I came to this location a lot in 2018/2019, and always had relaxing massages. So after moving to DC in early 2020 then moving back to Texas, I came here again last week. I was pleased to see that Ashley was still working here, and to my surprise I could schedule an appointment with her about a week or so out (some places are scheduling several weeks out). Four years later this draft review still deserves to be posted. Beware if this is not your home spa as they will use a "bait and switch" tactic when you try to use your monthly credits. Massage Envy lost a 9+ year member because of an undisclosed "market transfer fee" that I was told I had to pay AFTER services had been provided. This was after my 7th visit to this store. I'd been using my credits at Austin stores for 8 years and this was the first time (2018) that I'd been told that I will have to pay a surcharge of $10 per hour credit to use my monthly membership. When I asked to speak with the manager I was told there was no manager on-site and they couldn't tell me how or when I could get in touch with one. Clearly, management and the franchise owner is pathetically hiding behind helpless, hourly employees, when enforcing ridiculous policies. I followed through with my words and canceled my membership. 4 years later I don't miss Massage Envy and neither will you. read more

This location is a hot mess. They mess up the appointments so much that contrary to the purpose of the massage service, it is rather stressful to book with them. First time they messed up the time of my session and first thing Elizabeth tells me over phone is they sent a text message which I approved. I never received a text and was rather baffled by the time change . Thinking it must have been me, I apologize and rebook the session for next day . She happens to be there in person at the location and I ask her if they have the right number for me. Same person who had told me just yesterday I had approved appointment over text, now tells me, no text was sent because the appointment was booked a day ago. I am not so pleased to hear this and, anyhow here I was for my rebooked appointment and the estheticians was no where in sight. Its a first one for me where the esthetician was running late . When I brought it up to Elizabeth ( she was the only one there) - I was told in a loud and rude voice "don't worry you will get your full-time" !! I had to be out of there. My time is more valuable to me ! It had just been three days and I had to cancel my membership. Makes me sad for a business. We have just moved to Austin. It takes some effort to bring in new members. Please get your bookings straight and train your staff. You are in service industry !! Elizabeth manning the front desk is rude, loud and just shouldn't be in the service industry. Sometimes you can salvage a bad situation, but she's not it. She makes it worse. Booked here specifically for a back facial because when I googled that particular service Massage Envy was the first thing that popped up. It is worth noting that when I put in that service, other locations that I selected were not available, as it stated that they did not offer it. Also, at no point after booking my appointment online did anyone try to contact me to say that they didn't offer this service. When I went to the location, only then did the front desk worker inform me that no massage envy location in Texas offers back facials. I should have walked out then, but I decided to go ahead and get a regular facial with my booked time since I had some congestion on my face as well. Then I can transfer one to someone, then I can't. Every time it's 20 minutes on the phone with no logical or consistent information. I recommend avoiding this place. read more

I've had a membership here since 2014. I used to love it, but recently cancelled my membership because I had a few massage therapists who wanted to talk the whole time (including making me feel uncomfortable by talking about how I was "one of those from California" and how they accidentally revealed infidelity while giving a couples massage). AND it's been impossible to get an appointment here. After cancelling my membership, I transferred a credit to my husband so we could get massages together while we were in Dallas for Thanksgiving. Westlake charged me $20 for transferring the credit (which they used to do after the massage), but only transferred a half credit I had used on my account to my husband, which was really fun to deal with right AFTER getting our massages. They said they would refund me for the charge, which was now over a month ago, but I haven't seen anything on my account, and they haven't answered any emails. Thanks for nothing Westlake. read more

Constantly cancelling appointments - often 30 minutes before the appointment. Extremely pricey. No longer have 2 hour massages or even weekends available. Have very few technicians who all decide their own schedules. They run the show - not the company. As a result, there is no consistency in their actually showing up for your appointment with them. Everyone I know has cancelled their contracts with ME. Used to be a good company. No longer the case. I just read through all the other reviews over the past 2 years. Not one was higher than 2 stars. Interesting. You'd think Corporate would realize there's a serious problem with their company and take action quickly. Looks like many here have cancelled their contracts. read more

This is a great place when you can get in. They are reasonably priced and I have only had one poor massage out of more than 20 of them. The masseuse who gave me the poor massage was gone by the next time that I went there so they definitely care about quality. My issue with ME is that you have to call early in the day to schedule time. The selling point for their membership program was 'readily available masseuses' and I just haven't found that to be the case. I need service when I'm hurting, not the next day! I'm ok with having to wait 4 or 5 hours, but calling in before lunch and being told that there are no more appointments for that day is a problem for me. Luckily for us there are two other massage places in the same block - Stress Express and Massage Harmony. I use them for overflow when ME is booked up. My favorite masseuses are at Massage Envy but they drop in the ratings because of the scheduling challenges. read more

They have ZERO appointments available for weeks at a time. Finally called a sixth time and left a message on their voicemail to just please book me the first available. Never got a call back. Called again 2-3 weeks later, someone finally answers the phone, tells me that person isn't working there. Hasn't been there for a while. In the meantime, they charge me for another month. One star for never calling me back and responding to my voicemail, which would have saved me a month of dues. read more

It was my first time at this location and first time at envy , my massage today with Chris was disaster he didn't really massage he just touch press his hand on my back and didn't really massage my back and shoulders, and as far as for my arms he just rubbed my arms no press on it . I'm like wth how did he get hired as a masseuse. He didn't massage my legs and didn't massage my feet I even put it on the iPad what I want him to do on the massage and I'd didn't get what I wanted :( I'm very very upset didn't get a real massage from Chris :( and of course I still gotta pay and tip (wish j can get my money back ) now I have to look for another massage place so I can get a real massage ! I had the very best massage yesterday with Robrigo. I need and enjoy DEEP tissue and Robrigo was able to get to all the right places with pressure points and yoga like stretches. I only wish I could get a second massage before I leave Austin. He is better than a Chiropractor and Physical Therapy combine. I will be back to see him next time I am in Austin. The price seemed right, so I gave it a go one night when i had the time and money. What a terrible waste of both for me. Never again! I'm sure it is possible to get a good massage here, but you may as well go to the massage schools if you want to play Russian Roulette with therapists. My experience here was being "sold to"... Not only did the Massage Envy business try to hard sell me on their "product", but my massage therapist~ who was sort of half-heartedly rubbing oil on my skin, spent the 50 minutes telling me how great she is (?) and that she is trained in medical massage, yada yada - and trying to get me to come to her personally outside of this massage mill. I guess if you want to try this place out...get a referral for a specific therapist ahead of time... and go soon after you get the referral. People come and go. Jason, in particular, has gone out of his way to make it so I can gift massages to other friends and family and now everyone thinks I'm a saint. Being that it's the day before Thanksgiving and family is in town, I had booked appointments for myself, my mom, sister and daughter. I've had an account with Massage Envy for a long time, hadn't been able to use about a year's worth of credits, and ended up having to transfer them away to family members. I was annoyed that I had paid for all these sessions, but couldn't even let my girlfriend use them without being charged an extra $10 for each one -- and she couldn't go to the same location twice for some arbitrary reason. The quality of massage is inconsistent, unless you manage to find someone there and stick with them. I had been thinking of closing the account for a while because it's not really possible for me to make appointments for myself every month, and sharing credits is such a hassle. Now, I've discovered that there is a rule demanding a 30 day written notice to close an account, and that I will still be charged another $40 tomorrow. This kind of bullshit is the reason I don't want anything more to do with this company. Do yourself a favor and find a local business that doesn't require a membership. read more

As a hospitality professional, I work long days and strain my body daily. Thinking I need an inexpensive remedy to the aches and pains, I found Massage Envy and figured this place was perfect for what I need. Don't waist your time OR money, the treatment was week as in the first massage I have had from a "professional" that I walked away feeling nothing was changed. I understand you cant fix the issues with one visit so I gave them a second chance and changed therapist to some one with more training and seemed a bit stronger. And again, DISAPPOINTED. Another mistake I made was signing up for the discounted rate (as I dont make a very good wage) as long as you agree to visit once a month over a years time. Now I am bound to a place I highly dislike and the company will not void this agreement. Even though I have lost my job and now living on unemployment like a lot of others right now. This was three months ago now, they did agree to hold my account for these three months yet then continued to with draw payment from my account. This has been the worst experience with any professional company yet. Granted I have fallen into hard ships, I do believe it is an understandable situation giving the circumstances. The sales pitch(heavy) and program sounded okay but really a 60min massage is only 45 min.s . The massage starts like clockwork at 10min.s after the hour and finishes at 5 min.s before the hour. So you are only getting 45min.s of massage. Also the therapists are only paid 15.00 dollars an hours and rely heavily on the client to tip them. Tough way to make a living. Some therapists were adequate but soon left to do their own thing. A lot of turnover, not surprised with how they pay them. The massages were pretty routine and without much thought to individual needs. A great idea ... for the company, but not the client or the therapist Not very impressed. Well I've been a member since 2008. While there are many pros and cons to my membership, I finally decided to pull the plug and cancel my membership. When it came down to it, I was tired of playing masseuse roulette. So there I was, down to my last free/pre-paid/whatever you wanna call it massage. I had Massage Envy schedule me with a random masseuse not expecting much as I was done trying to find the perfect therapist. There must be some kind of conspiracy going on because I was totally wowed. My head was screaming 'Hallelujah' throughout the entire session (along with some bouts of 'Ow! that hurts so good kind'). I was paired with Rodrigo. They must use this guy on everyone's farewell/exit massage to reel you back in... So yea, needless to say, on my way out I asked "Uh, is it too late to keep my membership going?" Of course they were happy to oblige my request. My response? Anytime you can get away for a massage, it's bound to be a good day. I got to go here as a surprise from my boyfriend when I left work early one day. Leaving work early already made it a good day, but visiting massage envy was the icing on the cake. Since I had never been here before, they offered me an introductory rate of $79 for 1.5 hours. Pretty awesome price considering the length of the massage. They do (as most massage places do ) perform a pre-massage consultation asking for the areas where I hurt most or any spots that are more sensitive than others in order to customize my massage to my exact needs. Brandon S was my masseuse. He was excellent! He applied just the right amount of pressure to my back and shoulder areas that didn't leave me feeling like I'd just been beat up. Massage Envy's whole plan is to get you to become a member. I think a membership would be great, if you are able to expense about $100 a month. Either way, a visit once won't leave you disappointed if you aren't able to commit to a membership. read more

She was abrupt with her interactions and appears annoyed because i got there 8min before my appt, didn't want me to complete all paperwork. Said that it would cut Into my massage time. I got into room by 1003 and was done at 1058.. There was nothing cutting into my time...Was pushy about the package and when I attempted to discuss that I had a gift card to pay she cut me off to continue her convo about the monthly package.. If you go to a therapist here I would go to Charlene, she was always great and I can't discount her. I cancelled my membership at the end of the year and was told I had credits left over to use. When I called back they told me that they would be charging me $20 per credit to use them because they had "expired". That is a really ridiculous explanation. My year of experience told me that my money would be better used at a more legit spa. This is very corporate feeling and not at all relaxing. Each time on the day of the scheduled massage the front desk called me to cancel the appointment because something came up each time (with different massage therapists). Each time they had to cancel it was days before they could get me back in, and then again day of they cancelled. I have yet to be able to get a massage here. At this location they come across as indifferent, short and inflexible. I have had the opportunity to have several different massage specialists and every single time I am pleased and can hardly wait for my next trip.
