This was a super unique spot, and we were beyond glad to have visited it! We only had a fifteen minute wait (tho we went pretty late at night), and we spent our time exploring the garden and taking pictures on the bridge. Their crab angels were absolutely DELICIOUS- it was the best crab Rangoon I've ever had in my life. Genuinely. Our entrees were also very very good. I'm a pescatarian, and they had wonderful veggie options that I really enjoyed. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive as well. I can't recommend Indochine enough! From start to finish, my experience here was fantastic. The highlight for me was the roasted duck curry--it's a beautiful balance of flavors. Sad because realistically we'll never get a chance to go here again. We are on a road trip and happen to be passing by the area when we got hungry. I'll start by saying that we go out often enough but the garden in the back completely blew us away. It was like we entered another country when we went through the doors. I'm talking about little eating huts, Buddha statues, a koi pond!!! On to the food which, I'll preface this by mentioning we're from nyc where most people think we have the best of everything lol. This place proves me wrong!! Pad Thai!! Best I had. The wife had the Buddha in a nest which isn't something I would typically enjoy but it was so flavorful I have to admit I would get it next time as well. Our server was superb. We picked up on the fact that he didn't have an accent and he told us he's from New Jersey but he's working on his "ya all" slang lol. Great guy, everyone in the entire establishment was very friendly and welcoming which we love about the south. I've heard so much about Indochine in Wilmington--between TikTok and word of mouth, the hype is real. I tried to go on Valentine's Day but the 2-hour wait was a no, so I was excited to finally experience it. The ambiance is beautiful--colorful, cozy, and it really makes you feel like you've stepped somewhere special. The service was great as well--attentive and even had a bit of humor, which made the experience more enjoyable. We started with the sampler appetizer, which was perfect for two and a great way to try a variety of items. For my main, I went with the tom yum soup to save room for dessert, but it fell a bit short--flavor was mild and the portion was smaller than expected for an entrée. My husband ordered the Happy Asian Melody, which was good--fresh ingredients, generous portion, just a bit heavy on the sauce. Now the highlight--the coconut cake absolutely lived up to the hype. Moist, flavorful, and not overly coconutty. Paired with the coconut ice cream, it was the perfect ending. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it. My cousin and brother came to visit from out of town! I was so excited for them to see this amazing side of the city. The outdoor seating is just incredible, it's like being transported to Indonesia right here in Wilmington. I didn't manage to snap photos of all the delicious dishes we devoured because we were too caught up in conversation and enjoying the food. But seriously, if you haven't been there yet, you absolutely must go - it's a solid 10 out of 10 all around. I came in for lunch on a weekday and was surprised by how busy the place was, but it is very telling of how beloved this place is. My waitress was very friendly and helped me make my decision on what to get. The food took a while to come out, but was definitely hot and fresh when I got it! I've heard SO much about this restaurant and finally got to try it. It was nothing less than all the hype! This restaurant is so beautiful and reminds me so much of my home; Vietnam. We went at 6PM on a Saturday and the wait was about 10 minutes so we went to the gift shop while we waited. It is so cute in there! They have a variety of Asian themed gifts all at different price points and I was obsessed with looking at everything. Staff is really nice and our waitress was so sweet. She made sure to keep checking on us and packed up our food for us herself. I highly recommend sitting out doors for the private pavilions as it's beautiful, spacious, and intimate. Food was impeccable! I am not an appetizer person at restaurants but decided to give it a shot. The appetizer sampler is tooo good and gives you a slice of their best. This is a great place, with great food, and great staff. Indochine had been on my bucket list for quite a while. So, much to my pleasure when my family surprised me with a road-trip to Wilmington. The central location of Indochine and the plentiful parking are all additional perks. But, the food was the show stopper. Everything we had from appetizers to drinks were delicious. The food is good but we waited an hour and 10 minutes for it after waiting 40 minutes for a table. My pad see ew came out sort of congealed, so I know it had been sitting. Got our checks, hinted we would like to hustle out of here but waitress took our cards and proceeded to take 3 tables orders while we sit and wait for our checks. What an eclectic restaurant! Lots to look at of the Thai culture. The food is huge portions and very good. However, I didn't like the Mango and Sticky Rice. I've been to Thailand and know how it should taste. It wasn't bad but it didn't hit the spot. The server switched it out for a cheese cake which was delicious. I didn't get our servers name but she was polite and explained what came with our meal. The bathroom is clean yet very tiny. Part of the bathroom is a small seating area. Very quaint. So yummy! Every time I come to Wilmington I have to go here. Always a long wait in the evenings at dinner time. We got there at 5:35pm on a Friday and there was no wait, earlier is better for dinner! The different rooms/buildings indoors are super cute. The garden is also super cute and cozy. Sat at the bar once alone which was awesome, friendly staff! The perfect ambience for a Thai Vietnamese restaurant. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I was acknowledged when I entered the door. My orders for beer and appetizer, and my entrée came out pretty quickly. The Cha Gio was 6 crispy fried wraps with a mostly fish dipping sauce. My main of Pad Ki Mao was a delicious chicken and shrimp rice noodle stir fry with vegetables. I stuck with the standard medium heat since it was the first time for me in this restaurant. I loved this place back when I was in college in 2008. So for my beach trip this year, I wanted to come back and relive old memories. I was a little disappointed. The place looked the same: unique decor throughout the main dining area and in the back, outside seating in a beautiful garden. My party sat outside for dinner. I DO NOt recommend this because one: the chairs outside are made of wood/bamboo- they splinter and I got one in my finger; two: the place is swarming with mosquito!!! If mosquitos love you, stay inside!! Between my daughter, son and I, we had over 30 mosquito bites even before we received our appetizer. We requested to move inside, but they were busy and weren't fast enough to accommodate us until after our entrees arrived. So we had to move ourselves and our own food to the new table. I was too busy scratching and swatting mosquitos to really enjoy the food. Order: egg rolls, seafood bird nest, salmon, mango sticky rice, banana eggroll ice cream. I can only recall my husband complaining that the salmon wasn't seasoned enough. Aside from the bad outdoor seating experience and the lack of urgency from the staff to fix the trouble, I think their food is worth trying out; indoors or to-go. read more
