Advent has been an excellent company to work with. We have had them out here both for a routine check of our AC unit and also to fix some broken ducts under the house. They were always very professional and communicated well before my appointment with a call 1 hour before arrival and also a text message with a picture of the technician. I would highly recommend you give them a call if you have anything AC or furnace related. Advent put in a piece of equipment that almost burnt my house down. When I confronted them, they said they would turn over to their insurance. The insurance company said advent wasn't covered at the time that my house caught on fire. I reached out to advent several times, but got the run around and they never did anything to help me out. crazy thing is that they put that same piece of equipment on so many homes. I have had an annual service contract with Advent Air Conditioning for 10+ years. The service over the last two years has declined immensely. I had consistent and reliable service for many years, with the same technicians coming out for each service call. Now, it is hit or miss whether I get a qualified technician coming out. Most of the technicians are new and don't seem to know or care what they are doing. I like to book appointments months ahead of schedule to secure the time and date I want. Last time I called for an appointment, I was told I can't book out more than 6 weeks. I also requested the first appointment time, but my appointment was then moved to the last appointment time, without notifying me. I have called the office multiple times to convey my concerns and no one has even followed up to acknowledge or address my issues. Customer service is non-existent. (EDIT) Replying back to owner: I don't have 3 systems - If you would perform proper due diligence and check your records, I have 2 systems. The two systems are in two separate & detached units and the one that is experiencing issues is in a separate detached suite where the tenant resides. My units were installed and still under their 10 year P&L warranty with Advent Air. I also regularly have maintenance performed on my units with Advent Air as a Preferred Member. I made a call yesterday to request a diagnostic as one of the units was experiencing issues and was told someone would come today. I had called again today to confirm the ETA and was told I was given false information by a "third-party" and that the earliest slot was out 1 week. The only way I'm able to have someone come out today is to pay $160 for after-hour services after having been told someone would be here today. I had told my tenant that someone would come take a look at the unit today so I'll have to eat the additional costs to have the unit diagnosed after-hours since I'd still like to keep my word, when Advent Air failed to keep theirs. read more

Upstairs unit went out, called and requested service only date available was almost 2 weeks out. I have a maintenance contract and there was not any consideration given. Very difficult communicating with the company, no one answers it goes to an answering service that does not always pickup, when they do a message is taken but not one message was responded to by the company. Having to call repeatedly to get the company is unacceptable and what good is a maintenance contract if you cannot get timely service. My emails were also not responded to. I have used them for decades and have been pleased whatever changes were implemented recently to automate the company is a failure. I ended up having the issue repaired by someone else that responded and repaired quickly. read more

I had them come back to take a look. a) they didn't fix it and claimed no responsibility b) charged me $80 for coming back even though they didn't tell me they were going to c) harassed me for payment. Cris McCown from Advent Air Conditioning did a great job from the very beginning through the final repair of the my damaged and broken ductwork. He was super professional, very helpful and showed up when they said he would, according to our arrangement. The repair required Cris to crawl on his hands and knees about 25 feet back into the far corner of the attic at about 140 degrees, several times in order to carry repair materials and equipment. I wrote a review on Google in a more timely fashion but neglected to put something on Yelp. Now that it's AC season and lots of people are experiencing issues and looking at AC repair/replacement I thought I should share our experience. We could not be happier with Advent Air. We replaced our 20 year old unit two summers ago. It went out in the middle of what was a heat wave even for Texas - and Advent was quick, reliable and so accommodating. Given the weather and the demand, it was going to take them 7 days to get to us - but they lent us window units during that time so we could keep a portion of the house cool! When they did do the install, they were on time, professional, and had a reasonable cost (not cheap - but replacing and AC unit never is!). We did have a problem with a capacitor after the install and they came out at 10 pm one night to replace it at no cost. It's been two years now and we're still very happy with having chosen Advent Air. And our power bills have been lower than with our old unit too - so that's a big plus! read more

To date I've spent $2,000 only to be told I need a whole new system. Now that they know I bought one from another company noone at the company will respond to me. Their employees are taking advantage of summer / overtime rates and I was given bad information and was charged for services not even rendered. When I sent the pics from the new AC company I hired that the coils were never cleaned to Terry, the service manager, he just laughed and sent me a pic of them being washed. His pic was during the day with no identifying features (it could've been any ac unit) and the work was done in the middle of the night so it wasn't a pic of my ac. No matter what they won't make good on the terrible advice I got to spend $1800 on outdated freon that leaked right back out. They changed their story on the invoice after the fact and said they advised me to get a new system. Beware! Probably depends on which tech you get but management won't make anything right even if their techs lie or steal or leave a half drank beer in the attic. read more

After a month of back and forth, Matt and Mark come and supposedly pinpoint the issue. They find that the thermostat is a little bit off and the furnace shutdowns only because the temperature of return air has already reach 80C. I guess we will see how it runs in winter. read more

Advent replaced a coil on a Trane Air Conditioner they installed in our new home. The unit was just over two years old so the coil was under warranty. Advent charged me over $1,355 to replace the under warranty coil. The would not provide an itemized invoice so my assumption was that it was all labor. The breakdown on charges was $200 to find the warranty problem then $1,155 to replace the coil. The Advent repairman was here less than 3 hours so they charged me $400 per hour to solve a problem created by the manufacture. If you choose to do business with these guys you are going to get screwed sooner or later I only gave them one star because the minimum was one. THEY DESERVE A MINUS FOUR STARS!! read more

We've been using Advent for our routine maintenance since we moved into our house about 4 years ago. As it came closer to time to replace our system, we got a few estimates (all ended up within a reasonable price range) and decided to go with the known company. It seems like they did a good job (hard to tell how well the AC really works until later in the year) but they finished the job sooner than originally estimated, cleaned up well when they were done, and sent another person to follow-up the day after the install was complete. read more

As I expected their version misconstrued the Facts, I did clean up the drain. after your Tech came in and told what he could not do it. the original floor that the other unit had damaged had been replaced once your company had installed the air condittioner and failed to find the Core problem to the system, Aint that what the A/C company supposed to do rather than just replace? what she is failing to note is that the compressor was replaced withing two months and the tech that they send under filled the system causing this system to freeze and create more create more water p[roblems. Then they send their Rep to assess the situation and claim to send a VIP company to fix the errors they had made. Only to find that their VIP company had no idea what they had to fix. Came in ask me what they had to do and then closed the A/C vent. just after my complaints they sendt the guy down to undue everything he had done what left the space looking worse than what it originally looked. You madam may sugar coat all you like this COMPLETE screw up, but the average homeowne call a Specialist to tell them what the core issue may be and not jusat to come in half A... a repair and then claim that it was the homeowners fault. when they call they want nothing but the best. unfortunally in my case I DID NOT GET THAT. read more

Our 16 year old AC condensing unit finally gave-out on a hot Texas morning, and our home's temperature was rapidly rising with a 14 month old in the house (reaching 95 degrees in certain rooms). I had the joy of trying to deal with it through AHS (what I will now refer to as American Horse S***). The AHS contractor validated that our R22 compressor had blown out and offerred to replace our condensing unit with a new cheapo 14-SEER R410 condensing unit with a one year warranty for about 5-grand. We politely declined. I reached out to a few friends and received a recommendation for Advent. Advent dispatched Jeff who showed up the same afternoon, and I explained our situation/urgency given the situation with a baby at the house. The quality of service was exceptional and Jeff went the extra mile to get us situated including scrambling to find a random part that was necessary to retrofit our existing evaporator coil to work with the new system in order to prevent us from going into the weekend without cooling. We opted for a 16-SEER brand name setup which was installed THE SAME DAY and about 30% LESS than the crappy AHS contractor's 14 SEER garbage unit. Jeff also took the time to give us a good gauge of practical improvements which we could make to the system in the months/years ahead--some as simple as additional insulation in a couple of hot spots. Most of these improvements would not benefit Advent but ultimately save us some money. The next morning, I noticed that the new unit wasn't functioning as I hoped for, so we called Advent back. Once again, they show up the same day and their very courteous HVAC technician found that our return air plenum had a very significant air leak which was blowing cold air into our attic as opposed to the house. He corrected the issue by sealing up the box and gave me an invoice for $0. And of course, this fixed the problem. I might add that they didn't have to do this, as the box was not touched during the condensing unit install. This was our problem because of a maintenance issue which was overlooked by me. It is rare to find an honest HVAC company these days, but I feel confident that Advent is a rare jewel in a very shady industry. Thanks guys. Repair guy was nice enough but I was charged for a service call, which is pretty standard but also charged an additional $75 for disconnecting 1 thermostat wire, which was literally just pulling it out. I was told only if he did any 'major work' there were extra fees but that was not the case. Bigger problem was he didn't diagnose or fix my bigger issue: my furnace is not heating well enough. He told me I needed a new blower or to replace the whole system for roughly 3,000. I called another company Best Air and they fixed my heating problem, told me my home warrenty would replace my blower at no cost (I confirmed and they are) and charged me nothing. He told me it just needed an adjusment and to call him in the future if I needed anything more serious. I didn't expect him not to charge me and I didn't expect to be over charged but you don't always pay for what you get. read more

Warning DFW peeps: Do not use Advent Air out of Lewisville, TX! They will SCAM you out of thousands of dollars if you let them. I see that my particular tech got rave reviews from another Yelper. I'm hoping that he genuinely fixed their issue and didn't scam them like he tried to do to me. We can be a little gullible when we are sweltering in this TX heat, especially if we have no idea how AC systems work. Here's what happened to me last week. Last Friday, my tenants let me know that the AC had stopped working at my condo rental property. I tried to find a couple of the local AC guys I would trust to not "oversell" me stuff I didn't need but no one was available for a few days and Advent AC was highly recommended for being reputable and a large 24/7 company. I called at 4:55pm and after 4 minutes of prompts and automations to get thru to an operator was told that I would have to call back at 5:00, yes, in one minute, to do it all again in order to speak to someone who could schedule evening and weekend service unless I would like to make an appt for the next week. So, of course I hung up and called right back to get someone out ASAP. A short while later I was paired with some tech named Promesh who called and said he could go out in about 45 minutes. I told him based on all of the things my tenants said, I believed the blower motor needed replacement. He was really lost despite GPS and had to call several times to figure out where he was supposed to be. I knew when he finally arrived because my tenants were home and had to let him in the gate and had texted me that he finally found it. I also knew when he had left, just a few moments later as they had texted me that he left with no plan and "no good news". Just then, Promesh called me to say that I needed a blower motor but he didn't have one and didn't know if the particular one I needed could be ordered because of the age of the unit. He said he couldn't find out until Monday at the earliest as the "office is closed for the weekend" and that shipment time would be "several business days" so it could be a couple of weeks before the motor could be replaced. But, of course, he could go ahead and replace my entire unit and solve the problem today. We're talking $150 vs $5K+. I challenged why there was NO ONE to find out that info and expedite the process since they are a 24/7/365 company but he had no reply. Then I asked him for the info for the motor that needed to be ordered so I could work on getting it ordered myself over the weekend and he laughed and said "I'm not going to give you that. You'll have to do it yourself." I expressed my frustration with his lack of solutions and he told me I'd just have to call back "next week" to file a complaint when the office was open. So the next day, Saturday, I went to the condo and obtained the part info. Within 30 minutes I had the $120 motor ordered for pickup at 8am at Grainger just 3 miles away (they also have multiple locations all over town in the event one location would have been out of them). Unfortunately I don't think any place that sells AC parts is open over the weekend so that was the delay, but it's a very common part and was readily available with several in stock for pickup and NO SHIPPING. My tenants expressed great dissatisfaction with Promesh as he apparently did ZERO diagnostics, going in and having one look at the unit he scoffed that "it's too old and I'm not going to work on that" and left. He never said what was wrong or even took the cover off to have a look inside! So, when he called to tell me it was the blower motor, it was because I had told him that's what it was and he couldn't give me the info because he had NO IDEA what it even was as he'd never even looked! Monday, within an hour of picking up the motor, the unit was up and running again blowing ice cold air. I could have lost thousands of dollars in a split second had I trusted this guy and unfortunately, most people probably would have out of desperation when being told it could take "weeks" to get it fixed IF it was even fixable. Today, almost a full week later, a secretary from Advent called me to "see about ordering a blower motor for my air conditioner". When I told her about the whole ordeal and having already fixed it days ago, her response was "So I guess you're not going to pay the bill for his visit and the diagnostic fees?" Seriously?! My response was "What diagnostic fees? He didn't do anything. He didn't even look at it!" She just said "Okay" and hung up, no apologies, nothing. It is shameful the depths to which some industries will sink to scam unsuspecting people out of their hard-earned money and it seems to be very common in this particular industry. Ben Lam came by for an A/C check and refrigerant boost. He was fantastic, took his time to do the job properly and also identified an issue. He spotted that my filters were very dirty even after just a month of usage. The reason was that there is a lot is new construction in the area and the filters were doing their job, catching all the dust & dirt. He had replacement filters installed the same day. When everything was completed, he walked me through the entire setup and answered all my questions as a new home owner. Great job from Ben and the company. read more

Update: 7/6/2017. After my initial review. I received a call from Donna. I was amazed to hear that this actually cares about their customers. Donna apologized for the issues I had to endure and advised me that they will refund charges both service calls. I was absolutely impressed with their level of customer service and I will definitely do business with them again and have already recommended them to family, friends and colleagues. I feel taken advantage of. The technician misdiagnosed the issue on the first visit and replaced a part that did not need replaced on the wrong unit downstairs instead of the unit that was not cooling upstairs and he charged me $242. He also said that a wire was loose on the other unit and he fixed within seconds by tightening the wire. He assured me that he fixed the issue but did not go back upstairs after replacing the part to make sure the unit was cooling. The unit he repaired downstairs was never broken and was cooling fine but that night the unit was making a loud noise as if it was about to explode and kept me up all night. I had to call them back the next day. The technician came back out and told me he had the units mixed up and fixed the wrong unit. He told me , it still needed the part he replaced . He said the upstairs had a loose wire that was chewed through by an animal. ( same wire he tightened the day before ) He fixed the wire and told me he would just charge minimal which turned out to be an additional $162. A total of over $400. My husband was shocked! We basically paid for the technician mistake. He never used the discount coupon I presented on the first day. Unbelievable. Beware read more

I messaged Advent, they were quick to respond and technician MO ( Mohammad) called He was quite away however he was able to refer to someone closer to my house. Susan she came in did great job, not only she replaced the capacitor but also did quick service about HVAC looked at its condition, compressor made sure it's in good condition. I am very grateful for them helping me in this hot summer especially with kids. read more

I had the absolute worst service possible from this company. My coil was leaking, so decided to purchase a new one and get it installed by Advent Air. The technician shows up and tells me the coil is not the problem, and that a valve was to blame. He replaced the valve and added coolant. A few months later the A/C unit is, again, not working properly. The same technician that replaced the valve shows up. He finds a "bent valve" on the condenser and condemns it. He says he cannot do anything to fix the issue, and that everything else looked fine. My only option was to purchase a new condenser. I called another company for a second opinion. They found that the coolant level was actually low and found a leak in the coil. They added coolant and the system started working great. I spoke with Jason, one of the managers at Advent, about my service. Not only did he take MONTHS to respond to me, even though I sent a weekly reminder that my issue was never responded to, but he never acknowledged that his technician did anything wrong. The best he could do was to refund the cost of the second service call. Really? That was the BEST you could do? I did some research on my own, found that my coil was notorious for leaking, and was actually under recall. I was able to have the entire coil replaced for free! Why didn't Advent ever offer this for me, or even advise me about the recall? There is no way I could recommend this company to anyone. They did not fix the original problem, they did not back their work, they do not respond to complaints, and the technician obviously tried to scam me out of money for his own commission. read more

We built a new home in 2012 and our builder recommended that we use Advent Air for our heating and cooling. We let them design our system as to their engineer's recommendations. The systems they installed do not heat or cool our home adequately. We have had them come out to explain our concerns and yet they insist that the systems are working properly. This really came to our attention again when we recently built a new home in the country. The new home has a room the same size as our current in town home. The in town home main room takes hours to reach the chosen heated temperature, using three vents for out-put. Yet our new country home, using multiple vents, reaches the set heated temperature within five minutes. This clearly shows me that Advent's design for our in town home is totally not done correctly. I'd strongly suggest that if you are installing new AC/Heating in your home, that you consider other choices than Advent! read more

Assessment of air flow and optimizing hot/cold spots was most comprehensive among different quotes, and price was competitive even with those modifications and labor warranty included. Last night, it finally died and is beyond repair, so I gave Advent a call. My warranty is less than a month expired and they are not willing to discuss a discount or coverage or anything. I recently posted about a problem I had/have with Advent Air. We have used them for our HVAC service for years and years purchasing service for our old units until they croaked and buying all new HVAC systems for up and down stairs. Always appreciated their expertise but until recently have not appreciated their customer service performance. Everyone in their office speaks with a super nice and patient voice. No one gets worked up. It's a wonderful trait to have in employees for sure. I would bet we have spent over $40K with this company, probably more. We have been excellent customers but what I found out is that patronage means nothing; you must be a squeaky wheel to receive attention. I had complained about our last two service appointments with AAC bc their service appointment was way over-priced for 3-5 minutes of work. I was able to speak with an agent after my Yelp review who tried to explain away the reasons for the extreme charges since it seemed AAC was making $50 - $90 a minute for their on-site work and the result was a credit on my charge card for $105 because in my plight on the phone, I had mentioned that at the very by least keeping up good customer service qualities, I should be credited for a $25 coupon that paperwork said I had coming to me and the $80 service credit that their website allows. So that's what I received. Now I have to decide whether or not to give a better review of their services even though I had to fight for what I feel should have been offered. I had to fight for the $105 for which they offer to any Joe who might go to their website. Hmmm. I am grateful for the partial refund; certainly AAC could have said "no" and taken my money over and over again the next time. Is it worth it? Do I call them again when we have a $3 part go out and have to pay $238 for a 4 minute service call? Could it be worth my while to take an HVAC class and work on the unit myself? I have Advent maintain my AC system for the last two years. When my AC turned 13 years old I decided to replace it last April, 2017. I gave Advent the preference to do the job and I gave instruction to the salesman and also the installation guys that I badly want a platform that should accommodate filters sold in Lowe's or Home Depot or Walmart. They said no problem and I trusted them to do the right thing. They installed a low quality filter and so two months later I went to buy a filter at Lowe's. The dimension of the filter is 16" x 25" x 4" which is the dimension of the filter the salesman and the installers told me to buy. I went home and tried to replace the filter and to my surprise the filter I bought did not fit!!! I called Advent and the guy named Matt left a message in my voicemail telling me that I need to buy online a filter with dimension of 15.5" x 24.5" x 3.75" or go to Lowe's and tell them the dimension that I need. I don't know yet how much that customized filter would cost me but I am just so upset that Advent has to put me through all this hassle everytime I buy an AC filter. That was the kind of trouble I had in the past with my old AC that was using out of this world kind of dimension. I made it a point that when I replace the old system, the new one should use filters that are readily available. Advent did not follow and so I have to do this hassle of looking for customized filter in the next 10 years at least. ADVENT SIMPLY CANNOT BE TRUSTED. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. read more
