The lobby is extremely sensory unfriendly. It's almost unbearable for people with sensory sensitivities.

Out on my daily 3 mile run at a new location I decided to finish the last 1/2 mile in a "sprint"…read more About a quarter mile later I tripped on a patch of exposed large tree roots and fell forward onto several random protruding roots. I spent a week in patient while they ran comprehensive batteries of X-Rays, CT's, and various MRI's. They imaged every affected body part in every image spectrum possible. I was very impressed by the professionalism and compassion of every single staff person I interacted with. Being in my late 60's and very independent I was not accustomed to this level of care. From the talented physicians, to the nurses, and all the other staff, I was always comforted they had my best interest in mind, even if I did not always agree with them. Once all testing was done and they could make a detailed report, I was released with much better news than expected. I was able to immediately download every test from their patient portal. This is especially helpful for my provider at the VA to review, so we can now discuss a plan moving forward. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality fresh meals, which were brought to the room still very warm. The best review I can give is to declare that I will always go to Providence in any future emergency issues. Hopefully I'll never be back, but if I do return, I know that I'll be in good hands. I highly recommend this hospital.

Severe communication breakdown and lack of empathy for a critical care family…read more Our family's experience with Providence St. Peter Hospital has been deeply distressing during an already terrifying time. My 83-year-old grandmother was recently T-boned in a severe car accident, suffering eight broken bones, and was only just moved out of critical care. She managed to call me from her room, but the phone was disconnected. When I immediately called back to reconnect with her, I faced an absolute wall of bureaucratic incompetence and zero empathy. First, the staff claimed they had no idea who I was talking about. Once they finally recognized her name, they flatly refused to transfer me to her room or provide any explanation as to why. To prevent a family member from speaking to an elderly, severely injured patient who just initiated contact is completely unacceptable. The extreme lack of coordination between units and the rigid, unhelpful attitude of the staff turned a medical crisis into an agonizing, aggravating ordeal. St. Peter's leadership seriously needs to address how their staff handles communication with worried families. Frontline staff need training on basic empathy and how to properly locate transferred patients instead of just shutting families out.

I guess it doesn't matter anyway because they could not figure out what was wrong with me and sent me home. They said it's probably a virus. If that's the extent of your investigation I can be a doctor as well so just come to my house. Follow up? Call the number. 000-000-0000. I wish I was joking see pictures below. Absolutely horrendous experience. Also they said on the discharge paperwork that they gave me Zoloft. I was never given Zoloft. I was given an iv drip, some sort of Tylenol, and kicked out the door, just after tell me it's not very concerning that someone would soil themselves. You're fine dude. Also they were reading continued care after non-brain function to another patient and the guy literally said "if something goes wrong do you want us to revive you or do you want to remain dead" wtf dude. I would say never go there ever don't do it bad idea only reason I'm giving it two instead of one is because the nurse was fine. Don't expect him to find the vein the first time. Or show you where the bathroom is. Or bring you water for the 10th time. I just want some water dude. OK I'm done.

When we got there, no triage was performed at any time during our visit, two different people took insurance information which was never billed to the insurance. Wrong codes as we find out in August. The worst part about it the triage nurse was a total disaster. He should not even be in the medical field. He was rude condescending. After four hours of waiting, never been triage and complaining several times. I did talk to the charge nurse and my mom was seen by the Doctor Who was very professional. Even the staff upfront at the desk, was concerned about the triage process that evening Before we arrive there we also talked to my mother's oncologist and he said we needed to be seen immediately immediately go to the emergency room. Again, there was no triage perform. She was never seen by anybody prior to seeing the doctor, even though other people were seen by triage nurses. Since it is the only hospital in the area, you don't have any choice, but if there was another hospital there, this one would be out of business.
