She was charged for two packages of butter even though she only purchased one. She also had an issue with an item from a previous purchase that she had not received. My mother went into the store to politely ask for assistance in correcting these issues. Unfortunately, instead of receiving help, she felt that the employee she spoke with was extremely rude and dismissive toward her. The employee told her that she needed to come back another day and show evidence that the butter was missing or that there was an error. My mother was simply trying to explain the situation and get assistance with a charge on her receipt. The employee then told my mother to leave the store. When my mother questioned why she was being treated this way, the employee stated that she was a manager. I understand that employees and managers may need to follow certain procedures when handling receipt discrepancies. However, customers should still be treated with courtesy and respect, especially when they are calmly asking for assistance with a possible billing error. My mother should not have been made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome for bringing a legitimate concern to the store's attention. I would appreciate it if management could please review this situation, including the transaction and the employee's conduct. I would also like clarification on the proper procedure for resolving the duplicate butter charge and the missing item from the previous purchase. We shop at Grocery Outlet and would hope that customers can bring legitimate concerns to the store without being spoken to disrespectfully or told to leave... This is incredibly inappropriate!
