The service is ok. I wound up dropping my membership bc of my schedule. But the process of exiting your membership is difficult and requires you to fill it out in person. Fine....then you fill it out and they decide how to exit your membership. You can transfer your remaining credits to another member, which is great until you actually try to. When you try to transfer it you have to pay for each transfer. I had so many they were going to figure out what to charge me to transfer it. They never called me back. They just suck at customer service, keep your money and spend it somewhere else. In this day and age of trying to make things easy they really suck at it. read more

Decent massages but after first 2 sessions and signing up for membership, availability evaporated. However, when trying (for the last 4 months!) to cancel membership , being told repeatedly it was taken care of, charges continue. On hold right now, again waiting for manager. Go elsewhere where customer service is important Ok- next day- manager calls. States they have "no record" of us being charged. We send her screenshot of Amex bill. She tells us to take it up with American Express. Charges removed and Amex rep said this has been a "chronic problem" with these franchises. read more

I had an okay service from the therapists but once I decided that I wanted to cancel my membership the customer service has been extremely poor. I reached out to the manager multiple times who said they would help me cancel my membership, however, after multiple conversations with the manager my credit card was still getting charged. This has been an extremely undesirable process and I would HIGHLY not recommend signing up for membership at this location due to the poor customer service. read more

I rarely write negative reviews, but after the attitude of an assistant manager, I feel compelled to share our experience. Went in with a friend (with a membership and just moved to the area) who had credits to schedule a facial (me) and massage (friend). We scheduled for 2 days later. Was not told there was a fee to transfer credits until we arrived for the appointments. When we were told by ''the manager" who was at the front desk at the time, we explained that the transfer fee had never been assessed before and we didn't know about it. The manager was quite abrupt and assured us that it was impossible to share credits on a membership without a fee and asked if I wanted to cancel my appointment. Since we knew we would lose the credit if I cancelled within 24 hours, I realized I didn't have a choice. At that point my aesthetician was waiting, and the manager told me to go in. Update: The manager of the location contacted me. She was very sorry to hear of my experience and appreciative of my comments and as a result, the location will be implementing a new customer service training component. Additionally, they have discussed the situation with the woman who treated us so inappropriately. read more

I mean, yes, it is a luxury to be able to pay someone to work out the knots I've developed whilst hunched over my computer learning this med school nonsense; however, I didn't find ME to be particularly worthy of the "treat yo self" Yelp list into which I will inevitably place it. As others have mentioned, it's quite corporate - check in is quick, though the waiting room gets more boisterous than a real spa would given that there are 12ish treatment rooms and most appts start on the hour - so I guess, if we're getting picky, it doesn't prime one for relaxation - a theme that continued for the rest of this brief affair. The massage itself probably depends quite a bit on the therapist - I had Brian - a bro who would have looked more at home as an extra on The Sopranos - he was fine - not particularly friendly, which isn't terrible given that I definitely get uncomfy when strangers try to talk to me (thank God for Resting Bitch Face, which really limits this) - but he also wasn't punctual, which does actually irk me - boy, please - I have places to be that require me to do more than get nekkid and have you lotion me up - but I digress, the largest offense was that he was a heavy breather in the way where I want to be like, hey, homie, I understand you're exerting effort to deal w the disaster that is my trapezius and splenius capitis...but this is a little much...that said, I didn't feel creeped out or anything - it just wasn't helping me zen out. Such are my struggles. The girlfriend w whom I went had a female w/o a breathing situation and had no complaints - so, I suspect that if you find a therapist w whom you click, ME is a great deal - but I'd rather pay more and feel a little pampered. B/c I am a princess. Eff you. While clearly I heroically triumphed in this subpar massage situation, ME is not without two positives - 1) I was able to call for a same day appt and 2) it's next to the massive Whole Foods, so you can nip in for a quick quinoa salad - and we all know that I never like to be more than a stone throw from hemp granola, so for me, location and availability are the two selling points for an otherwise "meh" experience. First time 1h massages are $49, subsequently, I think they are $79/hour - though w/ a membership it's $59 - regardless, at best the service is worth $40. The place is clean and they play that South American wind pipe music in the style of Pure Moods that I secretly love, so it's not the worst place to spend an hour - and yet, given that it didn't relax me, I feel like it's kind of a draw. Don't go out of your way to venture here unless you're desperate to have a stranger touch you. read more

I'm from California visiting for the holidays and maybe I am spoiled with REAL massages by trained professionals but the best I can say is : Nice environmental at the front desk, nice receptionist, clean and welcoming BUT.... Note to the owner: Hire " professional" massage therapists. It was obvious the first few minutes of the message the guy was CLEARLY not trained. It was one of the most awkward, mechanical massages I've ever experienced. He kept "rubbing" the same spot over and over and it wasn't even the right area. I had to constantly explain to the poor guy how to give a message! Seriously. It was pathetic. Half way through it i just wanted it to be over. I even asked him where he got his training and how long he had been doing massage and I could tell he felt put on the spot. I don't think he knew a single modality of massage. And he missed every key spot on my back and shoulders. I'm not a trained masseuses but I know I could have done a better job myself. I asked him to do my feet and almost started to laugh. He was absolutely cluelessness. It became so irritating at one point I was counting the minutes for it to end- Not exactly my idea of a relaxing massage. My guess is he lied about his resining and the owner doesn't pay much so profits are higher. To make matters worse... the room was COLD. I specifically asked if they heated the beds (or those amazing hot wet towels my masseuse back home puts on my back for 10 min before the massage to relax me and warm things up), and I was told YES and they would "note it on my account" . There was no heaters, heating pad or anything to warm the room up. That was an absolute lie. They also make you fill out a form of the areas of your body needing work and I'm fairly certain this guy didn't even look at that. At the end of the massage the guy just abruptly said "Ok it's done" and left the room sure to crank up the lights as high as possible to burn your retinas! Serious no joke. He lacked any knowledge of what a relaxing spa like massage should be. If I was the owner and it was my business I would make sure to get a massage from each therapist and test them out before hiring them to make sure they are who they say they are. Certificates or not, doesn't matter. A good massage is intuitive wirh the muscles and Aleta's frame and gets it. I didn't get the feeling the owner cared. It felt more about profits and the sale pitch to sell the monthly memberships than the customers and a good, professional masseuse. read more

Absolutely do NOT get sucked into ANY massage envy location but especially this one. I just called to make an appointment for a massage and was refused a time for 10 days because they only has 1 90 minute appt and the receptionist was told not to book a 60 to optimize revenue because therapists are on commission. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Never ever ever spend a dime at this or any Massage Envy. My kids bought me a gift certificate that EXPIRES and it is IMPOSSIBLE to use given their scheduling policies. You would think after the sex scandal they would go out of their way to improve customer service! What a joke this place is. read more

This is the location that made me realize that I should join up with the membership plan. I had my first massage with Helga, and she was absolutely wonderful. I am in constant neck and shoulder pain, and she told me that I would be well served to come 3 times a week or two apart to get back on track, and then I should do monthly maintenance. Boy was she right. She took great care of me. She does deep tissue very well, and employed some methods I hadnt experienced prior. She also doesn't hurt that bad. Sometimes with a deep tissue massage, you can feel a little beat up afterwards, which is normal, but you shouldnt feel too sore with her. You will feel relief. I have also seen Tomas, and he was great too. I only saw him once, but I was very impressed. The staff is nice at this location, and I don't really have any complaints. I cycle between this location and the one nearer to my home, but I always try to get the appointment here first because of the service and skill of the therapists. read more

I was trying to make an appointment with my regular female therapist, however she is rarely available so I was offered try a male therapist. I was always afraid to work with a masseur because of all the bad stories you hear happening nowadays, but I decided to give it a try and now I regret delaying so long. I had Peter who was very communicative with me throughout the session to keep me comfortable, because I guess he sensed that I was a little nervous at first. He firmly address my chief complains( low back and neck) and still finished off the massage with nice full body swedish strokes, which really zoned me out of this world and before I knew it 90 mins passed by. Will definitely be a regular and surely I will always request a male therapist for a deep tissue as now i know from my last experience that it's more firm and that's what I need for my knotted back. read more

Avoid the stretch I don't believe they are properly trained and guessing massage envy is rolling out this program to quickly nice people but they did more harm than good, i.e. Forgot to stretch both sides of body, attempted neck stretches when patient not balanced could lead to some real damage if not careful -Reply: Hence why I used the word "believe" and did not mention the trainer by name because he seemed genuinely nice and seemed to know what he was talking about, I might have been a one off case. Also I have no idea why you're assuming that to be my profession. The Total Body Stretch was a Fabulous addition to the services at Massage Envy Willow Festival. I am an active 64 year old who has lost range of motion because of illnesses and 2 Hip Replacements. At first, I had no interest in the program, but one of the receptionists who put me onto Courtney who is an AMAZING Massage Therapist, recommended just trying the Stretch once. My Therapist, Frank, is a very knowledgeable Physical Trainer. He really knows Anatomy and Movement, cause and effect. After 1 session I felt better than I have in a long time. I had a massage here Friday. Supposed to be at 5:30 for an hour and a half. The therapist didn't come until almost 6 and when I looked at the clock when I left, it was 7:00. The main thing that annoyed me was that I had a gift card that expired on March 31. They were trying to tell me that it meant it expired on the 30th at midnight. That is such crap! I have a membership, usually go to Niles. Now I'm thinking I'll cancel my membership. I know ME has had other legal problems. Trying to rip loyal customers off is not the best way to do business. read more

Called manager repeatedly and never got return call. Desk staff argue and are rude to customers. Very bad experience. Don't waste your money. When I first walked through the doors, 5 people looked up from what they were doing to look at me (uncomfortable part #1). I was given a clip board with pages and pages of paperwork to fill out - felt like I was at the Dr's office. My facial was amazing, but beware... there is a $10 charge for using their Murad products (really?!? Ive never been up charged to use a product that is necessary for a service being provided) my massage - was bad, and not the good kinda bad. What made it worse was the manager's excitement when I came out "wasn't so and so great!?!" ummmm no. Uncomfortable part #2 - I felt like I was at a used car dealership. I had 2 people trying to get me to sign up for a $59/month membership - and they seriously had a hard time taking no for an answer. I was looking forward to a relaxing Saturday morning but instead ended up aggravated and annoyed. I was put on the spot about my experience with my massage and made to feel really uncomfortable. I got a gift card to use for my first massage. I was lucky to get Ophelia who told me what to do since I was a little lost. I thought that I would feel awkward being naked but it wasn't like that at all. I was so relax that I thought I would start snoring at the table. She went all over my body and ended at my head. She thanked me for the session and I thought, "Nnnooooo. Keep going." It felt amazing and I was sad it had to end. I have been missing out for so long. read more

I signed up for a 6month membership and its been worth it. While it may seem extravagant to some folks, if you've had any physical injuries or work in a stressful job, its one hour of having those knots rubbed away. I've seen 3 different masseuses and found that they were thorough in asking if you had any prior injuries and, if you'd like them to focus on a certain area I.e. shoulders. It's a hop and a skip from where I live so its really convenient and its open until 10 pm. read more

I have received hundreds of massages in my lifetime and this was by FAR the worst massage I've ever had. I was a bit skeptical about the place considering the other reviews, but since it was so close to my house and the lack of massage places around me, I decided to give it a try. First, as other reviews have mentioned, when you walk in you feel as though you are in a doctors office. It is a very sterile environment and after checking in you are given a packet to fill out about your entire health history. It took me over 15 minutes to fill out the packet! Not exactly relaxing like I was hoping for... As for the massage, I scheduled a deep-tissue as I usually get. I had an extremely sore neck and a huge knot I was hoping for them to work out. I told the woman that I like hard pressure and to focus on my neck. My cat could have given me a harder massage! She was pressing with two fingers so gently that it was frustrating to me. I actually had to ask her to put more pressure and she said "A) you are so tight I have to loosen you up first and B) this is my technique" It was so rude and coy that I was so taken aback and insulted I almost walked out. She continued the whole massage only on my neck in that gentle fashion with two fingers. I walked out of the massage more tense than I was when I got there! Don't waste your money here. read more

I get massages on a regular basis and this was my 2nd time at this Massage Envy location in Northbrook. If it wasn't for the gift card I had, I probably would have never went back. It was probably the worst experience ever. Not only did I pay $79 for an hour massage, that lasted 40 minutes. But if I wanted someone to rub/scratch my back, I would have had my little sister do it for free. In addition, never once did the masseuse ask how everything was? Or is the pressure ok? Then I was rushed in to get a massage and rushed out. It wasn't a pleasant experienced and you don't feel welcomed or relaxed. In fact, it made me more stressed out after I left. This would be the last time I ever step foot in to a Massage Envy location. There are way better deals at other massage places for a lot better service with experienced therapists. read more

Although the Massage was wonderful the service and confirmation was not! Clearly after the $ ! In the end the front desk was nicer than the masseuse!! Which makes me wonder even more! My facial with Christina was great. She recognized the trouble areas, formatted the facial to fit my needs, and was great about letting me know what was happening. I appreciated that she kept me in the loop and unsurprised, while maintaining the soothing atmosphere. The strip mall storefront is admittedly a bit off-putting, but the back treatment area is soothingly dim, and there's quiet, calming music playing. There was a scheduling miscommunication, and I was only on the books for a facial, instead of the facial/massage I wanted. The receptionist was apologetic, and as they didn't have an opening on the same day, booked a massage for the next day, gratis. A great experience, and I'll be back. A quick note on the locale- coffee, lunch, and a nail salon are all within easy walking distance. Perfect for a girls' day! read more

I was a member at this location for a while and I have recently cancelled. It took going there in person, several times, to actually make sure that it would be cancelled and confirmed that I would not be charged again. When I was charged again for this month, I was disappointed that I was reassured I would not be charged again, yet I was. I have been trying to get a manager to call me for two weeks now and all the receptionists tell me is that there is not a manager working currently and they will have someone call me. It doesn't happen, and it is just bad customer service. The therapists here are great, what is horrible is the management. read more
