I have not patronized this business in over two months going on three .. as per the manger that is at this location the last I spoke with her months ago that my personal information would no longer be on file and that' would be the end of myself and this business.. but I am still being harassed every month , getting voicemails stating that I owe money.. when I do not patronize the business. I spoke to a young lady name chy over a month ago and explained everything and inquired about why my credit card was charged $75.00 even though I have not been coming to the establishment and my membership was cancelled. Young lady stated she would look into and I would be issued a refund and contacted back to follow up on this matter. I was never contacted back , instead still harassed with calls and voicemails stating that my payment is due . I disputed the charge with my bank months ago , and was issued the refund , now my bank is stating that on 9/9/24 that massage envy at that location provided information stating I made and authorized the $75.00 in which in fact I did not because I was not patronizing the business and was in agreement with the manger there that I will no longer doing business there nor did they want me to continue business there ..( and I have still been charged $75.00)) this has becoming extremely frustrating, aggravating and I feel this is fraud and harassment at this point.. I called the business again today to speak to a manger she was not available, as she never is anytime that I have had to call in about this matter , and young lady named Niyla stated she could not provide me with the mangers name only your contact.. I stated that I plan on filing charges at this point, because this is all unacceptable for them to continue to harass me with calls stating I owe them money ( it's not an automatic machine it's a person that is calling and I have the logs that support this ).. fraud is when I disputed the charge with my bank and they challenged it stating that I made the authorization...when I don't have business with their company or business .. RUN! This location caused me nothing,but stress and aggravtion. They will not let you out of the membership. The front desk is unprofessional and rude. I have had issues with scheduling multiple times. I make my appointments a month in advance just for them to cancel and ask me to reschedule right before my appointment.I spoke with the manager Alexis on January 15th regarding cancelling my membership and she said no because I signed a contract/wellness plan. I even asked to transfer my membership. They will force you to keep the membership. I have not had any of these issues with other locations. I've been a member for almost a year. At one point I was so busy I couldn't take advantage of the service and wanted to cancel. I was disappointed when they asked for a doctors note stating that I couldn't have massages. Once I read the agreement, I realized I couldn't cancel until my first year was up . This is becoming the new norm, 1 year mandatory memberships. Please read your contracts, I just let the contract run its course and now I have 7 hours of free services . it was a little disappointing; but I can't hold it against them because I didn't read the contract. They are bad at getting back to you if you leave a message, so I say call them back during the day and they'll take care of you. read more

DO NOT use their services. I filed disputes with my bank, BBB and my credit card provider. I cancelled membership services in Oct. 2023 yet they continue to bill my credit card routinely. They told my bank I never cancelled. I spoke to 4 staff members simultaneously (at least one was a manager) when I filled out the cancellation form in their office in front of their staff. They told my bank I never cancelled but my bank has proof of cancellation. They were caught in a lie. My bank ruled in my favor and credited my account. One month later Massage Envy billed me again. I filed another dispute. They are in violation of committing fraud with my credit card company and my bank by violating their retail merchant agreement to charge my credit card without authorization. I recommend you stay away from Massage Envy Rivergate. They sell memberships but will charge your credit card without authorization when you cancel and are no longer receiving service. read more

I took myself for a massage today and I have to say that my experience was amazing! The appointment had been on the calendar for weeks so it was nice to know that they were ready and waiting for my arrival. Parking was ample and Lyric at the front desk was amazing. I was taken back to the waiting room and within minutes my therapist Julie came in and took me back to my massage room. Julie was VERY perceptive to my needs but also confirmed what I wanted her to do. She has the necessary skills to relieve whatever tension or pain you are suffering from. The background music and ambiance of the facility is very soothing and relaxing. I will go to this location again very soon. read more

I have been a member at Massage Envy going on 7 years now, in 3 different states. I have quite a few credits saved up, and my intention was to go through them and cancel my membership, because I just wasn't seeing the benefit.. until today. I had a session with Casey at the Rivergate location in a Charlotte, and it was THE BEST massage I've ever received. She pin pointed all of the areas that I needed focus on, and I actually walked out feeling wowed. Because of Casey, I will be keeping my membership, and making the drive (past 3 other locations) to the Rivergate location, for my future massages. My wife took me here for a date and I had no idea where we were going. Though it was was my second time at Massage Envy, it was my first time at this location. The first time was a very long time ago and though I remember enjoying my experience the first time, this time around I was very impressed. Their check-in process is very simple and they ask really good questions to enhance your experience and ensure they focus on your problem areas. I like the incorporation of the iPad for checking in to keep things quick and efficient. As a note, if the time designated to complete your check-in spills over into your massage time then you will lose that time in your massage. Also, the check in area is warm, welcoming and comfortable and they have free cookies. Who can say no to free cookies! My wife and I did a couples massage in the same room. Both masseuses were awesome. Pam did an amazing job and I can't wait to go back. She focused on the problem areas I mentioned and also applied the right pressure and took direction well when I told her it was too little or too much. They offered us an annual package which will be $110 per month for a monthly 1 hour massage. That's actually a very good price and we're seriously considering it since it comes with an extra hour if we sign up by the end of January. Either way we look forward to going again! read more

Scheduled a last minute appointment for a massage after a weekend of being on the go non-stop. The receptionist seemed a bit apathetic, which at this point is no surprise, but my therapist Rachel was great. She was prompt and didn't ask me a million questions during my session. I am so disappointed.I have never been massaged ao aggressively before ever!! I went to get a massage on 09/07/22. This was my last massage because I canceled my membership months ago and they were nice enough to extend the last massage I had on my account. The massage therapist was so rough.. She was tugging, pulling, and jerking. I asked her to be more gentle and she apologized and was gentle for a little and started to massage me roughly once again. Massage Envy just called me stating I had an appointment today at 12PM. They called to confirm an hour before my appointment. She then stated I never received a confirmation because the number provided opted out of text messaging. So apparently that's the ONLY WAY for them to confirm appointments. Massage Envy had my number on file but never bothered calling me until an hour before! WHAT A JOKE. The lady on the phone kept trying to speak over me and explained she was taking my package that was TRANSFERRED TO MY ACCOUNT BY ANOTHER CLIENT. So they will now CANCEL their membership, and my first time experience didn't even happen!! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE AND ILL MAKE SURE TO SPREAD THE WORD. Joined the "message club" only to find out... its a 12 MONTH MEMBERSHYT!! I'm currently going through FRAUD case now between them, myself, and my bank. I called, asked for them to tell me from my contract where does it say 12months (no answer) I DID NOT WANT TO CANCLE.. after I found out about a 12month, i was told they have a 6mnth as well. OK... First, the therapist Katelyn was excellent. If you need a deep massage to work out a few knots - this is the girl for you. The pricing was fair. well at least the introduction pricing was fair. I would hesitate to buy massages at their "list prices". Hopefully I will continue to get discounted prices on future visits. And lastly the front desk team was great except for the hard sell on joining the membership and scheduling "your next" appointment. Now to be fair to the girls, they were as sweet as could be and I don't blame them for the sales tactics. In fact I am sure they would be in trouble with corporate and or local management if they didnt give the hard press. And that's where they lost a star from my review. I'm editing my review after Massage Envy contacted me, very concerned about what happened with their front desk employees: I wasn't able to make one of my appointments so I called more than 24 hours in advance and had the appointment given to my boyfriend, I gave all his information, and was told he was in the system and he was all set. When he arrived he was told he did not have an appointment. That's no problem, mistakes happen, so I called to correct the error. I was talked down to for "not giving enough notice" and when I informed them that I had given 24 hours and asked how that wasn't enough, since it's their own policy, I was blown off with "Well that's all water under the bridge now." Not a great way for employees to address customers who are calling to correct their mistakes. To make it worse, I asked to speak to a manager and got the same dismissive treatment. After posting this review and responding to the Massage Envy Survey they email after every visit, I was contacted by the manager by phone. Scariest part? The first thing she said was "I don't know who you spoke to, but I am the manager." Yikes. I was able to give the real manager the exact times I'd contacted the front desk, and a detailed recount of what happened. She apologized profusely, assured me that is not how employees are trained to treat customers, and said she'd look into it for me. She asked if there was anything she could do, but I'm not in this for freebies, I just told her to find the employees and give them better training on dealing with customers. My following visit was pleasant, though hard to judge since it was my usual appointment and I hadn't had to change it at all. But the front desk staff was prompt and very cheerful and pleasant, a smile on every face, it was refreshing. From what I was told, they had an influx of new people last month and the issues have now been sorted out. I'm disappointed that it happened, however I'm thankful the real manager was able to contact me and handle it. The massage itself is wonderful, I've never had an issue on that front. I've had massages at "resort/spas" on vacation and none of them compared to Jeremy. He's very good at addressing my problem areas as they change throughout the year. read more

Great experience today at this location! I was helped by Laura who gave me a great explanation of everything. Super polite and helpful. She even convinced me to get a membership. The highlight however, was certainly my massage and exfoliating foot treatment with Jeremy! He was great! Terrible experience. My original appointment was at 1:30, but I got a call in the morning asking me if I could come at 11:30 instead. I agreed and arrived at 11:25. At 11:36, I returned to the front desk to confirm my appointment was actually at 11:30 and was told "she's just finishing up. I was not in the room until 11:45. At 11:55, Shakema left me alone in the room for 7 minutes while I was under the steam. She came back in, did nose pore extraction, and applied some products followed by hot towel cleanse. There was no actual massage of the face at any point. She announced we were done at 12:20, left the room, and left me wandering the hallways looking for the exit. I was charged $75 for a "60-minute facial" that was in reality only 35 minutes (including the 7 minutes of laying alone under steam). When the woman at check-out asked how my session was, I replied, "Short - look at the time now compared to when I was called at 11:45". She said nothing, I paid the bill and left, never to return. read more

Terrible experience, time and time again. Do not recommend for prenatal appointments at all. Too many issues to include here, but now 7 months into my second pregnancy, I have still not been able to get an appointment. I have gift cards that I have been trying to use since my first pregnancy with no luck. Staff is rude and there seems to be several people that claim to be the manager. Seems odd to have that many managers for a small location. Last appointment I did successfully make, I was told that they made a mistake and there wasn't anyone there certified for prenatal massage and that I had to leave and reschedule. read more

Update: Massage Envy - Rivergate has informed me that they cannot reimburse the full 90 minutes...only 60 minutes because they are either unable or unwilling to figure out how to credit back 30 minute increments. May be best to avoid the franchise altogether... I've waited 6 days to post anything to be fair and give Massage Envy -Blakeney a chance to resolve this issue...still waiting for a call back. Let me start by saying this is not meant to be a spiteful, vengeful attack. I sincerely hope I can help someone avoid a business that will unfortunately take advantage if given the opportunity. The following is a link to 3 recent class action lawsuits filed against Massage Envy for essentially stealing prepaid massages from people when they cancel their membership. I know about this because I was the recipient of part of a settlement from one of these suits. I cancelled my membership a couple years ago (at the Blakeney location) because I moved and wasn't able to use one of them in time. I was notified of this lawsuit via email and got my massage back which was pretty cool. They called 2 weeks ago to let me know they needed to reschedule the massage and wouldn't be able to do it on a weekend as I had originally planned. Huge bummer, but I get it...stuff happens. I rescheduled for a very inconvenient Monday night which is all that worked based on both of our schedules. Then got a call the DAY OF letting me know the therapist was sick and they needed to reschedule...again. Another bummer but what can you do? With a baby due in 2 weeks and no times that work with our respective schedules before then, I asked if they could simply refund my money since I wasn't going to be able to make it in before the big day and the deadline to use all unused massages is looming (yes they still have this crazy rule despite 3 class actions lawsuits). I was told Massage Envy - Blakeney could not refund my money because they were not my home location (they never had a problem taking my money even though they weren't my home location). I asked them to please get with my home location internally so they could work out a refund. I'm not reaching for the starts here...just asking them to do what's right after cancelling on me twice and being unavailable to reschedule at a time that would work for everyone. I have tried getting in contact with someone about the status of my request since we are now into day 6 (shoutout to Josh and Danielle who have been radio silent despite my calls). The moral of the story is...find another establishment. Massage Envy - Blakeney is clearly in the wrong here and can't even be bothered with a return phone call to discuss further. Finally, a good massage! Back History: I've been to Massage Envy a few times, and never really thought it was that great, yet my husband would continue to buy me gift cards for Mothers Day, birthday, etc. and this time I thought I'll go but I'm going to have to tell him point blank "don't get me any more gift cards to this place!" Having said that, today was a great experience! They'd brought back the lemon and lime water and cookies in the quiet room that were missing the past two massages, which was nice. I did get the sales pitch at the end but it wasn't two pushy so that was fine, front desk girls all very friendly and I managed to escape without a membership. But the best part was Christl, she was AMAZING! Really worked out my kinks and worked with range of motion with stretches, pushed it to the limit and my body is thanking her for it! At the end instead of fussing at me for my lack of regularly scheduled massages and severe tension, she offered helpful tips and areas to work on. Super professional and BY FAR the best massage I've ever had! She makes me want to actually come back, even without a gift card! Massages are great. I got a facial here and I did not care for the didn't creams and gels stinging my face (even though she warned me). The extracting process was terrible and very painful. She was pinching and squeezing my face (there has to be a better way)!. First of all just because I'm black doesn't mean I don't sensitive skin. My face was sore the next day, then the next the skin on and around my nose (which is sensitive and where she was squeezing out black heads) started to scab and peel.. I have a Massage Envy membership, sold by another location, with high pressure sales, and subsequently poor customer service (even entered my name wrong, so scheduling was a disaster). I had 5 unused massages, because I just preferred not to deal with the people in the other location... then I found this location. The people are friendly and courteous. I usually have no issue scheduling appointments. Carrie is a great therapist. I can spend an hour and walk out with my back completely pain free and relaxed. I have since cancelled my membership with the other branch. Once I have used the remaining massages, I will start fresh with this location. For my money, this location and Rea Rd. far surpass any others. read more
