I had a horrible experience with the San Tan location regarding the cancellation of my account. I was told I would receive a cancellation form via email, but I never received the form or any follow-up emails or reminders from that location. Because of this, I went to another location, where I immediately received the proper form and confirmation emails/texts without any issues. Due to the lack of follow-through between the two locations, my account was not canceled on time and I was charged for an additional month. Over the past five months, I made multiple phone calls and never received a callback from a manager. When I finally reached a manager after being on hold for 30 minutes, she refused to hear my side of the situation and stated that I was owed nothing. I also spoke with several staff members previously and was told there were no notes documenting my calls, even though I had contacted them multiple times. I was informed their system was having issues. I personally documented names and dates, but the manager (Megan) was unwilling to review or discuss this information. Overall, the lack of communication, accountability, and customer service has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. read more

This place is a joke. My husband was a member for so, so many years. Credits were transferred to his account a year ago for his birthday as a gift and every time he books an appointment, they conveniently "can't find them". I cannot even tell you how many times I talked to the manager at the Chandler location and she's assured me they're there - shes even given me the steps to walk the front desk through to find the damn credits but they still can't. Today, they called and cancelled his massage 15 minutes before the service - why? Because he can't use them there they said. no other reason. No offer to see if he wants to keep the appointment or anything so my husband said he would cancel then and she just hung up right away. No goodbye, no sorry, nothing. I went straight to the bathroom, threw out the water she brought me, washed everything I could, didn't tip a penny, went straight home and showered twice and still ended up sick as shit 3 days later. I bought my wife their Mother's Day special package for two massages for $200 and we both went together today to use them. After we finished our massages they still charged us another $35 before the tip. Also both of our massages weren't 60 min long like we chose. Hers was ended 10 min early and mine was only 40 min long. During my massage the therapist spent more time resting her elbow in my back in one spot for 5 min before she would move again. Also towards the end of the massage when she moved to my neck she would put her fingers on the back of my neck and sit there without moving and working everything out. I actually got bored of the massage and it felt half assed. It was way over priced and we won't be going back read more

Very friendly, clean location. I've tried three other locations in the area and this one is the most consistent with great service. I also prefer most of the masseuses at this particular ME. I went to get a massage on Mother's Day for a nice relaxing treat. It was anything but. I asked for medium pressure Swedish and what I got was very deep tissue sports massage meant for a giant man. I told him it was too hard at the beginning and he kept doing hard arm and elbows all over. I'm usually sad that it's over so fast but this time I could not wait for it to be over. I went to check out and they asked if everything was good and I said no. There were 4 people behind the desk. She just looked at me and asked if I wanted to tip and then if I'd like to schedule my next appointment. No 'I'm sorry' or 'what happened' or anything. And not the back of my neck and upper back are swollen. It hurts to lay down or sit back. Edit to add: I changed this to 2 stars from 1 star because the manager reached out and actually gave me a refund. I am sad that I had to leave negative reviews to even get any acknowledgment for my experience. Although I did have a negative experience, the manager handled it appropriately. read more

I was appalled that I was not informed of the mask requirement until the day of my appointment. I would've canceled and gone somewhere else with prior notice. I then was appalled with the demeanor of Diane for the whole massage. Not only did she talk about COVID the entire time, she asked me my personal health information that she did not need to know to give a massage. By far the least relaxing massage I have ever received. I left frustrated. I gave her short answers hoping she would get the hint. She also shared other client's personal health decisions with me that she has no business knowing or sharing. I was polite, as I was worried that if I shared my opinion or asked her to stop, the quality of my massage would change. I hope you will do something to rectify this and improve the quality of your customers' experience. This was the least customer-comfort concerned massage I have had. This is just like any other Massage Envy for the most part. Their relaxation room was a little sparse compared to others that I've been to in terms of refreshment options. The layout of the facility is pretty much the same as all the others. The actual massage room I was in was clean, but looked old and almost like it was a storage room that had been converted to be a massage room. I don't think they even went to school. My fiancé and I scheduled a couple's massage. This was the first time he'd received a massage. He was happy with his therapist and had a pleasant experience. My experience was not as good. No one was rude or mean. They were all nice. The problem was with my overall massage. I'm not sure if I had a less experienced therapist, or if my expectations were too high, but I left feeling worse than when I first arrived. It felt like the massage left me in suspense. I didn't feel comfortable explaining what the therapist should be doing as I assumed anyone employed at this place should already be properly trained. The therapist's movements did not feel fluid; they were choppy and short. Just when it would feel like a knot was going to be pushed away, the therapist would pull her hands away and start on a new area. When she was rubbing my hands, she'd briefly rub the knuckles and start enveloping my whole hand as though she'd pull the fingertips, but she'd stop just before the outer joint on the fingers. There was no complete pull. The same thing happened on the feet and toes. I got so tense waiting for that calming follow through, only to be left disappointed. I also explained what areas needed to be focused on prior to the start, but that was pointless. I wanted the focus on my head, neck, and shoulders. My head and scalp were not touched, but my legs got the most attention. While checking out, the woman at the front had an idea I wasn't happy. She offered me another introductory rate massage. Honestly, I'm pretty sure I won't be giving them more money to wow me with an inadequate massage. Thanks, but no thanks. read more

Massage therapist was great! she gave a wonderful massage but all I heard for the entire hour was a male and female voice talking and laughing in the massage room next to us while getting my massage. I'm always happy to hear people having a good time but not when trying to relax. It sounded like they were in the break room. the therapist didn't even take a pause. I can understand talking before and after a massage to ask clients questions and then stop talking so others can enjoy their service. The one star is for the excessive talking. This massage envy as well as their staff are the best I've ever been too. Originally from New York, I have gone to massage envy's there that are pushy with their sales and the massages are mediocre. I had my first massage with Gintaras over a month ago and walked out asking for a membership before the staff even had a chance to ask me. I have been getting bi-weekly massages since and have gotten the same experience every time. The best part of the experience is my massage therapist, Gintaras. not only does he help me relax but is also looking out for problem areas and knots that specifically need attention. The person that did my facial was amazing!!! I definitely would have go back! While checking out I paid for my services and I get her a tip in cash. When asked if I wanted to schedule a new appointment I set one up. Thing back on in the person that took my payment didn't ask me if I wanted a membership or any relationship with this company. I forgot to cancel my appointment due to poor customer service provided when I was paying. I then received Avalon's today as I work 60 plus hours a week forgot about the appointment. Was told I was being charged a $35 dollar fee for missing my appointment. I don't remember providing them with authorization to keep my card information on file. Nor did I sign up for a membership. I was a member at the Elliot location for well over a year so when I moved to Gilbert I hoped to continue that trend. I had always had pretty good luck with Massage Envy until this place. I would ask for deep tissue and get some weird form of Swedish with excuses of why he/she couldn't do deep tissue during that particular session. "But the next session...." So either this is their way of ensuring return business or between now and my next session they're going to YouTube deep tissue techniques. Whatever. This location is the reason I canceled my membership. Touch of Tranquility is just down the road. It's worth every penny! read more

I was skeptical of Massage Envy, as it is a franchise and I am used to going to boutique spas, but it came highly recommended and its pricing was very reasonable. I would never go there again. The staff was friendly enough, but it was not a relaxing experience. It lacked all the ambiance and relaxation that a good spa has. And the massage... well, everybody in my group (there were 3 of us), ended up in more pain after we left than when we came in. Our pain isn't the usual kind that sometimes happens with deep tissue massage. In my case, I now have restricted range of motion in my neck and my friends have voiced similar complaints. The person who gave me a "massage" didn't have enough training to do his job well. He didn't seem to have a good working knowledge of insertion and trigger point and he didn't apply enough lotion, which made for an odd experience in and of itself. Massage Envy may be cheap, but it is not worthy skimping on, especially when you might very likely leave with more problems than you came in with. read more

I like Massage Envy for the hours and the location, but the quality of massages that I get here are pretty average. At least I can say I've never gotten a terrible massage here (that happened at the other Gilbert location), but I haven't had any amazing ones either. Like all other Massage Envys, the therapists are a mixed bag. Many newbies so there's a high amount of turnover. I've seen a couple good ones that I hope will stay awhile. Massage Envy is a good way to spend your Flex Spending Account dollars if you have them, but it's always a struggle to get the proper documentation at the beginning of the year. This location is particularly bad compared to my "home" Dobson location. The fact that you can't move your home location when you relocate also frustrates me. read more

I was a member of Massage Envy for a year. When they did not auto renew my membership and I lost 3 massages. I requested the massages be honored and I would renew my membership for another year, as I had not intended to cancel my membership. I left my number for the manager and have yet to receive a return call. Massage Envy will not notify you that your membership is being cancelled... despite they have your phone number and email on file and will fill your inbox with plenty other promos. Which may result in the loss of several massages if you have banked any during the year. I think if you have a choice, I recommend taking your business elsewhere as it is quite clear that Massage Envy does not value is customers, does not care about customer retention, nor does it seemed in any way concerned about bringing restitution over customer complaints. read more

I am a big fan of the Massage Envy program, in general, and this particular location is very well maintained, clean and every therapist I have been treated by has been very good. I recommend the 90 minute sessions over the 60 minute sessions because there is a fixed amount of time at the beginning and end of each session for set up and exit, so the 90 minute sessions result in a lot more therapeutic activity being delivered. read more

I've been going to massage envy off and on for several years...the reoccurring theme is the ever changing staff... Definitely a mixed bag when it comes to the therapists! My advice is... Once you find a good therapist stick with them if you can! The biggest problem is the turnover! It's really hard to find consistency and have good results when the staff doesn't seem to stick around. Pros: price is very reasonable if you sign a contract enrolling in the wellness program! Also I often call the day of asking for an appointment and I usually get in right away! I have had great help from the ladies at the front desk and the massage therapists I've booked sessions with are great! I'm a very athletic and active person, so finding a massage therapist who can cater to those aches and cramps while giving me the right amount of pressure to get my knots out is very important. Massage envy has figured out a formula to do all of these things with style and grace. I went with a friend and we both had such great experiences that he signed up for a membership (or is about to). My therapist was Sarah C and she rocked it! Ginterest, the masseuse was very considerate and frequently checked in about the pressure and was careful that I was covered up. I've been very happy with my membership of over 3 years. I have bounced around various therapists with many being exceptional, and have delightfully finalized with Kim for deep tissue and Bea for facials. All of my therapists have been above average with an understanding that some are better suited to me than others. The entry/waiting room is rather meh, despite a recent upgrade. The "chill" room out to be utilized more. It's very empty with most people looking awkward as they wait for their appointment. Perhaps ME would benefit from a dedicated attendant who gets you water and escorts you into the chill room. Largely, and somewhat sadly, the cool room is often left unoccupied. Once you get into a session, it's a soothing welcome. Massage therapists and Estheticians selections are a very personal matter. For me, Kim and Bea are unequaled. I would welcome Massage Envy, as an organization to leverage the individual skills of their staff rather than the existing "one size fits all" ideology. However, it's hard to complain about their business model when you are getting a professional, highly qualified massage/facial for $50 a month. I would recommend setting a "next available" appointment and sampling the various therapists. When you find the one(s) that work for you, then make your appointment by name. There are many highly qualified attendants, but like with everything, you need to find what works for you. read more

The therapist I use at this location is awesome. I will follow her, if she ever leaves this site. The location itself, is not consistant in its customer service. Often times, I feel as though I am troubling the receptionists, by checking in, or making my next appointment. With that said, I get the impression, all locations have their troubles. I have heard employees complain about one site or another. Attitude can make or break a place; I hope whoever is in charge creates a better atmosphere overall. read more

For the most part, I agree with Lauren S. I went in for my neck and it was neglected!!! The entire staff was awkward and unfriendly. I really feel like I wasted an hour of my life. She couldn't locate my tight areas even after I had asked her to work on my neck 3 times! Even more shocking is the last 2 times I went there the service was amazing! The owner was there she was so friendly and both therapists had years of experience and worked the aches right out! I just feel like the service is inconsistent. This time it was so bad I honestly suggested I should leave 40 minutes into my session. The reason why I will never go back is because the lady at the desk wasn't cooperative when I told her I would be back if she would grant me a discount for the terrible service.
