Was at the Buena Brewery last night, and stumbled on "Marys Mobile Diner". i thought it would be a standard food truck with fried items. absolutely not! There was a tight menu ( if you're familiar w food service - small menu = more time and attention on the food and quality) and she even offered two kids options that weren't listed! (as i had little ones with me who weren't going to touch a italian pulled pork slider - i inhaled mine YUM) I ordered two platters, with an option of adding a side. italian pulled pork sliders w macaroni & cheese - UNBELIEVABLE. idk what kind of sorcery she has going on but i felt like i was sitting at my moms dinner table. it was delicious. Mary is hands on, and proud of what she's serving. caprese grilled cheese - this felt gourmet. it was so so good. i ended up air frying it in the middle of the night & tasted like i'd just ordered it. While visiting Spellbound Brewing today, I came across a food truck that I had never encountered before; Mary's Mobile Diner. The menu was comprised of under ten total items, but it included a little bit of everything for everyone. I decided to give the meatball parmesan a go; I did not regret it. I also ordered a side of the creamy mac and cheese, and the employees offered some bacon on top of it for free! We went inside the brewery to sit back down, and within about ten minutes they actually came in and hand-delivered our food; some of the absolute kindest people. All in all, the food was incredible, the service was amazingly friendly, and my experience was nothing short of spectacular. The owner/operator is not the friendliest or most welcoming business owner I've met. She, along with a few other food trucks, service the office complex where I work. My company has been giving out tickets to buy lunch with a maximum allowed spend of $6.50. When many of my colleagues went to use them at Mary's, they were met with derision and passive-aggression. Other times, I have gone up to her truck and been met with an attitude that equated to "Why are you bothering me," complete with huffiness and eye rolls. The food truck business is a people business. Did not expect to find this gem on a gloomy Saturday afternoon but luckily I did! Outside of Spellbound the smell alone stopped me in my tracks. I had to check this truck out and I had a hard time deciding what to get because everything sounded great. I ended up with the bbq pulled pork sandwich and it was stellar. Packed full of flavor on a soft as a cloud roll, I mopped this up with ease and if I did not have to leave I would probably have helped myself to another! I have to automatically give this 5 stars because the owner, Mary, is so great. She's very friendly, informative, and not a bad cook either. Mary provides fast and friendly service, along with chairs for your waiting convenience. For the quality of food though, you will not wait long! You can tell she loves the food she makes and her customers. Mary strives to keep her prices low and loves the fact that her customers can't decide what to order- a real problem when everything on the menu looks great! You'll find the typical breakfast foods (which you can get all day) including homemade tators, which you can add cheese and other things to. Don't forget to try your usual breakfast sandwich on the Texas toast. This was my first visit, so I have only tried one item and I can't remember the whole menu. But the things that stood out- hot and cold sandwiches (Chicken sandwich, BLT, turkey hoagie, Kielbasa, bbq pork, chicken, steak, etc...), Grilled burritos and quesadillas, grilled cheese on Texas toast (you can add pretty much anything you want to it, including pork roll), and a variety of burgers on Texas toast. There is even a list of additions you can choose to go with your sandwiches, including a separate list for "cheeses." I got the grilled cheese on Texas toast with bacon and tomato. I went with the classic American cheese on this one, and I loved it. The bread was a great consistency for the sandwich, the cheese was melted, and the bacon plentiful! I work across the street, and get tired of the same places for lunch everyday (there aren't that many right here). I am also a sucker for a food truck, so this is perfect. This is one of my favorite food trucks! They came to a local event in my town, The Harry Potter Festival, and I must say I fell in love! I got their pulled pork sandwich platter that came with chips for $10. It was WELL worth it! The pulled pork had the right amount of sauce and a lot of meat! Enough to fill me up! After eating half of it, I looked down at my sour cream. There was a LIVE MAGGOT squirming in it!! I went back to the truck and Mary tried scoop me more sour cream! WTF?!? Why would I want more maggot infested sour cream! That says a lot. I'm pretty sure she continued to serve that to other patrons after I reported it to her. Mary was very friendly. The person working with her was confused when I said I wanted a "sunny-side up egg". I found that odd considering this is a "mobile diner." I ordered hash with onions, peppers and cheese with a sunny side up egg. I just got hash and my egg. If there was onions and peppers, they were burnt to be unrecognizable. Mary is an awesome cook and she's very friendly. She is currently across the street from the American Red Cross off of Spring Garden. I tried her food and it was DELICIOUS! I had what she calls a scramble. It came with potatoes, eggs, cheese and a numerous amount of toppings (of my choice), including meat. I've had a tuna sandwich, that she makes with either herbs and mayo, or balsamic vinegar and herbs, and the best thing is, its straight out of the can, no pre-made stuff. It is to die for. I have eaten from this truck on several occasions. The food is made to order so you have to wait a few minutes for it, but totally worth it. The portions are big and come with fries! I can't even talk about this truck's food because I never have been able to actually eat it. That is part of the whole issue. My first would be encounter was last summer when my workplace had their monthly food truck luncheon and this truck backed out last minute and was replaced. My second was at an event in Medford, where the truck did show up, but I could not get my food. After ordering, we were eventually barked at that it would be a half hour. We went back to our vendor spots and when we returned, the food was not done and we were greeted with the same poor attitude, so I did not return again. And here we are, 3rd time's the charm, this truck was supposed to be at our workplace again this year and backed out at 11 PM last night "for a better gig." I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. My family and I were at Pennsauken 125 year anniversary and stopped there for something to drink. There were at least 4 people standing there attempting to order, apparently she was not prepared for a crowd at a food truck event. My husband ordered the drinks with a $20 in his hand and before I was even able to tell him I had change we got the worst attitude from the woman working there. She, out loud said " oh of course you want to buy drinks with a twenty" and rolled her eyes. I grabbed the money out of her hands and walked away. Mary is a great cook and a great person. I popped out of work the other day to try her cart for breakfast, and I was not disappointed in the least. I had a pork roll, egg and cheese (I got to pick how I wanted my eggs as well as the cheese) on Texas toast. I wish the sandwich was bigger because it was so good and I didn't want to cease experiencing the flavor. It was cooked perfectly. Mary's a sweetheart too. She did not hesitate one bit to introduce herself and proceeded to describe her passion for cooking after being in investment banking for so long. So I was scrambling at the last minute to find a food truck to feed 15 folks from New York coming to my office for the day and boy did Mary come through for me! Mary got right back to me when I contacted her and she quickly put together a great menu for my group. She arrived right on time and got to work. The truck is just what you would expect from a diner on wheels with fun oldies playing and "records" hanging up to complete the decor. This food is made to order so we worked out bringing folks out in small groups which minimized the waiting time. Everyone raved about the food, from the signature pulled pork sandwiches to momma's meatballs. My grilled cheese with veggies (mushrooms, carmelized onions and spinach) was delicious and made with love. Mary is very flexible with making changes to accommodate dietary needs, One of our guests is vegan and Mary made her a spinach salad with veggies and roasted tomato salsa that was much appreciated and enjoyed! Mary and her server interacted great with me and my guests and made this lunch a memorable event.
