Very good! The service was so friendly and they made sure we had hot coffee often. One of the few places with good breakfast food AND great coffee! Simple surroundings - white brick walls, plaid tablecloth, chalk menu boards, and CLE spirit on the walls. It feels like the cafe recently received a gentle face lift. You'll usually find the cafe quiet during early weekday mornings and very lively on weekends. Seating is limited to one dining room. If I had to describe this cafe in one word it would be unpretentious. FOOD: I visited this cafe plenty of times over the years. My favorite dish is lemon ricotta pancakes - perfectly zesty, fluffy, and perfect. I find the rest of the menu to be simple - Benedict, omelets, scrambled eggs, pancakes, burgers, and sandwiches. Early birds (7-10 AM, dine-in) get access to $7.99 value breakfast special. What a deal! My latest order included Meat Lovers Omelette ($11.32), Texas Toast ($0.50), and Hot Tea ($3.08). The price for omelette was different from the menu, listed as $12.99 in the menu. The up-charge for Texas Toast was not shared during ordering. The portion was pretty small, extremely light on the meat. Potatoes were cold. Toast was very small, and also not warm. The meal was not as good as during my previous visits. The tea was a small teapot of tea for $3.08. The tea was just Bigelow tea bags. The teapot did not look particularly clean. Pricing tea so high for tea bags is a strange choice. It seems like a very handsome profit margin. SERVICE: The service was really good and customer focused. In the past, the service used to be chaotic and mediocre. My waitress Anastasia was very warm, attentive, and anticipated my every need. She also informed me about the timing of the order. Huge kudos on service! Great change! PARKING: The main parking area is a parking garage on Coventry. The garage is city owned and free to use. There is also free limited parking in the area. Solid brunch and breakfast spot in Cleveland (Near Cleveland Heights). While shooting on location in Cleveland, I stayed in the CH area and found this little diner style breakfast spot. They close around 130pm so be sure not to sleep in too much! Great service and decent prices -- I recommend the Benedict -- they all seem pretty yummy. I've gotten the Eggs Benny with corn beef hash and lox. I sub the English muffin for a biscuit bc it's a better base. Good coffee, service, and food. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience calling Inn On Coventry this morning on Mother's Day. I called simply to ask whether reservations were being accepted, since it's a busy holiday and I was trying to be considerate and plan ahead. After waiting nearly 10 minutes and being told multiple times that there was no manager or supervisor available, I was eventually connected to someone who identified himself as Jeff. What was most concerning was Jeff openly admitting that he was the one who made the comment that "it's rude to ask if there are reservations." That response was surprising and honestly very disrespectful. Asking about reservations on a busy holiday is a completely reasonable question from a customer trying to support the business and avoid unnecessary inconvenience. When I attempted to express my concern, Jeff seemed completely uninterested in addressing the issue or acknowledging how inappropriate the interaction was. As someone who has visited this establishment numerous times and has lived on Coventry for the past 12 years, this experience has changed my opinion significantly. Customer service and basic courtesy matter, especially to loyal patrons. Because of this interaction, I will no longer be patronizing this establishment, nor recommending it to visiting family and friends. Have not been in a while but love their Lemon ricotta pancakes. Never had a bad breakfast or bad service!

We sat down at 7:30am on a Tuesday and were the only customers for almost 90 minutes. There used to be a line to get a table almost every day. I ordered a bagel with lox and cream cheese. Normally I would expect tomato, red onion, and capers to be on the plate with a bagel with lox. They did not bring any of these. The lox came in a small sealed soufflé cup, and was barely enough to cover one half of the bagel, much less both. My partner's omelette was decent, but nothing special. The inn on Coventry is a mid place. Not bad, just not great. They do great poached eggs and the hash browns are pretty crispy, but the coffee is always burnt/bitter. We got the poached eggs with crab cakes and steak with scrambled eggs. They patched eggs were very good, but the crab cakes were a little too fishy. Still good, but won't get again. The steak unfortunately was tasteless. Luke it had been boiled first and then grilled a little to warm it up, and very tough. Won't get again. The service was decent but the place was cold and loud. The food was great. Huge pancakes and the Benedict(s) were masterpieces. The cooks clearly are doing THEIR job. It really sucks because the establishment is cute, food was great, but the service was beyond subpar. It was relatively busy, so I tried to be understanding, but we made an order from our server and then saw her maybe one time after that. Someone else delivered our food, we had to ask for a coffee refill multiple times (from other staff members), only for it to be refilled once, halfway. I didn't receive my hot tea until after I finished the meal. Our plates were not taken away at any point, and it felt like ages before we received our check. The family that runs it is lovely. The staff are quite lovely. As will happen at many places, there is a new guard. Pretty young ladies and a young man that I have never have not seen not greet people with a big smile. They keep the place nice and clean and do get your food fast. But they charge you near 1st watch food for food that does not hit that bar. Nothing fresh about the orange juice drinks. No flavored cream. You can't go super healthy to super decadent. I do appreciate the brunch drinks for the weekend. I still tip well as the staff is worth it. But this used to be a place you had to wait in line to get in. We went on a Saturday and waited an hour for food that varied substantially from what was described in the menu, and from typical expectations. For example, "huevos rancheros" in the menu were actually a tiny little breakfast burrito on the plate--no mention of that in the menu. Both breakfasts were missing ingredients listed in the menu, or--per the waitress--the ingredients *were* included, just in such tiny quantities as to be imperceptible. We ordered two egg dishes, and a pancake for breakfast dessert. The pancake came out late and undercooked, but by that point we had already discussed the rest of the food with the waitress and it was clear that nothing would come of mentioning it. In any other restaurant, if food came that late and varied that much from reasonable expectations/descriptions in the menu, they would have offered to comp at least one dish--I've had entire meals comped for less, or been given gift certificates to come back, often without even saying anything, because the staff know when one table has been forgotten or neglected, or everything is running slow. Here, their excuse for the slow service was a full dining room and a lot of door dash orders. I will add that I am a pretty low-maintenance customer and NOT a complainer. I waited tables for years, have nothing but understanding and empathy for slow service and sometimes even crappy service (everyone can have a bad day, right?). And I always tip well. This is the first time in recent memory that I've tipped below 20%, and it wasn't because the food was bad (food was mediocre--edible, not gross, nothing to write home about, not a lot of flavor, small quantities). It was because, for a diner breakfast, it was inexcusably slow, the staff didn't take any responsibility for the situation, notice us, or offer any accommodation, and I had to repeatedly ask random staff for coffee refills (our waitress disappeared for a good while there). I had stopped going to Inn on Coventry maybe three years ago, when the whole place had this unbearable smell of mold for two visits in a row. This was my first visit back. The mold smell is gone, but even so, I guess I'll wait another three years before trying again. read more

The quality of Inn on Coventry has drastically declined over the years. 6 years ago, inn on Coventry was bustling no matter what day you came, and service was friendly and prompt, even with a full room. My most recent visit was a disappointment to say the least. Walking in the place smells of chemical cleaners. There were only 4 other small parties around 10:30 AM and we did not receive our food after 45 minutes of ordering! We were repeatedly told estimated time til our food was ready "10 more minutes" then after 10min, "4 min I promise!" Then after another 10 min "just waiting on the Club sandwich", then still no sign of food. How long does it take to make a sandwich? My favorite, homey, comfortable, and filling breakfast/brunch spot to come back to whenever I'm in cleveland! I used to live off of Coventry and am sad I never enjoyed the Inn more when I was there. Now whenever I'm in town I try to swing by. They always seat us right away and the service is quick and attentive. The most recent time I was there with a friend, we got the lemon ricotta pancakes and the lox Benedict. They were both AMAZING as always!! The lemon ricotta pancakes were so fluffy and soft, very filling and the perfect amount of sweetness. The lox Benedict was savory, soft, and packed with flavor. The Inn on Coventry is a classic brunch spot that is definitely worth visiting. I went to celebrate my friend's birthday and it was a great choice. All the brunch items are super affordable. I ordered the croissant sisterhood, which is essentially an eggs Benedict with smoked salmon on a croissant. It was $13 and the most expensive thing on the menu (aka everything else is quite cheap). It was delicious!! The croissant was buttery and perfectly toasted and the eggs were great. I wasn't a big fan of the potatoes, though. My friend ordered a scramble with chorizo and said it was delicious -- perfectly seasoned and packed with a kick. It was our first time checking the Inn On Coventry out today. I will say that I still have no idea who our server was because no server ever came to our table to take our order. I had to go to the gentleman (who was extremely nice and thank goodness for him!) at the front to say that it had been almost 30 minutes of sitting without anyone taking our order. He took it upon himself to come over and take our order because they were pretty busy. However, the 4 top that was seated after our four top and the four top that was seated just before us all had been waited on in an appropriate amount of time while we were left sitting. The food was pretty good. My stepson really enjoyed his Rueben and the sausage and biscuits were good. I enjoyed the mimosas! Entrees: My biggest gripe is their 'home fries', that comes with mostly every platter. They were essentially boiled potato pieces, with no crispiness whatsoever or any sort of seasoning. They were just bland and extremely underwhelming. Everyone had the same experience with their home fries on their plate. We all doused our potatoes with ketchup and tabasco to make it somewhat flavored. Besides from the disappointment of the home fries, my friends who got the pancakes (lemon ricotta) enjoyed them. I personally got the huevos verdes- the verde sauce was decent and the two eggs were poached well. It was topped with tomatoes, lettuce, and onions- a little more onions would've been nice! It was a decently sized portion for the price as well- $9. Overall, I wasn't a fan of the food. My friends gave around ~3 average for their food, but the value for the amount of food was reasonable. I probably wouldn't choose to come back, but if everyone else wanted to, I would maybe try a sweet breakfast item instead. This is my second visit in the past couple of months. This trip I ordered two pancakes (Blueberry and the other lemon ricotta). I was so happy with my order when the pancakes arrived. Both were out of this world delicious. The lemon ricotta was light and full of flavors. Right away the lemon zest hits your pallet. You might not even need the maple syrup. The blueberry was a nice contrast to the lemon ricotta as it was not as sweet. Again light and fluffy not a syrup soaked at all. The service was excellent and the food preparation was quick. My brunch plans were cancelled last minute so I had to find a place to salvage my day. So after a quick Yelp search I popped up at the Inn on Conventry. I arrived at about 1:30PM and was able to get on the list to get a table. Honestly, the place is small and the tables are close together. Good breakfast / brunch spot in the area. This place is very busy and it seems to be for good reasons. Our timing seemed to be very good because we were seated right away on a Saturday but there was a line the entire time we were there. It feels like a fairly typical college town brunch spot. Eggs benedicts seem to be their specialty. We got the eggs sausalito- one of the benedicts, a lemon ricotta pancake and a side of bacon. That pancake alone is worth multiple visits! The sausalito was also very good. The potatoes are bland and mostly went uneaten. Such a cute little breakfast spot! We came during COVID and wanted to sit outside, but we didn't see any more available tables outside. The inside is pretty small. Realized it'd been a year plus since we visited so we got up early and headed over to IOC on a Sunday morning. It was bustling but we were seated immediately! It's important for me to remember different people do different duties here so the guy who brings you your coffee isn't the guy who will take your order! However we had to wait over 45 minutes for our food to come out. During that time our server did not check up on us. It seemed like other diners around us either suffered the same long wait times or were served their food fairly quickly; inconsistentcy seemed consistent. We finished our food fairly quickly, however our server then seemingly disappeared. We had to wait an additional half hour to get ahold of our server to finally be able to pay and leave. Unfortunately , this is the fourth time I've come to enjoy breakfast here and this experience has happened again and again.
