RUN DON'T WALK to this Massage Heights location in Newport Beach! Allie at the front desk greeted me and checked me in and out so efficiently (she was handling the front desk by herself) and with a warm smile. Then I received a 90 minute massage by Nanna. The pressure was perfect and she checked with me throughout my massage about the temperature of the massage bed as well as the pressure she was using. She really worked out all the knots in my neck and shoulders (due to all the grinding and clenching I do with my jaw and teeth) and I felt 1000% better after my massage. Delia did my facial and she discussed what I was looking for and she helped make a decision for a dermaplane facial. This was my first time here and I purchased a Groupon for $79.20 for a 60 Minute Massage with One Elevation (I chose a face massage). I scheduled an appointment over the phone. Elise was my massage therapist. I like that before starting the massage, they asked me what firmness I like (I said I didn't know but would let her know if I wanted harder or softer after she got started) and for any areas I'd like focus on. The massage was nice, but no where near other massages I've had. It was relaxing, but I didn't feel relief/ ease of tension/ pain or just general " loosy goosy ahhh" relief after a massage as I like to feel after a massage. I liked the heated towels under my neck and on my face. I appreciated Elise asking if I wanted an eye cover when I was face up as well as asking before moving lower than my underwear to get to my SI Joint (an area I listed as an area I'd like focus on). Massage Heights is located in a busy shopping center but I was able to find parking. It was nice and neat inside the massage room. I appreciated the instrumental music/sounds as that was all I could hear. Also, I liked the head/neck/scalp massage sections but the oil got in my hair and made it look greasy so I had to shower when I got home. I now know to ask for no oil to be used when doing anything on or near the hair for future massages. At the end of the massage, Elise let me know what type of massage she used and the firmness level she used. I thought that was nice because it would allow me to request the same thing again, or different based on how I liked the massage. However, she informed me she used a Swedish style massage. When I made the appointment on the phone, we discussed between deep tissue and sports for my massage and agreed on a Sports Massage. So I didn't get the massage style I requested I realize this is likely why I didn't receive the and post-massage feeling I expected/anticipated (since I didn't get the massage style I requested). Not once in a span of several months, but twice I've shown up and told the person who scheduled me didn't actually make my appointment so there was no room for me to be seen that day. Another separate 2 times I was called the day before my appointment and told It was canceled because my therapist no longer worked there and they didn't realize she was still on their list of therapists. Terrible communication. Service very mediocre. Very very high turn around with their therapists. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

(Review for a facial) This place is very close to my house, so I was eager to try it and really wanted to love it, for convenience. Scheduling and booking was very professional, venue is very clean and nice. I arrived 10 mins early. Their AC broke down hours ago (this was the hottest day of the year), so it's like waiting in a sauna! Any reputable place should have given a call a few hours in advance to let folks reschedule. I tolerated ok, but others may find it challenging. As a result, we had to skip the steamer of the massage, okay. Then we used lactic acid, which I actually love (not many facial places will use acid at first!). Amanda was incredibly professional with very good bedside manners, so truly appreciated her demeanor. However, one of my areas started stinging really fast. She responded well and started to wash it off but it was too late. My entire left side on the cheek under my eye was burnt (and partially on the right side). We spent half of the time of my facial applying water compresses to calm down those areas, had to skip the mask. I even asked if she could send me home with a mask sample so I could do it a few days after, but she didn't have any samples. I've done many acid peels in my life and have never had any issues. However, Amanda seemed professional enough so maybe it was just bad luck given their formula. However, what I am most disappointed is the lack of customer experience. I did not get the facial experience that I bought (but got lots of massage compresses, no steamer, no mask). I would have expected her or the spa to do right by the customer experience (eg offer a free visit to make up for it, or give me a sample of something as good faith effort). I didn't ask for anything to see how they'd respond, and they suggested nothing in spite of fully acknowledging what a sh*** first facial this was. So I am not coming back, they lost a potential repeat customer. read more

For new customers, I would suggest getting there 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment since you will need to fill out paper work. My boyfriend booked a "surprise" massage for us for our anniversary, they insisted on taking my phone number from him and promised not to contact me because they just needed it for the record but of course, forwarded to text me. 2. They're really unmerciful with late comers for appointment time. Yes, it was our fault but a heads up would be nice. My boyfriend booked for 90 mins and the whole session lasted 45 mins charged in full. If i would have known, I would have just skipped this for another day and kept jet skiing. 3. My work is very physical with patients and I just wanted a good massage. My masseuse asked me specifically the areas I needed work, but she continued to just lather oil all over my skin even after telling her to do it harder. Even my boyfriend was slightly impressed. Long story short, I feel bad for my boyfriend for complaining to him when this place had such poor communication and bad service. I was not satisfied, so now, I know this place has 10% potential. Bad!! For starters, they called me to change my appointment twice. The second time was 2 hours before my already rescheduled appointment. They said the reason was that they overbooked the aesthetician and she needed a break in between customers. My aesthetician was Jenna and she was really great!!! That's the only reason I'm giving them even one star. When I checked out, I gave them my Groupon. Several days later I noticed I had been charged full price for my facial. I never authorized any charge to my credit card and the only reason they had my number was because it was required to hold the appointment spot. When I called to rectify the issue, a young girl, Paulina, answered who wanted to argue the issue and have a power struggle with me. She was argumentative and had a bad attitude. When I asked to speak to her manager, Amy, I was told that the manager wasn't there and that she isn't allowed to give out any information on when the manager was working. I asked her several times to make sure the manager calls me when she has time. I have still received no call back from the manager two weeks later now. This is absolutely unacceptable! Nobody has time for this. I am a business owner myself and if my employee spoke to a customer this way, I would fire them in the spot. Plus, this was not my mistake to begin with. I did receive a text shortly later letting me know that they would refund my CC and I went ahead and sent them my Groupon info AGAIN, so they would be paid by Groupon. I liked my facial a lot and was seriously considering buying one of their packages. But now, no way! Never going back there. Buyer beware. I normally leave feedback for businesses when they are either stellar or very poor. It's unfortunate that I have to leave a bad review. Things may have been different had I gotten a phone call back to discuss the issue. It wasn't handled well, in my opinion. read more
