Stating that if I were to sign up for a membership then they could allow the discounted $120 rate. The manager then came out to inform me that their location doesn't follow the franchise guidelines that are on-line. Furthermore, the pushy sales lady was a total buzz kill after my 90 minute massage! I hope that Jen got the $20 tip I left for her. And no, I didn't pay $195 - that's not what I initially agreed to. My first experience just to book 2 appointments was a hassle & felt like such an inconvenience but then to cancel these appointments. Called them once to cancel & the girl didn't cancel them after all. I'm upset because I easily could've been charged if I didn't double check & had to call AGAIN to cancel my appointments. I'll have to make sure the girls actually cancel because they will charge you for not canceling & they won't honor anything even if it's their fault. Very disappointed at this location. Warning to Future Customers: Disrespectful Policy Changes and Terrible Management After five years as a loyal customer of Massage Envy in Surprise, Arizona, I feel obligated to share my recent experience as a warning to others. My wife and I have consistently purchased gift cards to cover our monthly massages--something we've done without issue until now. This year, we were shocked to learn that Massage Envy suddenly changed their policy and will no longer allow gift cards to be used toward memberships. That means despite preloading hundreds of dollars onto gift cards--enough for monthly services--they now refuse to apply those funds unless I sign up for a new membership with a credit card. This makes absolutely no sense. I've already paid the money. The funds are locked into Massage Envy and can't be used elsewhere. Yet, they've made my gift card essentially worthless for its intended purpose. Even worse, they charged me $75 for a massage, then told me my account was suspended and I wouldn't be allowed to use that appointment because I didn't switch to credit card billing in time. I was told the manager was out of town and nothing could be done. So I lost the massage and the money. When I spoke to staff, I was informed that their manager had made it clear they would be fired if they helped customers outside of the new restrictive policy--even long-standing ones like myself. Avoid Massage Envy in Surprise, AZ. The management is HORRIBLE! There are better, more professional places to spend your hard-earned money. I do love and respect a lot of their massage therapist! I bought a gift certificate for my husband for Christmas and keep trying to schedule but they are always booked when he is available. Finally made one for March in early February just to get a call 6hrs before the appointment that the masseuse has called in sick and they have to canceled or reschedule the appointment. It might be a red flag when you look down the review list and all you see is one star rating. I've been a member for 2 years and you'd think that would get me some benefits or loyalty points. Nope. I think I was paying $70 or $75 a month for the first month. After loyally laying shears worth they raised the monthly charge $10 and I can't book an appointment online to save my life. My back is killing me but they're booked so far out apparently. I have 11 or 12 massages on the books that I've paid for and haven't been able to use yet. Apparently the more paid massages that they owe you the less eager they are to book you an appointment. I can't cancel the membership otherwise I have a month or so to use my remaining massages. Good massages, just depends who's running the store. Prices keep getting added on for no reason. Found out that it is not a corporate thing, but is up to each location to charge addition fees. They are sneaky because they don't inform you of the charges they just show up on your payment on file. They keep changing my anniversary date so that I can't get out of my contract. WATCH OUT!! This place is a scam for your money. It's a trap as soon as you walk in. They are trained by script to answer your questions indirectly and their brochures are designed to inform you just how great their services are but hiding all the nitty gritty of hidden cost, fees, and made up rules the company has for members. You really have to READ BETWEEN THE LINES. First service is discounted. They do anything and everything you ask them too. Once you sign up and return, they will treat you like a number, and care less on how their service quality are. After repeating myself 5 plus times how unhappy I was with the staff's dishonestly and deceitfulness, they ignored everything I had to say and continued with another trained attempt to change my mind about cancelling my membership by handing me a brochure full of coupons. At this point, I asked to speak to a manager and the manager refused to come out from the back room. After about 45 minutes, the staff finally canceled my membership since it fell under the 10 day rule they had for cancellations. I had to dispute my services which took months because they refused to refund me but in the end I won the dispute and was refunded back the money they tried to over charge me for services the brochure never mentioned. Just before my appointment, I got a call saying my therapist was ill. I rescheduled at the Surpise office. I made a 90 minute appointment online and was happy that is was the one close to home. I've been dealing with stress at home and work and found out I need surgery, so I was now super stressed. Got to my appointment and was told that I didn't have an appointment, even after showing a snapshot of my confirmation. I was told if that happens sometimes when you schedule online. When we called to make the appointment we specifically told them that I needed someone who can give deep tissue massage to a muscular guy and they said they could. The therapist they gave me said she had only been there for 3 months. She had no ideal how to give a deep tissue massage and never even touched my glutes or pecs. I went in for an hour massage and for first time clients it is only $39.00! The massage therapist I had was FABULOUS! She is darling and has the most soothing little voice you've ever heard! AND I really apprecaited that she took the time to listen while I explained my trouble areas...and then she made sure to primarily focus on those areas. Like I said, I am USUALLY not a sucker and do not let people talk me into things but my massage was wonderful and you can't beat the price of the package! Although this is NOT a spa like enviornment (its more of a get in, get out massage chain) it works nonetheless when you don't have a lot of time. The rooms are clean (heck the entire place is) and they play the most SOOTHING music! I have had quite a few massages here and have always been happy. However, I decided my skin was looking a bit dull, and upon the suggestion of the front desk gal, I booked a facial. I have had many, many facials over the years at various spas, hotels and on cruises, so I consider myself a pretty good judge of a good (and bad) facial. The facial I had here though was, hands down, the BEST I have ever experienced...it was truly outstanding. The facial starts with a steam and cleanse of the the skin. I knew right away this was going to be a great facial because the therapist (Kate) had a nice pressure and was really thorough. The cleanse is followed with a skin analysis and extractions (no extra charge for this, as I have been charged extra in some spas!). There is also an arm and hand massage which is an unexpected extra. The facial/shoulder/neck massage was out of this world!! I didn't want it to end (although the therapist probably did because I was snoring..hahaha!). I was so relaxed afterwards, and my skin glowed. The price was very reasonable for such a wonderful facial! I have paid much more and got far less elsewhere. The spa itself is very tastefully decorated, and they have a peaceful room to relax in before your treatment which is nice. The treatment room was spotless and the bed was cozy and comfortable. It was even heated - another nice touch. Check in was smooth and efficient, as always. My therapist did suggest some products (they use a line called Murad) but there was no heavy pressure which I have had at other spas. She was very friendly and professional...all the staff are....I will definately be back!! read more

I unfortunately have to agree with the reviews. The girls at the front have attitude and it does not matter if you had a good massage or not. It also does not matter when you call what type of massage you want...they just need to book it. You say sweedish..they find swedish. I went in for a one hour deep tissue and it was HORRIBLE. The girl placed her hand on my back and did deep breathing while barely moving her hand. Then threw in an elbow for "deep tissue" work. Ive been a member for years and recommend any other location. My favorites- desert ridge, scottsdale/101 and biltmore. It doesn't matter if you get a $39 massage if it sucks its just wasted $39 in my opinion. read more

I would not recommend this location. For my Birthday my wife scheduled us a couples massage. We got there early as they requested so we could fill out paperwork. We were supposed to get a 1 hour massage. After the paperwork was done they took their sweet time getting us set up and taken back to the room. At this point we were 15 minutes into the hour at no fault of our own since we had all paperwork completed 5 minutes prior to our scheduled time. I assumed that since THEY were starting late we would still receive the full hour. Not at all. Instead they stopped our massage with 5 minutes left in the hour. Essentially we got a 40 minute massage. This was my first time at this location and I definitely won't be returning. How do you short people a full 1/3 of their overall time? Luckily it was my birthday and I was in no mood to complain. Hopefully this helps other people make their decision on where to go or to at least give them a heads up that you expect the full hour that your paying for. I have spent $$$ for top of the line massages at swanky/posh resorts in Scottsdale and loved the pampering and feelings of being treated like royalty. But seriously, can't afford that kind of cash every month. As a frequent flier, with back issues, I love that I can pop over for a deep tissue massage at Massage Envy in Surprise, and love that it's close to my house, and there are over 40 LMT that rotate through the week-so if you don't want the same masseuse, ask for someone else. Go without expectations if this is your first massage. Don't nitpick on the little things like the music choices or the color of the robe. Really??? You're there to get the type of service you can't give yourself, the expertise of a therapist who took the time to get the training and get licensed for it. Enjoy it, or don't return. As for me, I return each month, for either a 1-hour massage, or a facial. The facials are so hydrating, I enjoy the glow my face has for weeks afterward. I have been receiving a one hr full body massage from Ginger for about 3 months. I get them every 3 1/2 wks to realign my muscles and joints and eliminate fluid retention due to fibromyalgia. Ginger is very skilled in providing me the best possible outcome from her service. I always have her use mint rosemary aroma therapy in the lotion she applies with just the right amount of hand pressure. I can really tell Ginger enjoys serving others!! Today I had a 90 minute with Shakeer. I have been getting massages regularly with various therapists for the past 15 years. This was the best one I've ever had. I usually can't stand people massaging my legs. She was 1/2 way into the first leg before I realized it felt wonderful. I didn't wince once. I usually cringe during the leg massage. But not this time. It was great. And she was using decent pressure. She hit all my sensitive pressure points and worked them out perfectly. I highly recommend Shakeer! Perfect Massage in every way. I have visited Massage envy 3 times in the past 3 months. My first appointment was at the Camelback location; which was wonderful! Edward is definitely a skilled professional and I highly recommend him. For the past two months I have visited the Surprise location since it is closer to home. The Surprise staff has also been professional and friendly. Today I had a 60 minutes upper body massage with Fernando. It was fabulous! In the past 12 years I have had approximately 8 different therapists at various establishments and Fernando is definitely one of the best. After the session I booked an appointment for my husband. I highly recommend this establishment and Fernando. I feel GREAT! Now I need to decide if I keep booking my appointments with him or try some of the other therapists at this location. read more

When I first got in there was only 1 other woman there. They had me fill out my intake on an iPad. As soon as I was done it was instantly busy. People were coming in for their massage and coming out of the rooms from their massage all at the same time. Just slightly chaotic. My therapist finally pulled me back. His name is Fernando and I give him a 10/10. I had just gotten back the day before this massage from an 8 day trip over seas and I was beat. So this massage was to help me relax. I explained to Fernando just what I was looking for and also told him I had previously been a manager of a massage company so I'm very picky when it comes to my massages. I enjoyed the entire 90 minute massage and in fact almost wish I would have booked a 2 hour just to have more time. When I came out of my massage it was less busy. I was checked out right away. I've been to several massage envy's and never once been happy with my massage until this time so I actually signed up for their monthly massage program. Its super easy. It was a total waste of my time. I informed the front desk but none of those ladies seemed too concerned. They do have good therapist there but there customer service is NOT very good. Wow! That's not a good wow either. I have been to this location multiple times over the last few years. The last few times I called to make an appointment I am asked various questions before they tell me there's no availability until a week or so later which is fine. I called to try to book an appointment for myself on Mother's Day and was told they were fully booked. I called back and said I was booking a massage for my mom that have never been there and all of a sudden there is availability. Extremely unprofessional basically you lied to me. I have had a membership,for two,years now and I really love it. My favorite therapist for Swedish massage is Elana. For hot stone envy, Kory.,I can't tell you how much this has relieved pain from arthritis, migraine headaches, leg pain etc. These visits are my little luxuries for myself but they are also therapeutic for the aches and pains which come from working on my feet all day. The aromatherapy is wonderful, lavender is my personal favorite for relaxing. The only minor flaw is the reception area. I would recommend paying ahead of time for your session. After your are done with your massage, you can just leave, still feeling relaxed and wonderful. read more
