I've been a ME Member for probably 20yrs and have gone to many locations. This store (Lakeline) is 5+ Stars! Reception was warm & welcoming. The waiting lounge was large, comfortable and relaxing. The bathroom was clean and stocked (the whole store was clean!). The noise level was a calming quiet. And, my therapist Ernesto was outstanding! You don't even know your appointment has been canceled or rescheduled until you show up for your appointment. It's not all Massage Envy's just the Lakeline store. Poorly managed. I signed up for the year membership and had a hard time finding a therapist that was consistently effective. I also dealt with a number of last minute cancellations from their therapist. After my year membership passed, I called to cancel and oh man was that a terrible and troubling experience. They first had to get a manager to give me one last try and keep me paying- no thank you, I'd just like to cancel. They then informed me that I have to complete forms to cancel. I again, communicated that I'd simply like to cancel. Can't do that, have to fill out more forms and if I don't fill them out, they will keep charging me. I pushed back and said that was not very customer friendly and their manager began to speak over me and get very agitated. It appeared as though this person needed a significant amount of training in how to positively interact with paying customers. Just a straight up shake down, poor experience with the massage therapist and the front office was just terrible. Would not recommend anyone sign up if you're looking for consistent, high quality massages, or a positive and friendly front office. 0 stars after my experience with management, just left a bitter taste. read more

I made my first ever massage appointment. I chose Massage Envy because it was close and I knew other people who had been for a massage. The massage was for my daughter. Unexpectedly my daughter got a sunburn and she would not be able to attend her massage the following day. I cancelled the appointment via text and received a confirmation that the appointment was cancelled. Two days later, I noticed they charged me for the massage. I wrote the contact us email on massage Envy's website. No response. I called the Lakeline location. Someone took my name and number and said a manager would call back. No one did. I finally called back and pleaded and apologized for not knowing about their 24 hr cancellation policy. I asked it there was any way she could work with me. She said no. I emailed the contact us on message Envy's website again. Still no response. I will never go there. I will always tell people what happened. read more

Location doesn't stand behind online prices. I booked a 90 min massage at the introductory rate as shown at step 1 on the website (see attached image). Shortly after, I received a call from the location saying "that the price was actually $188" and they just "wanted to make sure that we're on the same page." "No, we aren't on the same page - because nowhere on the website between me selecting the package, the date/time, and checkout does it say the price is $188." So they came up with their own story of how the intro price is only offered after you become a member. Which is another layer of nonsense, because why would it let me book the appointment and check out online as a guest? There are a million ways to handle business, and the route they chose means that not only will I not go to this Massage Envy location, but likely any of their locations. No biggie. I cancelled the appointment and am heading over to Viva Day Spa at the Domain. read more

I have been a member for several years but the last year of constant changes, unprofessional behavior, inaccurate information, and refusal to provide resolutions has led me to cancel my membership and post my experience. Ugo is amazing and the only reason I have stayed with this company for this long. She is professional, attentive, and works very hard. I would highly recommend her services. Carmen has also been great with facials! That is where it stops for me. We have been charged (in error) over $700, lied to about policies, apologized to and told it was previous staffs fault but things will change moving forward. That has not been my experience: I had to follow up multiple times because my emails were being ignored only to be told there was nothing they could do and no one else to contact to appeal. Because there was no record on their end they are making no attempts to rectify the situation. The membership was cancelled in May 2024, confirmed by a different manager in September 2024 but we continued to be charged through March 2025. It was brought back up last month where all credit cards were still showing active. Over the last year, multiple front desk staff have complained about the turnover, lost paperwork and most recently the "chaos". This company does not take any responsibility for the error nor care about providing quality customer service. It is a shame because that has not always been the case. Please give it some extra thought and read the fine print in all of the documentation if you decide to work with this company. This is certainly a case of buyer beware. read more

Just do a search for "Massage Envy sexual assault" before signing up for these guys. Or "Massage Envy Wiretapping" (yes, you read that right). This location is by far the worst. The staff seems so young and just come for a job and not for the clients. I stopped going almost a year ago because of this and the therapist was late and did not apologize right away. My MIL transferred me some credits but they put them in my old account with a different name. It just has been such a horrible experience after management changed over the years. read more

I was so looking forward to have a much needed massage today!! Now I'm standing in the line at the grocery store , tired and with aching muscles, I never got a massage... I called and booked the appointment a few days ago and everything was ok, zero warnings that I might have to wear a mask! When I got there they had a sign that masked were optional. But the front desk were not wearing one and they were friendly. Then my masked up massage therapist came and took me to the massage room. We talked about the session and everything was normal (except she was wearing a mask, it was hard for me to hear as I have a hearing loss and read lips, but her choice) When she was about to leave the room she said I had to wear a mask when she was massaging me when I have my face up!! (Yeah that makes so much sense) I said nicely I'm not gonna wear a mask. She said she might have an other massage therapist but unfortunately no other one was available. At front desk the friendly smiles were gone and I felt like a walking germ with a deadly disease. I felt discriminated because I didn't want to wear a mask! Nothing about we are so sorry and the one you spoke to on the phone should have told you that you need to wear a mask when facing upward at the massage table. Nothing!!! They made me feel 100% awful and disappointed. They reschedule me for an other day, but know I will cancel that and perhaps comeback when they treat their guests nicely! read more

There are simply not enough therapists and/or they have sold too many memberships than what they can handle. S/O and I booked out massages to the end of December, and one of the therapists quit. When we tried to reschedule with a new therapist, the best they could do is give us appts like 90 min apart? Who in the same household wants to either drive separately or drive together and wait 90 min for the other to get done? Not great customer service. read more

The massage therapist I saw at this Massage Envy was excellent, but any place that expects clients to strip naked and literally put themselves in an employee's hands needs to come across as completely ethical and trustworthy, and this business failed that test. Some family members and I were recently given a set of booked and paid for massages, which was a thoughtful surprise. We arrived and were checked in promptly, and when I asked the woman at the front desk about the arrangements, she told us that the gift cards were all set up under our names and the massages were fully paid for. And yes, she very clearly phrased it as just "the massages." Then she quietly sat there as we had an open conversation about whether everyone had enough cash for a good tip. A young man came to walk two members of our group step-by-step through the sign-in forms, while the first desk attendant we spoke to gave the rest of us tablets and was curt with my mother-in-law when she asked a few questions. But whatever. No big deal. All of our massage therapists showed up to take us back right on time, and the woman I saw was pleasant, professional, and did a great job of working on my trouble spots. I gave her a 30% tip in cash as I was leaving, and the experience was well worth that. Two of our group left similar sized tips, but since I knew my mother-in-law planned to tip at the front desk and she hadn't come out yet, I gave some cash to the woman who checked us in and told her it was to cover my mother-in-law's share of our group's tip. She told me that was fine. Five minutes later, I see my mother-in-law digging through her purse in front of this same woman, who hadn't said a word about me already leaving that last tip. I quickly told my mother-in-law that I'd taken care of it while the Massage Envy employee just sat there and smiled like she wasn't about to take another 30% in cash from a senior citizen on a fixed income. Then I asked if we needed to do anything else to check out, and the employee told us that we were all covered. Something about the way she said it sounded a little strange, so before leaving I thought to double check if there was any balance remaining on the gift cards. She finally mentioned that no, the gift cards had been for $100 each, and the person who'd made the appointment said to run them for $70 for each massage and then put the remainder towards a tip. So that's what she'd done. Without, of course, communicating that to any of us despite the talk we had right in front of her and the fact that we'd almost triple-tipped for my mother-in-law. That meant we'd already unknowingly left 70% in tips, and one of us came a few moments from leaving 100% of the cost of the massage. When explaining all this, she gave me a fake smile and an even faker "I was just doing what I was told" apology that I've worked service jobs long enough to completely understand. I debated over leaving this review because we did all enjoy our massages. But that employee misled our group about what we were covered for, nearly took advantage of my mother-in-law when my back was turned, and practically gloated about it. The whole experience was shady, and given that this employee talked around the issue so smoothly that we almost didn't notice we'd been taken for a lot of extra cash, it's impossible to believe that this is a one-time thing. It is impossible to make a reservation without planning months in advance which doesn't work well in a schedule that often requires travel on short notice. This was my first time getting a massage so I was excited! I had Tina, she was very nice and explained how it worked , asked which areas I felt that were hurting. When I was unsure of what areas she explained what would be done to them to reassure me. She did work on the specific areas I told her and it felt great. She was on time and finished on time too! The pressure was deep, but adjusted when I told her it was too deep for me! The only things I'd remind them is to tell me about the upgrades, I was interested in the aromatherapy and muscle therapy but just ended up asking for aromatherapy because I somewhat new what that was! Then ask the client if the towels are too hot because they were a little spicy on my back! Other than that everything was awesome!! I'll be back for sure! read more

Fantastic! I love this Massage Envy! I've been going to Massage Envy for years. I started back in Las Vegas where I am from. Those locations were all nice, but this location in Austin is great! I have had the best experiences here over the past few months and I am so happy to have found this location! The rundown: -Nice location. It's right next to a Super Target, so it even saves time when you can get a massage and your weekly Target run done in one stop! -Great store! This location is always clean and organized. -The front desk staff is always happy and helpful. If ever they can't answer a question, they work hard to figure it out and get back to you quickly. -My favorite part is my massage therapist Sara! My first visit, I didn't know who to ask for. I asked the front desk person to recommend someone and that is how I ended up with Sara. From massage #1, I knew I had my new masseuse! If you want a great massage, ask for Sara! We have been members and used this location for at least 15 years and always had great experiences. However they have changed owners and management in the past 6 months or so and the business has gone in the toilet. A lot of the employees, both therapists and front desk employees have left. The front desk employees have no customer service skills and they apparently can't keep anyone long enough to know what services they even offer. I referred someone who was having bad neck issues and was told by someone at the front desk (who was VERY knowledgeable) about the EMT service. Told my friend about it but when she got there neither the front desk employee nor the therapist knew what she was talking about. Both were new..........ok........then train them on what services you provide!!! I've scheduled 1 hour massages only to be called later and told that was actually a 90 minute slot and was asked to use that. I told them no - an hour was all I wanted. I was allowed to do that as I was very insistent. But now if you call to schedule and there is a 90 minute slot they won't change it to just a 60 minute appointment. WHAT THE HECK??? I just spoke with someone about these issues, was told that they were under new ownership and had changes and the clients just were having a difficult time adjusting. ??????????? Let's not blame the clients!!! The new owners and management need to get it together before this location ends up closing. In the 15+ years my husband and I have gone here - not ONE TIME have I ever complained. But now that I am......it appears it it MY problem. It's like getting a massage from a person who's giving you a timeshare sales pitch, while you lie there on the table and take a call from a telemarketer. The hard-press sales pitch comes at you from all angles...the masseuse staff as well as the daffy chicks at the front desk. The chick who gave me my first massage there was trying to talk me in to a membership on the short walk between the waiting room and her massage room...before she even laid one hand on me! The second (and last) time I was there resulted in me walking out in more discomfort than when I walked in. I had a one year membership. If you didn't use your massage in one month you could apply it the next months massage for extra time. I had to do this more than once. Lets see where to begin., Every massage I received in the one year was sub par (putting it nicely) Some of them were so bad I cried. I made sure when booking to ask for people who had at least 2 years experience and still couldn't get a decent massage :( One massage girl complained she only gets paid $15.00 for each massage she gives. Considering how much I was charged I can kind of see why their Massage therapists don't really care about doing a good job. However i am a BIG tipper especially when I get something as excellent as a wonderful massage. In a full year at this place i never received one. When I would get an extended massage they would waste 1/2 an hour. Call me in 15 min late and release me 15 minutes early. So my two hour massage was only an hour and a half. Of course the massage was so bad I was grateful I guess. I spoke to the manager/owner and they profusely apologized and credited me a month. Which of course I never got. The girls at the front desk would cackle like witches about other girls or disgusting clients. It is as if they were still in high school and had no regard for their customers, peers or just about any one in general. Mean high school girls? I have no clue but boy that was ugly. This is suppose to be a luxury experience but between the tardy massage therapists, that would massage BONE instead of muscle the inattentive mean girls at the front desk, this was more stress not less. When it comes to massage envy it can be hit or miss, depending solely on the masseuse. My advice is to stick with someone you like once you find them, and be vocal! Don't be shy to speak up if the pressure is too hard or if you want more focus in a certain area. I always ask for just neck, back, and shoulders because I hunch at my desk all day and those are the most tense areas. The better you trust your massage therapist the more enjoyable the experience will be for both you and them. Now, let's talk business for a minute. When my husband and I got this membership we were living in Chicago and told that we could cancel our contract anytime. We pay $108 a month which includes 2 massages per month that roll over if you don't use them. You can also swap out a massage for a facial for an extra $10 which covers the cost of skin care products used. Gratuity is not included in the membership price. When we moved to Austin in May we went over our budget and noticed we weren't using this nearly enough to justify the $108 monthly hit. I called to cancel and was promptly told that was not an option. She said in the contract my husband signed it said clearly we would pay for a years membership so we are not eligible to cancel until this December. When I brought up that we were told different and asked to speak to a manager they told me the same thing. Not only were we lied to so they could bank on a years profit, but we have to cancel through the store we signed up with. That means even though I have multiple locations within a 10 mile radius of my house, if I don't send a certified letter of cancellation to the Chicago location then my contract will continue. I'm sorry, but this is insane. Can a computer in Austin not accomplish what one in Chicago can? I will not continue my membership. In the future when I want a massage I will splurge and go to a spa where for the price of one non member massage here, I can also get a comfy robe and champagne. That isn't to say I don't enjoy the facials or massages I've gotten here, but I don't like being told when to spend my own money. read more

My first experience with Massage Envy was amazing! I do admit that I was skeptical at first and had only planned on going once to reward myself for working overtime. I made the appointment and had an awesome, relaxing, professional massage from Brad at the Lakeline Location. He is professional yet friendly and I felt totally at ease. Brad did a great job during the consultation of understanding my expectations and collaborating with which areas to focus on and the type of pressure to use, etc. For my first time, I sprung for the $12 extra "heat therapy" and it was well worth it. My upper back muscles are super tight due to an injury and I felt totally relaxed for days after. Only downside to the heat therapy is that it is a little time consuming since they have to switch the warm towels every 10 minutes or so. If you do want it make sure you get the 90 minutes so you can feel a more complete experience. i won't get it every time, but it would be nice to include every so often. They also do aromatherapy and hot stones which I definitely am excited about trying! The front desk staff was also very friendly and Melanie (or maybe Melody?) was awesome! She explained everything with a no-pressure vibe but made sure to tell me about the membership deal to keep the monthly rate of $49. Plus, the sessions roll over if you don't use them that month. I wasn't going to get it at first and she said she would give me a day to think about it. After talking it over with husband and weighing the pros & cons I am now a proud member! I can totally justify spending $49 (plus tip) on myself every month. And I'm hoping that the long-term benefits will become more apparent as I continue to go regularly. Look, this place is like a gym. They work on a membership plan. If you're not into that, then don't go. Individual masseuses can't possibly practice this inexpensively, so if you're gonna be a tightwad, just realize that they're a membership place, just like a gym. Now that I've gotten that off my chest, here's the deal: I have a fantastic masseuse who I love, but she's at the opposite end of town from me. There's nothing relaxing about driving across town for a massage, then having to battle traffic back. I was looking for a way to get regular massages closer to home. My neck and shoulders get totally out-of-whack working at the computer, and I know I need massages to loosen me up. I bit the bullet and signed up for a 6 month membership because this location is between my office and home - very convenient. My first massage was relaxing and nice, but the masseuse admitted that she wasn't a "deep tissue" specialist, and she referred me to a couple of other masseuses. I made another appointment, and saw Tina the second time. OMG. I was two inches taller by the end of the appointment and felt a TON of relief. She was strong, used the right amount of pressure, and really worked me over. I'm happy with my membership and the service I've gotten so far. I can afford to get regular massages - and if for some bizarre reason I don't use the paid one from one month, it carries over to the next month! Amber at the front desk was great with answering all our questions, and helping us determine if a membership was right for us, or if just the occasional one-time massage was a better fit. Didn't experience any sales pitches or pressure like other reviewers had in the past (staff turnover possibly?). They are expanding into a full service spa so there is some construction going on, but it didn't interfere with the peacefulness of my appointment at all. The only thing I can say that could be viewed negatively in anyway is with the deep tissue treatment you really need to go with an hour and a half long massage. It was a great massage, and they do work on the rest of the body while the warm towels are relaxing tense muscles, but once completed I would have liked to have more massage time on that particular area to finish working out the knots. I typically get deep tissue massages, but was desperate today for some pain relief and agreed to a therapist who only does up to medium pressure. It was meant to be-- Tiffany was super kind and was spot on with my treatment. She hit all my problem areas with the perfect pressure.
