Tried new Masa Mesa in my old fave location- Eudora's. Sat at the patio bar and was promptly acknowledged. Food came out fast and fresh. They have a Salsa Station filled with several different salsas and sauces, picked onions, and I believe spicy sweet, pickled jalapeños? Will definitely revisit-- I need to try the Elote next time. * Chips and Queso: 9/10 - crunchy chips and thick yummy queso. * Classico (Mango) Margarita: 12/10- LOVE! I had mine made with Lalo Blanco. Taste like real mango margarita, none of that sweet & sour mess (didn't taste like it to me). * Banh Mi Taco: 7/10- Loved the pork belly but didn't give me the Banh mi flavor profile-- needed cilantro and carrot daikon needed to be pickled longer. * P&P Taco: 8/10- This had a great flavor with a hint of sweetness from pineapples (I think they're canned though, not sure..) * Tri-Me Taco: 7/10- Beef was tender but a tad salty also * Braised Black Beans: 6/10- Texture and flavor is perfect but a tad salty to me. * Corn Salad: 5/10- Too watery and acidic for my liking. read more

We had a large group and service was great. Food and drinks came quickly. I had the blueberry margarita and the cobb salad this time. I've had the nachos and the burger. I've never been disappointed. read more

Masa Mesa is a great place for lunch and dinner! We have been as an office a few times and it gets better every time we go!

We both had the Cubano. It's the very best in the Jackson Metro. It's a huge sandwich, big enough for 2 meals each. The flavor is a perfect combination of the mustard, pickle, ham, cheese, and pork loin. The bread isn't really "pan Cubano", but it's a delicious rendering of poor boy bread, pressed, of course. We got take out, but the service there was flawless. We WILL be back. read more

Ignore the entitled diners below. This is a fast casual restaurant akin to those like Aplos or Newk's but uses top quality cuts of smoked meat and seafood. Order at the front or from your table, assemble your sauces and fix your own drink. I don't understand how people can't grasp this. Oyster taco is a favorite of ours. Haven't tried the cuban but I saw it come out and it is enormous. They have a full bar, too. Masa Mesa is in our weekly rotation for sure. read more

TERRIBLE STAFF AND ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Went in at 6 so we could do brother's birthday. Restaurant deserted but still seated the 7 of us at a table for 6 with two squashed in on an end. No balloons allowed, no cake allowed. No candles. Small menu with weird assortment of cuisines. When they told us we each had to place our order and pay at the register, we all left and went next door to Sal and Mookie's, where we were treated like royalty and the whole restaurant (50 people?) yelled and clapped and sang Happy Birthday. I was really excited about this place, but was unimpressed. The service model, while hard to complain about, was very unimpressive. A recommended 20% tip was made, but that level of service was on par with your local whataburger. Drink portions were small, but that was actually fine. They were small, but strong, drinks that were easy to drink. After the drinks, the salt came. The nachos were salty: the pickled jalapeños, the beans, the queso, the sauce, the chips. Each individual component was, by itself, too salty. The Moroccan lamb taco was fine. For $7, it tasted like lamb on a taco. The meaty component of the dish was good but wasn't quite tied together with the rest of the ingredients. The chorizo burger struck a rare combo of small portion sizes and near-inedibility. 2 chorizo patties on a burger was too much, although maybe in concert with the right ingredients, one patty might have provided meaningful flavor. For a company whose restaurants are held in such high regard, this was a disappointment. I won't be coming back. read more

I did not listen to any other review here which was my first mistake. I ordered one beer 2 tacos, and nachos. The nachos came out within 45 seconds of ordering which was a big red flag, they were stale and soggy. Both tacos were $7 each, and were overly done Mexican style tacos that tried to incorporate other cultures for some reason, and it did not work. The only good thing of this meal was my beer and even then it was $8. I shouldn't have listened to my co-worker, should've listened to the reviews! read more

Food was really good but ordering by phone/barcode is horrendous and service is TERRIBLE! The "waiter" that brought our food opened up our taco with his bare hands when we asked which one it was and then was VERY defensive when we were appalled that he touched our food at the table. I've never seen such! Another "waiter" brought quac to our table that we did not order - but insisted that we did. He was so outdone with us that we just let him leave the guac. I've never been treated so poorly by a waitstaff. So disappointing! read more

Masa Mesa was a big miss for us tonight. It was LOUD, with the ambience and prices of a wing joint in the Atlanta airport. The staff seemed sad and uninterested. There was nothing special about the 16 dollar burger except the outrageous price. The guac was rotten avocado brown, the salad was lettuce heavy and had little in it other than all that lettuce. Everything was served on disposable plates. We had to launch a search party to find the flimsy napkins and plastic utensils. Once found, the salsa, condiment, napkin, utensils, and drink area desperately needs a professional with the skills of Temple Grandin to work on the flow, some signage, and someone there to keep things tidy and sanitary. We had high hopes for this Emerson enterprise, but it was a big miss for us at masa mesa. We spent nearly forty dollars a person for a simple meal and a beer at a pretty much a self serve joint with zero ambience and food that was nothing special. Will we be back? I am not sure. read more
