I've been a member we with massage envy Oxnard for three years . And not until recently I feel their customer service has gotten worst! Horrible as a matter of fact. Let give a synopsis.. recently I had to call and reschedule my appointment, due to my profession and being on "on-call". I left a message requesting a phone call back to reschedule It didn't happen. I just so happen to be in the area the same week I had to cancel my appointment, so I figured I go in personally to follow up about my message I had left and wanting to reschedule. Needless to say I spoke to the front desk (wish I could remember name) and she had the audacity to tell me "well we don't check our massages, that why you didn't get a call back." I was calm and collected and asked why, she then stated" we just don't because we busy with other things going on". I didn't say much to her response however I ended up rescheduling. Now let's fast forward to my most recent incident yesterday At approximately 1000hrs I received a phone call to confirm my 1800hrs appointment for today. I went in today to check in. And the girl tells me "we left you a voicemail cancelling your appointment." I immediate pull out my phone and the only phone call I have from massage envy was to confirm my appointment at 1000hrs. I'm thinking to myself "ohhh now they make calls". She said the person I was going to see got in a car accident. I understand accidents happen especially in my field of work, but professionalism and following through on customer service should not be an issue or a reason to blame someone else situation. Which I then felt she was making it seem as if I was not empathetic towards her staff. By far not the case. I became frustrated considering it's my only day off, I ask if there was anyone else to see. They said "no but we have an opening tomorrow". I began to explain my profession and availability being limited. However, They were then able to offer me "points". I then wanted to inquire how many massage credits I had the girl said "13". I also wanted inquire how the points work. She then went on to ask if I wanted to pay $10 more to ensure... I tuned her out!!! Why would I want to pay more something if I can't even get in when I schedule appointment. To those working the blue line needing to unwind from societal stress. This is NOT THE PLACE TO GO TOO. The only reason I stay is for Andrea, Shelly, and a couple others that I can't think of their names, other than that I'm using my credits and canceling soon. Now you may read this thinking is this it. But this has been happening for a few years now, and I see more the lack professionalism and customer service. Beware their membership program. They will charge you when they close their doors to customers. They will continue to charge you months after you have signed a termination agreement. My experience with the actual massage staff has been great, but their lack of ethical business practices is unacceptable. Decided to give them a try I usually go elsewhere for my facials! I had a horrible experience felt more like a five year old massaging my face! It was shorter then a hour long and besides that she did not do any extractions to my face It was a rip off the receptionist is very unprofessional she looked like she didn't want to be working not a welcoming atmosphere and she tried to over charge me I had to tell her to double check she took a long time to process my payment. I started coming here for facials as I started to notice my skin in California weather is dry almost all the time vs. Hawaii. I don't know much about facials but it is the first thing you remember when you see a person so I don't mind paying for the monthly membership. I was pleased to start off as a client of Lisa's as she turned out to be so knowledgeable and experienced in her profession. I don't go in asking for this or that I let her evaluate my skin under that giant microscope gizmo and she'll advise me on what is best. I trust her with my face and that says a lot! Overall I'm always pleased with the results especially immediately after. I'm more concerned with the quality of service over the availability of the front desk. If they don't answer I call back randomly or just pop in and make an in person appointment. However I do love great service and it would be nice to get an appointment on my first call. As I'm making an honest review of Massage Envy just not Lisa she would make it 5 stars and the location 4 stars. read more

Been here and the Camarillo location a couple times...Oxnard GETS customer service and my appointment booking experience with Brooke tonight (5 minutes before closing) exemplifies what appears to be the Oxnard high quality experience. Membership isn't necessarily cheap and I am a BUSY professional. By the time I had time to take care of myself it was late in the evening. Camarillo was quick to tell me they had nothing available at the time I was hoping for and in a hurry to hang up. I called Oxnard (which is pretty out of my way but always worth the drive) and Brooke was more interested in understanding what I need and what was hurting, what kind of experience I want so even though they also couldn't do my initially requested time, she worked to figure out how I could get what I wanted as soon as possible. Worse massage of my life. I am 27 weeks pregnant and very tense. My husband was kind enough to book me a prenatal massage here. Should have read the reviews before coming though. The female therapist Candace seemed like she had ZERO experience giving massages. There was no pressure and didn't not touch any of the areas I had told her about. Literally was like she was just putting lotion on me. She kept doing the same motions too which because very irritating even after I had requested for her to focus on certain parts of my back which she did not. She had long nails which were scratching my feel when she was rubbing them. It was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. I have been coming to massage envy for years and have never had such an awful experience. The therapists are usually so kind and always ask how you are feeling and offer you water right after your massage. When I walked out of the room, she was no where to be found. The front desk didn't even ask how the massage was, just asked if I wanted to leave a tip which the obvious answer was no. I walked out of there more tense than I did when I walked in. Will never go there again. Don't waste your time or money here. They are definitely not qualified. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but this massage envy location is one of the worst. I have been a massage envy member for about a year and my main location is off Moorpark road in Thousand Oaks. I decided to make an appointment at this location because it was brand new and I was planning on doing some shopping at the collection after. I was driving up from Thousand Oaks and because of traffic arrived 10 minutes late. I had called in advance to let them know I was running late and got a rude response on the phone by the worker which irritated me. When I finally got to the spa I was rushed into my massage room in an urgent and somewhat aggressive way. It took the massage therapist almost 15 minutes to come into the room. She asked the standard questions like how much pressure do I like and if I had any problem areas which took another 5 minutes. FINALLY the massage started and it was the worst I have ever had. It honestly just felt like hard rubbing on my feet and thighs...I was paying for a full body massage but only got 25 minutes of feet, legs, and thigh rubbing. I wouldn't even use the work massaging to explain it. I have no massage therapy training or knowledge but know I could of given a better massage. I was 10 minutes late and that was fault so I knew I would only be getting a 50 minute massage instead of the 60 minutes I was paying for but it's not my fault the therapist took 20 minutes to start the massage. It was the most mediocre massage I have ever gotten. I only stick with my home location now after that horrible experience I won't go to any other massage envy. If you are looking for a good massage in the oxnard area around the same price as massage envy try The Massage Place. I've been to a few of their locations in the Ventura County and really enjoyed it!!! read more

My wife and I have been visiting this Massage Envy for a few weeks now and we love it. I have been with Christine while my wife has been with Candace and neither of us have anything negative to say about either of them. They are both amazing. My wife has had some back issues and I have had feet/leg issues which is why we decided to start coming in. After only a few sessions both of our ailments are a million times better. We highly recommend this location ad well as Christine and Candace. We will be back again soon. read more

When I am having a rough week or the back just wont take me any further I call on the guys at Massage Envy Oxnard. Cristobal, Patrick, and Mr Carino are my guys. Each one very knowledgable about Muscles and the body and how it all works together. I have with them since they opened and have never had an issue. The office is always clean, the girls at the front always have a smile and are ready to help out. I have had to call last minute (about 2 hours) and cancel. As long as they fill your appointment slot you are good to go, just like any medical office. I am happy and will be using them till I move from the area. read more

I updated the review because even though it took a week for someone to contact me regarding the experience I had they were very professional about it. I've been back twice since this happened and have had great experiences. I have been coming here for about a year now and have alway had great service. Today however was pretty bad. Enough to write a review here on Yelp and Message Envys website. My appointment was at 1pm. I checked in at 12:55pm and waited....waited...and waited. Finally 25mins later I got the attention of the front desk staff to ask them if they forgot about me. The response I got was " oh let me call her". So as it turns out my therapist never showed up for work that day and no one noticed and no one decided to call me to tell me. They offered to reschedule me because they said they didn't have anyone available, or the offered me to "wait and see if she shows up" Really!? Needless to say I don't think I will be back. All they did was offer to reschedule. What about offering a discounted service to get me to come back!? You would think they would do more than just say sorry. Guess being a long time member who comes in twice a month doesn't mean much to them. read more

I started going to Massage Envy in January because I had a friend of mine gift me one of her monthly massages. I enjoyed the friendly staff at the front desk, they were so nice and ready to answer any questions I may have had. They offered me water or tea and after filling out my questionnaire they escorted me in and gave me a mini tour and then sent me in the guest room. My massage was great, I had Jasmine who was a young gal, had medium pressure but listened to anything I had to say about my needs. I've since had different therapists, all who have been wonderful! If you ever decide to cancel you will be screwed. 1. Went in for my last service and due to construction it was the very antithesis of relaxing. Loud construction and yelling. Ended up leaving half way thru without so much as an apology. I feel they should have warned me about the construction when I made the appointment. 2. If you like a lot of pressure do not see Connie. I do not like deep tissue massages but I do like A LOT of pressure which is what I circled on the form they make you fill out. I woke up with the worst back and neck pain so I booked an appointment here and I walked out feeling the exact same pain. I asked her to only work on my neck and back, so I'm not on here complaining because she only spent 15minutes on my back. She kept asking me if the pressure was ok and I told he no and to please use a lot more. That did not happen. I asked several times and finally just gave up. It's NOT an hour massage. It started at 7:05 ish and ended at 7:55 and I arrived at 6:45 as instructed. A total waste of $60. Yes I still tipped her because that's the kind of person I am. read more

I would love to give the actual massage therapist a separate review - both times I have been here, the massage was wonderful. I had an issue with staff up front. Once you come out they pray on the fact you aren't paying attention and push you to buy a contract. You can cancel it but its a huge hassle. Just be wary of them trying to slip you a contract without fully disclosing that is what the paperwork is for. They're pretty sneaky about it. read more

I went to this place because I just moved here but I wasn't too happy. I have been to Massage Envy before and have been going to the one in my area back home for almost 3 years. I have always had great service and everyone is always happy, but for some reason this location wasn't too welcoming. It didn't feel welcoming or inviting, and the whole vibe was just weird. My massage was great but I found my therapist a little rude. Like I explained why I needed my hands rubbed really hard because of my disease, and she kind of made a look and made me feel like a freak, and she kind of questioned me like I was making my disease up. I went once, but I don't think I will be back again. I recently went for a one hour facial and it was amazing Stacy was fantastic and really paid attention to what I wanted and truly delivered what I was looking for. For this reason I will be going back and have my next appt booked. On the downside the energy in the establishment is off very, very off. Their appearance is very nice but the natural flow of energy is unbalanced. Welcoming staff is fine very polite with many nice smiles, no complaints. Once I come out so relaxed you get hit with a membership pitch which I was not expecting. Politely I refused however she continued to try and lock me in and it was right there I came out of my relaxed mode. It took me three times to decline the invitation to join, it was there the smiles left her face and you get the feeling like I let her down. Regardless of my negative ending I will go back again, but I will inform them before my treatment I do not wish to purchase the membership and do not want to be asked upon leaving. The therapist are great! However the staff is completely unethical in the way they sell the memberships. The woman who sold it to me told me I could cancel at anytime. Not true. In order to cancel you must move 25 miles away and send in a utility bill of the new address or a photo copy of a new drivers license. What a hassle!! Was never informed of this when I signed up. This place is terrible and to me it looks like the entire franchise is terribly run. My sister paid $90.00 cash for a massage for my birthday and we also have the cash receipt and I preferred something else for my birthday so we called and asked to get our refund and they said our policy is not to return money. They are violating a California Civil Code 1723 law which is that this has to be disclosed on the receipt and posted which it is not... Also the people that work there have a terrible attitude...it is nothing more than stealing. This is America not some third world country where you can't get a refund for CASH. The place as a whole is a not too bad. The manager, Eva, has always been absolutely helpful though her staff is not as top notch as her, they also provide good service. One sticking point I had is that it took a few therapist to go through to actually find an excellent one. I suggest going to Christine because not only is she extremely competent with various subjects thereby making her a pleasing conversationalist but she also works the kinks and tightness of the body and furnishes an explanation for each. Of course to each their own, my preference is my preference but overall for the price it's of good value. read more

I had a bad experience with my 1st massage at Massage Envy. I wanted deep tissue and got no pressure at all. The manager contacted me and offered a massage with another therapist. I went back and had Maria as my massage therapist. She definitely does deep tissue. If you are looking for a deep tissue massage I would recommend Maria.
