Over the last two months or so I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with my 6 year old Poodle Terrier mix. It started with a stroke/seizure episode and it was all pretty scary. I was calling around from San Mateo to Westborough trying to get quotes before booking an appointment and inquiring about what kinds of tests and treatments would possibly be needed for Boba's condition. Masson was the only place that I felt was genuinely there to help you without digging a hole into your pocket. They were the only place that could give me a rough dollar amount. And I completely understand quotes can be inaccurate because you can't diagnose over the phone. Jasmine was the first staff I spoke to there, she was warm, kind and knowledgeable. She was the initial reason I chose to book with Masson. And I have found so many more reasons to stay. Dr. Tais is patient and truly cares about your pet. Our appointments didn't feel rushed, she took the time to hear me out with what happened to Boba and answered questions and explained things thoroughly to me. Treatments and quotes were explained upfront and I didn't feel like she was trying to push any unnecessary tests or treatments. Yesterday I had called in with some follow up questions for Dr. Tais, not sure who I spoke to on the phone, but she was also amazing. Took great notes and this morning I received a call from Brook, answering my questions from the previous day. I feel so grateful to have found such a wonderful place. It's stressful when your fur baby is sick but everyone we've come across has been exceptional. read more

Very nice staff. Super friendly and attentive. Like most vet visits, just be clear about what you are there for and if you have financial limits. Yes, the health of our pets is of the utmost importance, but not all of us can dump $100s or $1000s of dollars on preventative care at the drop of a hat. So be clear about the treatment your pet needs, and proactively distinguish what treatments are critical verses precautionary. Overall, they'll take good care of you. read more

This is the place to go when you want your pets to be looked after very well. Dr. Tais and her staff look after your fur babies with a loving and compassionate touch. When my bernedoodle Balty Blue had a foxtail stuck in his paw, Dr. Tais and her staff was with us every step of the way until he was healed even when a stubborn mama like me forgot to put his cone all the time. They always patiently rebandaged his paw when he would pull it out. All the veterinary assistants were so good with dealing with the pets. Leila always says such positive things to all the pet parents when they would come in. They were always accommodating when I would call to make appointments and grant the time and days that were convenient for me. I was even able to make appointments for the dogs of my relatives when other vets would not grant appointments due to wait list and not accepting new patients. The front office staff are always pleasant and very friendly unlike other vets I have been to who can't wait to get you out of their way. Staff here has always been so kind and they seem to know all the pets that come in. Masson feels like family and when we come we always feel welcome and taken care off. My impression from reading other reviews: Reviews doesn't seem as high for new doctor Dr. KC compared to the previous doctor Dr. C. First time here today. Thanks for seeing my pet the same day of! I was very appreciative the receptionist was understanding and emphatetic about my urgency. The front desk was organized. I emailed paperwork and they processed it so quickly. I couldn't really tell what the interactions were between vet and my pet since people are not inside the medical rooms Why not 5 stars? I felt like they didn't listen to my concerns to make me feel more confident about the diagnosis. They didn't tell me what possibilities they eliminated and why. I felt like they were just trying to get me out of the office asap. I'm not even sure if I spoke to the vet or a vet tech. There was no introduction who was the doctor. They opened a prescription for my pet but forgot to sign the bottom. The pharmacy had to call to confirm, which just added another unneccesary complication.. Would come back here for a second opinion in the future but I'm still shopping around for a primary vet. read more

It was hard finding a new Veterinarian after our previous vet clinic closed. We tried a few, but none really stuck until we met Dr. Tais at Masson. She was personable and took her time getting to know each of my pups. The office staff, Sarah, Jennifer and Jasmine are also a very big reason we chose to stay at Masson, they're all super detailed and knowledgeable. It is so hard to find a Veterinarian that you and your pups like and it's even harder finding a great office team, but at Masson you get both! I am so so happy I found them. read more

I tried calling this place multiple times in the past 2 weeks off days and diff times and nobody answered. I wanted to find a veterinarian for my puppy and it was like the place closed for something. There wasn't even a voicemail or a message saying to call back or they are busy with other calls. Our geographic area is underserved by veterinary practitioners and we go to this particular practice out of location convenience. We are usually able to get an appointment within a reasonable timeframe although there have been a few times where it felt like we were cutting it close with urgent situations. One thing this practice has going for it is the quality of the vet techs - they are all so friendly and helpful. What really alarms me is the quality of care provided by the primary veterinarians. We've had some serious issues with one of our dogs. My dog's pain and my reporting of the problem were brushed off until my dog's condition worsened and I requested special diagnostic tests. The only reason I knew to ask was because I have experience in healthcare and worked in a vet clinic during college. I'm not confident most people would have known what to ask for. As a result, my dog's treatment and care were delayed, unnecessary and unsuitable prescriptions were recommended, redundant x-rays were taken (at about $600 per x-ray), the severity of the issue was dismissed, and there was no adequate follow-up for long-term care. I cannot underscore how enraging it was to have the vet tell me there was no problem and that my dog was overly sensitive because of the breed. The amount of time I have spent figuring out a complex veterinary issue on my own has been very stressful while watching my dog suffer; this would be otherwise needless if I had been listened to and taken seriously. Additionally, I find it extremely odd that owners and patients are not escorted together to treatment rooms. I've never supported a veterinary practice where pets disappear to the back for assessment and it's concerning to hear the yelping and crying from the front without knowing what is happening. It would be more understandable if it was possible to see what was happening during patient assessment and evaluation. On a final note, be prepared for a very chaotic pick up and checkout process. There is often a long wait time that could last 15-20 minutes until someone notices you are there, and up to an hour to collect your pet and medications to depart. I've also found that they have no centralized management system so they are unlikely to follow up on an issue unless it's about a surgery. Know that I rarely take the time to leave a less than stellar review. We do not have many choices when it comes to veterinary clinics in this area and I cannot say that you'll find a better or more convenient one. I leave this review so other pet owners will do everything they can to prepare before visits, educate themselves, and plan to advocate for their pets when emergencies arise. read more

She's seen him through Parvo virus, manage, broken nails, cracked tooth and overall general maintenance. STAY AWAY!!!! Deplorable and unethical! I work in animal rescue and I have taken many cats here for dentals and spay/neuters in the past and the work was done well. Apparently the clinic is under new management and run by a woman named Dr. Tais who has zero moral compass and honestly I will be reporting her to the Vet Board. I took my beloved cat here for a dental and Dr. Tais had a senior blood panel run (which is standard practice to make sure the animal is healthy enough to go under anesthesia)... my cat's bloodwork indicated that she was in Kidney Failure and instead of calling me to discuss the options and what this meant for my cat - Dr. Tais chose not to disclose this information or make a call and proceeded with a full dental and removal of most of my cat's teeth. When I came to pick up my cat I was then told she was in kidney failure and that I needed to give her Sub-Q fluid treatments daily. My cat did not recover and I had to take her to be euthanized at my regular vet 1 week later. My cat suffered tremendously the last week of her life ... she never should have been put through such trauma and pain. Dr. Tais knew what her bloodwork revealed and that it was unethical, she actually admited this to me in person. Instead, I should have been treating my kitty for what was likely acute kidney failure. As mentioned above, I work with animals for a living and I have met and dealt with many veterinarians, most of which are wonderful. Dr. Tais is someone who clearly wants your money and puts this above the well-being of the animals. I will now live with this extreme guilt and regret that I ever took my beloved furry family member here. I am broken. read more

Patient and amazing staff who go above and beyond! I found Masson after getting quoted the most ridiculous price in SF and being told we would have to wait a month for a necessary surgery for my dog. Not only did they give a much fairer price, the team was much more transparent on what I was going to get charged for and able to take him in immediately. They are responsive to both email and phone inquiries, and when my dog's oncologist was slow to reply about refilling his prescription, Masson jumped on it. Even though the office was closed, it was quickly arranged to have someone come in to rush fill the prescription and make sure my dog had his required meds. I'm so happy I found this great care team to support my dog through a difficult diagnosis. read more

I was a little hesitant since I read that this hospital had a new doc and there were mixed reviews, but our first vet visit went great! Although the building is a little older from the outside, the front desk and staff were extremely kind, informative, and super helpful as I'm still a first time puppy owner. Also, there were good safety measures in place since we're still in the midst of COVID (only 1 person in the room with the animal and everyone wore masks/social distanced in the waiting room). Dr. KC is extremely knowledgable in this field and she was efficient with her time as well. I wouldn't say that she 'rushed' anything. Instead, I believe she knows her domain very well and can answer questions without hesitation. She reassured us on so many areas during the initial visit and walked us through all the shots-cycle and what to be cautious of with our 9-week old sheepadoodle. While I was in the waiting room, I got to converse with other long-term clients and everyone seemed really happy with the service from Dr. KC and her team. I would like to start off by saying that the vet techs that work here are great and I'm sure they're trying their best, however it is frustrating when I schedule an appointment for my dog only for the doctor to not show up. I came in for an appointment at 9:15 and was told by another customer that the doctor was not in (and this was the second time it happened to them) so my dog would not be able to get his exam done. I'm confused as to why they would schedule exams and the doctor doesn't even decide to show up- frankly it's a waste of time. It seems like this is a pattern so I will be finding another vet. I took my dog in today because this vet stopped approving her skin allergy medication because they said they wanted to do a blood test. I came in with my dog today and paid over $600. I paid for a check up in addition to many other things and was told the vet was too busy to speak with me (even though I was the only customer at the end of my visit). I've never been to a vet where I wasn't allowed to see the vet. When I paid, I requested to have the blood test results sent to me. The receptionist looked uneasy and then later met me at my car to tell me my dog needed to go back in because they never did a blood test although I paid for one. I feel that I was taken advantage of. The support staff was friendly and kind but that can't make up for a vet who refuses to speak with paying customers and their sick pets. I would never badmouth a business in trying times like these. I'm sharing because this experience was way out of the norm and people really should find a vet elsewhere. read more

They started out great, always caring for feral cats that I brought in but my very last experience will last a lifetime. I brought in my very sick dog and the doctor ran tests. They came back very bad so she put him on antibiotics and said to come back everyday for fluids. She proceeded to say if he doesn't improve we should do an ultrasound and follow up blood work. My baby was not getting better. I begged to speak to a doctor but the techs said she had a family emergency. Everyday I brought him in and there was no doctor for over a week or longer. Could the techs not take vitals to see he was declining? He was turning yellow but no one could see that? My dog was urgent and she should've taken care of her critical patients with another doctor or at least calling her critical patients back! Well I brought him to Burlingame vet and they immediately told me to take him to Sage because he was jaundice. He was dying! Sage did everything in their power to save him but they could not. One week in the hospital fighting for his life, the worst week of my life! My angel was 6 years old! We are absolutely destroyed, devastated, and awful crippling pain from the grief will not go away. These are mixed reviews The people at the front desk were decent Francisco was very caring and helpful. Now to the Good Doctor! I guess she's the main vet there now but it was a mixed bag. Most vets let you go in the back with your pet she does not! Did not seem to warm and caring almost indifferent! Excellent in her knowledge but poor on her precence and people skills does not give you a good feeling! She helped my cat with a mouth infection (I was pleased with the results) but I thought charged to much for the blood work. Average price is$100-$175 (checked online)she charged me $225.00!! Follow up visit one week later: was quoted 6-8 hundred for the dental work last week I'm a senior citizen on a fixed income! Then she throws this in your cat needs a tooth extracted that will take an hour. I retort isn't that part of the total? I also responded your charging me 3-4 hundred dollars an hour! For something that should be part of the service!(I spouted this in front of 3 or. 4 customers and caught her off guard) she offered to total it up and I waited as she went to a back room. That was the Last I saw of her! She emailed the total to one of her subordinates! and he conta'cted me. No goodbyes or thank yous. As stated her people skills are impersonal and weak! A final experience: another customer was waiting for a total while sitting down in a crowded room. He does not go over to her but shouts across the room in a unprofessional manner " the total will be$1237 as the client looked embarrassed and shocked by the lack of class!! I brought my dog Walter here right after adopting him for a check up and he immediately loved Dr. KC! Walter has had his fair share of issues especially while getting to know him, his biggest one was his love to eat garbage. He ended up getting really sick during off hours so i took him to an emergency vet and they had no idea and diagnosed him with "tummy troubles", i brought him to Dr KC first thing Monday and she worked tirelessly to get Walter better. Walter ended up having a severe bowel obstruction that Dr KC did immediate surgery and the next day Walter was almost 100% back to normal! During this process of trying to get Walter better, Dr KC and the whole team were extremely passionate, caring and patient. Dr KC not only looks at the physical health of animals but takes the mental aspect into consideration as well. If they took care of humans Dr. KC would be my doctor as well. read more

We are longtime clients of Masson Vet, having been seen by Dr. Conkling and now Dr. KC. We have been very happy with the care, consideration, and responsiveness of Dr. KC in her treatment of our 8 1/2 year old yellow lab. In recent weeks, our lab experienced a traumatic event that led us to North Peninsula veterinary emergency clinic after hours. Throughout the process we were in constant contact with Dr. K C requesting and getting her insight, advice and recommendations on how to move forward. She contacted us after hours and even provided us a way to contact her at any time. We can't express enough how compassionate she has been during this very trying time. When we contact the office and speak with the front desk, they are quick to recognize us, and make our needs a top priority. We would highly recommend Masson Vet and Dr. K C for anyone who has a fur baby that needs care. Reading some of the other reviews posted, I'd like to note that since Covid struck, pet owners are usually not allowed in the room during the exam. This is the same protocol we've experienced at North Peninsula ER and other vet specialists. Prior to Covid, we always went in with our dog. Maybe when the pandemic is behind us, things will go back to the way they were. In the meantime, I commend Masson Vet for taking the necessary precautions. read more

Do not come here. I brought my 6 month old puppy in for a rash he had been experiencing for no longer than 3 weeks. I honestly didn't think much of this rash because his litter mate had the same rash when we first got them and we were able to heal it on our own. Unfortunately we weren't able to heal his rash at home, so we came here bc of the great reviews. My error was not realizing the great reviews were for the previous vet, and not the current one. We weren't allowed in the back with our dog, so my daughter and I waited in the waiting room. The front desk staff was friendly, no complaints about them. They were warm and sweet with my puppy. The vet came out and aggressively asked me how long this was going on for, and why I didn't bring him in sooner. She spent no more than 3 minutes with us. She didn't bother to try and diagnose him either. Instead, she shamed me rather loudly in the waiting room in front of others, and told me which medication she was going to give him. That's it. Nearly $400 to literally just ask how long it had gone on for and why I didn't bring him in sooner. I left the office unsure of what could be causing his rash. The vet was cold, and incredibly unhelpful. Save yourself the money. Do not come here. read more

I brought my cats to Masson Vet for general body check since last year. And I did recommend this place to my friends. The reason that keeps me here is because their price is reasonable for vet( compare to the other hospitals I went). One of my cat has asthma, I have noticed that the medication would cause kidney problems in longterm. But luckily the medication works and I don't need to see my cat suffer through coughing. I started taking my cat Lulu here a few months ago when she fell ill unexpectedly. She was seen, accessed and diagnosed with Kidney issues. Dr. Kiran Chaudhary and her staff there are friendly, polite and empathetic to your needs. I was lucky so far Lulu rebounded with Dr. Kiran's treatment advice and guidance.
