We went to Essentials for a much needed couples massage. We definitely need to make this part of our routine more. The room is nicely decorated with low lights and both massage therapists review the process and ask their client what oils they would like used and then gave us a few moments to undress and get on the beds. The couples massage is a relaxation massage so there isn't a ton of pressure if you like that but you can get that during a regular massage, this was explained before we started so everything was clear. After we were all done they review any questions we may have and ask about any other services needed. I did have questions on other options and they also gave me coupons to use for them when I want to schedule. Purchased a Groupon couples massage deal. Upon entrance the lobby "waiting" area is really nice and clean, we were greeted and handed forms. I would say filling out the papers, waiting & while you get ready for your massage all of this cuts into your massage which sucks. Massage was at 9am arrived at 8:50. Massage started around 9ish. So you don't get the full 60mins... purchased the 60min couples massage with hot stones, aromatherapy , reflexology and exfoliation. My masseuse was very sweet i forgot her name but she had really soft hands & applied the correct pressure. I didn't specify what areas i wanted more focused, but she focused more on my arms :/ which was like lol why? ... the back is the biggest area lol... anyways. My partners masseuse he stated was okay, she did apply and focus on the areas he wanted. I would say whenever i do couples massage elsewhere both of the masseuse are doing the same steps at the same time. I could tell my masseuse was doing extra stuff because my partners didn't use the hot stones yet etc. It was a decent massage i wouldn't say i felt AMAZING after especially since my back wasn't the main focus. But i would return and try it again. It wasn't the best but it wasn't HORRIBLE. And the staff were all very nice and friendly in my experience at least. Booked an hour couples massage, with hot stone, reflexology and a exfoliating scrub. Only the hot stone was done. The therapist also applied almost no pressure. We asked several times for more pressure and they told us we had to upgrade to a normal massage and not relaxation for an additional charge. So we did and they still did not put any more pressure. Late on posting my review but I finally booked my European Facial. It was amazing!! The facility is nice, clean and as I would expect. The waiting area was minus music but that was nit a spoiler for me. There was a player in the room is just was not on. But is was nicely light with comfy couches. I was super impressed with the care and attention I received from my anesthetist Deborah Cugno. She was so soft spoken, polite and so welcoming. First Impressions count so much! Deborah is truly Great! She was very attentive and thorough when explaining with detail what she was doing and what products she was using on my face. She gave me good recommendations and information for my own personal follow up. I felt relaxed and at ease. I was pretty impressed with the final result. My face, neck and shoulders felt wonderful. This is a beautiful establishment. Everyone is super friendly and that's a plus. Me and boyfriend issue is that every time we go here we get talked to death while trying enjoy a massage. We both feel like the experience is ruined and the masseuse doesn't do as well because they are talking the entire time. I know in general it's easier to write a bad review then a good review. However, I had such a great experience with Chelsea today that I had to write a positive review. As soon as I walked in there was a gentleman at the front desk that was very welcoming. Chelsea was my therapist. She was on time and was thorough with my exam sheet. She went over and beyond on working out the trouble areas I had. It was such a delight and so professional. I would highly recommend her and this facility. And a huge bonus was the price. I'm giving 4 stars because Kendall was amazing with my facial!!!! She had such a soft touch, I was really able to relax and enjoy. The massage on the other hand was not my favorite. Neither service was an hour, both were right at 45 mins so don't be fooled into thinking that what you read is what you get. The masseuse didn't seem to have very much experience maybe? She was pleasant, but She spent maybe 1 minute on each area, about 5 passes with her hand/arm over. Very jerky movements, her tummy growling and heavy breathing made for a NOT so relaxing 45 mins. I would go back and get a facial, but would request a different masseuse. I unfortunately did not get her name. The place was beautiful, clean and well kept. I wish I had been more assertive about them not giving me the full 60 mins on each service like I paid for but it seems to be a trend based on all the other reviews. read more

I purchased the groupon for a facial and massage. For the price, the service was good. For a spa attempting to get new, full paying repeat customers the service wasn't great. Pros- I was given a robe and slippers between services, the chairs were comfortable, massage was good, and the facial felt nice. Cons- front desk associate took a personal call while there were clients in the waiting room, there were no extractions during my facial, employees openly discussed not having anymore water for guests, I was not greeted by my massage therapist after my massage and I was not offered any skincare products or membership options when I went to check out. Based on other spa experiences I'd say they have some work to do with their professional etiquette. This was the first spa I've been to that they didn't offer me a membership program or try to schedule a return visit. read more

The inside is really, really nice. Modern furniture and marble floors, it's an inviting environment and it looks/smells clean. I had a facial and it was relaxing. I had a massage later in the day and that was also wonderful. I would suggest purchasing longer beds, I'm 6'0 and my feet were hitting the wall lol. I purchased a groupon from here about a month 1/2 ago and finally was able to make an appointment. With the groupon you cannot book online and they never answer the phone, so I had to go in and book my appt which was kind of inconvenient .I had a doctors appointment prior so I called to let them know I would be about 5 mins late, the girl that answered the phone whose name I believe was Sophie had no type of phone etiquette, very dull and not personable. She was just dry and said that me being late would just cut into my time which was fine because it was only 5 mins. So when I got there she gave me a no greeting and handed me some forms to fill out. Initially when I booked my appointment I requested someone with strong hands. The girl that I booked with(not Sophie) said she had someone that she thought would be perfect. Ummm yeah no it was everything but that. The guy that was providing my service was kinda awkward, almost as if I was his first client ever, didn't really know how to talk to me. So my massage was very mediocre to say the least. Very beginner, Not the quality I was expecting at all. Felt like he had a script as far as the massage because he seemed as if he was counting how many mins he spent on each part of my body and his hands were not strong at all they were actually quite feminine. There was no effort to really make me comfortable I was awake the whole time which never happens when I get a massage. He didn't even dim the damn lights. And the music sounded like it was a CD on repeat. I requested that he do a lil extra to my ankle because it gets tight from a surgery I had a couple years ago, he didn't do anything to accommodate that. My massage also came with a foot exfoliation but he didn't know how to massage it into my foot, felt like a Brillo pad. I wanted to cut my massage short because it was so bad, i only stayed because I paid for a full service. Overall I had horrible experience here and I won't be going back nor would I recommend it to anyone else. There is a lot of work that needs to be done in this location all around. I found a Groupon for this place and took a chance. I was pleasantly surprised. I did a couple's massage with hot stones and aromatherapy. The spa is very clean and peaceful. There's a relaxation room to wait in after you check-in that has infused water and relaxing music, and your masseuse retrieves you from that room. The masseuse I had, Ashanta, was very good and listened to my pressure preferences. I highly recommend him! read more

I'm not a local so maybe this review isn't a fair rating based on the other places in town. But based on my experience in various spas in and out of the country, this place is just subpar. I gave it three stars because it is clean, beautiful and the staff members are super friendly. They provide you with complimentary bottled water and overall the environment is relaxing and easy on the eyes. However, the massage was cut short even though I paid for a full hour. I purchased the package from Groupon that states: 60 minute massage, exfoliation and reflexology. All I received was a 45 minute massage and a mediocre one at that. There was no actual technique involved and hardly any pressure. Furthermore, I explained my problem areas that I would like for a them to pay a bit more attention to, but they did not. I scheduled a couples massage for me and my son. My son enjoyed the services provided by his masseuse. However, I'm giving a rating of 1 star due to the overall service that was provided.The massage though advised as a hour lasted 40mins. The masseuse I was provided was not knowledgeable of the proper way to give a massage. He focused primary on one side of my back and neck. The session was also rush. He did not massage my feet, front of my legs or use hot stones. Also during the massage he sat on the table while massaging my arms and spent extra time on my neck so he could remain seated. After the massage I noticed his right hand was not fully functional which prevented him for executing the massage properly. I asked to speak with the manager to discuss the dissatisfaction with the service. The manager was extremely defensive and unprofessional. She spoke to me in an attacking manner and stated, "I should have been satified with what I was given and I would have paid more somewhere else". My concerns were totally disregarded. The response I received from the manager was appalling and typical of discrimination. It's awful that I had to endure this type of treatment. Its worst it happened in front of my adolescent son. I will never purchase from this vendor again. read more

A few of us got Groupons and went together to this spa for an hour massage each. To begin with, they asked some really inappropriate questions on their intake form for a spa environment, things like DOB, medications you're taking, and your full medical history. However, they never asked what physical issues you were looking to address via their massages. Inappropriate and off track. They're not billing insurance and have no right to protected identity and medical information. Afterwards, we all noted to each other that the massages were way too light of a touch and achieved almost nothing. Turns out that one of my friend's massage therapist admitted that for the "Groupon massage" they aren't allowed to do anything but a super light touch and can't address any specific issue areas we might raise. Unfortunately, this spa doesn't seem to understand that if people aren't satisfied with their initial experience through the Groupon, then they won't come back. They're missing significant customer retention. Additionally, my friend's massage therapist spent the entire session complaining about her baby's daddy, yelled about him angrily, and ended up pulling aggressively on my friend's limbs as a result. Completely unprofessional. Don't spend your money on this place. read more

Honestly, if I could give zero stars I would. Picture this.... my masseuse was outside the door waiting for me! When I get closer to the door to walk into the building she asks for my name, and then follows up with "Well now I guess you will only get an 18 min massage" mind you, I was 17 mins late... which honestly is no excuse, HOWEVER you do not treat a customer like that. I talk to the girl in the front desk which was VERY rude and condescending and pretty much says it's policy, and that although I will not be getting a massage I will have to pay for it. I had a facial scheduled after my massage, but after that treatment I wanted nothing to do with staying in that place which is what i followed to tell her. She pretty much said there is nothing she can do since I was "refusing" to get the treatment. After going back and fourth and Asking to speak to a manager, which she said wasn't available. I walked out and told them to just charge my card. It was MY BIRTHDAY, and I was not going to have the disrespect and horrible attitude. Sooo 75 dollars later and no massage or facial.... here I am to tell you to NOT give these people your business they could care less about the customer. read more

Oh my. Where do I start. The woman that says she owns this facility is pshyco. She has harassed me since 1:47 this afternoon it is now almost six pm and she has not stopped. She gave me a microdermabrasion this afternoon and I was not happy with it. Not only did she not do a second pass but she applied creams to my eyelids. She didn't even cover my eyes during the actual microdermabrasion. Then she said she looked me up and saw I had a Liscense to be a esthetician. I wasn't aware that it was a crime for a non practicing esthetician to go and get a microdermabrasion from a facility that offered it. Hmm. Be ware. !!!! read more

The spa itself is very nice and well setup, my massage therapist (Angel) and my husbands massage therapist (Dianne) were kind and worked well (except for mine only used the stones once in only one place that lasted less than 5 minutes whereas my husband said he had them used multiple times). We also arranged and paid an extra $15 each to make the massage 90 minutes instead of 60, but total massage time was only 70 minutes!! We arrived at 1:55 for 2pm appt, filled out a form, taken back shortly after, and undressed by 2:10pm. The massages were finished at 3:20pm and we changed and used the restroom and went out front to pay the extra bit and to tip. By the time I left and talked to my husband, we both spoke of our unhappiness of only getting 70 minutes so I actually went back inside to address it and see if maybe the therapists didn't know we had 90 minutes. That's when the receptionist told us we showed up at 2 and left at 330 so it was 90 minutes. Like really? So I just left unsatisfied. That's not 90 minutes of massages! We would not have paid the extra $15 had I known it was only going to get us 10 more minutes! We would give them another chance just because pricing is so good, but if they jip us on time again, I wouldn't return. read more

My girlfriend had purchased a Groupon for a 60 minute couples massage. I have never had a professional massage done, but she had been to a different place previously. The lady we signed in with was very friendly and the facility was very clean and pretty. We had an appointment at 2pm and made sure we were there 15 minutes prior to fill out any paperwork. We weren't called back until 2:10 and began about 2:15. My girlfriend did not have the same experience as me during it. I had a great massage and she made sure to hit all my problem areas, but the male masseuse only used his knuckles on her back and repeatedly pressed on painful pressure points in her neck. I received the exfoliating scrub on my back, legs, and feet while she only had it on her feet. She left in more pain than she came in. We were dressed and in the relaxation room by 2:55, so we only received a 40 minute massage even though we paid for 60. She was very disappointed with her experience and we will not be returning. read more
