At first I enjoyed my appointment but I am very disappointed because the woman who gave me a massage had a cough and a sniffling nose. I have a bad cough now, she said later to another customer that she was sick as a dog last week. I'm highly disappointed and could become very sick. I would not recommend going to a company who allows their employees to come in even when they are sick. I now currently have one of the worst colds I have ever had. If only I could give negative stars.... I wish I never came to this Massage Envy, mainly because of a massage therapist named Ericka. Don't ever go to her, especially if you lost a child. I came for a massage and ended up in "counseling" with a very insensitive person. My daughter, Amaya, passed away in February of this year. Massage Envy had my prenatal massages on file so Ericka asked how old my baby was. I told her that she passed away. Then the insensitive comments from Ericka started.. She told me that I could just get another baby and if I read a lot of books, I will be fine. News flash: my daughter is not replaceable! Amaya is one of a kind! I could read all of the books in the damn world and it will never take away the aching pain from my heart, especially as a mother. Her insensitive comments really blew my mind. I was too in shock to say anything so instead I went to my car and cried. I decided to schedule another appointment with her and express to her how her words hurt more than they helped. It was also because I didn't want her words to hurt another grieving mother/family. Before I could say anything, her comments started again... She asked how I am doing with my "situation." Um, do you mean my daughter's death? My daughter is a person, not a situation. She then said that as time goes on, I will get better. HA HA funny words coming from someone who isn't forced to walk this awful and scary path. Any person who has lost a child knows that this horrible pain is a life time pain. More comments were made and she continued to poke mama bear. I finally told her to stop the insensitive comments as I will not let anyone belittle my baby's life. She apologized but proceeded to tell me that I wasn't right and that I'm just sad. I'm more than sad, but that doesn't give Ericka or anyone else the right to cross personal lines. The worst part is that she told me that I should release my baby's ashes, because I would be holding her back and it's not good for her if I keep her. I'm her mother. I birthed her. I will do what is right for me and her on my own time when I am ready. I don't need a stranger from Massage Envy telling me what's best for my daughter. I would never tell another mother what to do with their child, especially their deceased child. That's a line you never cross, unless you are insensitive and heartless. Ericka, if you are reading this, I can tell that you don't know loss. I'm glad that you don't have to walk a day in my and my family's shoes, but please think about things before you say them. If you or anyone you love lose their precious child, I would hope no one ever says all of the things you've said to me. You can call me a little girl like you did all you want, but I'm 25 and old enough to know when someone is being insensitive. Again, you crossed several lines. Next time, change your words, mind your business, and do your job instead. DO BETTER, MASSAGE ENVY! Get her out of there before she hurts more grieving families. I do not feel comfortable going inside the Massage Envy location due to Covid, and have been advised I can not cancel my contract and obtain a refund. I was advised I would be given a phone call back and this never happened, from a Supervisor since they do not have a Manager on site. I finally reached a Supervisor by calling and this lady told me she runs 4 stores. This happened to me twice. I was advised the only way they will refund me is if I obtain a medical problem or if I move away. I am not even near their location. So I traveled out of my way before Covid to obtain services. I was also charged for a month that I did not agree to. I still was not able to get a refund, although my account was frozen at this time. They charged me $180, and are stating I can not get a refund. I was not given a corporate number when asked, but only a guest services email. I am really hoping contacting the BBB, and anyone else I can find, to be able to get my money back as I have been treated poorly and do not wish to go back into this place. read more

I've been going to this massage envy for about 4 years and I can confirm that Brittney is the best. She does the right amount of deep tissue pressure that helps keep me going after some rough workouts and frequent migraines. She has always been available during the craziness that is 2020, providing me with relaxation, relief and her special brand of humor. I've been a loyal customer since 2015, and have nothing but the best compliments to give for the masseuses that work at this Massage Envy! They have done outstanding work over the 4 years I've been coming here. However, this 1 star review is for the location's Manager Aliza and the front counter staff that she oversees. Less than impressed doesn't even come close to the lasting impression they've left upon me. The last two experiences I've had when checking out after my amazing massages (2/8/19 & 2/28/19) I've received such horrible customer service from them it left the most foul taste in my mouth about this franchise. The employees working the front counter mimic the behavior of sloths as they are to be checking you out for your services and booking your next appointment. They were rude when asked to make change for a $20 bill to be able to tip $15 of it and receive $5 back. On 2/8/19 it took 10 minutes to get rang out and booked for my next appointment due to their painfully slow pace. On 2/28/19 it was even worse, with a total time of 20 minutes to get rang out for my services, leave a tip, request that I receive a receipt of payment and to book my next appointment. These tasks should only take 3-5 minutes at the most. It took 20 minutes! I kept explaining that I had somewhere I needed to be, and if they could please work to quickly finish up the task. They were rude, sloth-paced, and so unapologetic for not only wasting my time, but everyone else waiting to be helped too. They repeatedly told me in a condescending manner that they had upgraded to a new system, so none of it could possibly be their fault. I was understanding about the difficulties a new system can cause. But again, no rush to work with any sort of purpose, lack of communication with me as to what was going on and why it was taking so long to complete the task of checking me out. When I asked to speak with the manager, because I was worried about being late to my next appointment of the day, she was the rudest and most condescending employee I've ever had to deal with. Aliza has no sense of what good customer service is, and I explained to her I didn't appreciate being treated with disrespect as a paying and loyal customer for 4 years. I brought up that this is the 2nd time consecutively that I've encountered issues with the front counter staff, and that if this is to happen again, I will cancel my membership for good. Aliza, with a rude attitude told me "I don't know what you're expecting from us." I explained that all I'm looking for is to be treated with respect, I am a paying customer after all, for the staff to be kind, nice, and to provide great customer service, despite any difficulties they encounter in their day. All I expect is professionals to act as such. That's 2 strikes, one more and your out forever Massage Envy. I'd highly recommend anyone who encounters the staff here, if your ever treated with disrespect, speak up for yourself, and don't allow the Manager Aliza or any of the staff to get away with treating you that way. Educate them as needed what being a kind human being means, because they've lost all concept of what that means. read more

Very dependent on the therapist you get. I've had both a good and bad experience at this location. Alexis was great - on time, did exactly what I needed and even things I didn't think I needed like stretching my limbs. Rose wasn't so great for me - she talked the entire time and I found it incredibly hard to relax with her. She also was 10 minutes late getting me in when I was 15 mins early, then she also didn't even go the full hour I paid for. She did however do a good job addressing my problem areas. read more

Not only was I told I had to cancel in person, you have to cancel at the location you signed up at. They had to take the information from the gift card so they had it in their computer however because I missed my appointment for personal reasons they said I couldn't have my gift card back and they took my $60.00. I have never paid for a missed appointment in the amount of $60.00. I call that conning the consumer. I will never recommend them and will make sure my sister and niece cancel their membership. Massage Elements is way better they didn't pressure me into any membership and when I did miss an appointment they did let me know know next time I will be charged $25. It all started when my friend gave me a first time visit discount for a massage. I enjoyed the massage so much that I became a member. And as time went along, and life's little challenges have been coming up along the way, I started dealing with a lot of tightness in my shoulders and back. Thank goodness I've been having this membership for a few years now because my therapist, Kabren Stevens, takes that tightness away every visit. I would probably be in constant pain if it wasn't for her working on my problem areas every month and this membership that I have at Massage Envy. read more

I went here within the last month and was treated nicely, but the costumer service was not the issue. The day after my massage, my back broke out in what I thought was acne. I haven't suffered from back acne since I was a teenager, but at the time, it seemed plausible to me. The next couple days my rash seemed to worsen and was extremely itchy, which is not like typical acne. I went in to see my dermatologist and she told me without a doubt that it was folliculitis and she wasn't surprised it happened after my massage. And for anyone doubting that it came from my massage, I'm not joking when I say I went to bed that night without one bump on my back, and woke up covered. Plus I'm currently on antibiotics and it's healing the way it should be, acne doesn't heal with antibiotics so you tell me. The staff is friendly and helpful, but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to my health. read more

Not only are the massages mediocre at best (they hire new therapists straight out of school that don't know what they're doing so they can pay them a smaller %), they also don't honor their commitments to the memberships they have. My husband had paid for a membership for years and didn't use it anymore. When he went to close the acct they told him he had 3 unused massages left on the acct and said he could transfer them to me. When I tried to make an appt for a massage they were all of a sudden always booked for 2 weeks out (I used to be able to get in the same day 90% of the time). This happened for SEVERAL weeks. I gave it a break for a few months and then called today to make an appt. It turns out that those massages (that were obtained through months of paying for a membership and not using it) had an expiration date! #1: They didn't tell my husband that there was an expectation date on the remaining massages and 2: They purposely gave me the run around till they expired. 3: I don't even know if what they did was legal (I might have to look into that). Long story short, Massage Envy is a horrible company, not to be trusted! read more

Message envy has always been difficult with there policy on cancellation and re-activation. please be careful when signing up or canceling I was going to be charged $75 for a message and my friend was going to be charged $35 because he had never been at a message envy before it's just difficult to do business with this company the company does offer a good message but just dealing with the policies turns me off from using them read more

I've been a member here since 2008. I am mostly satisfied with what you get for the cost. I had a wonderful therapist who unfortunately left about a year ago. Since the, it's been frustrating that the massages are all very inconsistent. Some take forever to come back once you are put in the room, although the clock is ticking on your supposed 50 minutes. That is my only true complaint. I know they need the extra ten minutes in an hour to prepare the room for the next customer but we should get 50 actual minutes of massage. I'm frequently dressed, paid, and back in my car before an hour is up. That's not right. They have also called to cancel my last three appointments due to supposed emergencies with the therapist. Three times? Really? Prior to these three cancellations I made an appt as I left from a massage, at the front desk, and when I returned for it they didn't have my name scheduled. They gave me a different masseuse but it was a pathetic massage. If they read this and would like constructive criticism I would just ask that a client s given 50 actual minutes of massage time. I do feel that it is a very clean and pleasant atmosphere. read more

Well I decided to try Message Envy in Goodyear as a first time customer. I made an online appointment early in the day yesterday for 2pm today and got an email confirmation. When I arrived I was told they did not have an appointment for me. So I showed them the email and was told that they were sorry but they were "trouble shooting" their online appointment system because "we have had other customers who booked online and show up and we don't have their appointment either."The best they could do was offer me another day or a male therapist for later today but I had requested female. I had just run a 1/2 marathon race on Sunday and did not want to go later in the week. I requested today for my recovery. This was a really poor experience for a first time visitor. I eventually called the Avondale location and got in an hour and a half later with Andrea who was great. However I did not join as a member based on my bad experience in Goodyear. I have been coming for a few months and I must say that the front desk staff has really gone downhill. I met a new lady named Brittnay or I guess that is her spelling being she does not wear a name tag. She did not stand to greet me like others do such as Carly or Mihra (spelling sorry). Brittnay did not ask me if I wanted to check out so after my time I had to stand in line AGAIN just to use one of my prepaids to check instead of just leaving. It is not the first time I have had this happen. The interaction with the staff in the front is just getting poor so beware of poor customer service! read more

I am writing this under a friend of mine cause I signed up for membership but do not want the workers there to treat me differently for what I am about to post. I had a facial with a girl named Chloe. I did not enjoy it! She talked the whole time and she shorted me on time!! I did not get the full 50 minutes, I had 40 minutes. Her massage on the facial was only a few minutes. Beware of getting a facial with her!!! I alos got a tour of the spa and it honestly looked really messy like the massage beds all looked half made. I had been gifted a 90-minute massage gift card almost six years ago. Shame on me for not using sooner. I scheduled my session online and I just loved that process, it was very straightforward, easy and convenient. I have been struggling with some inflammation issues that cause many discomforts along with sleepless nights. I did not realize how emotional these kinds of issues can make you at times. So I arrived at my appointment on time and all of the staff were very kind, discrete and considerate. As the consultant came to check me in and do my pre-massage consult, I totally started balling (IDK Why?, Just Did!) She was so patient and considerate of my emotions and concerned with the issues that she gave me tips as she has experienced the same. She discreetly conveyed what was going on with me to the therapist and they all really took care of me. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was that I was offered a monthly membership at a certain price per month "on that visit only" that I probably was not really ready to commit to due to my emotional state. I wish I would have taken a moment longer to think clearly before I went through with it. I will choose to accept my decision as a temporary monthly blessing to take a moment to relax and meditate on the Lord while I'm there. read more

The facility is clean, the staff is friendly, but...when you buy the membership be aware that if you want to cancel, there is a $98 cancellation fee. Membership is one year. My biggest gripe is - I never get my full hour massage. I've made it a point to pay attention to what time I'm taken back (and I am always early) and to what time they finish. My hour is sometimes 45 minutes, sometime 50 minutes, but never 60 minutes. So basically after three massages, I'm giving away/back to them a massage that I've already, under contract, paid for! I am cancelling my membership and I am going to dispute paying the cancellation because they have not upheld their obligations to the membership. Let's see how it goes! read more
