I visited Mason Social for brunch back in April on a beautiful spring day, and it was such a cute, quaint spot. The atmosphere was pleasant, relaxed, and inviting, with house music, jazz, and R&B playing throughout brunch, which really added to the overall vibe. The décor and ambiance felt both functional and elegant without trying too hard, and it perfectly complemented the laid-back energy of the space. The food was very good overall. My only suggestion would be adding a steak sauce option and perhaps mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes to better complement the steak and eggs entrée. Our server was helpful but they may need more staff for brunch as he was quite busy but he was great! The bottomless mimosas were delicious, bubbly, and definitely worth it. Live music on a Monday night always makes things great. Local neighborhood bar, the old fashioned and the espresso martini are my go to. Highly recommended. The carnitas nachos, bone marrow burger, fried pickles, and cheesy meatballs were all good. But the winner goes to the lemongrass Thailand chili wings. 10/10. Service is good, staff is friendly. I was genuinely excited to support another viral DMV establishment and was sorely disappointed by treatment of staff and guests alike. I was a patron of Mason Social for brunch with a friend of mine yesterday. We were very excited to dine in after seeing clips of the food, location and local dj; it all seemed like a great vibe for us!! We unfortunately ended up with a saddening experience, long wait times, and food poisoning. Upon entering there were issues at the door for seating, from finding my reservation, to being sat near the dj as requested, despite 2 top tables that were open nearby at the time; no problem at first, the music system was great. We were greeted by our great server (didn't catch his name, young latin man) drinks and our appetizer were ordered, THEN the issues began. It got busy FAST! (we saw groups of people coming in). Drinks took 23 minutes to come out, spinach dip even longer. The server & food runners came over to apologize and explained how he was sat with tables outside and 2 large groups simultaneously. We told him it wasn't his fault and understood. He had half of the restaurant AND patio tables, this had to be due to poor leadership and staffing issues. We felt so bad for him and the female waitress working with him for brunch. We were finally able to flag down a gentleman (manager?) to order our entrees because the server wasn't able to come back to us. We waited almost an hour for our entrees and our second round of drinks did not taste the same as the first. At that point the gentleman (manager?) came over again to apologize, but the damage was done. We tipped our waiter and left. But our ordeal was not yet over. Upon leaving the establishment, my friend and I felt physically sick into the evening, cutting our plans for the day short, and went home. Sunday night turned into us both having upset stomaches and issues that have resulted in food poisoning, which is alarming seeing as we had different entrees and only shared and appetizer of spinach dip. Less than 6 hours later and sickness? Oh no! I have also emailed and called the restaurant to no response or solution as of yet. Safe to say, we wont be back. I thought this was a nice location, liked the neighborhood/industrial vibe, and we got here early on a Sunday. The DJ was already setting up and started with some old school hip hop. It was fun, but a little loud, as there were only a few tables seated. Our breakfasts were fine, I ordered The Standard (a standard breakfast) while my companions picked eggs Benedict and a Mason egg sandwich. I would have liked biscuits & gravy but it was lamb gravy. I like lamb, but I was hesitant about the lamb gravy. Our wait staff was hard to find when it was time for the check, but other than that, everyone was friendly and laid back. I think I would prefer to dine here in the evening, when I would enjoy listening to a DJ, rather than when trying to have a conversation. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including the spinach and artichoke dip, Cajun honey chicken 'n biscuit, Big Al's grits, chicken & waffles, fruity pebbles French toast, and a side of home fries. Everything came out flavorful and satisfying, with generous portions that made sharing easy. Went to Mason Social for their DJ brunch and I was not disappointed!! The DJ played a good mix of classic pop and new updated tunes. And it wasn't too loud in there, which I appreciated. There were so many menu items that sounded good to me, it was hard to choose. The fruity pebble French toast jumped out at me. It was soooo yummy. The fruity pebbles were crunchy and colorful with the fruit on top as well. So nostalgic! Another stand out was the brisket hash. The brisket was pull apart tender and so flavorful. It's really good with scrambled eggs on top. The big Al's grits were also creamy and poached eggs added a nice richness on top. One little issue - I had an egg shell on my plate. Whoops. Went in looking for lunch, but brunch menu had to suffice this time. Sat at the bar and Francisco took great care of us. Restaurant is clean and well decorated, looked like plenty of high top take seating in the dining room area, the bar is semi-separated... not sure if one section has different hours than the other. Bottomless mimosas were in the menu, so how do you say no? Juice options of OJ, pineapple, grapefruit... $22pp, well worth it, we got our money's worth. BLTA was a hit with the wife, great lunch/brunch option, especially with the mixed greens. We took a look at the lunch and dinner menus and will certainly be back to give them a try. The marrow burger at Mason Social slaps, even during a power outage. We are semi-regulars here and consider this place one of our favorite neighborhood spots. Frickles are awesome (though now only during happy hour :( ) and the marrow burger is everything you want a burger to be. The Parmesan ranch fried chicken sandwich is new on the menu and also amazing. But the best part about Mason Social is the staff - they take great care of us every time we visit, including during the power outage last week! We couldn't believe it when we rolled up and half the restaurant was out of power - but the kitchen was still running, and the service was the same it always is - kind and welcoming, despite the circumstances. It could have been (and probably was) a rough night for the staff, but they took great care of us once again and the food was the same high quality it always is. read more

Went for brunch, which was pretty busy, but worked out because we had a reservation. I got the steak and eggs while my friend got chicken and waffles. The steak and eggs were good. The steak was tender for the most part, just hit chewer sections a few times. My friend didn't like the chicken and waffles, but she ate them because she was starving. She said the chicken was dry and stringy. She did let the server know after that she didn't enjoy her meal. They were very apologetic and said they would have replaced the meal if they'd known, but offered a free dessert or to take 1/2 off the meal. I'd go again. If you're looking for something quiet, this isn't the place for you, but if you enjoy a lively atmosphere, you should check it out. read more

We unfortunately left before even eating because after 2+ hours of waiting and assurances that our order was coming, there were no signs of forward progress, and we eventually had to leave to put our baby to bed. I happened to be in the area running errands and was looking for a brunch spot that is dog friendly. It was a beautiful day so I didn't mind sitting outside in an uncovered area. And even though their outdoor seating is on the street, it's not terribly noisy. The host staff were very friendly and brought out a fresh bowl of water for my dog without having to ask. Their brunch menu was a refreshing list of options that were familiar but with a flavorful flair. For example, they have a "pick two" Benedict. Wow they were struggling yesterday. Maybe caught them on a bad night. The restaurant was about half full, really slow service (appeared to be understaffed). It took probably 25-30 minutes to get our drinks from the bar and already had our food. When the 2 of the 3 cocktails arrived they didn't have ice in them. The waiter explained they were out of ice. I came here for lunch with a friend. Located in Old Town the outside is cute and quaint and a little unassuming like most restaurants in this area. When I walked inside, it was not busy at all. There are two bar areas one in the front and one in the back, and general seating throughout. The service was great. This was our first time dining here and the waitress provided us with great recommendations. I will be honest, I was a little underwhelmed with the ambiance. We were seated in the back and during the day if you're not sitting next to the window or directly under the soft lighting it felt a little drab but overall the place was clean and cute and I could see this being a GREAT spot for happy hour or dinner in the evening. Once our food came out...DELICIOUS! Everything was tasty!! Will definitely come back. Waterglasses only filled after requesting. The restaurant had two other tables, there was no excuss for this inattentiveness. I find it ridiculous that they automatically charged gratuity for our party when the service was non existent. Clearly a case where the server knew they were guaranteed a tip and therefore had no incentive to do their job. Will never be dining here again, will actively recommend folks not eat here. read more

The food was delicious and the place had a "buzz" but not too loud for our 50-something ears :) It was busy but not completely crowded so we didn't experience the slower service issues mentioned by others. I went to Mason Social for Happy Hour. I saw several videos on social media about this place and decided to check it out. The happy hour drink menu only had two options. I wanted something sweet and I asked about one of the drinks and the server said the one I inquired about was not really that sweet. The server did not offer a recommendation either. I ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls for an appetizer. They were okay, just lacked any sort of flavor. They were also served with a side of mayo and not ketchup. I ordered the meatloaf entree which was served with Brussel sprouts and corn. The meatloaf was flat and could have used some more seasonings. I definitely won't be back. Went to Mason Social to meet up with an old coworker that I haven't seen in years. The ambiance was nice and the food was delicious. I had the Rock Fish with risotto and my friend had the Burger w/ fries. The Burger looked delicious and the patty was about 3" thick. Taking a star off because once we paid our bill, our waiter mentioned that there were other "reservations tonight" aka, please get up and free the space. I didn't appreciate feeling rushed especially since we were there for less than 1.5hrs. I only point it out because I don't enjoy trying to get the staff's attention when there's a noticeable line of 5+ people waiting. They were also very slow to get us the check and clear away our plates. Food: disappointing. My review of each thing we got: 1. The breakfast sandwich was tasty, no criticism there. 2. We each got hashbrowns, and I swear they were the most home fries looking hashbrowns I've ever seen. When I asked our server just to make sure there wasn't a mix-up, he first told us no those were indeed hashbrowns, but then admitted people often comment how they don't look like normal hashbrowns. So I feel like that's saying something. They were barely crispy but well-seasoned regardless. 3. The side of fruit: pathetic, honestly. The two strawberries and three teeny tiny blueberries atop a mountain of pineapple and melon felt like an insult. 4. The "Classic": how dare they charge $15 for two small eggs and the tiniest piece of single grocery store wheat toast. The bacon, however, was nice and crispy. Price: overpriced for the mediocre food. Random note: the restroom had a Bible verse framed on the wall? See my pictures. I just thought it was odd, both it being there and the line they chose. There were two other framed quoted that just added to the strangeness. What is with this theme of revenge?? We decided to try this restaurant out on Mother's Day and we had a nice time! We went around noon. The restaurant was not crowded at that time but you do have the option to make a reservation online. The employees were nice and they gave out flowers to the mothers for the day, which was a really sweet gesture. Overall, the food was good! The only thing we had that we did not care for was the French toast and the bacon funnel fries. The French toast was underwhelming and the bacon fries were just a weird, meh dish. All of our other dishes were delicious. I would recommend the grits dish because the pork belly was too good. There is street parking all around the restaurant; we had no issues finding a quick parking space. The restaurant is nice and clean and there is also a bar area. Overall, worth the visit.
