I have been to massage envy locations literally across all corners of the country. I just spoke with Nylah today who went above and beyond by assisting my relocation to Annapolis as my "home base". I had no idea of the "secret benefits" of having a "home location" vs. just going from one location to the next. She literally called Las Vegas to expedite the process, even though she is alone at the desk today. My therapist: Awesome! Out of all of the ME locations, she is the first to truly understand what is going on with my body, why I need a massage therapist, and help me fix the entire problem! Smart!! NOW why I took off one star. The Manager is no Manager. She has no customer service skills. She has been the only place in the country to incur an up charge at this location for not being my "home base". Ps I've been to the Hollywood location and several NY. And who puts one person on to run a Sunday when clearly the phone calls are rolling in along with a packed customer base? Shame on you, lady! All being said, I'm happy to make this my new home base, but it's understaffed and getting an appointment is worse than a good doctor's office. read more

I used to love this place. Now getting an appointment with a massage therapist that fits your needs is impossible. You can no longer book a month in advance. The appointments fill up the moment they open up the schedules. The front desk has told me twice I would receive a call when the massage therapist I see opens her schedule. I never received the call and I got a lame "I'm sorry." I've been going to ME since 2012 and this is the worst it's ever been trying to get an appointment. I wouldn't waste your time opening a membership with any ME locations around the Annapolis either either as they are all hard to get into. read more

Alexis, Jerneene, and Shakara are all excellent therapists and get me back to feeling great after sports or tough workouts. My happy place in 90 minute increments. My therapist Tamaya is the best. She always asks if I'm having an issues & customizes my session to spend some extra time on any problem areas. I go to this location once a month or every four weeks. I've never had a set person I see, but had always had a great experience. To me Massage Envy has never been a "relaxation" place but more of a Med spa type. I go for therapy and to work out my back so i continue working and playing. I've been to a few spas where i feel great and relaxed my wake up feeling the same way i walked in. When I leave Massage Envy I can go weeks before my back starts to tighten up. The gentleman at the front desk was welcoming and personable. He greeted me right away and explained how the experience would work. The location is clean and inviting. I have had massages at various spas for relaxation, but also to try to knead out the knots in my back. Alli at Massage Envy was the first to make a difference in relieving the tension in my back. I credit that to her expertise, but I also think that seeking a massage from a place that only specializes in massage was a smart choice. My masseuse was also able to tailor the hour session for my needs, so instead of an hour of full body, she focused the hour on my upper back and neck. Afterwards, I signed up for a monthly massage. The woman at the front desk clearly explained the program. I learned that you can roll over massages from one month to the next and even gift your monthly massage to a friend. I've been a member of Massage Envy for a couple of years now. $80 a month is taken out of my account to get me a 60 minute massage. One catch, there are no appointments available. You have to book 2 months in advance. Another catch, even if you do book, you're not guaranteed that your therapist will show up. I've had a half dozen appointments cancelled on me with less than a days notice. One cancelled on me while I was waiting at the spa for her to arrive. I was refunded that one month only after I contacted management but not for any of the other months. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP. It's a hoax. They claim to be short staffed. Well I don't know why. Pay your therapists more since you are gouging your members. Or. Stop taking in new memberships since you can't appease the members you already have. I'm out $650 in credits since I abruptly quit my membership. I quit because my last 3 massages were cancelled last minute and I got so tired of their scam. I guess it's a small price to pay to not have anything to do with them again because god knows I will not be refunded for their mistake. I have paid my membership every month for the last 2 years, thru Covid and 2021, I have not been able to use even 1 massage since 2020, - I schedule and the therapist calls out sick or no avail appointments. At this point $1,680 later and not one massage. Today I finally have an appointment - at the time of seBruce I decline a upgrade to a 90 min since I only want my back - I fell at work on my knee and arm, the therapist - Samantha - first off acted as if I had the plague, them she said she was NOT doing my massage - and they are still billing my account.... I DONT THINK SO! No manager avail to speak with me and told the corporate number can be found on the website! Great customer service. I had been going to a regular massage therapist in Cherry Hill NJ for about a year (Nic) who I loved so I was worried to switch to a new location when I moved. Luckily the Massage Envy in Annapolis is very helpful and took my requests and recommended Julia. Julia was very personable in accessing what needs I had for my first massage with her. I am absolutely livid. Although the staff was courteous and friendly and massage was enjoyable, I am now sitting at an urgent care facility just seven hours later to treat a chemical burn on my face. I thought I would have a nice relaxing day and instead my face is swollen, red and inflamed from the products used. When I called to tell the spa they simply told me to use cold compresses and maybe I was allergic to the product they used. Wrong! Terrible experience will never go back. read more

I've always received good service at this Massage Envy location. They have, by far, some of the better therapists compared to 10 other locations that I've tried...but I refuse to divulge the best therapists, since I want to keep them all to myself ;-) My only complaint is that they are usually late starting you up on your massages and cut your massage 10 minutes before it's supposed to end. I understand 5 mins to get undressed and 5 minutes to get dressed at the end, but 20 minutes for undressing and re-dressing is a little excessive. I always feel a little cheated when I get a 60 minute massage here, so I almost always opt for 90 minutes. If I find another location in this area that has good therapists and not make me feel cheated when I get a 60 min massage, I will change patronage in a heartbeat. For now, I shall enjoy what this place has to offer. Oh, and they do offer great aromatherapy and sugar foot scrubs! You may even get one for free just for checking in on Yelp! read more

Let's get something straight - I LOVE being massaged. Once every few months I go out and get someone to annihilate every knot in my 2x4 of a back. and when i get a massage, it is usually because i'm having difficulty supporting my own head, or something equally disastrous. Anyhow long story short - this lady messed me up real good/bad. Her approach was more meat tenderizing than massage. Agonizing at times. Just as everyone else has said, they didn't read our forms and 2 of my friends requested that their glutial areas be avoided...guess what wasn't avoided...yup, the butt...both were very uncomfortable with that. Mine was ok. I go to a very very good place by my house, I was just visiting this area with my girl friends. I wouldn't go back... the staff was nice, too nice. All of our massagers told us that they weren't supposed to be talking to us...yet they continued. I was getting a deep tissue so I wasn't super relaxed but both of my friends had to ask their people to stop talking so they could relax...that should never be the case. We arent' there to chat, it's to relax. It's ho-hum...and their member fee is too high for what you get. Let me start off by saying I was pretty nervous going to this location because of the previous reviews however I was that spent from a long week I needed to get a massage. I've been a member at me for about three years and there is less than a handful of people ill schedule a massage with and all of them are out of the columbia location. I moved to severna park so figured I would give this one a try. I had Andy again I was nervous since I was able to get a same day appointment don't know what I was in for ??? Andy was awesome !!!! I've been a member of Massage Envy for many years. Upon moving to Annapolis I was happy to find they had one here too and so the search began for a massage therapist that fit my needs. I am very happy to say I've found not 1 but 2. I highly recommend Jess or Sam if you like deep-tissue or sports massage. (I suspect they are awesome at the other massage varieties too but I don't request those.) The front desk staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful. They always have a smile on their face which makes the experience at Massage Envy that much better! I also like that this Massage Envy is also a spa so you can also get a facial there. I've got several facials from their various estheticians and I can say I have never been disappointed. They are always incredibly relaxing and well done. The esthetician is also happy to recommend products for you but is never pushy to try and sell them. The only minor recommendation I have is that instead of just offering glasses of water as clients leave perhaps you should consider bottled water. After a massage or facial I know it's important to hydrate and a small cup of water just doesn't do it. (I know it's less environmentally friendly but as long as folks recycle and you offer a recycle bin I don't see it as too much of a problem.) read more

First time massage. $100 Gift was given to me from my wife, for my back problems. Scheduled a week prior. Took the day off specifically for the appointment. I was asked to provide credit card information so they can charge me if I was complacent and cancelled within 24-hours. I was instructed to show up 15 minutes earlier for documentation. The morning of the appointment (2 hours prior), I was called and told my appointment was cancelled. The massage therapist stayed home due to her kids. I called back and the next available appointment was in another week. I was told from Brittany over the phone that, "Our Massage therapists are held in high regard". I respect that from a company, but needless to say, I felt very belittled with that comment. I asked if my $100 would be retrievable because the experience was unsettling. I was given a generic response that the company wouldn't allow that. I will be working my way up the chain unnecessarily and will most likely be writing this for no reason, as most corporate companies do not care or value the ideal of CUSTOMER SERVICE as I do. read more

I had a great experience with Jenn last February. She did a fantastic job on my problem areas and for how small she was had magical fingers with hard pressure. I will return to her. I tried another woman who was just okay, it really depends on who you see that makes the experience. DO NOT subscribe to monthly membership. I would give this company zero stars if possible. I cancelled this membership over eight months ago and they continue to charge my account. According to the BBB, this company does this routinely. I canceled because it was too difficult for me to get appointments at the times I was available. If you have any issue that requires a manager, they are not available.  Do not believe their yelp response of contacting Corporate office/portal for help/assistance. Did so several times with NO response. Not sure if company is lazy, inept or unethical, but makes no sense that they are causing work for themselves, customers, and credit card company for zero results. Be Very Careful With Massage Envy I'm not talking about the masseuses - the ones who worked on me are great. But the company's business practice is, to my mind, shady. I signed up for the 6-month subscription. After going to them for a while, I stopped going. I didn't cancel my contract with them thinking I would just accumulate the credits. Well, at some point I had a lot of credits (like 20). And I realized I wasn't going to keep going there. So I called to cancel my account. Surprise #1 - I had 1 month to use my 20 credits. I understand this is probably in the agreement I signed, but as far as I'm concerned it's not a customer friendly policy. There was no way I could use all 20 credits in one month. So I asked about transferring them to someone else - I was told only one transfer per 6 months. So that was out. In other words, either I keep paying a monthly fee or I lose the 20 credits (worth about $1,000). Well, I was seriously angry about that. But I decided that there was no point in throwing more money at them and I cancelled the account, eating the lost credits. That was November, 2014. Imagine my surprise on examining my credit card statement this morning to find a monthly charge from Massage Envy. So I looked back through prior months and found a charge every month - the account was never cancelled. So I called them and was told I had never signed and returned a cancellation form. Well, I had never received any such form and I told them so. They agreed to email me a new one. After waiting for 6 hours, I called back. They claimed to have the wrong email address for me and would send it again immediately. Still no form. Now, I'm sure all this was in the agreement I signed so I can't exactly say that Massage Envy is doing something illegal. But, to my thinking, they took my money, delivered no service and are making it very difficult to stop the charges. Its maybe one step removed from outright theft. So if you are thinking about buying into their pitch, or if you already have, be aware of this usury policy. And consider going somewhere that isn't just doing a money grab. read more

After posting this review the staff at the Annapolis location was going out of their way to be accomodating. I don't know if it's because they realized they were messing up my birthday or because I posted this but they ended up giving me a free facial and were very apologetic when I came in that night. (They were able to miracle me a 6:00PM appointment after all that!) The estheticians and massage therapists in Annapolis are fabulous, it's just the lack of appointments and cancelations that are annoying. Anyway, I'm moving in the near future and will transfer my membership to the location in Hawaii but if it's pretty much the same there I think that will be it for me. read more

Quite possibly the worst run business ever! The plan gives you credits but their booking availability is horrible. Also, they are always messing up accounts and canceling appointments. I would give 8 of 10 therapists 5 stars. When I can get in, the massage is always good. I give the organization 2 stars. Was so looking forward to my massage this morning. Been waiting three weeks for it. Booked it over a week ago with Amanda. I get there and they tell me there is no appointment for me. Ugh! My husband and I live in different states most of the time. We are business owners, work long hours and have tight unpredictable schedules. There is no ME in Aspen where our main home is. When he comes to Annapolis there is NEVER availability. Right now we have paid for 16 massages between us that we have not been able to use because we can never get a convenient appointment. Tried to cancel my membership, but left paying another $60 to freeze the memberships instead so that I don't loose the 16 sessions we already paid for (scammed!). Tried to switch to another ME closer to work thinking they may have more availability. I'm told I can't do that if it's within 25 miles (WTF? If I'm not happy with a location, I can't change?) So I am trapped, held hostage by ME. BAD BAD business! I do not recommend getting wrapped up into this scam company. From now on I'll be going to a real full-service spa and paying a little bit more to actually get relaxation instead of nothing but frustration. read more

I originally joined a massage envy in Clovis, CA there the prices are far more reasonable and the skill of their staff is stellar. I recently moved to the Annapolis area 3 months ago, I used to use my membership benefits promptly as soon as they were added to my account. I've only used one massage since arriving 3 months ago. The skill of the staff here well I'll be kind and call it adequate so that isolated would generate 2-3 stars however there customer service skills is what is bringing it down to one star. I recently cancelled my membership due to lack of use and funds becoming tight. I was told I had to make use of my remaining 2 credits or risk losing them. I called to see if I could gift my extra massage to my gf so it wouldn't go to waste, they said okay but she would have to pay the difference between the member and non-member price! What difference does it make who they are massaging they already got my money! Stay clear of these charlatans read more

There are few masseuses so poorly skilled that they can make your back feel worse. However, this massage envy managed to pull it off. If you get Jennifer ( Jessica?) beware. The massage was awful. The desk staff were rude and snarky. The manager refunded the massage ( I had to beg her to stop after 15 minutes it hurt so bad) and tried to apologize, hence the two stars.
