We were really wanting Indian food and picked this place based on the reviews. We were the only ones in the restaurant but many people came and picked up to go. There were just two women working there and the younger one who took our order was not very pleasant. She actually made a face at us when we asked a question. We ordered two different chicken dishes but they tasted exactly the same, the tikka masala and butter chicken. The portions were large and the food came quickly but that was the end of our table services. I had to go to the counter for drinks which we never got with our initial order. Ordered Tomato Soup which was so spicy that it was inedible. Vada Pav was one of the worst I have had with no chutney's or anything. Pretty dry and served in a burger bun instead of Pav. The Cholle Bhatura was lets say, a recipe I have never seen. The Choille was yellow and creamy. The Bhatura, was thick and oily. The Paneer Aloo roll was wrapped in a tortilla and not a paratha. Small business that can definitely be overlooked but such great food, service, and portions! Came on a Wednesday night with two friends around 6:30pm. We were seated promptly! Food: I ordered from the vegetarian main courses section of the menu and the from the rice section of the menu. The chana saag (chickpeas with spinach in a creamy spiced sauce) and a side of basmati rice. The pot of chana saag didn't seem that big but man was it filling! I couldn't even eat the whole thing. The basmati rice was plain which helped balance out the spices in the main entree. The only thing I would say is that the entrees should come with at least rice instead of having to order it separately. Service: food was cooked quickly and the staff were attentive / friendly . I was pleasantly surprised when he called me to say my food was ready. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was literally empty, I'm guessing the word hasn't gotten out that this is a pretty descent restaurant to sit down and eat in. My food was a tad bit spicy but since it was Indian food, that was to be expected. I particularly loved the curry shrimp although it was different from what I anticipated, I thought it would be like Caribbean curry shrimp, although it wasn't I still enjoyed it. Amazing. I ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan and it was phenomenal! This is one of my go to places whenever I want to order Indian food. My order did come with rice and the portions are really great for the price you're paying, I would eat some the day I ordered and still have some left over to eat for the next day. The butter chicken is thick and creamy, has a good spice (I love spicy foods) and just good spices in general it's super delicious, if you're wondering on what to order but not familiar with Indian food you can never go wrong with butter chicken! read more

Really solid! I've long had trouble finding an Indian restaurant that hits all the checkmarks of robust flavor, spice, and quality of cooking, and Masala Twist hits them all. The butter chicken and chicken tikka masala both featured juicy chunks of white meat in super-savory, comfortably spicy sauces. Big, fluffy pieces of naan round it out. Writing this review for those who like my boyfriend, can't try a new place without checking Yelp lol We ordered takeout from Masala today, after having seen it on the ride home the other day. We love Indian food, so we were excited to try it, Yelp reviews or not haha. It's hard to find good options that deliver, especially when you're vegetarian so we're pretty happy with them being so close. I did not go pick up, so I can't speak for the place/decor. The food we ordered was good and tasted fresh. The price is comparable to other local Indian restaurants, but the portions are definitely smaller. We usually have enough for leftovers when we order from other places. My only complaint is that the entrees don't include rice, and the rice portion you get if you decide to order rice, is much smaller than I expected. Not such a big deal for me, but may be for others. Besides that, we were happy with everything we ordered and will definitely continue ordering from them. I am very annoyed with this restaurant. Being new to the Rahway/Linden area, I was excited to see an Indian place nearby that had my favorite Chicken Tikka Masala dish. Today I placed an order and was so excited to finally get my hands on some Chicken Tikka Masala when my order was suddenly cancelled without any explanation. I called the restaurant to ask why because I had placed my order 30 minutes prior and I had gotten notification that my DoorDash driver was on his way to pick up my food. The restaurant informed me that they decided to cancel my order because they did not like that I had used a promo code on my DoorDash app. A little disappointed, I told the owner that I completely understood because I know we are in a pandemic and business can be rough and I was unaware a few dollars saved on my behave would greatly affect their business. Instead of the owner and I parting ways in a friendly manner, she began yelling at me through the phone about how inconsiderate I was and that I am unappreciative of her cooking. I continued to be belittled by this owner until I decided it was best if I just hung up the phone. I would have been more than glad to pay the total of my food without any use of a promo code because I know I do not carry the stressful weight of owning a business. However, her rude, unprofessional, and quite frankly hurtful comments have completely disgusted me from ever ordering from this restaurant. It is very disappointing because the food does look great, thought I personally have never tried it. I would label this restaurant as incredibly greedy for money. I have read a mixture of reviews that this restaurant's customer service is a 1/10, customers have been met with appalling rude behavior, condensing commentary, multiple overcharges or arguments about prices; it is saddening that I am now one of those people when I can barely label myself as a customer of this restaurant. Horrible rude customer service. We have ordered multiple times and usually go to pick it up ourselves, but decided to get delivery through door dash this last time. Our appetizer was missing from the order. We had three containers of rice and the two sauces that go with the samosas appetizer, but no samosas. No big deal right? Everyone makes mistakes. We called and the woman who answered began yelling at us that the kitchen says they put them in the bag so they put them in the bag. She doesn't know what we think she should do but they put the order together properly. There was no reason for her to get nasty. I've wanted to try this place for quite some time and finally got the opportunity to do so. I placed my order online and arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes later. Once I get to the counter, a woman comes out from the kitchen and asks for my name. Apparently the online orders haven't been going through, despite me receiving an email confirmation. So she takes my order again and says it will be ready in 10 minutes. I return in 10 minutes and she tells me it will be right out. 2 more people pick up their orders and she tells me 2 more minutes. I finally get my food after 18 minutes and decide to review my receipt since I'd read that totals were off on some orders. Admittedly the way the receipt is labeled can be confusing, but basically they don't charge you the extra fee if you pay by cash. Ok so now on to the food. Everything was still piping hot when I arrived home. The Chicken Tikka Roll was a lot larger than I expected, but was delicious. The Garlic Naan had a good amount of garlic and plenty to share. The Chicken Samosas probably could have been taken out a minute earlier due to the crumbly outside, but was still tasty. Overall, everything was good and easily enough for 2nds. read more

So delicious. Kebabs had perfect spice. Samosas chaat were crispy with really tasty, spicy potato filling. The vindaloo had the depth of flavor and not just pure heat, which I love! Butter chicken reminded me of a favorite Indian spot in Long Island that's been long closed (The Curry Club). Palak paneer tasted so fresh, with some texture that really gave it a home made feel. The samosas were awesome and chicken vindaloo is one of my favorites and it didn't disappoint. The man i picked up my order from was very polite and friendly! The Food was fantastic, fresh made to order with great flavor, and the portions are big enough to where you could share with one other person.
