We were in Manhattan for the weekend and were in the mood for Indian food. Called to see if we needed a reservation but they said just come on in. Oh my goodness are we glad we did!! We got the Masala King Deal with Vegetable Samosas and Chicken Tikka Masala which came with rice and naan and Vegetable Pakorma to share and it was around $30. Everything tasted so amazing. The tikka was flavorful with just the right amount of heat, the pakorma and samosas come with a flavorful mint and tamarind chutney, the naan was fresh and warm. It was just the right amount of food and so yummy. The service was great too. So friendly and accommodating, we felt like we were at a friend's house for dinner. I dined here Saturday, 7/30 and food was good, however we saw a GIANT RAT running around the dining room two times during our meal. Maybe it was two separate rats? I'm not sure. My fiancee brought me here for Valentine's Day because he knows how much I love Indian food and it was amazing! We had a pulsd voucher for a dinner special for two people, that included a nice bottle of bubbly. I had some of the best samosas to start, and also the Sweet & Sour Eggplant which was truly unique and came with a sweet tamarind sauce. Our mains were delicious; we shared the Shrimp Saagwala and the Chicken Masala. Huge portions and we actually got to take some home to enjoy tonight! THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. The food is so delicious and FLAVORFUL. You can pick your spice level which is a nice touch! I have been to a ton of Indian restaurants and there is really something special about this food. Like many Indian restaurants in the area, the prices are not cheap...I believe this has to do with the pandemic...but the quality is there. I have food allergies and I love that I can have Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free curry. My favorite is the lamb curry. I've had the chicken curry and Goat curry as well. All good, with lamb, then chicken as my top choices. Masala King will adjust the spice, so find what is to your taste. Medium is good for me. Recently, I tried the carrot dessert- Carrot Halva. It is almost like bread pudding in texture, but since I can't have bread, this is way better. Perfect amount of sweetness. Enjoy! read more

First thing you feel at this restaurant when you get in is an odd ambience, more lika a club or hookah bar. First things first, I have serious doubts on the freshness of food served here. The rice served to us was sticky and you could tell it had gone bad or was on the verge of it. We were told the tea served was made with their special blend but fortunately that same morning we had brought a Bagh Bakri instant tea premix and it had the exact sams taste as that, and the tea was not that warm (fresh tea would definitely be warm enough), also I saw our server first walk into the kitchen and then sneaked out and went into another room where she reheated it in a microwave (we were the only one there so could hear each beep). The naan was was too thick to our liking. The good here was the paneer and chicken dishes we got. Definitely great tasting and worth trying out. We would come back only if our server was a bit nicer, with each order she looked as us like damn I have to get up again to serve them, why can't they just get out. read more

I've tried the yellow lentils curry, chicken curry, and veggie curry. They've all been great. The naan is super fresh and hot every time as well. I ordered their $16.95 dinner special from delivery.com. I arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes after ordering to pick up the order. The man at the counter in the middle told me that it was in progress and went back into the kitchen to check on it. A few minutes later, a lady comes out to tell me that they never received my order - that sometimes the fax machine can be slow. I waited 5 minutes and called delivery.com who confirmed that they had not confirmed the order on their end. I approached the lady to ask if there is anything I needed to do, and she said no - that sometimes their fax machine was slow to communicate with delivery.com (or something of that sort?). At that point, she aggressively and rudely started defending herself stating, "this isn't our fault - delivery.com never gave us the order so there's nothing I can do for you - so you'll just have to wait until we receive it." In that time, she had not called delivery.com to try and resolve the problem at all. It's really no wonder there was only one table filled at the time, and the restaurant usually seems to be fairly empty when I walk buy. read more

I had a great dinner here last night! We arrived right at the opening time for dinner (they are closed between 3pm-5pm FYI they reopen at 5pm for dinner) and even though the staff were definitely more in preparation mode they still accommodated us and provided relatively swift service especially considering that alot of their staff had not arrived yet. Our orders were taken by our server, Kush's mother and Kush waited on us upon his arrival. Kush was very kind and appreciative that we decided on dining with them. This is definitely a family owned establishment and I felt great about supporting them especially during these challenging times. My only gripe was that this area is a bit noisy due to the location (there are quite a few busses that are across the street) but this of course is not on the restaurant and would not be an issue if there was indoor dining but just something to keep in mind beforehand. Also whilst the plates they use are cute I'm not sure they are actually optimal for eating entrees I felt like I didn't have enough space and was worried my food would spill. We ordered: Lasooni Gobi-Yummy crispy cauliflower in a tangy tomato sauce. This is one of my favorite cauliflower preparations and they do it well here. I kinda wished that the portion was a bit bigger given the price but I enjoyed it and would still order again. Lamb Vindaloo-This was delicious. I thought the cuts of meat were good and they gave quite a bit of it. The flavor was nuanced and I knew I was eating vindaloo. The spice level could have been higher in my opinion but that's my taste. Saag Paneer- Also very tasty. The saag was creamy and the paneer had a nice texture. This also complimented the vindaloo nicely. Garlic Cheese Naan-This was interesting I never had this combination before on naan and I couldn't really taste the cheese but it was buttery, garlicky crispy deliciousness. Definitely give this restaurant a shot if you are looking for some Indian food in the area or want some takeout it will satisfy those cravings at a reasonable price point. read more

I came here for lunch since it opened recently near my work. They have a take out lunch box special for $10.95 which is not bad. I don't think I could eat enough to get the buffet lunch box which was $14.95. The lunch box comes with your choice of meat (any curry or there's also a tandoori chicken option), vegetable, daal (mashed lentils), basmati rice, and fresh naan bread. I chose the chicken tikka masala since it's usually the safe choice. I also picked yellow daal and gobi masala (cauliflower with peas in curry). The portion was very large to the point that I probably could split it into two meals so overall, great value. However, the sauces were a bit bland and watery. The chicken was not tender. The naan bread was excellent though, fluffy and fresh. I think Curry Hill has better places for lunch but if you're in the area and don't feel like walking a couple blocks down, it's a decent place for lunch. read more

For appetizers, we had the garlic shrimp balchao and the fried cauliflower florets (Chatpati lasooni gobi). They were both delicious with great texture and tasty sauces, highly recommend. For main courses, we shared the chicken tikka masala, the tandoori salmon tikka, and the shrimp cochin curry.
