After a massage with Sarah Schlamp at Massage Solace, I'll never go to anyone else. I can't say enough good things about it. When I find a business I like, I tell everyone about them, so I have to tell all the awesomeness that is Massage Solace.
I'm always skeptical of massage because I've had some terrible ones in the past. I think it's ridiculous to pay so much money and walk away thinking, "oh, I guess I feel a little better."
With Sarah, I felt comfortable. Before we even started she asked what I wanted out of the massage. Throughout the massage she kept checking to make sure I had the pressure I wanted and that she was working the correct areas.
After my hour long massage, I realized that I had more out of whack in my body than I thought. I had knotted muscles on top of my knotted muscles. I gave birth back in Feb. 2011 and have been nursing, so my muscle aches from before pregnancy were compounded. We discussed a program of massage therapy, where I would come in multiple times a week to work out the muscles. Holy crap, that was awesome!
I did a Monday, Wednesday, Friday massage program and drank tons of water in between so I didn't get dehydrated from the massage. I highly recommend doing a proram of massage if you have been in a car accident, had a baby, are a nursing mother, a sports injury or any other injury that needs attention.
Seriously, Sarah has changed my life. Thanks Sarah!
Here's a little pro/con list.
Cons:
1. Massage Solace was a little difficult to find; it's in a strip mall behind Wichita Grill near Fred Meyer.
2. Sarah only works by appointment. But, well worth the effort.
Pros:
1. Does an amazing job working out your "problem areas" using several types of massage techniques. (Sarah used Swedish massage, Cranial-Sacral, Deep Tissue, Meridian Tapping and a breathing technique I've never done before to help relieve my tension.)
2. Sarah specializes in injury correction and massage therapy for pain relief, so I was able to heal from past injuries I didn't even know I had.
3. Sarah talked with me to see what I wanted out of the massage. When I said I had a pain spot, she'd work on it until it went away.
4. Definitely relaxing.
5. The best massage therapist in Oregon City - possibly anywhere in Portland. read more
