What I loved most was getting to try a little bit of everything, and then being able to ask for more of anything you especially liked. It makes the whole meal feel like an experience rather than just dinner, and for $45, I think this may be one of the best deals around. The wait staff were also so, so friendly and welcoming throughout the entire meal. When I first walked in, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The restaurant is casual, colorful, a little dimly lit, and definitely has a fun, themed feel to it. Sometimes places like that can be more about the atmosphere than the food, but that absolutely was not the case here. This is not my first visit to Vatan and definitely not my last. Vatan is an AYCE vegetarian Indian restaurant. I know there are many Indian restaurants/buffets in the city but what sets Vatan apart and above is the whole experience. The moment you walk into the beautiful restaurant you are instantly transported to an Indian village with the waitstaff dressed in beautiful traditional dress. Once seated we were served some light snacks before the 3-course dinner service even began. Now hang on..many will say 3-courses is not a lot of food and I will say....it is ALL YOU CAN EAT!!! Your waiter/waitress will not clear your plate until you have eaten as much as your stomach allows. First course was appetizers. Second was the mains complemented with two types of rice as well as the Indian breads (poor and roti). Final course was of course dessert and Chai. To say that we left with our bellies and our hearts full is quite the understatement. I'm happy to say that I introduced my nieces to Vatan and now a new generation of fans is growing. read more

I was invited here by a couple Indian friends. I can't even attempt to pronounce or recall the names of any of the things that I ate. All I can say is that this place is pretty amazing. You remove your shoes and sit in a booth. There are a couple options for the buffet, they were all delicious. The lady at the reception was nice but strict in her on way when it came to delivering the message- in our case to say ala carte wasn't available and only a non shareable unlimited thali for $45 +20% gratuity per person. One of our guests didn't want to eat and we decided to go ahead as it was late by then. She warned us the cameras are going to watch and record if we do share This is height of national security measure I will say, people pay to eat out to enjoy not sneak food into pockets. I won't say she is bad or mean, she just had a very odd way to deliver her message. Coming to food, overall it was OK. For the price I am paying I certainly will expect lot more better quality. The cooks seriously need to work on their skills on certain items. Only few items needed serious repair though. I've been meaning to try out Vatan for a while now after seeing it across social media. I came on a Monday night at 7 PM with a group of three. Reservations were very easy to make on Yelp. We were seated in the bottom portion. For the tables they require you to take off your shoes to enter the seating area. The seats were wooden benches with some cushions on top and pretty comfortable. The decorations within the restaurant were beautiful and intricately decorated. The restaurant serves all you can eat pre-fixe menu with items for appetizers, mains and desserts. Every item can be refilled as many times as you want. They give you as much time to each each course as you want and do not rush you at all. The food was great! There were a few items I was not a big fan of but apart from that everything was lovely. So many selections to try out. Service itself was also wonderful. Our server, Divisha, was very friendly and really helped to make the meal an enjoyable time. We went to Vatan for a friend's birthday. They love the restaurant and go multiple times a month. It was my first time there and I will say it is absolutely a fun experience and a great way to hang out with friends. So first a side note: This is a particular type of all you can eat experience. There is no time limit but they do have a way of making sure you move things along. The larger the table of people, expect your experience to be a little longer. The "four course prix fixe" is the only option you have. The food is served in small portions and split up into appetizers, daals, two dishes and a rice, dessert. After each course is served, you have until the next course being served to ask for more of whatever you like in the course you're in. The appetizers were very flavorful with my favorite being the pani puri, the potato balls, and the samosa. Each of the portions was very small and our table agreed on the things they wanted more of so they brought us an extra portion each of those items. The next course of daals came along and they actually served the next dishes and rice along with it. Every dish was nicely flavored. You could choose the spice level of your plate. There also was a little dish with their kheer which I love. I have a deep weakness for rice pudding. I asked for one more and she brought it for me when the desserts came. I honestly wish I asked for two more! The desserts were ice cream, chai, and gulab jamun. You could have as much of as many as you wanted. Because they are rich, just a portion or two of each little item was enough! Everyone was stuffed going home! This experience is very similar to being fed a temple meal in India. In the mains, I enjoyed only two of the several dishes presented too.
