While sitting there, he informed an elderly gentleman that his car didn't need a tune up yet while congratulating him on still driving at age 94. Took my 2019 Sienna here for an oil change and to troubleshoot a squealing drivebelt yesterday. They did a great job with the oil change, but refused to diagnose the squealing belt problem. They told me that they could replace the belt or the tensioner, but I already had that done and it had not solved the problem. They then asked me "What do you want me to do?".... Figure it out, obviously... So, they turned me away because they either didn't have the knowhow or determination to find the problem. I then tried another mechanic in town and they diagnosed the problem in 15 minutes. This shop appears to be very good at routine maintenance, but I will likely not being going here in the future. read more

Each time something was done on my car, the price was reasonable. The alignment was done for roughly $1000.00, and the front brake replacement cost $300.00. Don't bother going to any other auto mechanic as they can't compete with Mr. Vu. He is the only mechanic I try to take my cars to. I have used him for well over 5 years, and he always quotes a reasonable price and gets the job completed in the time he says it will be done. I have dropped my car off in the morning and typically he has it done within a few hours and I have never had it left overnight. I have had him repair my broken A/C unit, a dead Alternator, battery replacement, timing belt replacement, and brake repairs and all worked out as expected and the price can't be beat. I had taken one of my cars to the dealer who quoted me $1400 for the A/C repair, while Vu did it for $500. The parts I checked out online were under $300, so the dealer was marking it up at least 50%, while Vu charged at cost. read more

A friend of mine who works for a dealership had told me if I ever need any work done on a car, to order the parts online and call around to mechanics to give you a quote just for labor, since the mechanics make a big chunk of profit on parts, not just the labor. My sister's car needed brakes and new rotors for a Toyota Camry so I called around to a bunch of mechanics on yelp to see how much their labor was to replace the pads and the rotors and found this place to be the cheapest one out of 10 that I called. Others were quoting me $100-$150 just for the labor and Vu, the owner of Master Auto Repair, said he would do it for just $50! So now that I found the cheapest person to do the labor, I checked on Amazon to get the parts. I found brake pads and rotors for $110. So I called Vu again to ask how much if i get the parts and labor all together from you and he said $150. That was cheaper than if I would have ordered the parts and came in to pay the labor. Plus I wouldn't have to wait for the parts to arrive in the mail. I called other mechanics on yelp with high ratings to check how much to replace brakes and rotors and they said $360! I don't know how they got high ratings, but maybe it meant high prices haha I went to his shop today and he did what he said he would do, and he did it all under an hour. I spent time talking to him while he was working on the car and got to know him. Great guy, came from a poor family in Vietnam, dad was an American soldier who he still does not know who he is till this day. He moved out of Vietnam to the Philippines for 7 months till he could get sponsored to America, worked at an auto shop with his uncle for 3 years in anaheim, learned the business, then opened his own successful shop in Pomona in 2004. 10 years and he's still there doing well. Proof that the American dream is still alive and well! I told him he picked a great place to open his shop. The rent is way cheaper in Pomona than anywhere else. He said yes that is how he is able to offer much lower prices to his customers. He said in Anaheim they had to charge a lot because the rent was much higher. One more thing I should mention is that I took auto mechanics classes for 3 years in high school and my teacher always preached to us to never get work done at a shop unless that mechanic is ASE certified. It's a national certification that a mechanics have to take to prove they are competent and knowledgeable in repairing cars. Vu is ASE certified, so you can count on them to do a good job and know what they are doing to repair your car. So if you need any work done on your car, whether you order the parts online or get it all through him, this place is worth the drive to get your stuff done. You'll save a couple hundred bucks. He is even confident that he is the cheapest. He told me I'm sure you called around before you came here and found out I was the cheapest right? I told him yes you are right. I will recommend him to any of my friends or family that needs to get work done on their cars. I know this is a long review for a mechanic, but I thought it would be nice to get a little background on the place and the owner so you too can feel comfortable taking one of your most valuable things you own to them. read more
