This place is amazing not sure why it's 3.4 only when definitely should be higher or people don't take their time to rated it and help others. I've been there maybe 15-20 times and honestly not even once I was disappointed. Sushi's are delicious and fresh my favorite is Boston Bay and Mango Hawaii but honestly everything is super good and very friendly environment and clean.

Well we came back again.... because ya know. I'm a convert now. This place never ever disappoints. It is so good. I'm so afraid to try sushi anywhere else because my peeps keep telling me this place is amazing and other places don't come close. So why fix it if it ain't broken.

We came to Masago for sushi and everything was really fresh! The service was so well - they were very attentive in refilling our glasses of water and giving us lemons when we asked for it. The sushi was very quickly served and I loved their Singapore noodles. Everything tasted really amazing!

Nice sushi spot! The sushi pizza appetizer was delicious. A great appetizer. The sushi we had for dinner was good but a little mediocre. Service was great! Very nice waiters and waitresses. Ambiance is cozy.

One of my friends recommended Masago to me and I couldn't have been happier that they did! First of all the price is unbeatable. Salmon avocado rolls are usually at least $7 but here they are $5. The quality of the sushi is also unreal and I could taste the freshness of my salmon and in my shrimp tempura rolls. The restaurant was super clean and the staff were super friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough, 10 out of 10!

This sushi was soo good . Pros : the location was nice , the service was good very attentive. The food was amazing the sushi was so fresh and delicious. It literally was properly made and beautifully plated. I can tell the chef ‍ took their time making and preparing our dishes . Cons : none * I wish they had hot sake lol* Price : very affordable . For 2 people our bill was only $55 and we got a lot of food ! Very good

This is hands down my favorite sushi in the area. The rolls are big, the sushi is always fresh and the prices are great. The ambiance is casual. The service is good, the staff is always very friendly and does not rush you.

We happened to stumble upon this place in Ridgewood for dinner, and really enjoyed it! All we knew is we really wanted sushi. It has a really nice interior with lighting behind this stone/brick-type wall that was cool to see. The service was very attentive--I remember us being shocked how we finished dinner so quickly. It was also very reasonably priced for sushi! I got the Six Flags Special Roll and it was soooo good! Well worth the price! Overall, I highly recommend Masago!

Another gem we've found living in the burbs. We love going out for some AYCE sushi but after discovering Masago, we enjoy just ordering a platter to go. While it's a 20 min drive for us, we find that it's nice to order while heading out and by the time we get there it's ready to go. Service is always excellent smooth ordering and never an issues. Masago is on the smaller side but a very cute place. Decent amount of tables to eat in. When we first started ordering from them it would be 50% off if you paid with cash and now you can pay either way and it's the same price which is nice because we don't always carry cash. Solid recommendation for anyone in the area that's in the mood for sushi!

I don't know why this place doesn't have more good reviews! First of all, Masago is extremely reasonably priced. We came here for Father's Day dinner with six people and were shocked at how low our bill was. The place is BYOB and their menu is very large, with a ton of original signature rolls. I started with the sushi special appetizer which was absolutely delicious. They were also able to modify the Naruto Roll for me to replace the cucumber with sushi rice. All of us were very happy with the dinner and accommodating staff! Absolutely would come back.

Really great local sushi spot! The fish was so fresh and they have a great variety of roll options. I love that they didn't use too much rice, like many restaurants do. Service was very good and waiters were super pleasant! Would come back when in the area again.

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Solid sushi, nothing spectacular, but hits the spot. ++++ Sushi Regular fish was relatively fresh on the sushi pieces, 8 in total. It also came with a choice of a regular roll. ++++ Spicy Maki Combo, which consisted of any 3 spicy rolls, did not taste or look like spicy rolls. They just looked like regular rolls, but they were still decent. There were only 4 spicy rolls to choose from though, of which I chose the Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon and Spicy Yellowtail. ++++ Chicken Udon was surprisingly VERY good. Even though it was just a simple chicken udon, the chicken was quite flavorful and tender. Broth was your typical miso broth/soup. Blu Sushi is the perfect mix of deliciousness, affordability, and fantastic service. I've gone there for my lunch around three times these past two weeks and each time I've had a wonderful experience. Their lunch special is super affordable. You can get 2 rolls for the less than I spend for one at many of the other restaurants in Ridgewood. However, despite that, it honestly tastes the best out of many of the places I've gone to. Also, if you are up for spending more, they have a fantastic selection of appetizers and special rolls that you can try again (I recommend the dynamite shrimp). When I go, I normally get the 2 roll option from the lunch menu. Typically, I have the spicy salmon and the spicy tuna rolls when I order that. Regarding those rolls, they are first and foremost delicious. You can tell that fresh their fish is and how much time and dedication they put into their sushi with each bite. Furthermore, they are spicy--but not too spicy. When you have them you are able to enjoy every aspect of the roll without being completely overwhelmed by the spice. Additionally, they add something crunchy to the rolls which take them from just a tasty lunch to a full experience. Most importantly though, the service and ambiance is fantastic. Every time I've been there I've only been treated with kindness and consideration. They are very willing to talk with you about their dishes, share some interesting facts about it (like how they came up with the dynamite shrimp), and more. But the best part about it is that they remember you. That honestly meant a lot to me. I know that this whole review was a lot of me ranting, but I honestly mean it. If you are looking for a nice, quaint, delicious, affordable, and hospitable meal--Blu Sushi is the place for you.

Fish was very fresh though and presentation was excellent. + Spicy Salmon, Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Cooked White Fish - Shocked at how good the rolls actually were. There was only 1-2 layers of rice, at most, around the sushi and there was a lot of fish filling for the rolls. Fish was very fresh and delicious. Also, once again, presentation of the entree was excellent. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Friendly waitresses throughout the staff. + Food came out fairly quickly. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Not a huge restaurant, but spacious enough with a few tables for 4 and a few tables for 6. Yet in many Japanese restaurants, I've found that no matter when I revisit and order their omakase, the dishes, from appetizers to sushi and sashimi, all remain the same. Thankfully, this was not the case at Shumi. Here, the chefs truly strive to create edible masterpieces. I had the pleasure of enjoying innovative appetizers along with nigiri that simply melted in my mouth. Shumi's omakase was once priced at $150 per person, but in a thoughtful move to accommodate their customers, they adjusted it to $95 per person without compromising the quality of their fish. I will note that the pieces are smaller, but they still deliver the freshest taste. The staff is exceptionally gracious, dedicated to ensuring a wonderful dining experience. They are quick to replenish your tea or fill your glass as soon as it's half empty. I did, however, find the restaurant a bit chilly, and the music was a little too loud, making it difficult to hear the staff as they described each type of fish. For those who followed Master Chef Kunihiko "Ike" Aikasa from the original Shumi in Somerville, he sold that business before opening this new location in Ridgewood, which has been open since 2017. Here, he has partnered with owner David Seo. The aesthetic of the new restaurant remains clean and bright. In a competitive town like Ridgewood, where locals expect restaurants to bring their A-game, Shumi has obviously stood the test of time. I wish them many more years of excellence. Rating scale: Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4.5/5 Food: 5/5 Overall: I'd give it 4.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 5 stars.

However, it did get pretty busy around 7 PM, but there were still available seats. For a restaurant in this area, it was pretty big with quite a few tables inside. The menu was very typical of any local neighborhood Japanese restaurant - Japanese soups and salads, appetizers, entrees like teriyaki dishes, noodles/udons, rice entrees and lots of different sushi and sushi rolls. Nothing on the menu will blow you away or be surprising, but it'll satisfy your Japanese food craving if that's what you're seeking. Our family ordered Edamame and Fried Gyoza to start and both were good. The Gyoza was actually better than I anticipated, arriving at our table hot and crispy. For entrees, we ordered our kids the Salmon Teriyaki, which was solid. There was a lot of teriyaki sauce on the salmon and the salmon was not overly cooked or dry, so that was a plus. I ordered 3 regular sushi rolls - Spicy Crab, Spicy Yellowtail and Spicy Salmon - and all were good and pretty much what I expected. My wife ordered the Sushi Regular, which came with 8 pieces of sushi and a California Roll. Once again, all good. Nothing that was off about any of it. We also ordered a Nabeyaki Udon, but I didn't get to try any of it, however, our kids ate a lot of it, which was a good sign that it was good. Like I said, there was nothing that was bad here and everything was good, but nothing is spectacular either. If you're just seeking Japanese food/sushi and need to get your fix on, the food at Kumo will hit that spot.
