17 dollar shrimp tempura roll on the right
    Craig W.

Mainly a take out place during the week and packed on the weekends. Ordered a shrimp tempura roll and to my dismay it was only 5 pieces and literally one shrimp cut up and spread across the roll. Do not understand how it was $17.00- what a rip off. Charged an extra 3 dollars for soy paper/ this roll couldn't fill a small child. The ocean roll is cheaper with salmon and more pieces. Time to write them off if they are going to overcharge customers. The sushi is good but not worth the price. Lots of other reasonable places nearby.

Service are always nice. Easy to get a table at 12:45pm on a weekday. Food was delicious! Coming back again.

I came here with my parents about 10 years ago and today my husband I decided to try since we were in the area. Not much as changed which I really appreciated. Vibe & Service: Excellet service, all the wait staffs are super friendly and very attentive. Inside is very cozy and warm. Food: Has a wide variety of fun appetizers to choose from. (Cold as well as fun hot appetizers and January specials). We ordered 3 appetizers: shrimp agedashi tofu, port cutlet with egg and onion (katsuni), and crab croquette. Appetizers: 4/5 Our favorites were croquette and katsuni. Super flavorful and croquette was extra crispy. Def did not need the tonkatsu sauce that it comes with. Agedashi tofu was a bit dissapointing as the there was too much sauce for the tofu and it lost its crispiness. The sauce had not much flavor. Main dish: 4/5 We ordered futomaki, dragon rolls, and nabeyaki udon. Our favorite was nabeyaki udon. Amazing udon broth warmed up our soul and noodle was very nicely bouncy and cooked well. Worked beautifully with the clams, chicken, and mushrooms. Dragon rolls was fresh and beautifully made. The only disappointment was futomaki which lacked a bit of sweetness. Overall, we agree that we would def come back. I would def try their omakase next time. It is a cute, homey Japanese place that will def warm up your soul with a nice hot udon and array of fun little appetizers!

The food is delicious and fresh. Staff is attentive. Tea is served nice and hot. Seems the locals frequent here. Making reservations is a good idea because they asked if we had any, and we did not, but quickly had us seated. Working 10minutes the restaurant was full and people waiting outside to get seated . This was around 6pm Sunday.

really nice quality sushi in a nice quiet town. I was really surprised by the freshness if the fish. I ordered off of the al la carte section and got the fatty tuna, tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and sweet shrimp. All were really delicious! We also got the eel over rice which was decent but not very high quality eel (reminds me of the eel you would microwave in the pre-marinated packets). Lastly we got the crazy roll which is a specialty roll $20 and it was HUGE. Really delicious roll and the best part was I didnt feel sickened by the fish at the end. One negative is the water tastes soo horrible im shocked they even serve water like that. Anyways highly recommend for sushi, hard pass on the water though!

Masa is one of the few sushi places nearby still open for takeout or delivery. We normally don't go to Masa because we perceived as much more pricey than our normal place. But since our go-to wasn't open, we decided to give Masa a try. The food was fresh and amazing and the bill was just a little more than what we'd normally pay. My favorite was the duck tenderloin appetizer...so good and a menu offering not available at our other place. Pick up was pretty easy, with the option to have them put the order in your trunk curbside. Hope these guys survive this crisis because we'd love to dine here again.

    Sushi/Sashimi Omakase

Wonderful Authentic Japanese Food! We started with the Agedashi Tofu with Shrimp. It was delicious, generous with the shrimp and a reorder on our next visit. We then ordered the Sushi/Sashimi Omakase which was fantastic. There was nothing on the plate that wasn't beautiful, and tasty. The fish was superb, the fatty tuna melted in my mouth. The only drawback of the Omakase was the portuon. I was still peckish after eating. It came with a salad but could have used a bowl or rice, or maybe a dessert. We also ordered the Spicy Tuna roll, which was a bit disappointing. It was too subtle in flavor for our liking, but everything else was perfect. We also ordered the Chicken Tonkatsu which was juicy and full of flavor. Perfectly prepared! We look forward to going back and trying more of their dishes.

Amazing quality food this is now my new favorite sushi place!! Everything was so fresh and I loved the generously sized sashimi. Staff was so friendly and attentive. Also appreciated how they served actually drinkable water rather than tap water, unlike many other restaurants. Can't wait to be back!

A nice sushi spot nestled in downtown Allendale. The restaurant has ample seating and street parking is not too difficult to find. The staff was friendly and took care of my party of 8. They were attentive and came often to check on us. The menu is extensive and also offers seasonal specials. For the most part, the food was very good. Though I didn't love the sushi and Nabeyaki udon. I thought those were average to below average when compared to other similar Japanese restaurants in the area. What we ordered: 1. Grilled beef tongue (A) 2. Tatsuta Age (A-) 3. Agedashi Tofu (A) 4. Grilled Mackerel (A-) 5. Sushi for two (B-) 6. Nabeyaki udon (C+) 7. Seafood yakisoba (B) 8. Sea eel tempura (A+) 9. Grilled eggplant w/ yuzu miso (A-) 10. Salmon donburi (A-) 11. Tempura ice-cream (A) 12. Green tea tiramisu (A-)

Gave this place a try twice and both times the rolls were overwhelmingly filled with rice, very little tuna or salmon.

Typically I am in the ever-most agreeance with Billy Shake; however, this is a law that applies to some but not all. This law should not be applied here. Master of nothing. And Jack of a farcical fusion trade. The epitome of, yea that was an OK dinner. The Thai food is bland, the Chinese food is underwhelming, the sushi is actually fine. I grew up spoiled off of the well-rounded juggernaut named Jumbo of Airmont who did EVERYTHING well. Iykyk sista. Red Bowl couldn't even fry their rice. Could never chicken their broccoli. Wouldn't dare to lace their lo mein. Which is a shame, because sometimes you want a dynamic dinner of all the above: Chinese and sushi and thai but oh my the sharks out of the water here. Broke through the waves but just can't walk on the land - Even though it so would like to. Evolution takes millenniums. And God chose the homosapiens, go complain to the aliens. I honestly thought they might have just put spicy mayo in the roll and forgot to add the spicy salmon. I will never return, the spicy salmon here made me lose all faith. Speaking of the food, let's get into it. Mango Avocado Roll: Refreshing and Delicious. This was a great appetizer to my poke bowl. Oasis Poke Bowl: This was deliciously refreshing as well, however it doesn't come with any sauce. I asked for a side of teriyaki which made everything better; elevated the entire bowl. Surf N Turf: I will order this moving forward as my go-to roll. The beef was cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with the salmon. This roll itself filled me up, I thought I was going to order something else but I was done after that. Salmon and Shrimp Teriyaki: My partner gets this each time and I am always so excited to throw my fork into his plate. The teriyaki sauce here is so tasty, I want to put it on everything! The salmon and shrimp are also cooked super well, no chewiness here. Great amount of crisp on the salmon, the way it slides onto the fork is beautiful to watch. Vegetable Gyoza: The star of the show!! Best appetizer they have truly. I was so sad when there was no more. But thankful to have been able to experience such a great starter. Sweet Potato Roll: (Not pictured) The roll was ok, I liked it but felt like it was missing something. Maybe I would have liked it if it was Korean sweet potatoes. I won't order again because the menu is so extensive I can't limit myself to something I thought was ok. (4/5) Overall, Shokudo is a fantastic place to eat. It's truly an experience.
