DO NOT!!!! Sign up for a membership with this location. The customer service here is the worst we have ever experienced. My husband and I have been trying to cancel our membership for years, but can't because we've accumulated too many credits and would not be able to use them up within the 60 days. You read that correctly, we cannot get the massages that we have already paid for. The only option is to pay to freeze the account (additional $20 per month) on top of the thousands we have already paid. If we want to gift the credits to someone else, we have to pay an additional $10 per credit, especially making it impossible to use the credits up and cancel: Management hides behind a keyboard, and will not talk to you in person nor via phone. Our experience has completely ruined Massage Envy and you better believe I have told every person I talk to regarding massages to avoid this place like the plague! If you do have a membership, Golden Valley and Plymouth locations are 10X better to their customers. Go there instead- you will not regret it. read more

Worst customer service EVER!!!! Do NOT use this service!! Aren't massages supposed to relax you, not stress you out?! On the afternoon of Wednesday 3/21, my boyfriend signed up for a 12 month contract. He was trying to get a massage the day that he signed the contact, but they were too busy to see him. He was told to book an appointment online. He went online but they did not have any appointments that worked with his schedule so he didn't get a massage. In the last month, he has not been able to schedule an appointment so he wanted to cancel his contract. He thought that he would have 30 days to try it out and cancel the contract. They never mentioned how long he had to cancel it. Today, we go to this location and asked to cancel his contract. They say that they cannot cancel it, but he could freeze it. That would just temporarily freeze payments, but he would still have to pay for 12 months of unused massages. Why would anyone want to pay for a service that doesn't work with their schedule? Why would a company want to treat their customers so poorly?! We asked for the store manager contact info (Drea Carlson) and they said that she was unavailable for the next week. Terrible cus service. I went for a facial and was told that I had a cold sore that could possibly be contagious therefore needed to reschedule. I had no problem with that until I was told that I was going to be paying a cancellation fee because I did not cancel 24 hours in advance. I asked why they would charge me a cancellation fee for some thing I did not know was a problem. When I called and talk to the manager she was cold and frankly did not care about the customer. I understand that the anesthetician loses out on this but maybe the company should think more about the customer and take care of both customer and employee in a situation as well . If I could give a less then 0 Rating I would. This is not the staff it is the management and francize policies all together. My husband has like 40 credits and I have over 20 credits as well. We have been members for several years. We have gone years with not being able to book weekend of evening appointments appointments over a month out. With COVID it even got worse. If you cancel you only have 60 days to use them LOL what a joke a person can not use that many credits in 60 days and they have no appointment they can even book for you. SO the company gets paid, they pay their management, franchise owners and staff for services they never provide and just get to keep your money. We have tired to make a effort to get these used up. My husband has started to try to go every week Last month three out of his 4 appointments were cancelled. You can only gift one credit every 6 months today I tired to gift One to my son on a 90 minute appointment I have 24 to use but they would not let me use a full 1 1/2 credit because there manager if not flexible at all. The old manager at least tried to work with use and allowed us to trasfer between each other once a month and waive the fee. I tired to talk with this manager in the past allowing us to gift these more them once every 6 month. No budge because again they want to take you month fee and get paid but who cares if you get what you pay for what a joke. We did not feel so bad about staying members with the old manager because she saw the dilemma new they had not eventy and weekend appointments and attempted to work with us the best she could. This one will not and continues to insist on the transfer fee even though they can get you in and cancel on you constantly. So now on my son visit I have to pay these people and extra 30 dollars on visit for today and then a 10 dollar transfer fee Old manager use to wave. This is 40 dollars now for a service then they have thousands of dollars of our money already for years of service they have not provided. This company and it policies just keep you stuck in a vicious cycle. This is not a customer service oriented approach. I am ready to contact the general attorney because if they cant contractually meet their end of the contract how can they hold you to yours?? How is this right that you have over 6,500 dollars in services that they have not provided to you and they make no effort to work with you at all to use them up. It all on their terms. They lock you in and even if you freeze you membership you can not use what you already paid for. If you cancel they just get to keep all the the money you have paid for service even though they can't even provide the service. DO NOT become a MEMBER it it is a lose lose situation for the customer and a win win for them. The contract for membership is a trap. So disappointed if you cancel not with in the 24 hour window you get charged but they do nothing for you when they cancel on you constantly.. I made an 11am appointment, they called to confirm I called back and confirmed it was at 11am they told me I didn't need to call back but I did because places like this NEVER get things right. I called this morning to see if they had an earlier appointment than my 11am they said no I said ok I'll see you at 11am. So arrive at 10:50 am to complete my paper work get sat in the waiting area for Bre to realize that my appointment is at 1130, the manager then comes into the waiting area, admits that I told her see you at 11am on the phone conversation but doesnt call back or correct the time with me. I wouldn't recommend this spot to anyone. Not Only do they not know how to schedule they didn't offer an alternative time. Terrible customer service. read more

Must.book.with.gregg...That's all the advice I have. I've been a massage envy member for about 5 years now, and just started to come to this location in November. I asked for a masseuse who could do deep tissue, and they paired me with Gregg. Reasons why I recommend this spot & Gregg: 1) I've found a masseuse who listens to what's causing the pain, where it's located, and then offers his recommendations. He has his own technique but adjusts on the fly if the pressure is too hard/too soft. You can tell he knows what he is doing and actually cares to ease the pain and work out the knots. 2) The staff is friendly, sends appointment reminds the day before by phone and by email, and let's you change within 24 hour notice. 3) If you are a member, you can roll over unused massages as long as you need to. I ended up not using my massages for a couple months, and then went and got a massage every week! 4) You can transfer a massage to a friend - I think only once every 6 months if it's the same person. 5) Tip your masseuse! 20-25% of the non member rate. No no no and no. I asked for deep pressure and the guy laid into my back with his elbow and full body weight like I'd challenged him to hurt me. The way I'm feeling this morning just isn't right. This is my second massage there. The first was a "deep pressure" massage at the Plymouth location from a woman who appeared to have all the professional training of a fast food employee. She was more touching me than massaging me. Neither "therapists" conducted themselves like any massage therapist I've been with anywhere before in my life. Their membership model is exactly like old school health clubs: you cannot cancel unless you move out of range of their virus like locations OR you get a doctor to say they can't touch you ever again. (Since they just destroyed your back, for which they aren't liable, according to their membership contract. Know you ride their massage tables at your own personal risk.) You have three days to cancel their deal with the devil contract, so keep that in mind if you just signed. I'll be cancelling mine today. read more

I have been a member at the Ridgedale location for over three years. There is some discussion on this review site that suggests Massage Envy is less then moral with their billing. I have never had an issue with this. In fact they were very accommodating when I requested they close my daughter's account and transfer her paid for massages to my account. This Massage Envy location has never let me down. Courteous and capable staffing welcome me to their haven of calm tranquility. Having experienced a number of their licensed, massage therapists, I have never had a bad session. Of course, I have my favorites. One in particular is exceedingly skilled and able to use his size, experience, empathy and compassion to consistently leave me feeling renewed. We've been members of Massage Envy for years, and this is clearly one of our favorite spas. Reception is very professional and service oriented. You'll seldom have a wait, and checkin/checkout is quick and efficient. The premises are inviting and relaxing. The lighting is low, but still allowing good visibility. The ambience is quiet, with soothing massage music played in the waiting and massage areas. You will check in, relax in the waiting area with complimentary water or tea, then your therapist will come greet you and escort you to your massage room. The therapist will ask your preferences, then leave you to disrobe to your comfort level. There is a click on the wall with large numbers, and I've never received a massage shorter than I've paid for. This spa is one of those that has a couples room, which is great for those wishing a shared experience for their massage. (Nice for couples, mother/daughter, etc.) Everything is always very clean and well maintained. It can sometimes be a challenge to book your preferred therapist on short notice, but that's to be expected to a certain extent. With some planning you can generally arrange appointments with your preferred massage therapist. Some rooms have sinks and one suggested improvement would be to provide some way in each room to allow guest to wash off massage lotion before dressing. read more

They have screwed up my billing countless times. They convinced me to sign up for an "every other month" membership and then about a year into it I was suddenly being charged every month. I had more massages than I knew what to do with so I froze my account to use some up (since they said that kind of membership was impossible). I originally set up a couples massage for my husband and I. On the day of the appointment, I got a call as we were pulling in the parking lot, saying my therapist was running late. We decided to have my husband start his massage and I would join as soon as my therapist arrived. My therapist NEVER showed up. They said they would give me a free massage at my next appointment to make up for it. When it was time for my next appointment, I received a call about an hour beforehand saying my therapist (different from the first one) was out ill that day. They offered me a facial instead. I have been a member of massage envy for several years and really like the Ridgedale location the best.The spa has a friendly environment, it's very affordable, conveniently located and my therapist, Greg, is fantastic and has a lot of experience and truly enjoys his profession. I' had to try out a lot of therapists to find the right fit so don't give up. You may need to try a variety before you find a match. Just tell the front desk staff what you're looking for and they will recommend therapists to suit your needs. Massage Envy is a rip-off. I have 5 paid for massages that I cannot use before October or I will lose them. They bill you monthly regardless of whether or not you use the service. I am not able to use the sessions I paid for as give-aways to family members. They do not let you cancel your contract even under uncontrollable circumstances. The hours do not match my schedule. I must come in evenings or weekends - there are no early morning times. Do not get trapped into a membership if you want massages or facials - just pay as you go somewhere else. You get "enticed" into purchasing expensive products - when all is said and done with tip and products, you could have had a full day at a real spa. read more

After using it for a few months, determined that the service was not the quality advertised and not meeting my needs. Provided written cancellation and immediately received multiple phone calls information me that I had to call then and 'discuss the situation' before they would 'approve the cancellation.' Called back to discuss with the manager and was told they would send me to collections if I did not pay for 12 months - never asked why I was cancelling or in what ways the business was not meeting my needs (never even asked if the service WAS meeting my needs). The last two times (on weekends) I have been in the customer service at the front has sucked! Maybe it is because the "regular" lady I have encountered has not been there. YUK! I do not know her name since none of them wear name tags, but she was tall, long brown hair, and glasses. I hope I see her next time, otherwise they are in a world of hurt. Had a horrible experience at this location. I was given a gift card to treat myself and so by the time i decided to do so i scheduled an appointment only to get a call shortly before the time of the appointment letting me know that my schedule masseuse was not going to be in afterall and that they had to reschedule me no big deal mistakes happen right? Well once i had rescheduled for a few days later i receive another call letting me know that they had to move my appointment AGAIN because someone had messed up the scheduling. Okay now im a little upset so the following day i arrive at the store and am now also informed instead of the hour and half that i had scheduled i was only able to get about 30 minutes. At this point i am furious but decide to go through with it hoping for the massage itself to improve my experience. I was wrong the masseuse would not listen to any directions given or any mention of problem areas and instead tended to areas which he found to be in need of more attention that being my lower back but closer to my butt area. This was the absolute worst experience i have ever had at an establishment like this. To add insult to injury after informing the receptionist that i was not satisfied at all with my experience the only thing she had to offer not words of condolences but a SALES PITCH that i should buy the monthly membership and come back again if i was so dissatisfied. I was completely blown away with their complete and utter lack of customer service that i contacted their corporate headquarters only to have the manager of the store email me informing me that i needed to come back for another visit which i would have to pay out of pocket for to ensure that i had a better experience and absolutely nothing was done to compensate me for any of the inconveniences that i experienced or the lack of customer service for which i received. read more
