I usually don't spend my time typing these reviews but i had the worst experience i've had in my life. I made an appointment to get balayage. I walked in showed her a picture of what i wanted and had to explain what exactly i wanted. I shouldn't have to explain to her how to do my hair that's what I pay for. I have dark brown hair and i ended up with basically a straight line of blond hair from my cheek down. I said forget it and said i wanted it back to my natural color. My stylist started that process dyed it back but kept taking other clients in between. I got up and said i wanted to leave with my dye in my hair still. I said I shouldn't have to pay the full price just the price of the dark brown dye. I got charged $89 just to leave with damaged hair. This is not the place to go bleach/dye/highlight your hair. read more

I'm really particular about how I have my hair!cut, as it's wavy and thick. So when I need to find a new hairstylist because either I or they have moved,, I usually have to go through two or three different hairstylists until I find one that I like. I had moved to to the Lemon Grove area a couple of years ago from Northern California, so I needed to find a new stylist. I just happen to come across Mary's Hair Design while I was shopping at another store at the strip mall where Mary's is located on Broadway. I thought, "Oh well, here goes!" I walked in and said I needed a haircut, and a pleasant woman, named Marie, greeted me and said she had a cancellation, and could to cut my hair now, if I would like. I happen to have a photograph of myself right after I got a haircut that I liked, that I bring with me when looking for a new stylist, so I can show them what it is that I want. I had been on the lookout for a new stylist, so fortunately I had the photograph in my glove box. It's a lot easier to show someone what I want, than trying to explain it, particularly with hair like mine. Marie did an absolutely fantastic job the first time she cut my hair, and I've been going there ever since. They seem to have a fair amount of business every time I go there, so I would imagine that all the other stylists are very competent, also. I highly recommend Mary's (and Marie) to anyone, male or female. If you happen to be a guy who's looking for a great haircut at VERY reasonable price, I would definitely recommend Mary's Hair Design (and ask for Marie). I used to pay $45 more for the SAME haircut, so this is definitely a good deal all the way around! read more

This was my first time coming to this salon, and Elly nailed it! I brought her a picture of an ombré hair color, as well as some clip on extensions that I use, and she matched it all PERFECTLY! If i could i wouldn't give them ANY stars. First and last time i take my children to get their hair cut there. Worst experience ever.. Not familiar with the name of the employees there. But the lady who cut my daughters hair did a horrible job. She was in a hurry to cut their hair because she was busy dying another clients hair. So she was back and forth. She charged me $2 extra each for their hair cuts because they were a "style". One of my daughters wanted just a trim "a V".Her hair was long passing her armpits. She left her hair in layers and short up to her shoulders. On my other daughter she wanted a bob. Short from the back and long from the front. Looks like i cut her hair. Someone with no experience. Amd finally my other daughter asked to cut her ends. The damage hair. Again. She left her hair as if i got scissors and cut it blindfolded. Not the experience ANYONE wants to go through. read more

I have been going to Norma for a few months now and she really knows how to cut my hair so that I look my best! She listens to me and gives me exactly what I want!
