First visit here and it went extremely well. Frank did so well that I was comfortable enough to go to sleep. He also provided aftercare recommendations which I do not believe I have ever received stateside from a massage therapist. Only recommendation/critique is that with such a serene environment, we can hear everything and some guests likely need to be coached to use a slight whisper. My arriving neighbor was a little too loud and I found it disruptive to my experience. We still enjoyed our massages and look to return soon. read more

I have been seeing Ingrid for three years now and she is absolutely amazing! She has helped me tremendously with my tensional headaches and muscle aches. I always leave the sessions feeling so much better. I've been doing a lot of pole conditioning lately, which has led to chronic stiffness and soreness in my neck and shoulders that has not been helped by rest. I was advised by classmates to try a massage, which sounded like a good idea, but I had reservations to the extent that I knew nothing about massages. However, one of my pole instructors recommended Massage Studio St. Peterburg, telling me that I would be able to talk to them and receive a massage specific to my needs. However, to make an appointment here, one must work through a very clunky online checklist which presumes that the person filling out the form has had multiple massages in the past. I filled out the form as best I could, but added a note stating that some of my responses were only provisional, and I that wanted the chance to talk to somebody in person before the massage to be sure that I was making an informed decision. When the time for my appointment arrived, I showed up early, and discussed my concerns with the two women at the front desk. They assured me that the person providing the massage would discuss all of my concerns with me. After I was shown into the massage room, I told the masseuse (a) that I was specifically here for stiffness and soreness in my neck and shoulders and (b) that I had no idea which of the multiple options listed on the online checklist was best suited for my issue. She assured me she understood. My friends told me that I should expect the massage to be painful, but that the pain was necessary to relieve the stiffness. And I was fine with that, to the extent that I'VE NEVER HAD ONE OF THOSE MASSAGES (and frankly, I still haven't). However, the massage I received wasn't painful at all. And then I was surprised when she started working on my legs, when I came in there saying I was there for my neck and shoulders, but I figured, what did I know, maybe she's leading up to something. But no. Suddenly, the whole thing was over--and THEN, she told me that the NEXT time I came, she recommended a "therapeutic" massage to my upper body only, and I asked "if that's what I needed, why didn't I get that now? Because that's what I came in TODAY to get." She said that signed up for the light Swedish massage, and I said--again--I signed up for that because I had to sign up for something just to come in and find out about all the options on the online form. And then I went out to the front desk, and they immediately tried to sign me up for another massage that was $30 more. So...it was an absolute waste of time, and I walked out of there with the same stiffness and soreness, feeling like an absolute chump. I might as well have gone to the mall, paid five bucks, and sat in one of those massage chairs. Having little to no experience with massage, I wrongly assumed that any licensed massage establishment would seek to educate potential customers about which massages are specifically intended to address certain physical issues, and to help them make informed decisions regarding their services. Maybe other establishments do this, but this facility does not. While the owner claims to "conduct an in-person consultation prior to your massage," the fact of the matter is that to undergo that in-person consultation, one must not only choose the massage they will receive REGARDLESS of the substance of the "consultation"--plus you also must provide an email, home address, and credit card info. The owner claims that the website provides "detailed descriptions of our modalities ... to help you choose the right treatment," yet ignores the fact that these (frankly, pithy) descriptions are silent as to the results they are intended to provide with regard to particular physical concerns. The bottom line is this: you can't get an appointment at this place without choosing a massage, and if you are seeking something specific and don't know which massage is best, bear in mind that you will be stuck receiving the massage you signed up for--and there's a cancellation fee if you try to back out. In other words, the purpose of the "in-person consultation" is to sell a second massage (which cost thirty dollars more than the first massage). The women at the front desk were all set to sign me up, and I told them that there was no chance of me ever making a follow-up appointment, and they eventually offered to comp me, but I paid them IN FULL and got out of there. For all of their cancellation fees and upcharges and follow-up massages, my problem with this establishment isn't about the money they charged--it's the fact that they took a special day for me, a day when I had hoped to give my body some attention, and they absolutely ruined it, wasting my time by intentionally giving a massage that the masseuse knew wasn't the massage I needed or was seeking, for the sole purpose of trying to upsell a second, better massage. read more

A wonderful, clean, and extremely relaxing experience! I've been a few times now and most recently saw Aly for a therapeutic massage. She made my sore and tired legs (and back/neck/shoulders) feel SO much better! She asked me all the right questions at the beginning to personalize my massage, gave me the firm pressure I needed after an intense workout, and was super friendly (although she followed by lead and wasn't chatty so I could focus in the calming music). Lately I have been feeling crazy, weird, wild ascension symptoms. They've been lingering since the new moon. Today I decided, very last minute, to get a massage to assist in the process of birthing a new me. I got on yelp, followed my intuition and the signs that led me to Massage studio. I called and they had one appt available, with a man named Chris. I usually never go with a man. It's very much outside of my comfort zone. I tend to think of a man's touch as sexual. However my intuition was telling me this was a way to get out of my comfort zone and create a new belief about a man massaging me. Listen, I was so wrong lol. Shows me how much our minds can convince us of lies. Chris was completely professional and his hands were absolutely healing, gentle and strong. I called them on Tuesday around lunch and she said they had no problem getting me in that evening at 8 for 60/90/120 minutes. I thought great, well there is a reason I think why she could get me in so quickly. Once I arrived and the therapist came in, I asked her how long she had been doing this. She said oh this is my first job and I have been here a month. Ok, well I was here and don't want to be "judgey". 90 mins later I was 100% convinced I had made a pretty bad decision. It was very strange, she never really did much work on my body. She played with the sheets ALOT, walked around the table with her hand on me. She did do some lighter than asked for massage but there was no order to it and she moved around while skipping areas that were the most asked to be addressed. Updating my review because I've experienced a few more massages here and finally bit the bullet and got a monthly membership, which locks in "member" pricing. Still 4 stars because even at member pricing ($70 for a 60 min therapeutic massage) the cost is almost double what I typically pay elsewhere, but now I'm hooked!!! It's like going back to economy after flying business internationally, the cost is hard to swallow but the experience is so much better!!! I think I've been willing to pay the extra $ lately because I've had a lot of back issues, and have come to trust that the therapists at Massage Studio really know what they are doing (I've used 3 different therapists now). On Sunday, I saw Cara, and have already scheduled another massage with her next weekend! I love coming here. The place is always very calm, clean and inviting. And most important they are on time, I have never had to wait past my appointment. Each time I arrive I am greeted by a friendly face and there is optional water and tea for before or after your treatment. I feel pretty lucky because I got a great tech on my first try, Jennifer. She does a great job - just the right amount of pressure. I find some techs are fairly light handed. I opted to join the club so I can receive the member discount. When you join a monthly amount is auto drafted from you account and you can use as you wish. For me it encourages me to make sure I get a massage at least once a month. What I like about the membership is that if they accrue you can still use them of -- but you can apply them to more expensive services if they do start to pile up. This may have been the best massage I've ever had. They take the time to ask about what you prefer so they can customize your experience- including the scent in the room. I wasn't sure if my masseuse would be able to get the knots out since she was so tiny but she found all of the areas by finding the smallest pressure points. Even though some of the work hurt as she was getting out the knots, the whole ambiance and her work was so great that I still ended up passing out at points. I've tried stretching and other massages and yoga and physical therapy and nothing has helped as well as Jessica's therapeutic massage just did.
