What would have been an above average massage turned into a sales pitch......during the actual massage. I get memberships buts there is a time to push that agenda and it shouldn't be during the actual massage. Instead, make us wait 20 minutes to cash out while we politely tell you we aren't going to purchase a membership before we visit one other location; yet the lady at the counter carried on about the membership anyways. I'm not kidding when I say they kept us for 20 minutes while we tried to pay. It kind of kills that awesome half-baked after a massage experience being pitched something you already politely said no to. Very disappointing- when my massage therapist was a no show, and I finally said something 8 minutes after my appointment was supposed to have started the two front office staff had no idea if he'd even arrived onsite at all that morning. How can you not know who's there and who isn't if you're checking people in for appointments?!?! Neither of the women working was rude, but rather pretty matter of fact, and there was no apology other than, "I'm sorry- I don't know where he is. He's not answering our call and text." Better customer service is, "We're sorry this happened to you. How can we make this up to you?" Instead, I canceled my membership due to the obvious lack of interest in any sort of guest recovery. The sad thing is that my logical brain recognizes that these two employees are not the entirety of the company, but strong customer service IS absolutely incumbent upon every person working there. When I started to reconsider my rash decision to cancel, and also because I really was looking forward to a stress-relieving massage today, I called the Wesley Chapel location to see if they had any openings. When I mentioned why I was calling so last minute (the therapist at the Lutz location not showing up), the woman on the phone offered me one of the most genuine-sounding apologies I've ever heard over the phone. I may reconsider canceling my membership, and I'll happily drive further if it means better customer service. Especially for a business that is offering wellness massages, how you respond to an unacceptable and unprofessional situation is vital. So very disappointing...but also a situation that could have turned out differently had the front office staff appeared to be even slightly empathetic about the inconvenience and frustration of arriving to an appointment that isn't fulfilled. read more

I initially got a gift card from my hubby for Valentine's Dad - We immediately signed up for their monthly package. (its been 2 years now!) I am so impressed with this Spa. The front staff are very good about making sure they know your face and name when you arrive. They always ask how the massage went - and really seem to care. I enjoy Ashley, Jen, and KAtrina the best. They have low turn over - its hard to find someone you really like and leave. The staff here is loyal and has been here for years. The masseuses are great but the reception staff leave much to be desired. I am a member and they told me I had extra massages paid for that I hadn't used. So I booked a couples massage. They did not let me know about a $10 "transfer fee" for using one of my prepaid massages on someone else. Then, almost two hours after leaving, they call me and tell me I only had one prepaid massage, which I know isn't true. They also told me they aren't my "home location" (I signed up at another place) so they would have to call them to figure it out. They also didn't have my billing information on file since they weren't my "home location" (which I'd never heard of before) so on the spot I had to give them my credit card information. I've always had a great experience with the massage therapists I've seen, but I was even more impressed with Tiffany, one of their receptionists, this evening after my session. It's the Sunday night after a major holiday - basically the time of year people like to be rude because they've spent too much time being miserable around their families who are probably also miserable, especially if they find purpose and fulfillment in being ugly to random people they encounter. Now, this person was upset because of a credit transfer policy , which is completely understandable, however, this person also acted like a twat waffle to Tiffany. Tiffany doesn't make the policies. It's Tiffany's job to enforce the policies, which helps her keep her job. Tiffany was WAY kinder than I would have ever been to the person challenging me on a policy that's literally in writing, as she explained this to the frustrated person, that she'll basically meet the person halfway on this policy to try to diffuse the situation. Meanwhile, I'm about to get out my card to pay for the service rendered to said twat waffle so that they'll leave, allowing Tiffany to go about her life unbothered. This person continues being unpleasant even after they what they want and proceeds to ask for Tiffany's name. I'm only assuming they'll leave an unkind review, which is fine to do about a policy, but absolutely not fine to do about someone doing their job WITH KINDNESS. Do not go here. Similar to Hand & Stone and many other "chains," the sales pitch is insufferable, the massage -- mediocre if you're lucky. My massage was without a doubt, stopped 8 minutes earlier than the 30 minutes I paid for. Look at other reviews and you'll see the same comments. They must start the clock the minute you check in with the receptionist. I can tolerate a poor massage better than I can thieves. They never apply adequate pressure, even when asking for more. These places are for absolute emergencies where you're desperate when real professionals are booked. Take the time to scope out and become loyal to the small eastern/asian practices and those in private practice. This is an expensive hassle/sales hustle. And again, they cheated me on minutes I work hard to pay for! read more

Pros: I was able to make a sameday appointment for both my sister and myself. The woman running the front desk was very welcoming and was expecting us. I had told her on the phone that I wanted a strong deep tissue massage and she hooked me up with a really fabulous young woman. It was one of the best massages I've ever had. I really liked that she asked me what I wanted. She tailored the massage to my needs (neck and shoulders) rather than going through the motions and doing my whole body. My sister and I had massages in the same room at the same time, and it was nice that we could do that. Cons (I'm extremely picky and mostly pointing this out to help Massage Envy, not to dissuade): I did not love how the receptionists are at the front desk loudly making confirmation calls while you're sitting waiting for the massage therapist. But My sister wasn't as thrilled by her massage person. There were only enough hooks for one person's stuff in our double room.Our therapists chatted amongst themselves a bit more than we would have preferred. Overall, highly recommended! I am a member, so I can get my massages at the local member price, which in Tampa is pretty low. It's a bargain for a lovely service! read more

I hate to give bad reviews, but we had a horrible experience with this Massage Envy. I booked massages for five of us two weeks in advance with the gal at the front desk. I took her name and went over all the details several times. I also wrote all the information down. It was going to be a special weekend in Florida for me and my four grown daughters. We arrived plenty on time, walked in, and were told none of us were in the system. When I said who the office staff was that booked for me she said they didn't have anyone by that name. However, later she admitted it was the receptionist that works the front desk. There were two girls at the front desk and neither were helpful. I've been going to Massage Envy for several years now on a regular basis and am very pleased. There is a wide range of excellent massage therapists, although I've committed to Spring, who is an outstanding therapist. She is very skilled, professional, and expert in her craft. She is able to accommodate any special needs or problems I have, or even find areas with problems of which I was not aware. This place is hygienic and sanitary. However, the masseurs themselves are not that great.You can listen to the front desk people chatting constantly. The massage begins a way later than your scheduled time, even if you show up 15 minutes ahead of time, and always ends 5 or more minutes before time. I have tried several masseurs in this place - more than 6+ and none of them really cured any of the pains and aches I was experiencing in my neck and shoulders. There are nearby local, non-franchise massage providers who are much better in service, courtesy, and massage quality. read more

I went yesterday to get a massage. This massage was only the second professional massage I have had in my entire life. The first being about 7 or 8 years ago. The ambiance was nice with relaxing music and aromatherapy. The facility was clean and organized. The front desk staff were professional and courteous. They had ample seating in the lobby with comfortable chairs. The massage table was heated which was a nice touch. I booked a 6pm appointment and was told to come in about 15 minutes early to fill out paper work as it was my first time at a Massage Envy. The front desk did tell me the 6pm appointment was for an hour massage only, but no one ever asked what kind of massage I wanted nor did I see anything listing the types of massage available with pricing. I think they have multiple people come in for 6pm appointments and they have the masseuses massaging all in the same hour because people began exiting at the same time as well as people entering at the same time. There was one person waiting when I arrived and four people came in after me. The masseuses came out to greet and lead everyone back to their rooms one at a time and I was the last to go back. My masseuse was very sweet and professional, but my massage was just ok compared to the first massage I received elsewhere previously. When I checked out, they said it was $50 for the introductory rate and if I did the monthly membership of $60 per month, then it includes an hour massage per month at that rate. Otherwise, non-member rates for an hour massage is $90. I would have thought about returning if the rate was $50 each time, but I will certainly not be paying $90 for a massage that is just "ok". Sorry Massage Envy, I will shop around elsewhere. read more

Had a 4 pack of massages- used different people each time- EVERY SINGLE massage was cut short by between 8 and 11 minutes. Do they not realize that there is a huge digital clock in the room staring right at you right before you put your head down in the headrest? Several of the reviews mirror my experience today. Massage Envy upped my membership fee to $50.00 per month without notifying me of the change. I saw it on my credit card. When I called to put my account on vacation I was told I could do that but would not be able to use the massages that I had already paid for but not used (5 and 1/2 hours). I have been a member since shortly after they opened this location. This is not the way to treat long term customers but I don't think they really want old customers. The women on the phone was rude, over talked me and suggested that I could cancel my membership if I desired. What kind of company suggests their customers sever relations with them. In my opinion this Massage Envy is using unethical business practices by changing the rules constantly, changing the pricing and not notifying the members. I received the cancellation request form and there are approximately 27 lines written that protect Massage Envy and negate any recourse or rights the member has. I was having an bad migraine and felt terrible. When woke up I had a sinus infection and my day was just going awful. I called a few places to try to get a massage in today because I knew indeed it badly. No one had any availability and I stumbled across massage envy on Google and thought to give them a try. Not only were they able to fit me in with the exact specific type I needed, but they also were able to fit my father in at the exact same time. Jen was understanding and nice, she asked me questions and checked up on me constantly. She even showed me some at home techniques I could use. She took her time, obviously did not rush. Carrie, I believe, was the name of the woman who did a foot massage on my father. He was very pleased and recommended I try it sometime. They also informed me about the membership program which not only is very cost-efficient, but also adheres to my busy schedule. I signed up on the spot with no hesitation. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, comfortable building and very calming environment! Would recommended! My second visit the receptionist sees me in front of her and turns to another employee waiting on their client and proceeds to explain to her how awesome some place was that she went to while I stood there waiting for 10 min as no other receptionist was available. She finally greets me and I go to my massage which was fine except I was once again shorted my 1 hour by 15 min. Not that my visit wasn't bad enough they charged my card $90 when it should have only been $30 as I paid the rest with a gift card. They stated they refunded the money but it is now day 6 since they have "refunded" the money and it has not been put back into my account and now all they can say is there is nothing they can do. read more

I have a history of headaches, and explained this to Frank. He seemed generally interested in what I was saying. He provided a firm to deep massage, as requested. He was able to relieve my headache.
