I have been getting massages for a few years now and no therapist has been able to fully make me feel better each week until I came here and got massaged by VIVI. I now see her every week and she is just so amazing. I have some health issues and seeing her each week allows me to go through my week feeling so good and pain free. I have been going to her for about 4 years. The receptionist said we don't have an April her, like I was senile. Then I investigated a little and found April at the Costa Mesa spa. I'm not from the area and found Hand & Stone through Yelp. I booked a same-day facial and massage, and Kamille was truly the highlight of my experience. She was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable, and gave me one of the best facials I've ever had. She made me feel comfortable, cared for, and even took the time to write down a skincare routine and leave her card for me afterward. If it weren't for her, I would honestly rate this place -10 stars. From the moment I walked in, the front desk experience was terrible. No greeting, no smile--just a cold, "Checking in? Name?" I mentioned I was asked to arrive early to fill out first-time forms, and the receptionist rudely said, "I'll check," and never followed up. She looked like she hated her job and made me feel like a burden for even being there. After my facial Kamille walked me to my massage room, and while the massage therapist was polite, the massage itself was awful. It felt like she was completely inexperienced. I get massages regularly, and this was hands-down the worst one I've ever had--yes, even worse than cheap foot spas. It felt like a complete waste of money and time. When I went to pay, the same rude receptionist checked me out. Still no smile, didn't even give me a total--just said "using card on file?". I asked about the note Kamille left for me, and her response was, "Uh, I guess? I don't know." Just incredibly unprofessional. If you don't like dealing with people, being a spa receptionist is probably not the right job. Guests come to relax--not to be met with attitude. I was even planning to buy some skincare products, but I didn't feel comfortable enough to ask, so I left empty-handed and had to text Kamille later for recommendations. Felt like it was just rubbing lotion on your body rather than using any technique, and time on various body parts was not evenly distributed. The massage was also 44 minutes rather than the full 50. Update from Monday to today. The employee did eventually show up Monday at 9:27am. She was very kind, apologetic and accommodating when she helped me schedule my service which I had today. Today when I arrived for my service the manager also apologized about the delayed opening on Monday. She insisted on comping one of my hour credits as well as the additional deep tissue fee which was very generous and appreciated. I received a 2 hour deep tissue massage from Delaney who was very detailed and skilled at breaking down my tight areas. Delaney also genuinely seems to enjoy her job and is happy to relax people and relieve their aches and pains. Overall a very nice, clean and relaxing atmosphere throughout the facility. read more

I've been going to this location for about 6 years or more now. I cannot express how wonderful they have always been to me. I've gotten many massages and wonderful facials. Sometimes they are a little short staffed at the front, but can you really blame them? I can tell that they are always doing their best to make me feel comfortable and valued as a member. I have literally never had a bad experience and that is truly impressive. I've gotten massages that I have definitely needed, but did not make me feel like I was in pain. The Manager Oriana & Assistant Manager Caitlynn have always gone out of their way to ensure I see a massage therapist that fits my specific needs and wants. Even when I was pregnant last year they were able to accommodate me! They have options of different styles of pregnancy pillows and therapists that specialize in prenatal massages. Their membership is absolutely worth it! Why would you pay full price if you don't need to? Why would you pay double or triple the cost at another spa when you can get the same quality massage here? Some of their masseuses are good (Jodi in particular), but the store's policies are outrageous. For instance, if you become ill the day of your appointment and call to cancel hours before you are scheduled, they will still charge you. Coming in would put the masseuse at risk, but money is more important to the company. In addition, if you cancel your membership you have to notify them 30 days in advance, which means they charge you one more time. Apparently their help is so inefficient that it takes them a month to process a request to terminate membership. Bottom line: You could do better. Avoid a business that will take advantage of you. If you look at the one star reviews, the majority complain about the fact that the company continues to charge their credit card even after they request cancelation. read more

If I could give this place a negative star I would. I came here with my friend who has a membership and she decided to treat me to a massage. What should have been a very pleasant experience turned into a NIGHTMARE with my bank. I used my debit card to put tip on the services only to realize 3 months later they had SAVED my card onto her account and started charging my account for service I never received. Then they had the audacity to tell me they couldnt fix my problem and that I should solve it with my bank or with my friend. WTF? What if we werent friends anymore? What if we had a falling out or better yet what if that was a stranger? So I decided if they didn't want to call me back or let me speak to manager which I asked for and waited all day for then I'd go to my bank. Unfortunately because it's as good as cash transaction and they told my bank they had receipts for services rendered the bank took their side. Now I have to escalate this higher to management. Umm those receipts arent signed by me! They aren't under my account! I'm still stuck to this day 5 months later dealing with this utter bullshit that they fraudualently created. Two weeks ago, we received a confirmation that our appointment was good to go and then 2 hours before our massages, they called us to cancel. Would not be coming back to this location. Not once but twice now they have cancelled appointments last minute and ruined our girls day out. The first time this happened was in October of 2020. They called us one day before and told us one of the masseuses was going to be out and proposed that one of us could get a facial instead, my cousin wasn't interested, but got one anyways so that we could still have our girls day. However, she felt duped and the quality of the experience was not worth it. This time they called an hour prior to our appointment to tell us the masseuse called in sick. My cousin ended up cancelling all of our massages because one of us would have been duped again. I was already on my way there, coming from Corona. I find it completely unprofessional that they expect you to confirm your appointment a million times and can charge you for cancelling too late. Meanwhile, they can cancel last minute, completely disregarding their customers' time. I don't know if it was lack of effort or resources, I just cannot fathom a place like this not having a back up plan for someone calling in sick. It is extremely disappointing and inconvenient to have to deal with inadequate service, for a mediocre experience. I would not recommend this spa to anyone I like. read more

The front desk people where great. Welcoming, friendly, and attentive. It wasn't until I was coming out of my massage did I see that there was tea (hot water is on the opposite side as the tea) - but that's pretty nice that they offer. The actual massage part with Mitchell was absolutely great. Mitchell had such a great presence and was respectful of not talking during the massage (but attentive to make sure I was enjoying the pressure). They worked through the knots in my muscles. I actually booked another massage (despite the cons below) because this person was great and I don't mind going back to see him while we look at different parlors. The con - a huge one for me at least - was that the massage was being held in the back room across from the bathrooms and employees only area and the walls are VERY thin. You can also hear the voices in the surrounding rooms. They don't use sound machines (only an overhead speaker that goes through the building and didn't start until five minutes into my massage). I would definitely recommend getting a sound machine for every room. It was disruptive to always hear bathroom doors opening and closing and people talking in other rooms. It disrupts the relaxing experience and makes it into more of an anxious one. It's an easy fix though. Keep in mind that firm pressure is an added $10. They charged it as deep tissue, which I got, and it wasn't necessarily deep tissue. Just a little bit firm. They also charge $15 extra for a peppermint head rub (no, you don't get added time to your massage) - it was okay. Just something to keep in mind. As for their membership, it says that it's contract free (it is) but you have to give a thirty day notice. Another heads up. read more

I recently joined their member program which fits perfectly into my budget. You receive a warm welcome as soon as you enter and Cia did my massage. She did exactly what I needed and adjusted the firmness to what I wanted. She was able to release the knots in my back that were very painful. I also chose the CBD Oil for the massage which I highly recommend for those with a lot of tension. It was very relaxing and felt great. I had an excellent massage yesterday! Herb is the best! Herb, asked what areas are bothering you and offers suggestions. He is very knowledgeable and communicates with you as to the effectiveness of treatment. The store is nicely stocked, and the ambience is appealing. The only issue was when the receptionist explained "the button" on the bottom of the table was for "elderly customers if they need help getting on/off the table." The place is clean and beautiful, staff members are nice and welcoming. However I only give 2 starts because I left feeling like I waisted my time and money. I asked for more pressure from the Therapist and she informed me that if I want more pressure it's extra $10- I said no problem but had to keep remind her to apply the pressure. She didn't apply any extra pressure. She rushed to cover all areas of my body so she rubbed me with too much oil but didn't massage the area. So By the time she was done I felt sticky and oily because the oil didn't absorbed in my skin. My husband was in the room with me and his table head piece kept coming off and his therapist kept fixing the head piece. He didn't enjoy the massage and we both didn't feel any relief. We left the location and felt that we overpaid and waisted our time. We both felt a need to take a shower from the sticky oil and felt very uncomfortable. Absolutely love this location. I try and get in once a month for a facial and massage. Im always so pleased with the services here. my skin feels honestly brand new , glowing and soft!! I do a lot of weight lifting so getting the opportunity to schedule a massage is always worth it. The staff is so friendly and helpful.
