I love this place! The girls are always super friendly and I so appreciate the reminder calls. I'm on the recurring monthly plan and the reason why I love it is because of my Therpist. I literally cancelled and came back because of her. This establishment isn't a 4 start quiet yet because I pre buy my packages at the end of the year because they tend to give good deals. This is on behalf of my husband. We have requested to cancel his membership. We submitted the cancelation paperwork to Marie within the required time frame. Of course he has been charged. I called Marie twice and emailed her several times. I've gone through this before with her and besides the increase in price she is one of the other reasons he's canceling. Be careful when signing a membership at location. @MassageEnvy you shouldn't allow your franchise owners to do this to customers. You should look at Planet Fitness cancelation procedure, it is completed at the location and can be done by anyone at the front desk. It's a couple of signatures on the kiosk and it's done. Going through this makes me never want to go to any other @MassageEnvy and I'll never refer anyone to @MassageEnvy. This review is based on my experience with upper management specifically Jennifer and Marie because of their lack of communication. I have sent multiple emails with no response. I called and left numerous messages and was told I would receive call back and did not. I had to call corporate and finally received a call from Jennifer. We came into an agreement and she told me she would email me detailing what we agreed upon. Well, weeks later I have not received an email and the emails I sent have not been responded. I called & requested a couples massage & when we got there we didn't get a couples massage ... somehow didn't get booked for what we asked for! Make sure you clarify what you are looking for because if you don't you might not get what you asked for!! Then they told me we could wait a 1/2 hour to get a couples massage & if we didn't have plans, which included getting a facial after my massage I would have taken them up on it. My massage was amazing & made up for all the short comings of the front staff!! My facial was okay ... I received a gift certificate for massage envy for Christmas and I finally decided to use it for my birthday because my back and neck have been hurting and in need of a massage. I tried to search massage therapist names on here for their reviews. I found Diane had a few good reviews and her availability on the website fit my schedule. I opted for a 60 minute and firm massage. One good thing. I found the prices at this location were cheaper than the locations near my house (cypress and Huntington Beach). A first time massage was $70 vs $105. I never received a confirmation email or call so I arrived to my appointment 15 minutes early in case I needed to fill anything out. The girl at the front desk was helpful and sweet. Got me all set up and showed me to the calm room. Diane came to the calm room and said Beth?! Beth?! I stood up and walked toward her. No Beth?! I waved my hand while walking toward her. She was an elderly lady.. we headed toward the massage room and did the small talk. Said my back and neck would be the focus areas. She told me to start face up, which I've never done that before. When she came back in, she said "I have a different technique where I focus on pressure." I wasn't too sure what that meant, but I soon found out I was not a fan of this technique. She dug her forearm/elbow into a point and just leaned her body into it. Holding still. It hurt but I assumed this was the technique. I know the pain of deep tissue massages but usually they apply deep pressure that hurts, then sooth it away by massaging it a little lighter. Her technique was not like that. It was very still and not relaxing at all. Just leaning herself into a pressure point and I couldn't wait for it to be over. I feel bad to review her so low because that is her technique and maybe others enjoy that but I feel like I just wasted a gift certificate on a bad massage, so of course I was not interested in signing up for membership. read more

Terrible experience. Booked my massage and received confirmation. Show up and they say they don't see anything in system. I showed them confirmation. They wouldn't do anything to accommodate and told me to come back a different time. Had changed my entire schedule around to make this fit due to my severe back issues. Heather is right. They do not do a thorough job explaining the wellness program plan. I have reached out to my mother's bank and the BBB. My mother and I went in April to receive a massage. She was out before I got out and they sold her something but not explaining it in full detail. Yesterday I found out they debited her account $210 in August and $70 this month. My mother and I have not been since April. I jumped on this right away as soon as I found out. If you are getting a massage here just get that. Don't sign up for anything else. read more

I spent three days trying to get a massage at this location. I had two separate appointments. I was physically at the spa and my appointment time came and went when the receptionist came in to tell me that my massage therapist had been in a car accident and wouldn't be coming. Then, on a completely different day, an hour before my appointment, they called to tell me that the massage therapist is having car trouble and is not coming in. Stay away from this location. I simply don't believe them. I think they're dishonest and have terrible customer service. I was never offered any kind of compensation for my wasted time or efforts. They kept just offering me an inconvenient appointment time for a different day or later on in the day that I'm sure they would cancel for imaginary car trouble. read more

1. The couples room wasn't set up when we arrived - Fine simple mistake, no big deal. 2. When I wanted to add on to the service right before we went in the room the masseuses seemed annoyed that the front desk didn't offer additional services or set that up before we were sent back. So we had to go back to the front desk and request the add on aroma therapy. my daughter and I decided to give the membership a try - Gave them my debit card and both of our ID's to set it all up. 3. Then I received an email that I had a missed appointment that I never made in the first place.  4. Received a phone call 2 days later that my information was "shredded by mistake" Asked me to email pictures of our Id's via email. With all the fraud going on this is a HUGE mistake and the deal breaker for me. So disappointing. They seem to be very scattered and unorganized. Booked a facial vs massage since I'm struggling with breakouts on my cheeks and jawline. I can't be certain, but I'm 99% sure it's because I've been wearing makeup & a mask for so long. Thanks covid! :( The facial itself was okay. The aesthetician was not my favorite. She was very aggressive with her assumptions on my skin care regimen. At the start of our session, she re-asked all of the questions I had already answered on the consultation/intake form. When she asked about my skin concerns, I informed her that I was struggling with clearing my breakouts on my cheeks and jawline, then pointed them out. I explained that I had changed to the dermalogica breakout clearing line of foam wash and skin soothing hydrating lotion. She nodded with acknowledgment. Once I was on the table, she started to examine my face with the light. After a short time she said my skin was dry and it was obvious that I didn't use an exfoliant or toner BUT in-fact I do use the dermalogica superfoliant & multi-active toner. PLUS the biolumin-c serum, and skin hydrating masque. The fact that I've been working so hard to better my skin, invested a lot of money into a highly recommend skincare line, and was there for professional help to better my skin - this facial felt belittling and dismissive. The strangest part of the whole facial was there wasn't any steam!? On top of being strange and actually uncomfortable, without steam, the exfoliation and extraction portion of the facial was painful. I did not provide this feedback to the aesthetician but afterwards the front counter assistants stated the facial was missing steam due to covid. I wasn't required to wear a mask to prevent covid but also wasn't allowed to have steam for a proper facial because of covid!? That is confusing and should be disclosed when booking. THE LADIES HERE ARE HILARIOUSLY AWESOME. I only went a few times before I moved out of state, but my first visit for a massage and enrollment in their Wellness Plan was just too funny. My masseuse was burping a few times and it made us both laugh in the room which led to me calling her out in the lobby because it was just me and like 4 of the employees as I signed my plan which got all of us laughing about it. Ultimately tho, the prices are good, wellness plan is very affordable and all the employees I interacted with are super friendly and helpful while still being completely professional at their job. This was my first time at Massage Envy and I am not usually one that generates bad energy. I love giving people chances and know that we are all under some stress, however, I can't be kind any more. I will be good but not kind because people take advantage of kind. I paid for a 1 hour massage and can you believe the massage technician only massaged my back. I have never paid for a massage and have only been treated on one side. I did mention it to the manager and she said she was very sorry and can offer a free upgrade next visit. I will not be returning or using the Massage Envy brand again. Maybe the smaller local massage facilities give better attention and are real massage therapist. read more

I loved my massages with Angela and the staff was very efficient. However, I asked to cancel my membership on 8/30. It had to be done by email. I had to jump through a lot of hoops with delayed responses from the manager. Once I filled out the membership the last date I was to be billed was October 1. I was billed on November 1 and again on December 1. This is not an acceptable way to do business. I have emails to prove these statements. Do not go into a membership without being warned that the management makes it very difficult to leave. They are hoping you don't notice they are continuing to charge your credit card. I still cringe when I drive by the franchise in Seal Beach Towne Center. After a bad experience I later went to the one at Sea Cliff Huntington Beach and it was a completely different story: very professional and not pressuring you to join their "massage club." NO WAY was I going to give this Seal Beach location access to a debit or credit card and I instantly paid cash after witnessing the behavior of them wanting a debit or credit card and then later I read too many stories about them locking into clients' cards and charging monthly fees. People were basically having their cards "hacked" and it was taking months to get them to stop if they did not just cancel the cards entirely. I am not making this up as you can reference this in One Star Reviews like mine if you scroll down. There are too many other massage salons in the area for Massage Envy to treat clients that way: dictating gratuity amounts is one of them. I will not ever return. I feel sorry for the employees as they are forced to come at you like used-car-salesmen to make their quotas. During the whole massage I was being sold on joining their monthly club as she was more focused on that than giving a decent treatment. By the time you leave after a VERY MEDIOCRE massage, you are exhausted and drained from the sales pressure. It's not supposed to be that way. I have a close friend that owns two Massage Envy franchises out of state and I shared with her my experience there. She was horrified that the Corporate levels have not shut them down. read more

The business is a scam. I signed up for a monthly massage and found myself in need of canceling after a few months. I could not make the monthly appointments due to my work schedule. They explained that my credits would accumulate and I could use them at any time. I still wanted to cancel so they gave me an email address to write in and request a cancellation. The front desk gave me the wrong email twice. I waited for a response and got nothing for months, called multiple times, told them on the phone I wanted to cancel - NOTHING. I am very calm in these situations and figured, well I will use them at some point. When I got a notice saying that the prices were going up, I was able to see the correct email and sent an email again to request cancellation. No one responded for weeks. I called the front desk and finally got firm enough to get a response. This is hard for me as I don't like conflict or going after the middle-man. The manager then emailed me with this answer - you can either use all your credits in 60 days (yeah right) or you can pay us a monthly fee to keep using them. This management is whack and does not care about their customers. Front desk people are very sweet and they have good therapists, it's just not worth the bad business practices. I would avoid the subscription or any interaction where they keep your card info and charge you for services you can't use. read more

While the massages and service were as expected, I had to cancel my membership because I moved. I emailed them to cancel my membership as required back in June. Despite my many emails and phone calls, even visiting the location (more than 20 communications) they have continued to charge me each month. When I call to speak to managers, they refuse to connect me or call me back. To date they owe me $480. My next move is filing a claim with the BBB. ***UPDATE*** I received a call from the manager who promised to stop the charges, and refund what she could and offered to give me a credit for what she could not. I tried to buy a gift card for my wife.. My biggest issue is with their policy. I tried to purchase $150 gift card. They needed MY drivers license, phone number, and email in order to buy a giftcard...They made a copy of my driver's license and when I asked why, they said they were creating a medical file for me...I have never used their services, and never will...why is there a medical file for purchasing a gift card for someone else...aside from that, I received attitude from the front desk girl...rolling eyes, and shaking head.... Robert is YOUR man if you are looking for quality (and he's very versatile) - They make sure you get your credits and points and are always open to providing the right information. I stopped going for massages because of this and started doing facials hoping that would be different but again today, I showed up for facial and therapist had quit and no one had the decency to let me know. If we don't show up we pay! If they don't show up then they don't care and no reimbursement! Unbelievable waste of time today, I was on the waitlist for my favorite MT, received a call yesterday that she was available for a 90 minute! Yay! I proceeded to rearrange my entire Saturday schedule as she is booked a year out so a rare opening needs to be grabbed when it happens. I arrive to be told that my appointment was cancelled because I CALLED TO CANCEL the appointment. Absolutely nothing of the kind happened, I sent the manager a screenshot of my call log as proof, no outbound calls to ME on it. I have been a member since 2009 and I try to be understanding but this is ridiculous, how do you call a client and then cancel the appointment you booked them for? I really like some of the massage therapists here, but the problem is the staff at the front desk. They called to cancel my appointment today--not the first time it's happened--and weren't able to reschedule or anything! I asked about booking with that therapist on another day and the woman said they are on the schedule, but she doesn't know when. Why can't she look up a day/time to reschedule? It's just really unprofessional to make those last-minute cancellations and not have any way to reschedule or make it up. The woman on the phone seemed to be rushing me off of it, instead of actually trying to retain the business. This is not the first time I've had scheduling problems/unprofessional behavior from those at the front desk (actually it's the 3rd or 4th time) Such a mess over there!!!!! I would definitely not recommend this place if business. Especially for facial! I found out tap water is used and not distilled! Also there is no proper disinfectant used on brushes tools etc. they are cleaned with regular soap! No bueno!! read more
