Giving 3 stars is a little generous, but the people at the front were very nice and professional. I got a couples massage and a facial within a week of each other. I scheduled the massage to be a 90 minute massage, and was very surprised when the massage ended 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. They messed up and gave us a 60 minute massage instead, but it was fine. I then came back a few days later to get a facial. I arrived 5 minutes early, filled out the paperwork, and then had to wait 10 minutes for the aesthetician. After undressing etc... the facial started 15 minutes late, even though I was early. The facial was nice, nothing wrong with it but nothing special. However, I was very surprised when it ended 10 minutes early! I paid full price for a "60-minute facial," but only received 40 minutes max of an actual treatment. Both treatments I had here were cut short, which is very frustrating when you are paying so much, and then on top of that they pressure you into giving a $15 tip, when they cut your treatment 20 minutes too short, twice! To sum it up, the treatments are very average, they are not on time and blame it on you, way too pricey, and I don't appreciate how they try to squeeze every last dollar out of you. read more

I was a member here for a long long time. Over 15 years. Prices kept going up. Restrictions on where I can use my credits were put in place. The Massage Envy locations in Salt Lake City Utah have a horrible culture of cancelling your appointments if you are a couple minutes late and then banning you from their locations if you complain. My home location in Escondido California didn't support me either. I lost thousands of dollars of credits. That's what I got for being a loyal customer for over 15 years. Worst company I have ever dealt with. There are much better options out there for massages and facials. Go to Groupon and try a few different ones in your area. Massage Envy doesn't value their customers. If you are a member, it is just a matter of time before you get caught up in their toxic culture and waste your money. Its not worth it. This place is a scam! I've been a member for 10 years and all they've ever done is steal money from me, acting like they can do whatever they want but I have to be held to something I signed when they aren't held to that contract. They will pretend to work with you but the manager won't call you back and then charge you full price and you can barely ever even book appointments. Yes, this isn't a place you can walk into and get a massage right away...but it is definitely worth the wait! We schedule our appointments a month ahead and are rarely disappointed. Incredible experience! Had such an amazing and relaxing facial with Nikayla. She is highly knowledgeable and as someone who has been getting facials for a long time I could tell her methods were conducive to holistic skin health and barrier support which are priorities from me. Unfortunately I am only visiting from New York but I wish I could have a Nikayla facial every month! The front desk refuses to answer the phone during business hours and despite their answering machine saying that someone will call you back, the staff does not reply to voicemails. I've called four times during business hours today and left 4 messages with my name and phone number. They haven't called back and still aren't answering the phone. read more

ME is a SCAM. Do not sign up for a membership. All MEs rack up memberships but do not staff their locations enough to offer a service. They don't have any available appointments. They don't answer their phones, nor do they call you back. I had to show up to this location in person to request any information on options. They were not sympathetic, nor did they care. I guess why would they. ME does not uphold a fair exchange of services for my payment as lined out in my Wellness contract. I would rate them as a ZERO if it would allow me. read more

First and foremost, the location listed on Yelp is incorrect and I submitted feedback to get it updated. The correct address is 2236 S. 1300 E. SLC, 84106. I had a 730 appointment and ran about 15 minutes late due to going to the wrong location. Took another 3 minutes to fill out the medical records, 5 minute consultation and a few minutes to change only left me with approximately 30 ish minutes for a massage. The front desk told me that even if I'm late I would still be charged full price. Now if they would have told me that over the phone, I would've rescheduled, but since they didn't, and I didn't want to make a scene, I decided to just tattle to you readers on Yelp! The masseuse, who shall remain nameless, had rough hands and stinky feet. She wore flats and we all know how hot our feet get when wearing them all day. The room was also very bright for a massage room. I asked to dim the light, but the shop used to be an art gallery and the electricians blah blah blah. Anyways, the best she can do was to put a towel over my eyes. Maybe I'm asking too much for a massage, but I wish it was a cool towel or a warm one. I wouldn't come back here. A FULL physical contact business that haven't made any updates to their policies during a global pandemic?? I am disgusted with how the manager Lydia is handling a customer who's been a member for almost 5 years. My contract ended years ago and I've in-crude a ridiculous amount of credits some of which were during lock down! How you gonna charge me for massages I can't use? Any way, I'd be happy to transfer them to my friends and family who are not high risk at $10 per credit which means more money in their pocket but I can only transfer one per month and not to the same person twice within 6 months...so it'll take 19 MONTHS to transfer credits I paid for?? They never ever have availability, and when you finally get an appointment scheduled they call and cancel due to the therapist having an emergency, or they up and quit, or they just no-show. We've been members for over 7 years, the first two years were absolutely fantastic. We have so many massages to use but it's impossible to use them. We're probably going to end up walking away from our accrued massages that we've paid for. So basically they're taking my money and can't offer anything in return. They won't let me cancel either. So they just keep charging me with nothing in return. It's robbery! It's sad that this place has such low reviews from people complaining out of anger instead of a neutral open mind. I have had massages at various places here and there throughout the years. It's not something I do that often or as often as I would like. I had been looking for a place to try out, but there weren't many in my area that had both good ratings and had convenient scheduling. I have heard about Massage Envy throughout the years. Dubbed the "McDonalds of spa's" if you will. After having a BS overpriced massage in Vegas I decided that nothing could be worst than that or as expensive so what the hell. Massage Envy has convenient hours, open on some holidays and friendly knowledgeable staff. I booked a 60 minutes Swedish/Deep Tissue. What's not explained online or when booking is that it's really a 50 min massage but that's standard so anyways.. I arrived 15 mins before my first appt as requested. I was greeted immediately, had my paper work brought over to the couch as well as a nice refreshing cup of water. I would have preferred bottled water but I won't dwell on the small details. I was educated on massages as well as the benefits. We also went over my medical history and what my needs were from a massage. I was then taken to another waiting area that was dimly lit, a warm fire place. It was all tranquil. Shortly after being seated there my therapist came and got me. She was very friendly and confirmed with me again what my needs were which I appreciated the communication. She took me to a room and told me we would start with me laying in my stomach and left for a moment. She didn't go over the whole "Get undressed and under the sheet..." Instructions I've heard before at other places but lets be frank; I knew what to do. Period. No need to complain about it. So moving on... My experience: My therapist (Monica) was friendly and easy to talk to. She voiced what she was doing and why. Asked about pressure several times and kept the communication open. The massage was awesome! I had a full body Swedish with Deep Tissue done on my back, shoulders and neck. After the massage she brought me some water and showed me a couple of stretches I could do to help loosen up my muscles during the day. She was so informative and helpful. She then walked me up to the front desk. I would not say I was talked into a membership, I assumed it would be pushed on me but to my surprised it wasn't. I actually asked about it myself. It was then that they explained the benefits of the program, cost and fine print. YES we went over the fine print before I agreed to the membership. I was then given the membership price for the massage I had just had and scheduled another one with the same massage therapist. Cost: Massage Envy makes it really easy. Yes they are cheap but that does not affect the quality of the massage. Being cheap is just the icing on the cake. Your first massage is $49 for an hour, for either Swedish, Deep Tissue or a combination of the two. When I signed up for the membership they charged me the "membership rate" of just $39 for the hour. They also waived the start up fee. The membership is $59/month which gives you 1 one hour massage every month. The great thing about it is if you don't use it, it rolls over to be used when ever you're able to use it. What's also awesome is that you can go to any of their locations nationwide. Which for me is a bonus since I travel and vacation so much I can use this when I visit back home or just on vacation. They also have an iPhone app that shows you locations and other basic info. read more

I've been a member for years and liked the flexibility of multiple locations around the country due to work travel and frequent relocation. The past few years I have accrued many credits due to pandemic and then retirement and moving. Despite trying over and over and re-downloading the ME application, it doesn't work at all and NO ONE answers the phones at the locations I use,,, but despite this, the answering message instructs you to book on line The only way I have been able to get an appointment is by going in, which is extremely inconvenient. In the past the service has always been good but trying to get an appointment has become so difficult I regret ever signing up for this. It would cost me less in the long run to go to a high priced spa. I'm so disappointed and feel like they have my money, I can never be refunded so they just don't care. read more

I personally really like coming here. The staff is very pleasant and they are helpful as long as you know what kind of massage you're looking for. I have my favorites and have been treated well when I have ran into problems. Especially when I had a dress rehearsal that ran long, and my massage therapist Chase switched around his lunch so I could get the full 1 1/2 hour massage. As a first time massage envy guest all my first visit did was assure me that I would not be returning ever again. My wife has a membership and she gifted me 1 hour to get a facial. This gift has turned into me pulling teeth with numerous members of staff across multiple locations but this one by far was the worst. The communication between locations are a joke. I dread calling any location because the front desk staff is unknowledgeable and this membership program is unnecessarily confusing. As far as this location goes Mr. manager (did not catch his name) of the sugarhouse location went out of his way to make me and my wife feel completely uncomfortable. Mr. Manager insisted on blaming his staff as opposed to apologizing for his rude behavior. I feel sorry for the girls who have to work for this joke. read more

I signed up for Massage Envy a few years ago and thought the massage therapists were decent. However, when I tried to pause my account, nothing ever happened. I called to pause it (suspend monthly payments temporarily) and they said they'd happily send me the paperwork to do so. And of course it never came. I had switched banks and was switching jobs so they began calling me to get my payment. Confused, I would tell them that I was waiting for the paperwork they promised they'd send. Today they called again and informed me that I owed $250! The manager was incredibly rude and demanded that I make a payment. She claimed that I made no attempt to freeze my account and she would send me to collections. She wouldn't listen to anything I had to say and informed me they'd keep charging me until I caught up on the payments and THEN froze the account. So to freeze my account I need to pay $250 and then freeze it. Oh yes that makes perfect sense! Just a word of advice if you're looking to start a membership here: don't. You'd be better off finding a real spa to go to and be treated like a customer instead of a cash machine. read more

The therapist Chase was ok but he barley used a drop of lotion so it felt like my skin was ripping the whole time. He didn't work the knots out of my back at all Cuz all he did was press his forearms against my bones the whole time. I even asked him to use more lotion Cuz I felt like my skin was ripping and he didn't instead of listened to my request he tried a diff angle/approach. Is this place that cheap they can't use lotion? It's utah people have dry skin! The female therapist who worked on my boyfriend went wayy to deep in some places like on his Achilles area and shins. I didn't even know you could massage those areas? Then after she played with his hair and ears when he specially asked not to have those areas touched in the paperwork. This place sucks! It's cheap but a waste of money and time! i had to rate this 2, because of the randomness of quality. i've had GREAT massages there, but i've had really unmemorable ones too. the turnover rate seemed high for the year and a half i was a "member". the membership is where my problems piled up. if you decide to do this, READ THE FINE PRINT. they are not flexible with their rules. the girls that worked at the front desk have no authority to make exceptions. example (the pre-paid massages are non-transferable..mostly. you can "gift" one to someone, who has never been there, once, for a $10.00 fee. if, say, you have 10 built up in your account, because you work full time and just had a baby, you lose them if you cancel your membership. bye bye $600.00) - my bad, but i won't go back to make the mistake again. read more

Go to another location! I have had my appointments canceled several times on the day of my appointment but yesterday it was canceled five minutes before my appointment. The woman who called me was rude and didn't understand why I was upset because I "don't have to pay for the massage now". The manager was suppose to call me to talk about my appointment being canceled that late and naturally they did not call. This isn't my first time dealing with poor customer service from this location. The management is poor, the front desk is rude and my last therapist there let me know she doesn't like Mexicans knowing I am Mexican (long story, but the management didn't address that either). read more
