Very disappointed.... SO I had booked an appointment for the Valley Isle Day Spa, which used to be this address: 847 S Kihei Rd #205 But when I called the usual number and booked my massage thinking I'd be at the same location at the end of the phone call, the lady said they had moved to a new location, which ended up being this "Maui Massage" location. I had never been here before so I figured nothing to it, they just happened to move no big deal but when I got there...it was one big room with no separate massage rooms, no service and it was a complete downgrade from the Valley Isle Day Spa location that had just renovated with a changing room, waiting room, separate massage rooms, fresh water with pineapple. WHAT HAPPENED? I just honestly felt like I was mislead from this business. The massage was just okay.. and the noise from the restaurant next door and the cars on the highway as background noise was horrible. And in comparison to the original Valley Isle Day Spa location and amazing service, this was a complete downgrade for the money spent. It obviously was a management/proprietary issue but there was no explanation to me as their repeat customer. It felt like perhaps one owner or staff member kept the original phone number and client list but the new location and service was very disappointing... I still need to look into the original address location to see if it's still a spa but I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone else. I'm sure there's more to their business story but I am just basing it off of my experience and felt misguided as an original customer of Valley Isle Day Spa. Heed the warnings! Or you'll probably end up wishing you did. Worst massage experience I've ever encountered. $90 for 48min of crap. Not sure what kind of techniques were used but it felt more like a weird rub down. I don't mean sensual or erotic rub down - so, men, don't get excited. I'm not sure what rating I can give here. I received the Coconut craze package five days ago when I was there for my 50th birthday. My massage lady, Susan, seemed either a little scattered or a little frazzled. My package included a massage, body scrub and facial. The body massage was absolutely wonderful. The body scrub was a little strange considering that apparently they offer this but don't have a shower facility for you to rinse off. So after she did the body scrub, she basically had to wipe off the scrub with warm towels which still left me covered in scrub granules while lying on the massage table. Kind of strange. Lastly, she did my facial which I have to say was fairly subpar. It was basically just some brief scrubbing granules on my face and then wiping them off with a warm towel and then applying some type of moisturizer and again applying a warm towel. It was very underwhelming. I had a body massage here a couple years back and it was absolutely amazing. I think that if you offer services that includes a body scrub with granules, you need to have a facility for your clients to rinse off afterwards. I definitely would go back for a massage as I am a regular at Sugar Beach resort which is literally steps from this business. Not sure if I would ever get this package again. I do have to say that she texted me asking if I would be able to come in an hour earlier for my appointment and compensated me by adding hot stones into my massage which was nice. read more

What other reviews say about the location is true, its pretty sad and made us quite nervous when we arrived. Luckily the lawn mower outside stopped as our massage started. The massages for both me and my wife were excellent and we left feeling much better. But if you want a full spa experience with nice rooms, etc., this is not the place. If you feel good about just getting a good massage, as if someone came and did this in your hotel/condo/home, then this place is fine. They used oils and had good technique. If you are alone and want plenty of privacy, then again this is not the place, as there is only a curtain separating their only two tables. Or maybe you'll get lucky and no one else will be there when you get your massage. read more

I booked a last minute massage/facial for myself and 2 daughters. They were very accommodating and were able to provide a prenatal massage and make my teenager feel comfortable as well. I went in for a 1 hour massage, 1 hour body wrap, and a half hour facial. I had 1 therapist for my massage and 1 for my facial/wrap. I would say the massage was average. The therapist was attentive, I just had trouble getting comfortable given the setting which I'll talk more about later. My facial was heavenly - one of the best I've had. I felt refreshed and my skin absolutely glowed afterward. It was my first time having a body wrap so I had no expectations going in. I have to say the body wrap got me more relaxed than the massage, although parts of the body wrap process felt awkward. Before having the mixture applied to me, I had to roll on my side and sit up for a bit for them to lay towels under me. Since I had just finished my massage, my guess it that this was done so I didn't have to get dressed and resituate in another pre-prepped area but that would definitely been my preference over having the table prepped with me laying on it. After that, things went smoothly and I drifted into a relaxed paradise. The scalp and foot rub that accompanied my wrap and facial only made things better. Now back to the less than ideal setting. This day spa is one big room (think large studio) that is spaced off into a lobby and 2 treatment areas using hanging dividers and standing shoji screens. There are small gaps between some of the dividers so it is possible that someone could see you. The openness made me uncomfortable when changing as I am used to places that put you in private, individual rooms. When I went, they didn't use both treatment areas at the same time so that eased some of the tension but if you're a little squeamish about this like me, you may want to inquire whether anyone will be scheduled at the same time as you. My second issue with this place is the lighting. The same shoji screens that divide the room are also used to line the windows for privacy. However, shoji screens are made of paper so while they're great for privacy, they also let a lot of light in. My eyes were covered during my treatments, but the brightness still bothered me enough to make complete enjoyment of my day impossible. Again, this may just run with my preference for a private treatment room but I am accustomed to very dark treatment rooms as I think it induces relaxation. My wife and I choose this place because it was steps away from our condo rental. We only had massages, so that's all we can comment on. If you are looking for the 5 star massage at the Ritz with all the bells and whistles, then you will be disappointed. However, if you remember that you're in Hawaii and here to relax, then you will enjoy your very well done massage. We had a great experience here. Great way to start our vacation. read more

This place is a HUGE disappointment. I booked a massage well in advance so as not to run into any issues. Well it turns out issues were all I would encounter. A few days before my scheduled appointment I received an email asking me to confirm the booking, but I noticed that they had booked the wrong treatment for me. No big deal, I called them and they changed it. When I arrived for my massage, I was greeted by an empty reception area. Soon a therapist came out to greet me. She actually had to step away from the massage she was giving in order to talk to me. She then told me that my therapist wasn't there, and asked me to wait 45 minutes for her to arrive. Now I only had a sitter for a short time so I couldn't wait for her, and even if I could I wouldn't have. In their defense, they did try to call me about an hour earlier to notify me that there had been a "miscommunication about the schedule". I'm a busy person, I have things to do, and I didn't get their message. I just assumed that I could count on an appointment that I had made weeks earlier and confirmed two days prior. For their mistake they offered me a massage for $50. The thing is, I have no faith in this place now. And after reading some of the other reviews I'm almost certain that I still wouldn't leave there satisfied. Seriously, this place is a hot mess. I finally did get my desperately needed and anticipated massage at Hidden Spa. Not only was it an AMAZING massage given by a true professional in a QUIET and PRIVATE room, it cost way less than the ones offered at this place. read more

Visited April 2013 My mom and I were staying at this resort and we thought it was great that they had a "spa" on site. I would not consider this a spa. First, it is so unprofessional looking. It really is one big room, separated by a screen. I would not want to be almost naked on the table, knowing there is a stranger next to me who could peek through. It just felt uncomfortable; not how you want to feel at a spa. Also, this place shares a wall with the cafe next door. It was pretty loud and you could smell the food cooking. Anybody walking by outside, you could easily hear them talking. We both got the pineapple express package. Express was definitely the right word for it. It felt extremely rushed, and the "massage" felt like a rub down with lotion. The scrub was really rough and abrasive. I'm pretty sure it was straight rock salt being rubbed on me. An actual scrub should not hurt when its being rubbed on you. Also, I told her I had a small sunburn spot on my shoulder, but that didn't stop her from rubbing salt on it. Ouch!! Very disappointed in this place. Spend a little more money, and drive to another resort spa. This place is not worth it. read more

While on vacation in Kihei we visited Massage Maui. The area seemed perfectly safe in my opinion, the actual "spa" is not the most fabulous. The staff however makes this place shine. Lisa was quick to call me back when initially setting up the appointment. We were greeted with champagne upon arrival. Our masseuses were Annetta and Jessica. The massage was fantastic! I had multiple spots that needed working on and Annetta was able to get out all my kinks! I was thoroughly impressed. I also had forgotten my wallet at the shop when I left, the ladies there called me to let me know and had my wallet placed securely behind the counter. Wonderful customer service! read more

Massage Maui is a hidden gem in the Sugar Beach resort. I've had massages from multiple therapists here and they've all been amazing. The setting is friendly and casual. I found this as a gymnasium! Maybe with snacks it a cafe or a restaurant? Yelp needs to clean this up. With correct details I'd feel more likely to be trusting somebody's mistake in having yelp saying it's a gym, when it's not. Or are there weight, circuit training machines, etc.? read more

Gave 1 star because there wasnt a zero....if you are looking for an even decent massage/spa experience...do not waste your time or money here! There is no restroom, there is NO PRIVACY, very small and not very clean space. There were 2 therapist that worked on 4 of us and each massage and wrap was completely different (including one of us walking out with mud still remaining all over her legs) there was no consistency but we were definitely charged the same. Neither introduced herself so we dont even know their names. The music was nice if you could hear it over the slamming of dishes coming from the restaurant next door. The noise from the sidewalk and street was also overwhelming....arent you supposed to relax during a massage? Well good luck with that. I have had many spa treatments all over and this is by far the worst experience ever.....again DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME....IF YOU SEE VALLEY ISLE DAY SPA WITH THE BEAUTIFUL INVITING WEBSITE AND BELIEVE THAT IS THE ONE YOU WILL BE GOING TO IT IS NOT. you will be redirected via phone to this horrible little place. read more

What a train wreck. I left feeling more tense than before I went. Reception and the massage tables and everything else are all in one open room with hanging sheets as dividers, for starters. I could see the massage table behind the curtain next to mine, and during my massage someone entered the place and my massage therapist stepped out of my massage to greet the person who entered. I won't even get into the god-awful customer service I experienced from the owner. On top of it all, the prices are way higher than the vastly superior Hidden Spa in the Island Surf building on South Kihei Road. Avoid this joint! read more

Lots of bad reviews from people who seem very needy. My wife and I have gotten many massages, and this was right up there with the best. They massaged in ways and places I've never had massaged..who knew you could get knots in your wrist? They took the time to ask if you had problem areas, mine is my shoulders and back. She spent a good amount of time working out the knots and it felt great. My feet are also very sensitive which she found out fast, but nevertheless she took her time and continued carefully. Both ladies were very nice, and genuinely wanted us to have a good time which you dont always get. The location IS small, and close to the road but you should understand what that means before you book an appointment. Neither my wife or I had a problem with it. Overall we greatly enjoyed our 60 minute massages and would love to come back again read more

Only reason I'm giving one is it is the lowest it will let you. This place is using valley isle day spa phone number and their ads..... This place is not that in any way shape or form! So I called this place based on an advertisement I see only to be then directed to massage Maui their new name i'm told it's a little hole in the wall with spiderwebs crawling down the ceiling a canvas tarp splitting the room into to massage beds you have zero privacy curtains to the outside don't even fully close so anyone walking by can see right in. Now the service that was received I have never ever in my 60 years of getting massages from numerous places had such a horrible horrible experience as I did there I felt like I had been ran over by a train any massage therapists that uses only their elbows to massage you isn't a true therapist in my opinion If I could give negative start this place would certainly earned that. The cost was ridiculous for the service received. I truly believe it is false advertising when you look at the ad and what you see on the website and then you get the little hole in the wall.
