Chicken Masala Curry Over Basmati Rice
Kristin F.

Such a great place we stumbled upon! We love Indian food and their samosas were the best I have ever had! We shared the chicken masala curry and it was delicious. There was enough we had more for dinner too. Loved the naan bread! Some of the best I have ever had as well. We' will return next time we are in the area.

We finally got to try this place! The first time they ran out, the second and third they were closed. Fourth time is the charm! We got two chicken tiki masalas, lunch size for $10. They also offer a large dinner size for $20, they said it was double the price for double the portion. Still, the lunch size served as two eating portions when accompanied with naan and veggie samosas. We got one order in mild and the other in medium spice. Let me say, the medium spice was what others might consider just plain spicy. We like spice but it still had us sweating. They have that good kind of heat, that builds and stays with you. We ordered take out, they had all of their tables lifted up so that you could only order as such. They also only allowed one customer in at a time, to pick orders up. Asking you to sanitize your hands before coming in and making sure you had a mask on. I really liked that they kept their food in a warming electronic, so that it stayed hot and fresh for you. We cannot wait to try their other dishes here! The chicken was so tender and flavorful. They used skinless chicken thighs and it just melted in your mouth. The amount of sauce given was perfect to mix into their rice. The naan was chewy and warm, the samosas were crunchy on the outside and had a great blend of vegetables and spice on the inside. Everything had a good kick but we were happy to find that their "mild" was child friendly. So that we can order for the kiddo and the adults. The owners were also very friendly and pleasant. Overall, super stoked that this place is so close to us. We will be coming often! We've been missing some of our fav Indian eateries that are on the west side, excited to find a solid one on the east side. I didn't take photos of the food, we dug in too fast as we were all crazy hungry. I will next time, though!

Family style Salmon Vindaloo $16 and $7 small portion Chix Masala w 3 boneless skinless thighs. Both excellent!

WOW! Give me more! I'm not Indian, but I would bet that this is what home cooking tastes like in India.

Delicious. Their walk in beer cooler was on the fritz but their beer prices are awesome as well.

I'm not gonna question where the heck did my review go to but let me rewrite it again…read more Sultan the Flaming Tandoor is probably the best if not the only Indian Cuisine in the Sherwood area. The food is delicious and the flavors in their curries and other dishes are spectacular. My personal favorite is the Khorma (my memorable dish as my friend Akash would say) every time I could come and either order out or dine in. Akash is the tall guy that works there. Friendly and attentive he always asks how is the food and my response to him is always the same- Wonderful! Some of our other favorites are the Chicken Biryani (very generous portions dine in or takeout), the Korma, butter masala, goat masala and garlic cheese naan (yum)! I also love his they use reliable stainless steel bowls and cups for serving your food and drinks in.

We wanted this to be great. We were looking forward to it. We wanted to find everything good in…read morethis experience. We wanted to have a great source of high-quality and great tasting Indian food nearby. All expectations were high. The reviews were even good to support the expectations. We knew it would be pricey and had the proper expense expectations. Maybe it was an off night. Maybe it was a long weekend and the Sunday night crew was tired. Maybe the ingredient delivery is on Mondays. We ordered the classics - the butter chicken, the aloo palak, chicken tikka masala, etc. - dishes we've had hundreds of times from hundreds of other restaurants (and pubs) so we're very familiar with good, great, and mediocre. Each dish looked the part, but was severely lacking flavor, which is an incredibly surprising thing to say when describing Indian food. While this is indeed a very subjective judgment, the same opinion was shared by our whole table, and even when leftovers were sampled the day after with an opportunity to better infuse, the same judgment awarded. Where was the flavor? Where were the spices? We asked these questions for every dish received. Expectations shattered. As for other criteria, ambience was average for a strip mall dine in restaurant, and with only one waiter, there was significant delay when it got busy - especially with their takeout/delivery demand. So, our search continues for a local solution to satisfy our Indian food fix. Suggestions welcome!
