My bf and I got a one-hour couple's massage this past Sunday. We arrived early, but they started 5-10 minutes late after our appointment time. Staff was friendly, and seemed to be running around doing their best to help customers on site (possibly short-handed). Gentle melodies played quietly in the background during our session, but the ticking of the clock was loud and a bit bothersome in our massage room. The decor and setting was clean and simple. I loved the comfy face hole pillows on the massage beds, which felt like a soft memory foam type of material. Our masseuses were in and out of the massage room, leaving the room at least 3 times combined during our session to help other customers outside of the room (I know this because it happened every time the door bell to the entrance rang). This doesn't count the times they left for hot towels. We asked for hard pressure for both of us, but my bf's masseuse did a better job at it than mine. His massage bed had bars hanging from the ceiling which was used for back walking. For my treatment, there were moments that felt like my masseuse applied deep tissue strength, but the pressure wasn't consistent, and she didn't really work on my knots. I did appreciate that she did a thorough job on my feet though. That was probably the best part of my full body massage. read more

My partner and I did a couples massage here today. I appreciated that they were able to get us in within 45 minutes of calling to make an appointment. It was very reasonably priced but there is a saying "you get what you pay for". They did ask to pay upfront which I don't love but whatever. The massage was ok. The ambiance wasn't happening. The sheets are very thin. It was painful at times for both my partner and I. They used a lot of knuckles and thumbs. One of the masseuses had a sniffly nose. We left a decent tip on the massage table and when we walked out they asked us for a tip. I told them it was on the tables and walked out. I won't return to this place again. read more

Called the day of to see if they could fit in 4 massages and they were able to accommodate us. The place felt and smelled clean. My massage was very interesting. My messuese used her feet. She propped herself up somehow and used her feet to push on my shoulders. I don't know how I feel about it. She also used her entire body to press down on my back. During - she asked me if I was okay since her whole body weight was on me. She had to have been supporting herself somehow? She told me she has been using this technique for over 20 years. read more

Worst service: 10 reasons to not go here! 1. Asked the Masseuse to just do head and neck. She doesn't understand english. Starts with back massage! 2. After everything will force you to give her a tip coz according to her, she massaged you! 3. Asks for full payment before (because after her service I'm sure no one wants to pay her even $20). 4. Keeps the door open (no privacy) 5. Only knows 3 tricks and keeps repeating them and I said do something else. Then either doesn't understand or doesn't know what else to do. 6. When I said you don't know how to massage continues with the same 3rd technique for 20mins! 7. When I asked for her name. Doesn't tell me after asking 25times. 8. The place smells like stale cooked fish 9. You will have to coach her to use creqm/oil or she will keep rubbing her dry hands to your skin 10. Will use 0 pressure. Wasted $65 here today. And never going if I see this lady again. Went with a pain, came back in more pain and a bad mood. Avoid at all costs! Edit: there's a kitchen at the back where they cook food/heat food so the smell! Secondly you (owner) should do a quality check when responding that the masseau do a good job and dont ask for tips. Send a secret shopper and you would get to know all that's happening in your property! Edit 3: No! This therapist doesn't use any technique. My grandmother can do a better job than her. Great massage, nice clean place. They have a varied menu of everything from hot stone to foot massage here. My 1 hour full body massage was excellent and included walking on my back and lots of heavy pressure (my request). This is a respectable establishment and I wouldn't hesitate to come here for a couples massage. Update: I came here a second time and it was even better than the first visit. Once again massage Island did more than I could have hoped for. I am able to have the luxury of going every other month. This month I had an injury to my neck and I've been wearing a neck brace. I asked for something completely different. Something very light on my neck and shoulders. I was given a thorough soft touch massage which gave me an incredible amount of relief for the half hour. I put my neck brace back on and went home and actually had a decent night's sleep. I had no expectations on such a light massage but she was able to focus in on the troubled areas and relieve the damage muscle tissue. If I could give a 10 I would give a 10. I had done my research beforehand and requested people that had stood out in the reviews. My mom thoroughly enjoyed her 60 minutes with Helen. She got the Full body massage combo (which ended up just being a deep tissue. She said it was the best massage she's ever had! I wish I could say this was a relaxing experience for me and my mom, but unfortunately, it was anything but that. We came here for a 45-minute massage together, paid $110 up front (which is already a red flag, most professional places let you pay after), and were met with confusion, discomfort, and extremely poor customer service. It was my mom's very first massage ever, and they gave us zero guidance when we entered the room. They just handed us a sheet and told us to undress to our underwear. The sheet they gave us was extremely thin and practically see through, which already made us feel uncomfortable. There was no explanation of what to expect or how the massage would go. Once the massage started, my mom asked several times for the therapist to focus on a specific area where she has tension. The woman completely ignored her requests and had to be redirected more than once by the older lady, who I believe is the owner. It honestly felt like my mom was being practiced on by someone who wasn't experienced. This was really disappointing, especially since we told them it was her first time and she needed care and attention. Eventually, I asked them to switch therapists. The younger woman came to me, and although her technique wasn't awful, things took a very uncomfortable turn. She kept pulling down the sheet to the point that I felt overly exposed and touched way too close to private areas without asking permission or giving a heads-up. I understand that full-body massages can include the glutes, but there should be clear communication and consent, which there was absolutely none of. By the end of it, neither of us felt relaxed or relieved. if anything, we felt more tense and awkward. And then came the tipping situation. As we were leaving, the owner demanded a $10 tip each for both therapists. We were already unhappy, but we still offered $5 each just to be polite. She got visibly angry, raised her voice saying we didn't appreciate her hard work, and basically threw our change back at us. We still said thank you, and she ended the entire experience by slamming the door behind us as we walked out. It was unprofessional, uncomfortable, and absolutely not worth the money. If you're looking for a peaceful, respectful massage experience, I strongly suggest going somewhere else. This was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I ever had. read more

We booked online. Showed up. Door locked except back entrance. Chinese female spoke zero English. Should have left at that pit, as this is a clue. She came out about ten - 15  minutes later and pointed to the menu. I used mandarin translation to say I had an appointment for 1500 for 70$. She escorts me to an empty room. Says nothing. I get on the table and she comes in to massage me. During the half-hearted massage the following occurred: Five minutes in, her phone rings and she massages me and is on speakerphone in mandarin for about ten minutes. Then she puts the speakerphone near my ear and at full blast a mandarin woman asks me in English to "please pay". "Pay her" "will you pay her".  And I said yes I will pay, 70$. At the end. So then she talks again on speaker to my masseuse for awhile longer. Puts phone on table. Massages.  Puts phone near my ear and a translator app in English says "please pay".  Right in my ear I'm starting to get mad, I'm telling the room and my non English speaking masseuse that I will pay. Yes. I'll pay. After the massage. I don't have my wallet inside of me at this time. More massage. My lady calls out through the open yes open door to the other lady and they talk for a while back and forth in mandarin.  Second unknown lady comes in, stands near my head, leans down and says in broken English. "Please pay". If you're wondering, yes. I paid. And left. read more

Julie was at the front desk and she was too kind. She was there by herself and managed my massage and the 7pm massage without skipping a beat. She was able to get most of the pain I've been experiencing in my shoulder area out and my lower back. I did pay up front but in a service industry where people skip out on paying after the service was rendered, that made sense. I was able to go back after the massage and leave a tip. The place was quiet, clean, and very relaxing. I paid $65 for an hour long massage and I'll be coming back. read more

The lady I used to like at this place, Linda, left. I tried the two other Chinese ladies who work there. They did not speak English at all, but of course the only English they knew was asking for a higher tip. I always give tips based on the quality of the job done, as should be. During my massage, these people walked in and out of the room talking on the phone or to other people walking in, right in the middle of my massage. Plus they did not understand my needs because they did not speak English. Worst of all, they came extremely close to my private areas. It was very, very uncomfortable. Then they had the audacity to ask for a higher tip. I was basically traumatized after leaving here. This place is unprofessional and shows disrespect to its customers. Dropped in this evening with no appointment and was greeted so kindly by Coco that made me feel welcome. I was able to get in with no hesitation for the most relaxing 1 hour foot massage. While my feet were soaking, Coco massaged my head, ears, and arms. The foot massage was the perfect pressure and nearly put me to sleep. After the amazing foot massage she followed up with full body work. I highly recommend Massage Island and the price was extremely reasonable. This is a new place, and I was looking forward to checking it out. The prices were low-helpful for trying out their services. I am really writing this to the owners: put warm pads under your massage table, perhaps have a form that says, "any place we should be careful of? And hard or soft touch". And instead of a sign out front saying MASSAGE $40. Have a sign that says come have a cup of tea..for free, then know enough English to put your new friend at ease.
