I've been going to the North Towne location for over 7 yrs and the reason is Kalina--the massage therapist I discovered there who is literally a 'knot terminator'. At 70, I'm still working, and the long hours spent in front of a monitor bullying my mouse around translates unfortunately into body abuse which yields a lot of knots--and Kalina terminates them all. Had been seeing massage therapists for over 24 yrs before discovering Kalina, and she knew several very effective techniques, especially for knots, that the other therapists did not know (or at least did not use on me). My latest session was a 2 hr session that was simply totally awesome. I can only give the highest recommendation for Kalina at Massage Envy North Towne--and BTW, the front desk staff are awesome too!! read more

I joined the membership with autopay monthly. I noticed therapists came and went often, therapists were mechanical, apathetic, I realized they do not get adequate wage, management is horrible with employees...when I asked to cancel my membership, I was told I'd need to pay for 2 treatments, (without receiving them) and the manager came out of her office screaming at me- you should read the fine print, we don't need people like you, I said this is this the way you treat your customers. She said yes when they act like you and dispute our rules I looked at the receptionist and said you should go get another job because this is how she'll treat you too. It wasn't pretty. I do not recommend this facility as they do not treat their employees well therefore they come and go or their apathetic and robotic. read more

Absolutely garbage customer service. My first time going in to this location the receptionist felt perfectly fine going over my medical history out loud in the waiting room where everyone could hear. They clearly don't care about HIPPA or PII. I've tried rescheduling 2 times with this location and both times they called me to cancel. Clearly they don't want business. read more

Don't waste your money on a membership here. The base price sounds attractive, but EVERYTHING is an add on/upsell and it adds up quickly. If you want anything more than a "light" massage scheduling is almost impossible, and even if you do get an appt. their definition of 'firm' to 'deep' is pathetic, and the therapists range from mildly inept to outright bizarre. I asked the last one to focus on my upper back and shoulders, and instead she spent more than half the on anything but that, kept grabbing my limbs and my head and shaking them, asked if I wanted her to massage my scalp AFTER she had pushed her oil covered fingers into my hair, and then decided she could best loosen my neck and upper back if I laid down facing UP and with her trying to stuff her hands underneath me. The whole thing felt like I was being punked, and then of course I was charged extra for the 'deep' massage service and informed that their standard tip is 25%. Do not do business with this company. I made the huge mistake of signing up for their monthly service. When I cancelled it initially On the 16th of September, yet for some reason it didn't get posted to my account until November 4th of 2021 they continued to bill me for November December and January. The locations Manager even confirmed receipt of me dropping off required documents to cancel my service on the 4th of November 2021. Even though it should have been September 16th 2021z This manager then had the nerve to tell me it was my fault that they continued billing me for three months after I cancelled, as they called me every month to tell me I had services which they did not do. They did finally call me in February to let me know I haven't been in in three months and I had these services available to me. When I told them I had cancelled all of a sudden they couldn't do anything and a manager would call me back the next day. About three weeks later the manager finally called me back acted like she was doing me a favor by refunding 2 of the 3 months I was billed after cancelling. Then she went on to argue with me how I cancelled on the 4th of November but came back on the 11th of November for another service. This was because The last two services I had scheduled they cancelled on me hours before my massage, with no credit applied to my account and having to wait another month before they had any openings, this leaving me with a credit on my account for two services. Now if I would have called and cancelled the same day I would have been charged for that massage, yet they don't do anything if they cancel. Then she went on stating that the cancellation had to be a minimum of 10 days before billing date in order to not be billed. According to the managers own words I cancelled on the 4th of November, but let's say for arguments sake I didn't cancel until my appointment on the 11th. My billing date is the 27th 27-11 is 16. 16 is greater than 10 therefore it was cancelled in more than enough time. Not counting the December and January charge which is also way more than 10 days after cancelling. After being extremely rude and argumentative about her company illegally charging my account she states well you have 30 days to use your remaining three services or you lose them and it will be at the full price rate not the member rate since you cancelled. This was on the 14th of February. The soonest they have any available 90 minute messages with a therapist that does deep tissue is the 29th of March or 43 days after she is forcing me to use the $240 massage envy already took from me within 30 days. 43 days is after 30 days therefore even if I tried to use what I paid for massage envy would have already wiped my account balance to zero. There are more reputable companies out there that won't take your money and not provide any type of service in return, or that won't keep billing you after you cancelled and also tell you it's your fault their company kept billing you after that canc Update 2-24-22 The general manager got involved and finally refunded the last charge of after cancelling. Today I also scheduled a 90 minute massage with a 10 minute add on for rapid tension relief, which they charge 10.48 for. So should have been a total of 100 minutes. I was called back at 2:00 at 3:30 I was pulling into my driveway at my house which is about 2 miles away. This also included the time it took for me to get redressed check out with the front desk and walk out to my car. How can they charge for 100 minute service that only took 90 minutes for them to call me back ask what brought me in, wait for me to get undressed to come back in and start the massage, finish the massage, have me get redressed, walk out to the front check out and pay, write out an tip envelope, walk out to my car and pull into my driveway. read more

Prices went up, you can never get an appointment, you get last minute notice if THEY need to reschedule (but then it's impossible to reschedule for one or two months). If you cancel you get 60 days to use remaining services, but oh yeah, you can never get in to use your remaining services, so it's best just to cut your losses and be done. Nice facilities, friendly and helpful customer service and very good massage therapists. I also love that they have heated massage tables, as I tend to run cold. My only complaint is that they do not recycle, and they must throw away over 100 single use plastic cups a day, given the number of facilities in Albuquerque alone. I would like to see them be more environmentally conscious, as a national franchise. Other than that, I've been very happy with my annual membership and will most likely renew it (And bring my own water bottle, so I don't contribute to the unnecessary plastic waste). read more

She tried to cancel her "membership" several times and was assured it had been taken care of. As soon as she tried to cancel, after a year, the employees were rude and mean to her. This really breaks my heart because she's the coolest lady ever. Buyer beware and double check your credit card statement. They even try to add on extra $10 misc fee and added $15 more to her monthly fee. Awful customer service. And, watch out for their "bait and switch" coupons. The coupon offered a bottle of free "rejuvenating serum" with the purchase of a chemical peel which costs 2 credits, or $140 dollars. When I booked the chemical peel, I confirmed these details on the phone. I went to the appointment and the aesthetician seemed nice. She told me that she was going to do a pumpkin face mask and I asked if that cost extra. She said no because it was part of the special. Then she up-sold me $15 to do my neck as well as face for the treatment, and I agreed to that extra $15. When I went to check out, the aesthetician got me the free bottle of serum (per the coupon) and we said goodbye. Then the check out girl said that I owed another $20 to get the bottle of serum. I said that the serum was part of the couple special (mailed out by Massage Envy corporate). Then she insisted that I pay $20 for the pumpkin mask or I would not get the bottle of serum. I asked to speak to the manager who was supposedly not there. I sent the manager Jenine an email with the coupon and explained the whole situation. She said that the aesthetician said she told me the pumpkin mask was $20 - which she did not - and that I had a choice of paying the $20 to get the serum (which was supposed to be free with my treatment and had nothing to do with the pumpkin mask) or she refused to give me the serum. She also tried to lie and say they were out of stock when I had just seen the bottle the day before. SUPER SHADY! Jenine is snotty and clearly is not qualified to be a manager as this studio is poorly run. Nobody seems to know what is going on - and they flat out lie and don't honor their own specials! And, to be honest, in 9 months of being a member I only had one good massage here. Avoid this place. Definitely do not spend your money there to be treated poorly. As I look through former reviews of this place, it seems that over and over people are treated badly - and specifically complain about Jenine. She should be fired. read more

I had a good experience at this location. The massage therapist, Shay, was fantastic. Very personable and welcoming. She did a great job working out the knots in my neck and shoulders; gentle but firm. The only reason I gave this place a 4 was a dropped a star for customer service. The woman behind the counter who assisted me was wonderful. However, there were two other women at the counter who were talking about a client that had been in. They were whispering and trying to be quiet but I heard enough to be uncomfortable before my appointment. I am thankful that Shay was so wonderful or it would have been a poor experience. read more

Buyer Beware! Sunshine and roses until you want to change your relationship with the company. I moved to northern California about two and a half years ago. I called in mid October to cancel my membership because I'm not in Albuquerque anymore and rarely use the facilities in NoCal. Hallie, the woman who initially "helped" me said that she could have me make one more payment in November and then have 3 months to use the remaining 9 treatments that I had left. She told me that she would call me back to explain the process, but never did. The first call I made was 10/15/15. I called back 10/29/15 and Hallie was not available and I was told that she would call be back the next day. Hallie did not call. Through the next month, I tried to contact others and other facilities but was told that I had to go through the North Towne site. I finally contacted Hallie today (12/10/15), paid one last payment and cancelled my membership. It seems that my 10.5 sessions that I'm due will never be used but at least I'm done giving my money to an organization that has no regard for customer relationships. My wife and I went here today. It was my first visit to Massage Envy. Knowledgeable, friendly receptionist. My therapist was Marge (hopefully I spelled her name right). I told her a lot of my knots were in my upper back so of course I labeled my back as the biggest problem area. Not true. According to Marge, my biggest problem was my IT band and quads. She was very correct. I had Achilles surgery and my left leg is trying to compensate for the weakened right leg. So this causes my misaligned hips to pull my upper body forward. Usually when a body part hurts its because of another body part that is the issue. I'm an athletic build so I need strong hands to work out the knots. Marge applied the perfect amount of pressure consistently through the entire session. After the hour was up we signed up for a whole year! I'm definitely using Marge again. Overall: This location on Wyoming is GREAT! Price was very fair, especially if you sign up for a whole year. Sign-up fee was waived. They give Military and state employee discounts as well. If you do sign up as a member you can go to any Massage envy in the country. Rates might vary state to state, so you might have to pay a difference if any. Thanks Massage Envy! read more

I am torn as to the review rating. The massage therapist that I have tried have been good to fantastic. I wish I could remember the last therapist name, he is killer me in a good way. I gave the low rating because of how the business is handled. I have a membership. The message I got was last month they did not apply the monthly massage that I get. I realize the subscription pays for 60 minutes and I received a 90 minute massage but I was charged for the whole 90 minutes. When I checked out I was asked if the amount was okay and I thought the amount seemed high, but agreed as I was in a massage stupor. Called and talked to a manager and she stated that I should have said something at check out meaning to apply my monthly subscription amount. I informed her that the amount had been applied automatically in the past. She stated that is not how it works. Then why am I paying for the membership? I also stated my husband and a mother friend get 90 minute massages and have never had to pay the whole amount only the difference in cost. She repeated herself. My husband called a couple of days later and tried to see if we could get credit towards that massage and was told that I should have said something then. In the same conversation that the monthly membership should have been applied. We both had such circular and frustrating conversations that I tried to cancel my membership but because it I have only had it for 5 of the 12 months that I was out of luck. My warning is to be very clear during the check out process and ask for receipts and ask for itemization. I will not continue the membership past the contract time. I had such a great experience here! My cute lil' Gramma gifted me a massage here, and recommended her girl ASHA. She knew exactly what to do for chronic neck and shoulder pain - which I'm pretty sure 89% of overworked Americans suffer from. The price is totally right - but I feel like the actual massage therapist gets pain way less then they are worth so be a generous tipper people. They work so hard, and give so much. I received a gift certificate from the hubby for my bday and did a little bit of research on the various branch locations. Interestingly, this is the only location that seemed to have consistently good reviews. It also had consistent booking a week out. It was definitely worth delaying the visit briefly I think. My experience was without disappointment. Karen gave me an hour-long massage that was nothing short of sublime. We chatted a bit more than would have been ideal, but admittedly it was probably my fault... I was too delighted by the treatment to not be an enthusiastic conversationalist. She was very attentive and very good at chasing the knots in my shoulders around. Her pressure was perfect, though she was more than willing to make any adjustments requested. She gave me a full hour of massage too, even though a traffic jam had me a bit late for the appointment. Cheri gave me a facial that was also a real delight. She was very informative and gave me a lot of background on current research and treatments. I learned many tips about caring for my particular skin. Again, quite a bit of chatting by yours truly, but when I shut my yap, her facial massage felt intuitive and meditative. The front desk staff were also perfectly considerate and professional. The only reason I give 4 rather than 5 stars is that I think their regular prices are pretty extravagant at $95/hour, considering the corporate nature of the chain. But my entry rate of $55 was the perfect sweet spot. They have a monthly plan that gives pretty good rates, but based on other reviewers' experiences I quickly sidestepped that offer at pay-out. Though I rarely treat myself to such luxuries and therefore don't have a lot to compare Massage Envy against, the place was clean and inviting, and I definitely would recommend Karen and Cheri to a friend. read more

I called a couple of weeks ago to make an appointment at North Towne (Albuquerque) for myself and my daughter (15 and a member) for March 4. I made it clear she was a minor. We got to our appointment early, filled out the minor paperwork, and waited. Five minutes AFTER our appointment should have started, the receptionist said that the massage therapist was not certified to do a minor. I personally believe there was no massage therapist present. I called Haili, the local manager, on Saturday, March 5. She assured me she would find out what happened and call me back no later than Sunday. I finally called this afternoon and found out Haili is off today. I promise I will not rest until I get an answer on this - if I have to keep going up the chain, I will. I find Haili lacking in her management skills - if she knew she would be out Sunday, then don't make false promises. This Massage Envy needs better management attention. This is truly the worst Massage Envy I have encountered. read more

While in Ontario CA , I took advantage of my mother's-in-law membership for a massage. It was fantastic! So , I went and sign up for one here. After a deep tissue massage with Theresa, I'm not disappointed. The staff was very friendly, and courteous. Love that if you don't use the monthly massage, it " rolls over" to the next month. Due to several surgeries I have been getting massages for a long time in different places . The cost of the membership is the same or less than a service at other places, I have paid $50-75 for one hour, is a nice environment, and the therapist will get to know you and your needs. Side note: I have noticed those people that always complain about others being "rude" , very often, are the ones who treat others with disrespect. read more

This place is just down right ridiculous. I made an appointment only for them to harass me to put a card on file after I had scheduled a week prior to the harassment. Then it gets worse as they tell me my credits are expired and that they expired a month ago and no one told me that when booking since they are booked months out. How is it my fault that I can't get in before they expire? Now they are bringing me in at a non member rate for $120?!?!! I haven't been there over a year and they have the audacity to try and charge me more. Then as I ask why? The girl at the front desk comes up with some bullshit policy that is suppose to go into effect conveniently tomorrow (10/27/2022). This place pretends to be all about wellness but they just add more stress! Definitely would not recommend massage envy especially this location to ANYONE! Talk about a money hungry corporation that's just there to get every dollar out of you. Such a disgrace of a place that tries to preach relaxation but do nothing but stress out customers. Recently I was contacted by , I'm assuming ,a customer service rep asking for my info to discuss any " misunderstanding " - I've been through this go round with Massage Envy at least four times (phone , web, manager , owner ) so Am I incredibly amazed that that I was never contacted after I sent her my information :NO , it's all for show ( maybe she was put on holdToo??? Maybe they're all tenseIn the neck and shoulder area for dealing with many of the same complaints about being ripped of?) BOTTOM LINE : THEY ARE NOT GIVING ME MY MONEY BACK so please save yours , there are many other massage clinics in the Abq area with better prices, and a strong track record of actual customer service. Trust me this was the most stressful gift I ever attempted to give my family . P.s. The skincare line they use ,Murad, uses. Hydroqinone , it's lightens spots ...but it's also a known carcinogen ,high levels are banned in Europe. read more

Poor customer service. Service was great until I decided to cancel my membership. I cancelled in November but they charged my credit card for December. I called several times to get it fixed. The front desk kept saying they would talk to the manager when they can because she is stationed in El Paso. Then they charged me for January. Unbelievable. I had to keep calling to try to get my refund. Mid-January I saw a credit placed back on my credit card....for the incorrect amount. The front desk said they would let the manager know and have her call me back after her meeting (never received a call). I also wanted to remove my credit card on file, but they said they had to get approval from the manager about that too. Still haven't heard back. I do not understand how this business can function. Maybe this review will get the "manager's" attention, although it doesn't seem like it worked for previous yelpers with the same issue. Had a massage here today. Staff was chattering loudly in immediate next room and laughing. Could not relax. Therapist took no action. Asked for no scalp treatment but was given anyway. Session started 10 minutes late and ended 10 min early. First timers are 50 bucks but if you've been there, price inflates. This establishment is a joke. I left with no relief. I could have felt exactly the same staying at home. Horrible performance. Horrible staff. One star is extremely gratuitous. Buyer beware! Buyer beware!!!!!!!!!! Will never return. This review is for Blair, who is a total master when it comes to massage. What sets him apart is that he not only knows traditional massages technique, but has also been trained in medical massage. If you are an athlete, or if you are doing some sort of muscular rehab, then this is the guy to see. I have a lot of posterior chain stress, and he was the first masseuse I've ever been to that addressed it from the anterior (front) of the body, rather than the back. Again, the guy knows his anatomy, and he has some tricks to open up whatever's tight. Highly recommended. read more

I have had a few massages in my life, maybe around 4, but yesterday I started my massage journey with Carrie and she did an amazing job. I have been pregnant for about 2 and a half months and so I was very nervous about having a prenatal massage. I was worried that the pressure wouldn't be deep enough to extract the miserable pain I was in (I'm a full time cosmetologist, so my body is a mess) but gentle enough to be safe for the baby! I can honestly I received the best of both worlds; she worked my upper back very well while being gentle on my feet. I have studied reflexology and certain pressure points can be hazardous to your unborn child, so she was certainly knowledgeable in her field and took caution! I am reviewing the massage that I received today from Jill at the North Town location. The company policies at Massage Envy are less than honorable but I am not reviewing that right now. Jill was very attentive and professional. She listened carefully to my specific needs and provided a relaxing full body massage with no pain! In the past I have had to coach therapists at Massage Envy to lay off the pressure points and ease off bony prominences. With Jill, I was able to just enjoy the session and focus on my breathing and relaxation. It was a nice break from the norm. After a long drive while on vacation, I took a chance and set up a massage with Laetitia. Mind you, I've got all kinds of neck and back issues that have dogged me for years. I do get regular chiropractic treatment and massage; I've been around the block a time or two. Laetitia blew me away. She's been trained extensively in physiology and anatomy, and she was able to apply the knowledge about how the muscle tissues grow and connect. I had the best massage I've ever had in all of my days! I can't recommend Laetitia enough. I went back the very next day before I had to leave Albuquerque to get another massage. Elizabeth gave me the best massage I've had in ages. Do yourself a favor and book a 90 minute with her. She's extremely attentive to your particular needs. I have areas that require a light touch, and others needing a strong hand and she delivered both spot on. Also, due to lymphodema in one hand due to removal of lymph nodes under one arm she already knew a light upward stroke of that arm is what was required. Also, me being a breast cancer survivor she took care to use extra towels as bolsters to protect my recovering breasts. She knew all this because her own mother went through the exact same thing. To some it up, she went way beyond the call of duty. She's passionate about her profession, and her compassion for her clients is off the charts! read more
