I've been here a few times to get a hair trim. Initially I liked the hair trim and the price was right. This time not so much, Ray pretended to cut my hair but really did not even trim the ends. I was watching him pretend to cut my hair. I noticed that there was ABSOLUTELY NO HAIR dropping on the floor!when I asked him about it, because there was literally NO HAIR on the floor, he said the hair must have blown away!! Such an insult to my intelligence! Ray lied to my face like I'm a total idiot and did not trim or cut in any way my hair and still charged me. I will never come back here again. read more

Was reccomended to Ray by a friend and he was super nice got me in right away made me feel comfortable we had a good consult and got started, I asked for full highlights and agreed we'd cut about 3-4 inches off my hair and add layers. I do like the color but think the cut is pretty bad, the service did not come with a blow dry/ style so when I got home and straightened my hair I noticed the layers are super choppy one thing I expressed to him is that I didn't love that the last lady that cut my hair left a big "shelf" in my hair and he did the same. I'm going to have to let my hair grow out before I try to cut it again in the mean time I guess I will be curling my hair to hide the mess. read more

Let me start with my experience with a great hair stylist - my twin sister (who we don't even talk anymore) is such an awesome hair stylist! She had mad skillz with cut AND color which is such a rare gift in the hair salon industry of which I have been all to familiar with in the past! My hair has been black and white Shakira style (with no black bleed on my platinum white - thank you sister!) Red and white, purple, black, brown and carmel with blonde highlights... ladies (and gents) you name it I have had it... and I would get compliments - that's an important part since you can have color and no one say a word to ya! HA! I've had long hair with long layers and face framing layers so I understand a top notch cut where the stylist take the time to pull out the different hair layers and cut... now, as a stay-at-home mom the budget does not include fun color or fancy cuts... so I usually just let my long hair get ridiculously long - to my butt before this cut! But who cares - it's usually in my mom bun on the top of my head! LOL! Then I let it down like Rapunzel when my hubby comes home! HAHAHAHA... So, my really good friend Marissa (her review is in here too) told me about her style guy Ray (Raid). Her hair is pretty cool - the thing I like the most about her hair is the color. I thought- whatever - the price is right and I have enough long hair that if I cut it just 6 inches - a good cut or bad - eh... who cares.... my friend watched my boys and I headed off to cut my hair with my daughter. He washed my hair with un-labled hair product (it did smell good and worked good). Brushed my hair smooth. Asked me a couple of times before he cut - knowing long hair people are a little more timid in cuts... we agreed 6 inches. He showed me on a comb - but not the kind of comb that most stylist use to measure. He cut straight across the back. Pulled some hair in the front of my face and made sure it was even. Then done. $16 bucks. Eh, ok - you get what you pay for. I am just so formerly spoiled with the detail cuts. He did the same thing with my beautiful daughter for $13. Great points about Ray/ Raid. He is very nice and operates a humble and welcoming salon. He doesn't over cut or over price. It is a fun experience. He has a ton of repeat business and is busy which is also a good sign. The lady who was before me had great hair! My friend Marissa's hair is really cool looking too. He might be really strong at color. He has been in the business for a long time so that says something too. But MY experience was fine - but I have had better. ***TIP! Look at reviews then check out their photos and if you like their hair... photos tell a better story right?!?! I also like to look at other places that the reviewer has reviewed. If I find a place that I gave 2 stars and they gave 4-5 stars... we probably have different standards! read more

This review is solely for eyebrow threading. I wanted to like it, but I was so disappointed. My eyebrows were still too thick. They were cleaned up, but not nicely shaped like every other place I had been to. I should've said something more but when I wanted it to be a bit thinner, I was dissuaded so I didn't feel as if I should ask for anything more. And afterwards, I'm used to the esthetician showing me the results, but sadly I was not. I went straight to my car afterwards and noticed all the parts I didn't like. I've been going to Ray andVeronica for years and I drive from Chula Vista to go there! They are so warm and welcoming. It is nice to get your hair done and be treated like family. I get my hair and my 15 year old son's hair cut plus occasional streaks. Ray takes such time to be sure I'm happy with the color - did low lights one time when some streaks weren't as subtle as I wanted- didn't charge extra. You see how both take such care to make my son's cut perfect. And how nicely they do his eyebrows for free! If Eva Z thinks $16 is too much for a haircut, go to a beauty school to get your hair massacred or drive to TJ. You zing them because he didn't charge you more when your hair was long? The fact that they have several clients going at one time shows you they keep busy and try to help everyone that comes in. Ray is an amazing hairdresser! He makes sure to take care of his clients hair and cares for the long term health of your hair. I wanted highlights but was hesitant to put all the chemicals and bleach that normal hairstylists use. I have been coming here for over 15years. (Recently changed locations a street up) No one but Ray cuts and colors my hair. He is amazing at what he does. I just cut and colored my hair and I love love the my healthy locks! And I have to add, when I go in for a trim, it's only a trim! He doesn't chop off all my hair like a lot of ppl say happens to them with other places. I never have to wait long. I usually call in advance and schedule an appointment.
