Customer service could be improved. We are Owners and every year, we arrive to a Unit that is in need of many repairs so you spend days of your vacation getting their Unit habital. This trip, we had blinds that could not close in the master bathroom, a dishwasher that was not working, an air conditioner that needed Freon, the kitchen sink had a steady drip, the hall bathtub was clogged with grass, etc. It took us two full days of our vacation to finally get everything repaired and no return call from anyone in charge. And, you have to call Housekeeping or Maintenance but they will not coordinate, you have to coordinate the issues. This place is not recommended if you are looking for a place to relax. read more

Well. It's a time share. My wife bought it from someone before we got married. This was our first visit. Our villa is decent. Very dated, but nice. It's comfortable. We have a great view over one of the fairways. I love the two balcony's where we got to watch a family of deer roam around our back. Appliance work and are nice. The resort SEEMS to have nice things for family and kids. Most of them are not available this week, so I'm not 100% sure. We got water park passes only to find out that it's only open on our last day. We went to use the hot tub, which isn't a hot tub as advertised, it's a bit bath tub. Ie it doesn't have its own heater. As you fill up the giant tub it runs out of hot water a few inches before you get to the jets. So... you have a choice. Hot water or jets. I later read a laminated warning sheet explaining that the villa is the most luxurious if all the units with its built in "hot tube" and that there is only a 52 gallon hot water heater, so use it sparingly. What???! 52 gallon? That's like barely enough for a studio apartment. Then. The part I'm really giving this only 2 stars for... we woke up our first morning to a phone call. They lady says we are having our owners appreciation buffet lunch that they ONLY do once ever 6 months and wanted to invite us for feee. They said it was a thank you for being owned. I said, "ok we will be there". She said they needed a $20 deposit since they have to prepare food and people sometimes don't show up and it'll be refunded when we show up. There was no owner appreciation lunch. We got there and were ushered down stairs. We were not allowed to go into the dining room. We had to wait for someone to take us in. I'm realizing now, we just got screwed. Finally a sketchy man in a suit shows up and takes us into the dining room.... there is no food. Just a few other families with their very sleazy sales guy. He sits us down and gets our names and says, "I'll be right back". He's gone for like 10 minutes. At this point, I want out. We are already owners... what the hell are they trying to pull? My wife only bought this place to bail out a friend who bought in and couldn't afford it. The high pressure sales to upgrade and buy more ensued. I stopped the guy and said, "I will never make a deal with with people who lied to get me here. Deception is is not an acceptable sale technique. Give me my $20 back and we'll be on our way". The battle continues, but I ultimately got my $20 and left. These are incredibly sleazy people, which is a shame because the area is beautiful. read more

I would not come to this resort unless you have deep pockets. There is nothing to do unless you pay for it except two pools. The resort employees are reluctant to help or direct you to any thing here. When you check in they try to sign you up for a presentation. They give you a map which is useless. The unit I exchanged for had 2 hot plates, microwave, toaster oven, and electric frying pan to cook with. The plates and glassware are in cabinets 6 ft overhead. The toaster over and microwave is in a difficult position on a countertop that holds everything including the dish rack and sink. There is an outlet at each end of the countertop but the hot plate must sit at the edge of the counter to reach the outlet. I asked the front desk for a can opener since there was nothing to open cans. I was told it would take an hour. 4 hours later I was still waiting. The employees do not care about helping the guests or giving any service. The ski slope can be seen from an outlook at the resort. It is extremely small with just a few runs. When I was at the outlook a sales person was trying to sell a timeshare to a family. I have exchanged for 35 years and this is the worst resort I have visited to date. This resort is named correctly. Pronounced (Mass-a-nutten) or Mass of nothing. There are many better resorts with activates that are included free. Go where they want the guests to leave happy. This place just wants to sell people a timeshare. I see why the owners are willing to pay others to take their timeshare off their hands. read more

6/20/2021, 1 week stay, RCI trade, Woodstone, 2 bed, 2 bath, FULL kitchen Pros: Beautiful area! Gorgeous views of the countryside in the Shenandoah Valley. HUGE property! Easily the largest resort I've ever seen. From the Beautiful golf courses, horseback riding, mountain bike trails, rafting, kayaking, ski lift to the top of the mountain, multiple restaurants etc. Plenty to do on the resort itself and things to do in the area (water park, cavern exploring, wine tasting, hiking etc.) Plenty of shopping in the local area. Target, Walmart, Dicks, Kohls, whatever you need, its nearby. Our unit was recently renovated. New kitchen. It looked like the stove, utensils and pots/pans were never used. New furniture. Comfortable king size bed in the master. New comfortable pillows and bedding. New vinyl plank flooring in the kitchen, hall and bath. New doors,.lighting, fireplace and carpet. The dishwasher was older and a little loud. The refrigerator wasn't new, but it worked fine. The coffeemaker took a little time to learn, but it was new and made perfect coffee (we ground our beans at home and took it with us) We had to pick up some round coffee filters at the Dollar General. No bigee. Friendly, helpful and inviting staff. Salespeople were NOT pushy at all. I let them know right off the bat that we own 1 timeshare that is barely worth the yearly maintenance fees and the last thing we need is another one. Most areas, especially near the pools were very clean. Our unit was spotless. This resort didn't use many of my RCI points. It only used half the points of my home resort. Cons: This isn't really a con, but more of an advisory. All the extra activities, (horseback riding, golf, driving range, kids adventure park, zip lining, waterpark, go-karts, etc) are not cheap and the cost can add up quick. Nothing is free besides the 2 pools and fitness center. IMO there weren't enough pools for the number of units, but I understand this isn't Florida where you get 10 months of pool weather in a year. No bar or food offerings by the pool. They're really missing a great opportunity. IMO a resort isn't a resort unless you can get a frozen drink by the pool. The unit: Shared stackable washer/dryer with another unit. Luckily we didn't have an issue, but could have been a problem if the next unit had 8 people staying.. The wifi was free but barely adequate. We had to sign off/sign on several times a day. Not sure how these buildings are constructed, but the people walking upstairs sounded like a herd of elephants. No party, no running, I think the floors are just very loud. I've stayed at many many resorts. I've never heard anything this bad. The AC worked well in the kitchen, dining and living room, but the bedrooms got very warm at night. There were quite a number of sketchy people staying there. A few times, we had to walk past sketchy people gathered on the front porch returning to our room. No idea if they were staying there. One time, I felt like 2 young men were "sizing me up". Really? Overall, it was a good vacation, but I dont think we will hurry back here anytime soon. read more

Carpet was old and ragged in the halls, there was an unpleasant odor, the deck had nails sticking up, amenities were lacking. It's not worth the money. Just not what we thought it would be. We've stayed there 3 times now, always in a condo at Woodstone Meadows, and the condos are great - living/dining room, kitchen, huge bathroom with a big closet with a lot of storage, and the bedroom has a whirlpool/jacuzzi in it (which at first blush seems cheesy and a remnant of the past, but it's probably the single reason I'm not nearly as sore as I should have been after skiing, and the kids have a blast in it - it's like another activity, I swear). The kitchen is well stocked. Washers and dryers are free (awesome!). Start the ice maker when you get there if you will be wanting ice. In the past, the units/halls seemed a little dated, but it seems that they've invested recently, and it's looking a little fresher. INCLUDED: dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent, a sponge, trash bags, dishwashing soap, toilet paper and towel sets for the max number of occupants for that unit. BRING: paper towels, dryer sheets, extra laundry detergent/pods, skillet (I wasn't real impressed with what was there, the teflon was super scuffed), foil/saran wrap if you think you'll need it, and a few hand soaps. read more

One word, SCAM!!!!!!!!!! The restaurants out here are HORRIBLE! If you don't have kids to take to the overly expensive water park or if you don't play golf, skiing or into hike? Then there's NOTHING for you to do here. This place is all about trying to sell you into something, DO NOT listen to anyone here when you're checking in that offers you brunch for $20 deposit and getting it back after brunch with a selection between a $100 gift card or waterpark tickets, what it really is? A tour that they don't tell you about we learned that it was a tour from calling the front desk about if we could switch from the $100 gift card to the waterpark tickets which are an arm and a leg. This $20 deposit tour scam is basically a scheme to bait you into a time share "which my family member was already scammed into when she came out here last year" and if you have a timeshare they'll try to convince you to upgrade, thanks to another yelper for laying the info out about the scam, the food served at the buffet brunch was awful! There was an older lady working there with a hat on who was filling up the tea talking very rudely towards people in line as she was trying to get past, she was extremely nasty with the eye rolls and slick mouth. The water park had some fun to it for sure, no denying that, The fee for a locker is $30 that only locks and opens with their key. So again, it's all about getting money out of you, once you return the key you either pick to receive $10 back on your card or $15 towards the games they have there which doesn't serve to play enough. The condo situation was a disaster, rude neighbors underneath us literally used the washer and dryer from 8-pm up until the next day 2:30pm. They kept leaving clothes sitting for hours before they continuously used them for more and more loads, we tried knocking to ask them if we could use before we leave, of course they didn't answer. So we had to call front desk about it and they told us to use hotel 3 lol smh. If you're going to come here I wouldn't recommend no longer than 2 days, Their Time share agents will try to tell you that they're #4 in the states for best resorts and try to relate to you, but you'll see the disappointment in their faces once you decline their offers... And they'll keep coming and coming. There's so many other options in the states you could try out for a much better experience and save more money. read more

It was about 2 weeks until my birthday, and I still had no real plans for what I would be doing to celebrate. Thats when the phone rang, and I got the news that I had won a trip to Massanutten Resort. Which was the result of one of those forms that I had filled out at a local mall. They asked when was the soonest we could come, and it was right there that I decided to make it into my birthday trip. In anticipation for the trip I of course got on yelp, just to see what I could expect, because at some point I knew that they would try to sell me a time share. There were a lot of negative comments in a good portion of the reviews I read, and especially when the "tour" was mentioned. People said they were rude, and pushy, and treated their visitors like crap. There were complaints about security, and the rooms. Well I arrived on a saturday. It took maybe 10 minutes to check in, and the lady who helped us was very nice. Actually everyone we passed who worked there spoke (even though they didn't have to), and the ones we did ask for help were very professional/helpful. On the first day after the long drive, we pretty much lounged in the pool and headed out for dinner/drinks. The next morning we woke up around 7 and got ready for the "Tour" that we had to take as a condition of the trip. When we arrived there were drinks/bagels/donuts that were being served. We met with ur sales rep, and he informed us on what would be taking place. It's funny because I told my lady that we would probably end up getting the most crafty most veteran salesman they had, and guess what, We did! He was very personal in his approach, and referred everything he was doing to his family, and personal life. He spoke on how he came to be a salesmen, and informed us that he has been a owner for 26 years. They say that the "tour" takes 90 minutes, but we were with this guy for at least 4 hours. He really rode us around and showed us the whole resort, and explained what happened at every location, and explained how we could use them if we chose to become owner. he was very thorough, but at the same time he made it clear that we were under no obligation to buy anything. He just suggested we had an open mind about making a potential purchase, and he shared all the benefits of making the purchase that day. The whole "Tour" is basically a build up of them selling you the resort, and explaining all that comes with the purchase, and then they bring you back to the original meeting place and show you the numbers. We went into it with the attitude that we didnt and weren't going to buy anything regardless, but after hearing everything that he had to say, and seeing all the expansions that they're about to make to this already beautiful resort. we were regretful that were weren't in a position to make a purchase that day. After he made the offer, he walked off to give us time to discuss it (which we did). In the end it was a no go. There was no extra hoop jump, or rudeness. We left and collected our gift card and trip vouchers. We actually spoke the next day, and he was still as pleasant as he had been prior to us making a the decision not to buy, and at this point he had no reason to. I don't like to put peoples names in my reviews, but he was really good at his job, and very professional. After the "tour" we continued to have a pleasant trip, and all went well through the remainder of the weekend. I truly enjoyed this trip, and look forward to coming back. #SB read more

I purchased a promotional deal and called multiple times attempting to book a date to use it and continued to just get the same response of everything being booked, I called again and this time they told me my package was expired and couldn't be used anymore! When I had called multiple times beforehand the workers told me to call back in a few months KNOWING that it would be expired by then! When I had spoken with the manager about this, he then proceeded to lie to me saying they left me a voicemail and when I asked for the exact date so I could look through my voicemails because I know they didn't call, he refused to give me it and changed the topic. Hahahahaha I wouldn't take it if it was given to me. The standard room is basically a motel. Everything is old and outdated. The worst disappointment. The customer service is lacking and of course I mandatory tour is at 8am! Wtf?! I thought it was a romantic getaway and it was bullshit. Of course anyone you can speak with concerning your issues isn't available until tomorrow morning where you are basically forced to stay here. The TV is digitized and unwatchable. This is our 3rd time vacationing here, it been a while like 9 years since we were last here. And a lot hasn't changed. We are a family of 4 and vacationing with 20 more Family Members. Everything looks the same as I remembered it. We stayed in the Woodstone Meadows Condos. They have a nice layout and are spacious, but they need to be updated ASAP. Everything is outdated, the Popcorn Ceilings, old worn Furniture, outdated Kitchen and Bathroom. But it suited our needs and looks like they will be updating them soon, because I saw the Staff haling away old Furniture from the Condos across the Street from us. On the other hand they have lots of activities to keep your Family busy, such as a indoor/ outdoor Water Park, Swimming Pools, Miniature Golf, Go-Kart Racing, Arcades, Basketballs, Tennis Courts, Walking Trails, Zip Lining, Tubing, Horseback Riding, Rock Climbing, Pic Nic Areas and 2 on-site Golf Courses among other things. They're several Restaurants on the property that I haven't tried yet, but I heard the food wasn't that great. So we go outside of the Resort were there's plenty of places to eat. If you come in the Winter time they will have the Ski Slopes operating. Overall I'm having a good time and I highly recommend if you have Kids plenty to see and do. The Staff was friendly checking us in, but took away a Star because they need to update some Condos. read more

The stay in the hotel 5 was nice. Clean and the bed very comfortable. They really should tell people when they check in that you need to call for reservations for dinner and for most outings. The stable lady was very rude, sat and talked on her phone 15 minutes without acknowledging us. She said be back at 3 pm for that ride, it left at 3:46! Run by teenagers and very unorganized. The mega zip line sign was weight restricted for just Sunday and Monday. Scales attached to all registers and turning people away if you were over 200lb. Just for those two days. BS! Most activities shut down by 3 in the afternoon and the pools closed early also. Very poor management. They need to revamp their practices. Disappointed for sure. They were more interested in selling their memberships than pleasing their paying guests. read more

I am giving 5 stars to the wonderful staff that entertained us and kept us abreast of the situation with the snowtubing hill. Driving in from Maryland was not too bad even in 2 inches of snow, but was not expecting to find the parking lot and road way of the resort to be in somewhat shape. Check-in was ok, the staff was not much help or in the mood to answer any questions about activities. While riding up the road, the roads were very slippery and there were mounds of snow pushed out into the roadway from side roads making it hard to drive up the road. Once we got to our room, we found it to be very nice for our mini vow renewal getaway. The lighting was very low and hard to see in the dining and kitchen area. We unpacked and gave the room a look over. The fireplace is a very nice touch, and kept us warm. The toilet was hard to flush, but the hot tub was nice. We found in the closet everything we could need, shovel, vacuum, iron, ironing board, mop, bucket, etc. Called the concierge about the snowtubing since it apparently it said it was booked. We were told there were open spots. So we drove down 2 hours ahead so we could get the 12 o'clock slot. While waiting, we were told there was equipment failure to smooth out the hill. We were truly entertained while we wait. My husband and I had a awesome good time and the staff made our day. Checking out was a different story... Walked in and not one soul acknowledged us to even ask us if we were checking in or out. Until we asked someone at the desk what we needed to do to check out. She took our keys and that was that. Not sure if I would return, but for snowtubing yes! Maybe in the summer time there would be more things to do, since not much is open during the winter. read more

I stayed here for a Graduation for family member that went to JMU. We had two elderly folks in wheelchairs. The room was an older townhome that was a good size. We had a significant problem with the front desk checking in ? I had to keep circling getting in line to see when our unit was ready. We waited in line 90 minutes before one of the staff figured out there was another unit that would work and was available. Looking back at this experience I really do believe a manager should have stepped in sooner. I would get in line approach the desk say my name and there reply was your unit is not ready, then get back in-line. read more

First off, we were told that the presentation would take 90 minutes and no longer. The room we stayed in had a hot tub, but there was not enough hot water to fill it up even 15% of the way and that's no exaggeration and the gas fireplace did not work. I boiled water on the stove so that my girlfriend could take a hot bath, like we were in a third world country or something. Rhonda, who was very helpful, showed us around the property. 3 hours later we arrive back at the lodge and a sales person named Jeff who claims to be a career Marine sat down with us. I told him that we were told it would be 90 minutes and it has been 3 hours and I would like our gifts and to leave. Jeff stood up, got in in my face, yelled at me and said we were banned for life. Oh no, banned from a timeshare for life I could have easily pressed assault charges on Jeff as he was in my face and made me feel as if he was going to hurt me in some manner. Do yourself a favor and either don't do the time share presentation or know what you're getting into which is a 3 hour tour ending in a sales pitch where they try to make you feel bad about saying no. They're the ones who offered the gifts....... Well, I got the $200 visa gift card, 2 nights and 3 days at the resort and another 3 nights 4 stays at a other one of their resorts. We very well may have come back and been interested if Jefff didn't fly off the handle the way he did. This man is dangerous and needs to be removed from his position. Unbelievable. read more

This resort was the worse. This was my first time in the mountains and I won my stay at this resort by attending the southern women's show. I was so excited to go here to kick back and relax with my boyfriend. Of course there are obligations for everything so because I was staying free of cost I had to attend this 90 minute timeshare presentation. I had no issue doing this, I have gone on trips like this before. When we arrived after about a 2 hour drive at around 10pm everything was closed, we were on a mountain and there were about 10+ people checking in ahead of us. Check in wasn't bad, fairly smooth and the staff was very polite. We were assigned to one of the hotels, hotel 6 to be exact (you will understand how ironic this is at the end ). This resort has condos and hotels. The hotel was not exactly close to the area where we checked in so we had to drive up the mountain some more with a map in hand. We arrive to the hotel after about a 5-10min drive up. I walk in and it's absolutely gross. The decor is extremely dated, not the clean, very muggy and not very welcoming. If the goal was for me to sign up for a timeshare this hotel was not the best welcome. I cannot speak for the condo portion of the resort, I'm sure it's much much better. I toured one before leaving and it was gorgeous. But stay away from those hotels! If you are going on a promotional trip to this place BEWARE! My tour was great and the woman that gave it was so nice, until we declined to sign up for a timeshare. We said no and her facial expression instantly changed to . Then we had to consistently say no to the manager, and then another man. They were so pushy and then when I said no to one guy he told me that this wasn't for me and I should stay in a motel 6! Resort.... what resort? This is basically a glorified camp ground that offers skiing. Came here the day after Xmas for a 2 night stay. We stayed in a condo. First condo we went to... when we first walked in it was literally 40°. We turned on the heat, no heat was coming through and the fireplace didn't work. We did call the front desk which they transfer you to one person to the next and then the next and then the next and sometimes They hang up on you and then you have to call again and go through the whole process again x5. We did go in person back to the front desk to request a new room, which we did get. The room is beautiful it's newly renovated. Building your itinerary for your days stay... total nightmare. They have an app ... it sucks. It shows things on your itinerary but they're really not there. So when you go to your activity you were never on the list. I learned to book through the concierge... but you're lucky if you get them on the phone. You're lucky if you get anybody on the phone without getting transferred to the wrong department or you get Someone who doesn't know any information. The departments don't talk to each other and they don't work together. So when you have a question.. your shit out of luck. Basically this place is good for a one day ski trip. Go home after. It's $15 for fresh towels. Bring your own shit. Bring your skis/snowboard... bring everything... if you don't it's not worth it. It's pricey and they charge you for every little damn thing. They are lucky they have people coming here. I FOR SURE WONT BE BACK. Over priced for piss poor service. I've had WAY BETTER for WAY LESS. read more

We are the 2nd time at Massanutten, via RCI, and love it. We are staying at the Summit condos and they were probably recently renovated because they look very nice and clean. The only thing we don't like is the "partial kitchen". We strongly believe that for a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms, a "full kitchen" would have been the only option. read more

We came from Montgomery County Maryland for the day to go on the chairlift. It was a beautiful day and the first weekend the resort was open. We were so impressed with how clean the facilities were and Covid conscience they were. We are a very strict quarantine followers and are vigilant about only going to places we see as healthy. Massanutten and the restaurant has sanitizer everywhere and ALL the staff wore masks. Clearly a well managed resort. I have already referred my friends to you all. read more

I wish I had read some of the reviews before 1230AM the night before our check-out. There are kids, I'm assuming training for a marathon/hurdle race as they are running and jumping all over the place and unfortunately above us, and we hear everything. I agree with what other reviews are saying about paper thin walls and fairly pushy timeshare selling tactics, which they say is only a survey (a survey that takes two hours?, sure!). There is no way I'd ever buy a timeshare, much less one here. Unfortunately, you can't reach anyone at the front desk or security at 1230, so hopefully, you can fend for yourself or just deal with it because there's no one available at some point during the night. As others have mentioned, I wouldn't recommend this place to people looking for a quiet and relaxing place. We had family staying here, which is why we came, but I'd definitely try a different resort before ever coming back. On the bright side, the ski instructor we had James F. was very nice and helpful, and got us skiing and very confident with doing the activity. Pretty much everyone we dealt with was polite, but the resort really needs to be available during off hours as well and needs to figure out the sound issues. Need to add to the review and confirm what others wrote: The wifi at the resort is terrible!! We didn't get a great mobile signal, and Wi-Fi would've helped when we were in the rooms, but with the way everything was going, I was not surprised with how bad it was. read more

Visited the Massanutten Ski Resort on Valentine's/Presidents Day weekend. Most of the rental equipment was sold out. So I would recommend purchasing in advanced. Plan ahead, don't be like me (insert face palm emoji) I was pretty bummed that we weren't able to ski but snowboarding was super fun. Even though it was our first time we opted out of the lessons with an instructor. Again, don't be like me. Get the lessons..lol (see videos of me busting my bum because I didn't know how to stop properly) I wouldn't mind coming back on a less busy weekend. DON'T waist your time and money!!! I rented a one bedroom condo through Tripforth and the pictures on Expedia looked much better than what I found in person. There were big stains on the sofa, the 4 dinning chairs sits ripped, no stove, decks completely cover in years of dirt, the wood was cracked and had splinters, grill on the deck had mold, mold in the bathroom wall and doors, including the front door had gaps! You could see through the front door! I complained to the front desk and a very unfriendly and unhelpful receptionist told me she was sending someone to 'check' the dirt and clean the mold. I told her the decks needed to be powerwashed, the mold needed to be removed and not superficially clean, and the doors needed to be replaced. It would be nice if they had offer us to move into a decent unit but I realized we were stuck in that dump for the rest of our trip. They didn't show any interest in making their customers happy regardless if you were buying a timeshare or not. We decided it was not worth to stay in a place like that, so we left a day earlier. We never felt so happy leaving early during a vacation. It's OVERPRICED!! The grounds, however, were well maintained and 2 restaurants on site were very good: Campfire Grill and Base Camp. Virginia BBQ was overpriced and the food was not good. There are fun things to do with the kids but they aren't cheap. I also highly recommend Circle M Carriage ride, Shannon was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and gave us tips what to do and local restaurant options. She had very good costumer service skills, different than the people who work for the resort. The horses are gorgeous and sweet! Views are beautiful. Sharing feedback? The worst experience ever! We drove 5 hrs to check out the rooms via timeshare presentation. When we checked in they gave us a room in the ghetto area where the front door had a dent on the lock portion like someone tried to break in. Rooms were very dusty dirty and smelled like mold. We went back to front desk and asked for another room and they obliged gave us a villa but said there would be a charge of 50$ a night. We said ok depending on how clean the place was. We went to look at the villa and it was dirty too had bugs on the floor the fridge door handle was more dirty than dirt itself and the stove was falling apart too. The main lounge area had a glass door with a see thru sheer curtain so if you wanted privacy no can do. We decided to go back and cancel the whole stay which was a hassle but finally they caved in and let us go. My wife still is waiting for her 99$ deposit because we did show up for the presentation but due to the horrible conditions and unsafe environment we could not stay the night. Also we saw deers too which was cool but was not expecting to see them knocking on our doors begging for food. So please avoid this resort at all cost, Also go check their website and see if there's any photos of the rooms they will put you in. Nope! The reason why is because they know if you see how horrible they are you will probably cancel the whole visit immediately. read more

The condo was so dated. There were stains on the couch, holes in the carpet, and the toilet never wanted to flush. I guess that they were aware of the issue because there was a plunger handy. The tub was in the room with two beds, which seemed weird. The handle for the tub was loose. There isn't any supplies, such as soap or shampoo, which would have been good to know. The General store staff is beyond unhelpful. An employee dropped a case of peanut butter containers on my foot. read more

This was one of my favorite places to visit. I am so sad to say I will not return. We go there with our timeshare every year. I took my children for the weekend and stayed at the summit to begin and my oldest daughter was eaten up with bed bugs. They did move us to another unit where there were more bugs, not sure if they were bed bugs. I called back and they moved us down to Woodstone where we normally stay and love. I had all laundry done and bagged up an kept on the deck, took nothing inside. That night we were going to bed, and there was the same bug in the bed. We packed up at midnight and drove home. The worse vacation experience I have ever had. My daughter was severely allergic to the bed bugs. So sad read more

It's all about expectations. My expectation is that when a property promotes its self as a "resort" I feel like I am going to have a better than expected level of services.....NOT at Massanutten. I purchased a weeks stay and was expected to pay $7 / night for house cleaning, it seemed like a fair rate, except the hotel does NOT do house cleaning, wait what??? Oh it gets better. When I called down for when I could expect daily clean towels I was told, and I asked twice how do I get clean towels I was told "wash them yourself".......really? The property is beautiful from the moment you enter. Checking in was a little strange considering the property is so big, so finding where you are supposed to go was confusing at first. Driving up to our room was interesting, once again as we were unsure of where to go and signage was a little lacking. Eventually finding where we were to be, we got settled in. The room was nothing super impressive. It was clean and comfortable. We were going to try tubing or something, but there was absolutely no snow the weekend we decided to go, so that was a bust. So, we took advantage of the indoor water park on site. Considering what I just mentioned, the water park was packed. Almost overpacked. Its not huge but there is definitely attractions for all ages. The next morning we checked out the general store on the property and purchased some small souvenirs. We also went up to the lookout spot to see the Blue Ridge Mountains, and after waiting for some pesky fog to clear out, actually got some decent photos. All in all, it was a nice visit, just a few things that could be spruced up about the place. read more

Disappointing. Seems like the money is running out. Condo had no oven, just a microwave and a toaster oven, even though there were pots and pans and cooking utensils. Burned out lightbulbs. A little dusty. The whole resort looks to have seen better days, but it's a very pretty spot, and convenient for JMU visits. Not much for local dining--2 or 3 decent places in the area. Still beats a Sleep Inn for $500/night though. read more

I was at the result on February 4, 2022 for a week. I signed up on Friday for a presentation. The sales person said they would put a $20 hold on my card that would only be charged if I did not show on Monday for the presentation. Saturday, I decided I did not want to do it. I called and the person I spoke to said he would make the change and not charge my card. When I did my banking I saw there was a $20 charge. i called numerous times trying to reach the front office. Their system would not let me get pass the first automated announcement. I will never ever participate in their presentations. read more

My first visit to Massanutten Resort was thanks to completing a contest entry form at the Virginia State Fair. The call from the representative was completely out of the blue and I usually don't answer unknown numbera...but I took a chance this time. For just $75 (at the time of the call; refunded at visit) I would have the "pleasure" of experiencing the resort; it was a deal I couldn't resist. Since the resort is only 1.7 hours from where I live, I scheduled my visit for approximately 3 weeks after the phone call. Fast forward three weeks, my lady and me make the visit to the mountain on a Thursday afternoon. The drive up I-64 and Rte 33 aren't bad at all; we just popped on the cruise control and were there in no time. The directions took us right to the North Lobby for check in (we got there just after 6pm). The check in area was very calm and we were helped almost immediately. The staff was very polite and we were checked in after about 10 minutes. (FYI remember your license plate number, you'll need it.) The timeshare presentation was scheduled for 8 am Friday (next day). Arrival was around dinner time, so our first stop was the concierge desk to see what the options were. An important takeaway was that restaurants close early up there (around 8pm). We decided on Thunderbird Cafe and were not disappointed. The cafe was only 1.5 miles outside of the Massanutten gate. After eating, we headed back up to the resort to our hotel room (hotel 4, rm 1439). The room was easy enough to find (ya just have to follow the entry road up past the slope entrance). The room was definitely motel 6 quality...except the front door wasn't exposed to the elements. Our room smelled, the comforter had something on it (dust or lint), and the sink was stained. The tub also had some slow drainage. Could have been better (but it's a business...i get it). The sleep wasnt too bad, so we were decently rested for the next morning's sales presentation. On Friday we packed our bags and headed to the South Lobby to check in for our presentation. Around 8 am our Salesman, Matt, met us in the South Lobby and we headed to get our continental breakfast. No thrills during the presentation. Same old spiel. The condos (timeshares) were definitely much nicer than the Hotel rooms...but they had their flaws as well (i.e. damaged furniture, worn carpet, etc.). We didn't buy, but the offer was very tempting (mainly for the RCI amenities). I hope the condo we stay in for our "gift" visit is better than our hotel room. Place has much potential, but needs some updates. read more

I can't recommend Massanutten Resort for families. There were a couple highlights of our week vacation at the resort, but overall we were left disappointed. The best thing at the resort for families is the water park. There are very few included activities, with a constant theme of being upcharged or turned away due to lacking certain membership levels. On top of that, everything is so spread out and the resort food was so mediocre that we spent a lot of time driving around to distant pools or off-resort activities/restaurants. If you're looking for a trip where you can just show up and relax, this isn't it. If you're an avid golfer or mountain sport person, check out other peoples' reviews, because we are neither of those things which may be more applicable to this resort. Some other topics of concern: (1) every member of our party had to make multiple trips to the main office for key card replacements, as there is clearly something wrong with their security system. (2) We were guests of "owners", who were very kind to host us, but I can't believe how much they told us they pay in yearly fees for an experience where you're constantly paying out of pocket for activities. (3) Everything is quite dated, even large parts of the overall nice water park. (4) The local McGaheysville/Harrisonburg area seems to be in decline, with many restaurants and activities closed. read more

This pet friendly resort needs to exterminate regularly. My unit had fleas biting me in the bed!! It was awful. We moved to another unit, but it was smaller. When you stay there you don't get what you own. They just put you where ever. It's like paying monthly for a house and staying in an unclean apartment. I am still itching from this experience. I have been a timeshare owner there for years. The accommodations were very disappointing. read more
