The massage itself was great, but you cant advertise a 90 minute massage for $70 and demand that a customer tip you more than 30%. If you are going to demand a certain amount then you should price the massage accordingly. I came here to have a nice massage and leave what I thought was a nice tip of $20 on $70, well over 20% and the two women demanded more and tried to make me feel bad. It got to the point when I said what amount of money will make you happy so I can leave? It was ridiculous. They had a sign that said to tip 20% which I did. Then when I referenced their sign they said it was old and from before the new year. I told them they need to change the sign to reflect that they demand a 30% tip. And they only accept cash. I don't know what this business is up to but I have never been a bad tipper and have never been hounded so badly for more money. And they try to play it off as a language barrier so you feel awkward not giving them more. Totally unacceptable. And no one in their right mind gives a 30% tip. I ended up giving the woman $100, and the woman offered to give me 5 dollars back. Wish I had read these reviews beforehand because it's clear that this business is exploitative. Despite the nice massage, I will never go back. Bring your business elsewhere. No one should be essentially guilted into coughing up a 30% tip. And they even watched me as I took the money out of the atm (which they conveniently didn't have a fee for, so that they could continue to make you go back to the atm to give them more money. Overall, an unpleasant experience. The massage itself was fine, say 3.5 or 4 on scale 1-5. I had much better ones, but there was nothing bad about this one. So, I decided to leave 15% of tip; the massage was $40, so I left $6 as a tip. Then it became unpleasant. The lady has asked me to leave $12 as: 20% is the custom, and the regular massage price is $60 so 20% is $12 but not $8 (this was confusing to me, but I let it be). Then I said that the massage was OK, but nothing spectacular and I decided to leave that much of a tip. She replied that I *should* give more to her and that I should learn customs. She insisted that I should leave a bigger tip. I told her that the tip is a courtesy not something that is required. She told me to learn the customs and said "Bye". If you are not ready to swallow this and you are happy with leaving the tip demanded from you, this might be an OK place to go. Otherwise, I warmly suggest avoiding it. read more

My husband and I both just got 90 minute massages here for the first time. My massage was very good, and his was mediocre. The massages were very inexpensive and easy to schedule on short notice, and that counts for a lot. My exchange with the massage therapist around paying was odd, and makes me unsure if I will return. First off, she pressured me to use their ATM, saying over and over again that there's "no charge." I prefer to use my credit card, and she eventually let me do this by texting me a link to use for payment. It was fine, pretty tedious and not as simple as if they just had the option to swipe my card, but, fine. Then, after the charge went through, she got upset, pointed to the tip, and told me it wasn't enough. They have a sign at the counter with "suggested" tip amounts, and in error, I gave the suggested tip for a 60 min massage ($12), instead of for a 90 min massage ($18). I couldn't deal with the tedious credit card link again and didn't have cash, so told her that my husband would cover the $6 later. She was not happy. It was odd and very rude, and made me wonder if there is something shady going on with this business. I'll probably return if I'm desperate for something cheap on short notice, but, the feeling I was left with after this encounter was not one I would like to experience again. read more

I am quite happy with my experience at Massage Ultra. I didn't get a *great* massage but I did get a very good one at an amazing price. I left feeling nicely relaxed with less shoulder tension and with this pricing, I'll be back much more often than I would any other massage location. The facilities are basic but clean and comfortable. The massage rooms are down stairs, so be aware of that if you have any mobility problems. The rooms are not super silent, so you can hear some noise from the restroom and other facilities, but it does not seem any of the massage rooms are adjacent. This doesn't bother me one bit, but I know some people that like a more isolated environment. At this price, I can't imagine that the masseuse gets much of the $40/hr basic fee, so please, please tip well. They suggest $12/hour but I tipped $20. ($60 for an hour massage with tip is still a stellar price!) They don't take credit cards, but they have a fee-free ATM in the lobby. I'll be back at least monthly. EDIT: Spoke with management, they offered to refund the tip and promised to speak with the employee. Greatly appreciated their efforts to remedy the situation. So I gave them $27 and asked for $10 back cause I assumed that was easier. They pointed repeatedly at their sign saying the "recommended MA tip is 20%, i.e. $18" and I finally said fine, give me $9 back. I really wanted to like this place. The price is unbeatable and it was so easy to make an appointment online. They took my temperature when I entered and gave me hand sanitizer. I did feel safe and cared for. However, the massage was just kinda painful. She continued to rub hard on my bones, pull my hair (literally), and just beat on my back. Some parts were enjoyable, but overall it was just not an enjoyable experience. Based on the reviews I might have gotten the wrong therapist. I filled out the online form that asks which areas you'd like to focus on, and pressure preference. Even with the language barrier, Gwen got exactly what I was looking for and boy did she deliver ! It was a very good first experience with a foot massage. It was a little difficult communicating that I did not want any back work or leg work that would produce bruising due to a blood thinner which I did note on my paperwork. I also would have preferred a sitting in a chair for foot massage and not lay down due to back problems. This was my 1st time and I was getting off an airplane ride from SF Bay Area. Booking was very easy and paying by cash is the preferred method. However there is an ATM and it believe it says that they do not charge but you can also charge it on a credit card by calling them and they will charge you the extra fee though.
