Booked a 90 minute massage after having 5 others at this location. The masseuse fell asleep while massaging me and didn't spend more than 2 minutes at a time actually providing a massage. More time was spent walking around the room or arranging the blankets than actually massaging. I've had good massages here before but won't renew or return. I would hope for consistent service, given I committed to this location, but have found it to be hit or miss at best. read more

I've been looking for a massage therapist ever since the therapist who I used at the Urban Muse moved to florida. I called this morning and they were able to fit me in for a last minute 90 minute massage with Stefan. And let me tell you. I came in with back pain but he knew exactly where to work. He truly is a master at his craft. I felt so relaxed and usually am not able to relax much during a massage but I was in another zen state! He kept checking in on the pressure and really worked on my trigger points. I ended up buying the 12 month membership for $85/month! As an upcoming nursing student this was so affordable and will be amazing throughout the year. I 100% recommend to book a massage with Stefan if you like deeper work. I already have my next massage scheduled with him and am happy to be back on my self care regimen! I go weekly to see Stefan and the amount of relief he has given me is huge. I received a gift card for massage envy for Christmas and was able to book my appointment online with Blaire who's amazing at firm pressure massages! I enjoyed my massage so much that I even considered becoming a member to gift myself some monthly TLC. However I was charged the full price of $125 when in reality if you've never been to massage envy the intro price is $75!!! I only found this out when I went to purchase a gift card at another massage envy in Edgewater who's customer service was 10x better than the Morris Plains location. Now knowing this I asked for a refund of $50. And the manager Jaine was against it since according to her, I knew the price when booking online. When given a pamphlet the prices are clearly stated for each service whether someone is a member, non member and first timer. Jaine wanted to give me credit of $50 after continuing to decline a refund of $50. Overall, who wants to go to a place where they take advantage of their customers and don't go by their advertising and marketing. The customer service is awful in Morris Plains is awful! Jaine only gave me the refund after I continue to state facts. She charged the card on file without letting me know she was going to charge me since I wanted to be refunded on another card. When buying the gift card for me, my boyfriend also received terrible customer service! He waited for a while before being attended to and they stated they only have gift cards of $100, $200 or $300. We have accumulated 5 unused sessions during the Covid pandemic and have been harrassed by phone and threatened with losing the sessions we've paid for because we are no longer paying each month. We do not feel comfortable coming to the salon now, and do not want to accumulate more unused sessions. The behavior of this location is unacceptable. I've been a massage envy member for nearly two years in a location in New Hampshire and was worried about moving out of state to a new ME location. I thought it would take awhile to find the perfect therapist for me again... but I am SO happy to have met Annabella on my first visit! She was so personable and really listened to my needs. Avoid this location. I have been to a few different locations and usually have a great experience. This one was not as clean and didn't have as many extras like tea or robes (at least I wasn't offered one). The actual technician was great (Marlene). I was also not happy with my service which I thought I was paying $220 for a facial but it was actually just a 30 min microdermabrasion treatment despite being advertised in the section for "facials" which led me to believe I was getting a full facial. I have been going back and forth with this location for over a month now about trying to cancel my membership. Given the current state of things, I no longer feel comfortable engaging in a service such as this that would put myself unnecessarily at risk. I find it appalling that after a global pandemic, the management/ownership are not being understanding nor flexible with terms that were agreed upon in a pre-COVID reality. Overwhelmingly, recommendations are to continue to maintain social distancing. There is no way to receive a massage while doing so. I received a gift card in February for $125.00 which was purchased at the Florham Park facility. When I went to pay the card would not work. They said it was never activated when purchased. I was able to show proof of purchase and confirmed all the information with the person who gave me the gift certificate. She even confirmed she purchased it directly from the manager of the Florham Park location. Now they tell me it is my problem to get corrected. AGAIN even after I provided proof of payment. I am not feeling well, so I called to cancel my appt. today at ME on 1711 State Route 10 East Morris Plains, NJ 07950. Since it was same day, I was told I would be charged 50%. Even though I wasn't feeling good, I was expected to come to avoid the charge. I complained and was told "that's the cancellation policy". POOR Customer Service. Amani, who I was told is level above the manager, got on the phone and I gave her the same information. She asked if I had proof that I was sick. This made me very upset, which showed in the volume of my voice. Amani started to argue with me and yelling back. I told her I will come for the appointment, but tell the massage therapist that I do not feel well. Amani - POOR Customer Service. As a person in a management role, leadership by example is a good quality to have, which you lack. Amani does not care about the safety of the employee. She also lacks empathy, professionalism, customer service and management skills. Amani has cost Massage Envy and the massage therapist future revenue. This is one of the better locations. All staff is friendly. My husband and I both enjoy massages here, we don't know how we would go through life without massages. Going to this place off and on for five years; trying to give them a chance when something bad happens that it was just a one off. After today I will never go back and I will encourage others not to go. My first couple of time going was great they gave me a card that they stamped for each visit and after 10 visits you get a free one. I had 7 punches and went over winter with some friends-I brought 4 other ladies for the first time to learn that the program had ended but they were doing something new. I got no credit for my 7 previous visits and I have learned. The new program is them signing you into a log that does not support repeat business; they could never find my previous visits in their paper notebook system. But today was the Worst!! I took a friend that needed a pick me up. We paid for 2 one hour foot messages but got 2 45 minute with at least a 5 minute break message. And then learned prices went up and a surcharge is now being added to credit cards. Ok. Business are trying to come back everything is going up. But the man that was my massage person demand more money than I was willing to give him. He actually tried to take cash out of my hand and I had to refuse. This was such a disgrace-I am still in shock. I was raised to think a tip was based on performance. I was not happy with my service-I asked twice for stronger-deeper pressure and it was only 40 minutes. I gave him 5 dollars and he wanted ten for a 40 dollar service. I don't know if it was because my massage therapist was male or if he was just not experienced, but nothing about my massage was relaxing. In fact, I was so tempted to leave in the middle of it! I too had a stressful day and was looking forward to a massage. The very nice lady who scheduled my appt offered to upgrade me from the $39 intro to an hour and a half masasge for $57. I couldn't wait! I am a former massage therapist and have had hundreds of massages. The guy that worked on me was one of the most clueless therapists I've ever had touch me -- even student sessions I've had were much, much better that this. This guy had about 3 strokes, that he pitifully repeated over and over (and not well). After an hour and a half, he neglected to touch the fronts of my legs, my abs (which I specifically requested), never worked on my hips, which I requested due to sciatica pain... one of the worst massage experiences I've ever had. He spent an awful lot of time walking around re-arranging the draping. On the other hand... the manager was exceptionally nice and was distressed that I had such a bad experience. I paid for the session, but she comped me for another. She said she is going to put me with a more experienced therapist. I almost don't want to give her name out in case she gets too busy for my treatments, but as I don't want anyone else to have a bad experience I will.... Ask for Margarita. She's lovely, experienced and dedicated to her job - and it all shows in her touch. She listens to her clients and gives just the right amount of pressure. I can't speak for the others but my first two therapists were - compared to Margarita - inexperienced and pretty useless. I have been going to this location for over a year and love it. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful so much so that other businesses could take a lesson from them. The place is incredibly clean and quiet. I have gone to a number of different masseuses and for the most part they have all been really good. If you speak up and let them know what you want (more pressure less pressure) they really do listen. I only had one not great experience (which I think was as much a misscommunication about what I wanted as anything), they immediately tried to make it right. The staff really does know pretty well what the strengths are of the masseuses so if you just tell them what you are looking for when you call, they really do a great job in matching you to the right person. This was my second time at Massage Envy and it will probably be my last. The first time I went my massage was really good. This time it was horrible! My therapist kept talking throughout the massage which was so disturbing being that I came there to relax. He was grunting and talking to himself throughout as well which made me uncomfortable. He told me three times how much time he had left as if to remind me that he was in a hurry because he had another appointment after me which actually stressed me out and made it harder to relax. And his technique was as if he literally had one month of massage training. Very disappointed and so NOT worth the $$. Has anyone found that this place is a scam? I tried cancelling my account back in June because I moved. The first time I called, the receptionist told me nothing could be done unless I came in to sign paperwork. When I tried to explain that I moved, she basically just told me sorry and hung up. Second phone call - the receptionist said if I emailed my information and new address to their email, they would send the proper paperwork for cancellation. I tried emailing three times, no response and called back again asking for a manager. Of course, the response was no manager was available and to call back Tuesday. So, I called back Tuesday and the manager was "unavailable." At this point I was extremely frustrated because my credit card had been charged when I had been trying for for weeks to cancel my membership. The woman on the phone took down my new address and said that their "records" did not indicate that I had previously tried to cancel my membership. She told me the charges would stop, but I still had to pay for the previous payment. It is now September and I just received another charge when the woman over the phone assured me I would not be charged again! Do not go here! The customer service is terrible and I've heard of other scams where they say you have a $50 gift card and then magically there's only $10 on the card. This place is HORRIBLE and the massage wasn't even that great in the first place. These people do not know what they are doing. read more

Giving two stars bc there are few good therapists (the Russian lady is great but can't remember her name bc its been a while since i gave up on ME). My experience started with the intro package that was avg. Avg. because the service desk was rude at times when cancelling appts and or late. I come all the way in from Fort Lee to come home and Rt 80 has issues. I was using them three times a week when i was injured so being late a few times should be expected. They have there therapists going back to back all day long so you will get a bad message. I get this and Im not that picky. The big issues is they took two paid appts from me bc I rescheduled twice the day off the appt bc of work issues and daycare. I spoke with mgr and she had little too say but too bad. After speaking with two mgrs twice after I figured out i was short two appts (yes they did it with not letter), i was pissed. If this girl was running my business I would be looking for new work. Needless to say I go to Elements now on 10. Much better experience from many aspects. The customer service is better the massage are better and mgt is 100 times better. Use them ...... read more
