bit far to walk using a walker. All in all I would definitely recommend this place because it has good food and good service. read more

Dave and Hailey run a very smooth restaurant, from being greeted by host and/or server when you walk in, to server grabbing your drinks when you sit dow, prices are fair compared to other restaurants in town, entire menu is very good (nothing bad about any of the food options), servers are always spot on with your order. The thing though that makes this location personable for myself is when they're available Dave and Hailey make rounds out in the dining room checking on everyone asking about their experience. Well didn't take long to get a seat. Got a drink fairly quick too. But then after that wait staff was non existent. 20 minutes later finally had someone take our order. But then again wait staff went MIA. Saw them running around like crazy but basically ignoring us at our table. At this point it has been an hour since we sat down. If kitchen was backed up just tell us. But nope no communication at all. When asked her miraculously our food was being "trayed up" . So suspect that our order was never put in. Also needed drink refill do you think someone would notice that again nope! Food finally came out and was hot and decent but nothing to make me want to come back anytime soon. But Like always we will give it a second chance at some point. read more

My brother is in from Louisiana for the week and my husband and I wanted to meet up for breakfast and thought he would enjoy this place. I so wanted to like this restaurant. The atmosphere is so fun with the 50's diner theme. My brother got the pancakes and wanted to order turkey sausage, since he doesn't eat red meat, but they don't have anything like that. My husband and I just ordered a simple breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon and home fries. I opted for fruit instead. When our breakfast arrived, it came with packets of margarine. We asked for real butter, but again, they don't use that here. We started to realize that not only was it a 50's theme, but they are serving food using the worst ingredients. My brother didn't like the taste of the pancakes and the fruit bowl I ordered had a weird taste too. Our server was was the highlight though. She was knowledgeable and attentive and so nice. Had the misfortune to go to this restaurant last evening. Got a card in the mail saying they were open in Concord. Having heard good things about their Madison location I decided to give them a try. Arrived about 5:45 and although busy we got seated right away at a table near the back of the restaurant. Took the waitress a bit of time to take our drink order but not overly long. She then came and took our food order. My date got a bacon,barbecue chicken breast that looked ok. I ordered the special which was chicken paprikas. What I was served was a huge disappointment. Small bowl of spaetzels with what looked to be half of a small chicken breast. I ordered mashed potatoes for my side. That was the highlight of the meal. Pies are apparently their speciality so I ordered a piece of apple pie. Under cooked and no flavor to the apples. The coffee was good. They had a Grinch character for the kids and everyone was going to the back of the restaurant for pictures which disrupted my meal. I could have asked to move but didn't. Waitress never refilled our drinks and for the money I should have had a refill of unsweetened ice tea. And for a special there should have been more food for the price. There were also other pasta intermingled with the spaetzels so I can only assume that they are cooking in the same water. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. The prices are ok if you get a normal serving. I was disappointed. Don't know that I'll be back. I've heard that the burgers are a better option. read more

I came to Mary's Diner for the first time this morning, and I was welcomed and greeted warmly from I believe one of the owners. The atmosphere was great, everyone was very friendly, and I looked forward to a delicious breakfast. I ordered the corned beef hash. I have ordered corned beef hash in other local restaurants, and I was expecting a visually appealing and tasty meal. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with both. The dish looked like pink mush, and tasted about the same. At other restaurants, the dish was topped with eggs, crispy hash browns, and plentiful amounts of corned beef. I has mixed feelings about writing this review, because other than the food (which is the most important factor in my experience) , everything else was wonderful. I will give them another chance, but I definitely won't order the corned beef hash again. read more
