Stopped by Mysttik Masaala located in the Vanderbilt market for a quick lunch. Since I was craving samosas; I'd ended up ordering two vegetables. And I have to say these samosas were huge, freshly cooked, super tasty stuffed with loads of aloo (potato) and of course flavorful. I'm not sure what's the sauce in the plastic called, but it was yummy. I'm totally looking forward to grab lunch or maybe an early dinner there and try one of their entrees. It's the first time I've been to this location but I've been to another one of these chains before. Midtown is perfect for an afternoon/ evening pick me up and truthfully, this place makes really authentic and delicious Indian food. I always get the chicken bowl(sometimes briyani, sometimes vindaloo). The sauce is amazing and they also provide extra on the side. The chicken was soft, as well as the pieces of potato in my dish. Pro tip: do not wear white when eating this. The service was fast and the ambiance is delightful and pleasant. Next time, I am coming back to try their samosas. read more

This is for the one located in urban space. I ordered the vindaloo wrap and a chicken samosa. First the good: the samosa was great. Sweet, savory and spicy, perfect temp. Also my order was promptly and courteously presented. The bad: the chicken vindaloo was near inedible. Chicken was overcooked, dry as a shoe. Not amount of sauce could make up for how impossible the chicken was to choke down. The naan was good though. If you go, I'd stay away from the chicken. read more

What an amazing journey! It's really wonderful when you see something that started grass roots from a food cart that's fed many with delicious home cooked Indian food and watch their journey of success to a brick and mortar in an amazing fun and lively food court. The food is amazing and they really stay true to themselves. (so if you cannot eat spicy may I suggest the chicken masala, lol) The mango Lassi freshly bottled, sauces are made in the house everything has fresh garnishing's on it. I got a Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan. It was an ok, albeit overpriced, dish. While the chicken was tender, the dish tasted nothing like it should, and the naan was flat, flabby, and very chewy. Delicious and VERY WELL priced for any location let alone midtown. The owner is very friendly and charismatic. You could tell he puts love into his food... My favorite ingredient! I asked which was his most recommended vegetarian dish and he offered to give me a combo plate. It contained Lentil Dal, Spinach Saag, Biryani and some beans on top of it. Very good high quality food, Indian is my favorite type of cuisine and I would eat here everyday!! Many vegetarian options and I felt like it was healthy. I ordered the chicken Tikka masala bowl and I can say with full confidence, it was one of the worst meals of my life. Not only was it overpriced at $18.50, the chicken was so incredibly overcooked that it fell apart like pulled pork. The chicken was so bafflingly terrible and dry that I had to write this yelp review. The rest of it was also almost equally as bad with the rice and sauce being completely devoid of any flavor except salt. The rice was overcooked as well with the entire dish dripping with water from the steam that they slop on from their food containers since nothing was fresh. Additionally, the cashier was rude just asking "what do you want?" I don't expect Michelin star service but when the food is overpriced and horrible coupled with rude staff, this meal ended up being legendary. It makes my list as one of the worst meals of my entire life I must congratulate them for for being so terrible that I had to write this review in hopes that no one makes the unfortunate mistake that I did of hoping for even a modicum of a decent meal. If I could rate that a 0 I would because there was absolutely nothing redeeming about this meal and experience. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. read more

Super tasty food. I would highly recommend anyone in the vicinity to try this cart. I tried samosa, batata vada, chole platter (included rice, chole, daal, rajma) which were all fresh and authentic. I bought the food home to downtown Brooklyn but it was still warm and enjoyable. It's a cart but trust me the flavors are better than a fancy restaurant. The guy was very nice as well. As an Indian food lover I came to New York and found surprisingly there are not many good Indian food around Grand Central, but today I found it! Their curry is so flavorful, just dip your naan into the curry then you can nomnomnom. I tried their chicken tikka masala, and I chose mild spicy. It's not spicy for me at all, I'll do medium next time lol. Their masala was so fresh and you can tasted all the spices. Grabbed some dinner from the MM truck in Astoria. The chicken box included chicken curry, okra and potatoes, yellow lentils, and basmati rice. I just let the owner put together whatever was good. I also got a samosa which was wrapped differently from the normal samosa wrapping...more of a spring roll wrapper. The food was good and pretty spicy...topped with cilantro. Plentiful portions.
