Angela Connell, who says she's a VP at Austin Properties, does not know how to interpret the bylaws of our complex at Bellfort Place. 1) According to the bylaws, I own everything inside. So I converted my one bedroom condo into a two bedroom condo. The second bedroom required a window in order to be considered a bedroom as described by the City of Houston. Austin Properties interprets the bylaws, as if I have to ask permission for a window, which doesn't really matter, because the HOA won't approve the ACC even if I do submit it. Bellfort Place is a dump and has long lost any architectural integrity. Also, I'm the only owner in the history of Bellfort place to be forced to submit an ACC. Anyway. I checked with an attorney, and he told me that City Of houston law supersedes HOA Bylaws. 2) Austin Properties refuses to reimburse me for the power meter which cost me $2700. Anyone with common sense knows that electricity in Houston comes from Centerpoint. Then that Centerpont electricity is sent into a box called a "transformer" which is the responsibility of the HOA and where other condos also receive electricity. Angela Connell, "VP," Austin Properties interprets that since I was the only condo damaged, I have to pay for this situation. She says they may pay for the transformer repair which was $800. But anybody with a brain knows that a power meter does not send electricity to the transformer and that Centerpoint does not send bad electricity to the transformer. Therefore, a person with reasonable intelligence can come to the conclusion that the problem is in the transformer which received good electricity to my electric meter, even if other condos were not affected. Austin Properties prides itself on being a family owned business. What that really means is they hire family members whether they are qualified or not. This is proven by how Angela Connell interprets Bellfort Place bylaws with my two issues above. read more

I am writing this review because I just moved onto a property that they manage I'm assuming . I believe the HOA responsibilities are safety and maintenance of the area such as the gate, grass, and pool. Here at Elmgrove it is the complete opposite. Since I moved here from retirement in the Army, I have been racially profiled and harassed and physically threatened by Marie Lancaster, the president in the HOA. She called me names and insulted me , have came on to my personal property, and followed me around telling names and taunting me and my dog. She did it right under the cameras March 2nd of 2023. It has gotten so bad that I had to call the police and press charges and taking legal action against her and the company . The company is not doing anything. We've called every day for weeks and no call returned. It's sad that I don't feel safe in my own neighborhood or in my own home and I have to constantly watch my back because Marie Lancaster will pop out on you out if no where. It's crazy to the point on feb 14,2023 she was waiting for us to get out our car and started harassing us and I have it video recorded. Everything has been recorded that she has been doing and they let her get away with it. I don't know how they have some one that's racist and threatening as the president of the HOA living directly in our neighborhood. I do not feel safe . I had a problem with the exterior of my property that required immediate attention. I placed a work order with the management team and then asked them when will the repairs be made. I was told that depends on the contractor because the repairs required certain materials. after waiting more than 10 ddays, I decided to use my personal contractor who required no special materials.The task was completed within 30 minuites. I was told exteriors repairs were the responsibility of the HOA. Mabey this is their way of cutting cost at the owners expense. Needless to say I am already dissapointed with this management team. Pretty terrible management. Very terse when you speak to them, and not very clear on their demands. Despite that, they assume that they demand are "obvious" to everyone. I think they need a reality check and know that, in life, something obvious to someone isn't obvious to someone else. Where do i even begin?!!? Im writing this months after I've finally moved out of the neighborhood and got rid of having to deal with such pathetic people. I lived in that neighborhood for almost 4 years. Neighbors were friendly and quiet. However, the HOA was a NIGHTMARE! They literally have no life. They will pick on you because they are racist, pathetic, unprofessional people. I got constant letters from them about the stupidest little things ever. They expected me to hold a measuring tape and measure the grass each time it grew an inch, and once it did, they'd send me several warnings at a time which I'd get weeks later. By then, they'd have already escalated the issue and a lawyer would be involved because they decided to sue me over grass. They kept mailing me about a broken gate when in reality, the gate was just open! Not broken, not chipped, not a single crack!!! Whenever i'd call and ask to speak to Veronica, who deals with these issues, she'd call back days later when the issue had already been escalated. We travel a lot for work and therefore,cour house was left for several weeks and. Ometimes months while we were out of town. By the time we'd come back, we'd have a stack of threats and eventually letters from their lawyer that they're suing us for fee after fee after fee. At one point, they created a huge issue over the fact that our fence had began to lean due to a storm. When they forced us to rebuild it and put in a new segment, onviously the wood is going to loook different than the rest. They ended up mailing us a threat that if we didnt match the panels to the other (older ones who didnt need to be replaced according to them) then we would be fined. They gave us issues about a stain on the concrete driveway that had been there way before we ever moved in. I 100% believe we were picked on because I asked many neighbors and no one had ever had an issue with them. They were all shocked that HOA was being this ridiculous with us and even suggested it was racial discrimination - which I truly believe so!!! These are DISGUSTING people. I would never want to deal with them ever again. They gave us 4 years of hell living in that neighborhood. And when the snow storm happened, they had the AUDACITY to threaten us about the "garbage" on our lawn which wasn't anything close to garbage, it was actually our damaged furniture and sheetrock while we were having the house gutted and we were devasted. These are money hungry old ladies that have nothing better to do. Flat out theives. I am SO glad I moved out and will never have to deal with these pathetic ladies. They will do anything to make money off of you! They will lie, threaten left and right, and attempt to be very sneaky about it when they are just flat out stupidly obvious. I've seen their little spy literally drive up to our house directly, park, take pics, and leave. A week later, we'd have a threat from them in the mail. They thought we would never find out that they were doing this just to us and no one else. We set up cameras, i saw thaem from the windows. These people had the audacity to accuse us of something different every day! Disgusting. If you're reading HOA reviews before purchasing a home in the neighborhood these people manage - RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. Save your money!!!! There are plenty of HOA's that have decent people working for them. I am beyond happy that i made it out of that hell hole. We ended up paying so much unnecessary fees due to false accusations made by HOA that I never realized by the end of each year. I even rented out the club house once and they wouldnt return my "refundable " deposit. Can you guess the reason? I rented a clubhouse last month, the clubhouse was amazing, nothing negative to say about the place. However, rental process at Austin Properties was very annoying. The manager in charge was rude, clearly she doesn't like her job. When I called asking what is included in the clubhouse they were confused, didn't know and called me back saying there was a 60 foot round table for me to use. When I called to ask if I could pick up my deposit check the same manager sounded annoyed and anal. I highly recommended her to get a job that only deals with computers :) read more

Worst, zero customers service..No consideration or whatsoever for people coming to request service without telling you need to wait 40 mins for getting a new gate sensor. If I knew it took that long. I will go find a bathroom somewhere nearby. But No. Not a word .. (We in a service related industry out of a curtesy, Would allow people really needed to use it.). This company took $830 from my dad claiming he was late on the water and maintenance fees each month for almost 2 years and that he did not have home insurance. I've disputed this with proof that he paid on time but they said it was not valid and did not give us an explanation. My dad is old and can't speak English very well. All they said was for my dad to go to the meeting but Hayley says I can only go if I give them a letter stating that I can be on the account which I have. She said that the letter was invalid. She said they weren't going to dismiss the balance so it was a waste of my time. We were so helpless I ended up paying for it. Now I'm scared that they are going to find a way to claim we didn't pay this. Now I'm just waiting to see what's going to happen now. read more

Money hungry management company! I requested a simple statement of my account stating how much I pay per month for my HOA fee and that I was current with all of my fees. I got a response stating they wanted $75.00 refi fee for accounting information (I was refiing a totally different property) and they attached some Texas Code of Laws stating what can be charged. What can be charged and what should be charged are two different things. Yet, at another property we own in Houston with a different management company there was no charge whatsoever for the same simple information. Customer service with this management company takes a back seat to fattening the owners' bank account! As a realtor who deal with townhouse transactions daily, I should say they have the most inefficient employees and most complicated/useless policies I've ever seen. I owned a property in WestHollow Villa and supposed to get it sold by Feb 2019. During the closing, two transfer documents have been requested to be prepared by MASC Austin Properties. They delayed them both and caused the closing to be delayed. They gave me such a hardtime to respond to the questionnaire form! Now the closing is delayed, costing me additional $300. read more

My mom came in to pay and she wanted to speak with someone who speaks Spanish and this old lady ( didn't get her name ) told her no that she spoke very good English and she isn't able to speak with someone else. Then told my mom she missed a payment and my mom had proof that she didn't. Then the lady tried to scare my mom by calling the police and started being racist. IM TAKING THIS TO HR. Not only that my mom stayed until the police arrived and since they couldn't arrest her. They told her she wasn't able to come to this location to make payments. read more

Absolutely one of the worst Management outfits I have ever dealt with. $150. for a closing agent to just get a quote of the account. $200 transfer fee; Pay your dues on time even if you don't get a bill or they charge you an administrative fee, interest and oh yes, a certified mail fee of which the certified mail was never received. So to sell a house in Deer Creek cost me $775. What a great business to be in with no oversight. I will never buy another home that this company has anything to do with. read more

A letter was mailed to me with a picture on it of my house, the picture was dated 11/12/2018 and I was told that they do not alter the picture. Do you want a Management Company that helps your HOA do what needs to be done to make your neighborhood better or do you want a Management Company that does just enough to get by while the neighborhood goes downhill? I have been a board member for our HOA for over 14 years. I must be doing something right to keep getting re-elected. I have seen several management companies come and go over the years. Virtually all of them promised the moon and did not deliver. MASC Austin Properties actually knows our subdivision and its unique needs. I wear 3 hats as a resident, board member, and an officer. I deal with budgets and collections, entrance maintenance, Clubhouse up keep and rental, pool use and registration. Yes I even deal with that dreaded ACC Committee which sent me a letter for my drooping gutters. MASC Austin Properties provides the foundation on which our HOA runs and without them our HOA would fall apart and our properties and amenities would plummet in value. Again if you want a management company that takes your HOA's money but does not make your subdivision better, hire the other guys. Then trying to discuss anything with anyone that works there is ridiculous. Angela was never at work, so they kept referring me to a Rachel who sounds like a dim wit and doesn't know her job at all.
