I have been a Massage Envy member for a few years now. I've had mostly good therapists/experiences from the Crofton location. But, then they move on to bigger and better things in life...I get it, it takes a special kind of person to enjoy giving massages all day, every day. The downside is I now have more banked massages than I can use due to an apparent shortage in therapists. Currently, I've been seeing LaShawn who is just as good as some of my favorites who have left. HOWEVER, what makes LaShawn different from every other therapist is that she LISTENS. I've told every therapist what I do and do not like. None have been bad to the point I would report them or say anything. They've all given great massages, but LaShawn is the FIRST one to do exactly what I ask of her. Skip the back, skip the neck, skip the chest...focus on the extremities. Hands, arms, feet, legs. That's it. I do not carry stress in my body like most do. So, I'm here to RELAX...the extremities feel the most relaxing for ME. So, at the risk of losing bookable massage appointments to other customers, I highly recommend LaShawn. As for my rating... I'm deducting one star due to the COMPANY'S inability to come up with a way to rectify the excess backlog of massages I have building up. Paid for a 60 minute session and it lasted less than 45 min. Was not impressed with the service and I felt worse the day after my session.

With mounting stress from work and school, I needed a quick, but reasonably priced fix to relieve the tension that I was carrying in my neck and shoulder area. Per doctors orders, I took a break from kickboxing, started my yoga practice again, and decided to buy the 3 month membership to ME. The Crofton location is well kept and the staff is always polite. I've had 2 massages there and my masseuse really did a good job working out the knots. During my initial visit, he said my back felt lumpy like peanut brittle. LOL. Grateful it no longer feels like that. I returned last week to try ME's facial service. It was a basic facial, but not very enjoyable. Twenty minutes into the facial I inquired about the room's temperature. It was cold, which prevented me from relaxing. The esthetician said the lady before you was comfortable... I said maybe she is a warm natured woman, but can you adjust the temperature in this room and heat the bed please (and thank you). She obliged and I eventually felt warmer. The other issue I had was the smell of some of the products. I appreciate rich, luscious products that smell nice too. Technically my regular full service spa caters to a different higher end market, but I do enjoy all my senses being stimulated. Despite my minor issues, I would recommend this location for 60 or 90 min massages and basic facials. Also, visit if you would like to buy Murad products. They stay well stocked, offer late appointments, and accept walk-ins as well. read more

This is my first time having a professional massage. Came here on a Saturday morning with my mom. She got some stretch thing (can't remember what it's called), but she said she loved it. Renee was my masseuse and she was AMAZING!! Omg that massage was so awesome I didn't want to leave. She frequently asked if everything was ok, which I appreciate. After the massage, she gave me some water and offered some recommendations for my next visit. I'll def be back and I will be requesting Renee!! I can't remember the guy at the front desk who helped us (sorry!), but he was bald and so friendly and helpful! He made sure we understood everything that we were filling out and asked us questions specific to our personal needs. He somehow was able to get my mom to become a member, which is outstanding in itself because she never signs up for anything! Good job!! The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. I had 2 terrible experiences with the massues at the Severna Park location - 1 telling me not to do yoga or I will let the devil in and another body shaming me and giving unsolicited medical advice. DO NOT go to the massage envy in Waugh chapel. I received a massage there on Saturday by Celia, which was SO painful. The therapist told me word for word "just breathe I just need to hear the crunch." I was saying ouch ouch.. and asked her to go lighter. I asked for her to just do a normal massage because it was all stretches that were extremely painful which did not happen and I was told we only have five minutes left. Then when checking out they added $10 to the total of what they originally told me because the girl who scheduled me was confused and told me the wrong amount. I called to get a refund because this was so wrong how the appointment went and the pricing. I was told by Shannon, I still received a service despite it not being what I asked for so I won't be receiving a refund. The best they can do is a 30 min massage to make up for the 60 min massage I paid for and didn't get. Why would I want to come back to receive a service less than what I paid for at a place with such bad service?? Who knows if they will actually stick to that when I'm done like the changed the price on me. The therapist also tried to promote her coming to my house and gave me her personal info. The whole place is unprofessional and a scam. The manager, Shannon, is rude, the staff is not knowledgeable of their own prices, and the massage therapist will lie to cover their own self. I had a lot of expetation for this place. Unfortunately it was one of my worst experience and I had alot massages all over the world. The ligth was on very bright in my face the whole time. No music played in the room. Actually the AC motor was very loud. The message was supposed to be 1hr but it felt like it was only 30 minutes. From a full body message service (which i paid full price for) it end up being a wired leg stretching message. When I checked-out the person at the front desk was pushing for me to sign up on their membership program. Will not be going back. Expensive and low quality service. read more

Still, it doesn't seem like it will ever be fixed, so I thought I would bring this to the attention of potential clients wanting to receive service at Massage Envy at the Waugh Chapel location. I had service done there on January 12th, my son and I. I got a massage first and completely forgot to take off my necklace because we were running behind time, and then a facial and my son got a facial done. During my massage, my necklace went missing. When my esthetician came to the same room where I got my massage done, I brought it to her attention. She said that maybe it fell and she would ask the masseuse when we were done. To make a long story short, my necklace was never found, and the manager was no help. I called her several times, sent her an email, and showed up there several times, and she wasn't any help at all. What I noticed she was good at was blowing hot smoke up your butt. She stated that she had to get the general manager to pull the camera; she couldn't access it her inself. She noted that the general manager said that it was a new camera system but that they would pull the footage off of it. I called Anne Arundel County Police and complained that someone had stolen my necklace. The manager told me to contact the 1-800 number she gave me because she stated that she could not give me the general manager's email address or anybody over her email address so I could email them directly instead of emailing her what she requested. She gave me a 1-800 number. No one ever answers, and no one ever calls you back. The manager there does not have customer service etiquette at all, and you can tell that she is not a happy person. I sat in the parking lot and called, looking at her not answer the phone, and then walked in, and she said oh, I was on another call when she was lying, but I didn't want to go back and forth with her she never answers the phone, and she doesn't follow up with you. I would suggest if anyone wants a massage, then go to Robert Andrews, which is nearby, or any other Massage Envy. You get what you pay for. read more

This is one of the worst places I have ever dealt with. They have terrible customer service. They don't have managers to help on the weekends and they try to screw you over even though you pay on time every month. The customer service is horrible. They didn't used to be so bad but I'm guessing they have changed their employees. I've been hung up on multiple times or left on hold for over 20 mins. They have canceled my scheduled massages four times with no notice and calling day of. Then not able to reschedule for over a month. They are horrible DON'T go here pick a different one if you have to use massage envy. If you don't have to go here then pick somewhere that's more professional and won't cancel on you. I have been very unhappy with Massage Envy Crofton for awhile. I can NEVER get appointments so I thought well I'll just go to Massage Envy in Annapolis which was fine. I recently decided I don't want to continue my agreement and I've had it longer than the year (actually almost two years now) so I didn't think it would be an issue. Even cancelling is an issue. I have gone by the Crofton location and they always give me the run around and seem clueless on how to terminate my contract. So I emailed and called them, they finally emailed me back, I sent my part of the cancellation portion back and stated I would do sign it after they return it with their portion filled out. Now they are telling me I have to sign it before they can fill it out. Excuse me? Who signs a document before it is completely filled out? Not me. Now they're telling me I have to come in on certain times/days because there is only one person able to cancel my agreement. Unfortunately, Massage Envy Crofton is a franchise and I cannot cancel in Annapolis. Absolutely ridiculous getting the run around and so much rudeness from them. read more

They did not offer any add on services that I often get (example hot towels, oil, with bio freeze). My appointment was at 3:30pm. I arrived a few minutes early. My massage therapist was friendly and nice however, he never asked if I would like the heat turned on for the massage table, if the pressure he was applying was ok before or during the massage. He started me face down. When he got to my feet when I was face down at times it appeared if maybe he was dozing off/falling asleep due to his brief slow stops when he was rubbing extremely slow on my feet..(3 second stops when rubbing my feet) . To his credit he did ask how was I feeling towards the end of the massage and also after the massage. He did focus on a problem area in my neck. Although he was a nice guy, I would say the massage in general was a "lazy massage service". (A mild rub down service with occasionally some forearm techniques. Also I would have preferred the massage therapist flip flop sliders be kept on not off when providing service to clients. Even though my head was face down in the neck rest, my eyes were open and I could still see. The room was a little stuffy. Again, he was a nice guy but I'm keeping it honest with my opinion. (Massage Therapist first Name I purposely decided not to provide out of respect, only first initial "J". I also would like to suggest that the start and end times of the massage be verbalized. This was a 90 minute service and I question if I even received 75 minutes. I was walked back at 3:38pm. It took 1) 20 seconds to arrive to the massage room; 2 minutes for follow up briefing during which I asked for a breast pillow; 3 minutes for therapist to return with breast pillow; 1 minute for me to undress; it took quite a while 6 minutes before the therapist returned my massage actually began. All and all the location is clean. I have received much better front desk customer service at the Arundel Mills, Columbia, and Elliott City locations. This was my first time visiting this location. This massage envy location is privately owed so they don't honor the free birthday add on service if they are not your home office. read more

I have been a member of Massage Envy for years and I have always used the Crofton location. My experience at this location was always positive but in the past year it has drastically changed. This location is under staffed and it makes it very difficult to schedule any appointments. Every time I try to schedule an appointment the receptionist informs me they don't have enough therapist and to try again next month. They offer to put me on a waiting list but never call me for the services that I utilize. During the last year I have accumulated 18 sessions by pay my monthly fee but haven't been able use them. This has become very frustrating to me as a customer. I have asked for some assistance from the management team and they have been less then helpful. It doesn't make sense for me to continue to pay my month fee and accumulate more sessions if I am not able to use the lesions that I already have. The problem is Message Envy traps you because they will not allow you to use the sessions that you have already paid for if you don't continue to pay their monthly fee. I feel that they have over sold their services and can nolonger meet the customers needs. I would highly recommend that you spend your time and money with a massage therapist that relives your stress and doesn't provides you with more stress in your life. read more

I've had a ME membership for about two years now. I have not been disappointed with any of the massages I've had at the Crofton location. Sure, some therapists are not a great fit - for me. I generally like to bounce around, because all the therapists give a different massage. It only took 2 or 3 massages to find my person. I've had positive experiences with all the people at the front desk - no complaints. I was wary of a chain place and the quality, but so far so good. True, the massages are a bit short due to how they schedule, but the massages are still worth it, IMO. read more

I would like to thank the mangers for being so understanding and willing to work around mistake made with my appointments.
