Elite shoe buying experience! I felt like I needed to have a glass of champagne when I was here! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a laid back but attentive salesmen who genuinely cared why I was there. There was nothing eager or badgering about this experience; clearly different from any other shoe salesmen looking for a commission and to hit the sales goal. I never touched the shoe! He removed my current sandal, measured my feet, retrieved the new shoes, PUT THEM ON ME, and then once I chose the right pair he put the old shoes in the box and asked if I wanted to wear the new shoes out of the store. They are my shoe store ever since; they are that good. There are career sales people there. Folks I remember from when I happened into the store when it was on Liberty Street. Who can make a living selling shoes? Somebody working for an organization that is well-managed, fair, creative, flexible and caring about both customers and employees. Mast Shoes must be all of those. Company values run deep. I've noticed many ways they quietly assist and respect one another, for example, walking by and picking up the paper wrappings and cardboard shoe shapers that accumulate around the shoe fitting bench and rotating re-shelving duties. A customer may walk in and browse as long as they wish, but when I decide I want help, there is a greeter system that assigns somebody to me who will stay with me as long as I require. I'm quite a deliberator and I have picky feet. I have never felt anything but patience from staff. When I'm acting friendly, they'll engage. If I'm turtling, they respect that, schlepping and fitting shoes with no need to chat. This place feels safe, competent and fair. And they sell great shoes! I absolutely loved my experience at Mast Shoes! Christa greeted me and then helped me find the perfect shoes for the problems my feet were having. She was so knowledgeable and helpful. She was also very patient in listening to my issues and desires. I was contemplating going to The Good Feet Store or Foot Solutions in Sylvania, Oh. As I did my research, I found that people weren't very happy with their insoles. When looking for reviews, I found an article comparing the insoles from Foot Solutions to Power Step insoles, stating that there were comparable for a lot less money. I hate shopping for shoes. I hate shopping for shoes with my son even more. But I love my son, and I want him to have good shoes. When he was small, we would go to kid shoe stores, and they were great. Why? Because the kid shoe stores employed experts, had quality products, and made the process a pleasure. Once he aged out of their inventory, the shoe wars began. Today, thanks to Yelp, we discovered Mast Shoes. It's an incredible place. Seriously, I've never ever heard of a shoe store with a host stand. But that's what Mast has right inside the door. Someone to greet you when you walk in, thank you when you leave, and more importantly introduce you to an expert who will take care of your shoe buying needs. Can the shoes get expensive? You bet. When our clerk came back with a few boxes of shoes that included a pair of sneakers close to $200 I felt myself getting a case of the vapors. But when I mentioned he could hit a growth spurt any day, and we were looking for something more modestly priced, she came back with some more reasonable options. They included a pair of Ecco's that were marked down to $90, which we bought on the spot. In the end, he tried on just three pairs of shoes, and walked out with something he loved. He was thrilled that the whole thing was over quickly. I loved that he now has a pair of handsome, well made shoes that fit well. And more importantly, we were able to get through a potentially painful shopping experience without any pain at all. Thank you Mast Shoes! This place is a gem. My parents have been shopping here for years and the staff is truly caring. I live in Los Angeles but stopped in to get some sandals today. William measured me and offered great suggestions, and I bought a pair that fit well and will be great for casual walking needs. He chatted with my mom who was with me, and asked after my dad. Sometime in my late 20s my shoe choices went completely sensible. Pretty much all flats, all the time. A little depressing but not as depressing as the blisters and bunions those heels were inflicting. Yes. Good arch support. Cushiony soles. I'm in. The problem is that comfy shoes aren't the cutest. A sparkly pair of 3inch Jimmy Choos sure are flashy and sexy. Orthotics? Not so much. The good news is Mast Shoes hooks you up with the best of both worlds. Well, as close as you can get. They're not sexy but they can be stylish, carrying brands like Naot, Dansk, Clarks, etc. Or sneakers like New Balance. Yes! I can be sensible and look good! But these aren't just great for the every day person. They also carry specialized shoes and orthotics for people with foot injuries or joint damage. Last year my mom shattered her heel and needed surgery to put it all back together. When she graduated back to regular shoes after casts and boots her doctor recommended picking up some new kicks at Mast. They are pricey but these shoes are built to last. Sadly, Mast Shoes is just out of my price range. I would like to be able to spend more than $100 on shoes that were perfectly built for ergonomic wear, but I can't. I can tell they are really well made with good quality materials, and they emphasize shoes that are good to your feet as well as looking good. But even the shoes on the sale rack run to $50 and $60. If you're willing to shell out that kind of money, then Mast would be a good choice. If you can't or won't, you'll want to stick with discount outlets like Payless and DSW. read more

Probably the best customer service I've received while shopping in a long time. You are immediately greeted and personally consulted and served by an employee. They have plenty on staff so that everyone can have personalized attention. The employees know their products well enough to give recommendations. Their selection is more outdoor/all-weather with brands like merrel, earth origins, brooks, new balance, etc. And price points are what you would expect for full priced shoes of that brand. Mast's staff are pro's when it comes to comfort, weird foot issues and foot size discrepancy. The staff is extremely educated and the customer service is great. Yeah, the average price of shoes there is probably around $90, but anybody who buys high quality shoes knows to expect that price tag! I bought some shoes that had a stitching/seam issue that arose around the 3rd day I wore them. I brought them back with my receipt and had absolutely no return issues, the clerk was quite gracious about it and replaced them. I have not any issues with the second pair. I found the staff at Mast to be patient and really know what they were talking about, which I find rare at shoe stores. They have great brands, although it is pricey. If my feet aren't happy, I'm not happy. Mast's sells shoes to keep my feet happy. The salespeople really know feet, and they really know their stock. They take careful measurements and really listen to help you find what you want. They have always been completely patient with me, even on those days when nothing fit right and they brought out shoe after shoe and I finally figured out that it was probably my mood, and not the shoes, and then walked out without buying anything. Mast shoes is a venerable A2 institution since...well, at least 50 years? Owners are routinely out on the floor, and you'll get knowledgeable, awesome customer service every time. They carry cute-yet-comfortable shoes for a variety of foot types. I have extremely hard-to-fit feet: size 7, D-width, high arch, and an unusually high instep AND leg neuropathy! :O) As I can't wear bunny slippers all day, I have to find shoes that fit and look decent. Mast usually has an assortment of shoes that fit, so I am not stuck having to buy the ONLY pair in the store in my size - what a treat!
