We had the pleasure of having their Tikka Masala, Daal, and Saag Chana $10 combo at 'Dinner in The Park' in Missoula. The food was delicious and surprisingly well done for being a food cart. That is, the level of quality they were able to output was deliciously amazing. They were very friendly and helped me out with some questions I had about the menu. The Tikka Masala we had was your standard Punjabi dish that had chicken swimming in a delicious tomato-based curry. I wasn't sure about the composition of the daal, but I believe the lentils were blended into a paste that worked well with the naan-like bread they provide on the side. Finally, the Saag Chana was a blended mixture of spinach and a variety of spices with chickpeas mixed in. Delicious. We head out to Bozeman for school soon, which inevitably signals the end of summer for many of us. I suppose one of our only regrets was not going to the Masala food cart sooner. read more

Superb Indian food! I'm always on the hunt for a great Indian restaurant when I travel and am very happy to finally have a great one here in Missoula. The butter chicken is quite a bit spicier than any place I've been, but it is perfect. I have it every time and then try something else with it. The raita is very tasty and the other chutnies are nice and spicy. Marsala has several beers on tap, so you can enjoy your Indian curry with a great beer, just as it should be! read more

The food is delicious, I loved all the things we tried from the hot case and the desserts were so very good. The service is friendly, but a little slow. It didn't negatively effect our experience. I found it almost fitting for the setting & the food. My only real problem was that almost all the curries were too spicy for me. I realize Indian food is spicy, I just wish I had more option in the curry area other than their dahl (which is very tasty). Their prices are great & portions ample. I'm so happy to have a new Indian place! I'm hoping to find some paneer on the menu some time. :) I'll be a regular here, even if my options are limited. It's good stuff! read more

I recently moved here from the San Francisco Bay Area. Masala has better Indian food than most of the Indian restaurants in San Francisco and the surrounding area. The people that work at Masala are friendly, helpful & hard working. Masala also serves draft beer! I highly recommend Masala. read more

Masala is a no frills, cafeteria style Indian restaurant. It was lovely, a bit loud on the inside. Large groups may have a hard time finding seating but a group four or fewer people will find ample options among bar tops,booths and tables. The menu is simple offering a number of curry single dishes or combos with up to three choices. Many vegetarian options are available but those with nut allergies should eat elsewhere. I enjoyed 2 curries with naan for $10.50. I didn't see any place to control spice. My daal was mild, flavorful but a bit soupy. The butter chicken was tasty but there were not many pieces of chicken. You could add some "sides" for extra $ that are mostly fried food that I would classify as appetizers and/or an assortment of interesting chutneys or sauces. I chose the coconut chutney and raita. I will return if I need a quick meal but will look elsewhere for a date night venue that is less casual. read more

I would rate this "no stars" if I could. The food looks like it is desi Indian food, but tastes nothing like it. The food serving method is neither buffet nor ordering off the menu...they serve you "soup kitchen" style, which can be fine, but the server was stingy with the sauces we wanted and was annoyed that we asked for more. Their white servers felt entitled to correct our pronunciation of the names of desi food. I'm very visibly Pakistani/Indian. I would say she was actually racist. It was a weird experience: as a brown person, they made ME feel like an outsider in a restaurant pretending to serve brown people's food. read more

One of my favorite places to dine in Missoula! The food is yummy, just predictable enough (they always have my favorite coconut chickpea curry) yet variable (fun to mix up the sauces/toppings/sides). Okay Indian, way too much rice for the price and a little stingy with the sauces that go on top. We usually frequent the Indian Curry House down the street, but it was closed so we decided to come here. The lady serving us behind the bar wouldn't stop checking her phone every few seconds and would frequently miss what we said the first time, not that big of a deal but not great service. A little strange that Naan costs extra, as most Indian places this comes with the meal. A good amount of options, as well as desserts. The Mango Cheesecake was super cute and pretty tasty. This place was very good. We were looking for food at 10;30 at night and this place was the only open place besides pizza. At first it looked slightly sketchy but it smelled great. The chickpea curries were very good, but the Indian bread and other sides were a little stale. The sauces however were amazing. Also for dessert got a small Indian ball thing made of dates and nuts, I would skip that, not worth the 1$. The curries were very good and I recommend that!!! read more
